Tutor jobs in New Town and Rajarhat, Kolkata

This is the one zone in greater Kolkata where the metro has not arrived yet, and that single fact decides who can teach here week after week. Travel is harder than in the rest of the city, so tutors who already live in New Town, Rajarhat or nearby Baguiati, or who can manage the trip from Salt Lake Sector V, are the practical match for families. If that is you, this zone is worth a close look.

Open tuition requests in New Town & Rajarhat

No open home-tuition requests in New Town & Rajarhat right now. New family requests appear here as they come in; add New Town & Rajarhat to your travel areas so they can reach you.

New Town development began in the late 1990s, and the New Town Kolkata Development Authority Act, 2007 took effect in November 2008, with HIDCO planning and executing projects. The township is divided into Action Areas I, II and III, with a Central Business District between I and II. Almost every family here lives in an apartment complex. Action Area I mixes plotted blocks with government housing and private towers; around Eco Park, Action Area II is almost entirely complexes; and Action Area III, the third phase, is a mid-segment spread of two- and three-bed apartments and several sub-townships. The older Rajarhat belt around it includes Chinar Park, with many ready flats, and Teghoria, and on Rajarhat's side roads some families still live in houses with their own front door. The Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation, constituted on 18 June 2015, merged the Bidhannagar and Rajarhat-Gopalpur municipal areas.

Getting to New Town & Rajarhat

Orange Line stations for New Town, among them Nazrul Tirtha in Action Area 1A and Eco Park, being built in the middle of Biswa Bangla Sarani in Action Area IIE, are still under construction, and so is the VIP Road station. For now tutors arrive by bus, app cab or two-wheeler along Biswa Bangla Sarani, which links Action Areas I and II and runs towards the airport, along Rajarhat Main Road, which runs from Jora Mandir near Baguiati through Chinar Park to Rajarhat Chowmatha, or along VIP Road, which meets Biswa Bangla Sarani at Teghoria. Many change at Salt Lake Sector V, where the Green Line ends.

What families in New Town & Rajarhat ask for

Kolkata families study under ICSE and ISC, CBSE, the West Bengal Madhyamik and Higher Secondary, and some IB or IGCSE. The zone research says online tutors are a practical answer here for subjects with few local teachers. If you teach a subject that is hard to find, say so precisely, and tick online as well as home.

A request from New Town or Rajarhat first shows tutors who live in the zone, then those who have said they travel here, often from Baguiati or Salt Lake, then tutors elsewhere in Kolkata, with online tutors last. The shortlist holds two or three. Because travel is harder, living inside the township or in neighbouring Rajarhat counts for a lot; Action Area III, with no open metro station close by, is where a local tutor keeps weekly timings most reliably.

Society entry and visitor norms

Almost every home sits inside a gated complex that registers visitors. The security desk will want your name, phone number, tower and flat number before the first class, so ask the family to send them ahead of the demo. For weekly classes, ask whether a standing entry is possible. Visitor parking inside complexes varies from one to the next, so ask where a two-wheeler can stand.

Within the township, distances between Action Areas are larger than they look on a map. A tutor living in Action Area I may reach Chinar Park and Teghoria easily but find Action Area III a long trip at the end of the day. List the Action Areas and Rajarhat localities you can reliably reach on a weekday, and offer the rest online.

Timings that work in New Town & Rajarhat

Wide roads make driving simple, but the Chinar Park crossing and the Teghoria junction are heavy at office hours. Afternoon slots, lessons after the evening peak and weekend sessions are steadier. If you come via Sector V, check the auto, bus or cab leg at the hour of the lesson. A home visit at the weekend with an online class midweek is a pattern that suits this zone well.

Joining, leads and pay

Joining is free

Applying, onboarding, building your profile, the ID check and receiving matched requests on the Free plan cost nothing. The Free plan gives you 160 lead credits every month.

Paid plans are optional

Pro, Premium and Featured are optional platform subscriptions: more visibility, AI tools and more lead credits. They are never a fee to apply for a tuition. See tutor plans.

How leads and credits work

A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.

How you get paid

You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

Questions from tutors

Is there a metro to New Town yet?

Not yet. Nazrul Tirtha and Eco Park are Orange Line stations still under construction. Tutors usually take the Green Line to Salt Lake Sector V and finish by auto, bus or cab.

Which Action Area is hardest to reach?

Action Area III, which has no open metro station nearby. A tutor based in the township or in Rajarhat keeps weekly timings most reliably there.

What should the family send to security before the demo?

Your name, phone number and lesson time, with their tower and flat number, so you are not kept waiting at the gate.

Do I need a paid plan to get requests here?

No. Joining is free and paid plans are optional. You set your own fee, which families see before the free demo; the section below explains leads and credits.

Will families here consider online tutors?

Yes, especially for subjects with no local match. Online tutors are listed after local and travelling ones.

How do I describe my travel areas for this zone?

Name the Action Areas or localities, such as Action Area I, Chinar Park or Teghoria, rather than the whole zone. Families see tutors who travel to their area before the rest of the city, so accurate areas move you up the shortlist.
