The zone runs along VIP Road, Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue, completed in 1962 and running from Ultadanga to the airport, and along Jessore Road, NH 12, the main road through Dum Dum. It includes planned Lake Town with its parks and lake, Bangur Avenue between the two main roads, Kestopur beside Salt Lake, busy Baguiati with sub-localities such as Jyangra, Raghunathpur and Arjunpur, and the large Dum Dum area with Nagerbazar, Gora Bazar and Dum Dum Cantonment. Lake Town, Bangur Avenue and Nagerbazar fall under South Dum Dum Municipality, while Kestopur and Baguiati are in the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation. Housing is mostly flats in low- and mid-rise buildings and builder floors, with independent houses still common and only some gated complexes.
Getting to Lake Town, Dum Dum & Baguiati
Dum Dum and Belgachia stations on the Blue Line opened on 12 November 1984. Dum Dum Junction is on the Sealdah–Ranaghat line and Dum Dum Cantonment on the Sealdah–Bangaon line, and the Yellow Line opened on 22 August 2025 from Noapara via Dum Dum Cantonment and Jessore Road to Jai Hind (Biman Bandar) at the airport; its Birati section is under construction. Lake Town and Bangur Avenue use Bidhannagar Road, Patipukur and the Blue Line at Belgachia or Dum Dum.
Baguiati has no metro station yet, so tutors take a bus or an auto along VIP Road. The Ultadanga flyover opened in 2011 and the Kestopur–Baguiati flyover over VIP Road in March 2015, which help through traffic but not the local lanes.

How you get paid
You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
