How are CBSE biology marks spread over Classes 11 and 12?

Both years have a 70-mark theory paper. The 2026-27 unit weights work as a ready timetable, listed here from the heaviest unit down within each class:

Teaching follows the weights. Organ systems in human physiology are clearest when taught as processes that can be drawn, not as lists. Genetics needs inheritance problems every week from the day it begins. Reproduction rewards the correct order of events and clean labelled figures, while human welfare, biotechnology and ecology turn on precise definitions, named examples and data questions. Cell and human physiology also return most often in Class 12 revision and in NEET, so a short second pass through both at the end of Class 11 pays off. The Uttarakhand Board of School Education conducts the Intermediate examination at Class 12 and sets its own biology syllabus and paper; its website carries the syllabus, question banks and model answer sheets. How should a tutor handle the flood of new terms?

Biology brings more new words than any other school science, and a student who studied in Hindi until Class 10 meets each one twice. A tutor who handles this well usually follows a routine:

• Say it, explain it, place it. Every new term is spoken aloud, explained (in Hindi first if that helps), then written on a labelled diagram.
• Roots before lists. Common prefixes and suffixes let a student decode a new word instead of memorising it cold.

Splitting the Class 12 year between the board and NEET

School calendars differ, so treat this as an outline to adjust. It assumes a student taking the board paper and NEET in the same year:

1. Opening months. Reproduction and genetics taught with weekly written answers; an objective set after each chapter.
2. Middle of the session. Human welfare, biotechnology and ecology, the practical file brought up to date, and quick recurring rounds on the Class 11 chapters NEET leans on, human physiology and the cell.
3. Run-up to the pre-boards. Timed board papers checked against CBSE's marking scheme, and every other week a complete NEET mock followed by an error review.
4. After the board exam. Every Class 11 and 12 chapter revised from NCERT, with weekly mocks.

A UBSE or ISC student can use the same outline with that board's own papers in place of CBSE's. The point is that neither exam waits for the other to finish.
