Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

"Weak in English" can mean five different things. One Raipur student reads fluently but loses marks on letter formats; another understands every lesson yet stalls after two sentences of writing; a third has moved from Hindi medium and is translating in their head; a fourth needs confident speech for an interview more than a board mark. No single tutor suits all four. That is why our first questions cover the board (CGBSE, CBSE, ICSE, ISC, IGCSE or IB), the skill that worries you most and the colony you live in. A shortlist of two or three English teachers follows, each fee visible, and whoever you pick teaches a free first lesson.
Bring one marked answer sheet to the first conversation. The marks lost usually point to one of these patterns, and each calls for a different kind of tutor.
| What you see | Usual cause | Look for a tutor who |
|---|---|---|
| Good ideas, marks cut for layout | Formats of letters, notices or analytical paragraphs never learned properly | Teaches each format once, then practises content inside it every week |
| Short, thin answers in literature | Knows the story but cannot build a paragraph about it | Plans answers in points and marks them for length and relevance |
| Slow reading, wrong comprehension answers | Reads word by word, misses the main idea | Uses timed unseen passages and checks every answer against the text |
| Correct in speech, wrong on paper | Grammar patterns not yet automatic in writing | Collects errors from your child's own work and fixes them pattern by pattern |
| Silence when asked to speak | Little chance to use English aloud | Ends each lesson with spoken summaries and builds to short talks |
Raipur students write English for the Chhattisgarh board, for CBSE, for CISCE's ICSE and ISC, and some families choose Cambridge IGCSE or the IB. The papers share a name and little else.
Under CBSE's 2026-27 curriculum, the 80-mark board paper has three parts, and knowing the split stops lesson time being spent only on whatever chapter school is teaching that week:
The school adds 20 internal marks, of which 5 are for listening and speaking. Since literature is half the paper, a child who knows every story but writes thin answers loses more here than anywhere else. Two planned literature answers a week, marked by the tutor, usually do more good than another grammar worksheet.
The Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education, with its office in Raipur, conducts the High School and Higher Secondary examinations and sets its own English syllabus and papers. We keep our advice about those papers general, because formats and dates can change; cgbse.nic.in is the place to confirm them. What a CGBSE student needs from a tutor is clear enough: lessons from the board's prescribed books, practice with papers the board itself releases, and, if the child reads Hindi more easily, explanations in Hindi at first that give way to English as confidence grows.
A move from Hindi-medium study to English-medium books can come at any class, and the first term after it is usually the hardest. A tutor who manages it well usually works in four stages:
| Stage | In the lesson | At home |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Both languages | Ideas explained in Hindi, then restated in simple English | Ten minutes of English reading a day, two new words noted |
| 2. Translation both ways | A short Hindi paragraph put into English, and back again, to show where sentences break | One sentence written each day about what was read |
| 3. Answer frames | Ready-made openings and connectives for a letter, a paragraph or a literature answer | Frames used in school homework until they feel natural |
| 4. English only | From an agreed date, often after the first term, the whole lesson runs in English | Reading diary continues; Hindi only for a stuck word |
Yes. CBSE, ICSE and ISC all give marks for listening and speaking, so a spoken element fits inside board lessons. A tutor can close each class with a short spoken summary of the day's passage, then move on to brief talks and question-and-answer rounds. If your family wants spoken confidence for interviews or college as much as for marks, say so in the request, because it changes which tutor we put forward. Our spoken English guide for students sets out what helps.
For young children the target is reading itself. Signs to act on: guessing at words from their first letter, losing the line, or putting a book down after a page. The cure is little and often. Decode new words sound by sound, read aloud each day to a patient grown-up, and tell the story back afterwards. Thirty focused minutes beat a long, tired hour. If the household speaks mostly Hindi, a tutor who talks about pictures and stories in easy English, with a Hindi word as a rescue, grows the ear as well as the eye. A teacher used to primary classes is the right request here, not a board-year specialist.
In Class 11, CBSE English Core gives reading 26 marks, grammar and creative writing 23, and literature 31 from Hornbill and Snapshots. Class 12 drops the separate grammar section and gives more weight to literature, now from Flamingo and Vistas. The internal 20 is split into listening 5, speaking 5 and a project 10. On the ISC language paper a student picks one of six composition titles and writes 400 to 450 words, then does directed writing and a proposal; literature is examined on its own. IGCSE families should confirm the entry, First Language or Second Language. IB students face unseen texts to analyse and an individual oral lasting 15 minutes. Few local tutors teach these, so an online specialist is frequently the answer. The national English home tutor page covers each course in detail.
Raipur tutors mostly travel by two-wheeler or auto, and for regular classes the easiest match is someone from your own part of the city. Every locality is listed on our Raipur home tuition page.
Gudhiyari is mostly flats close to Raipur Junction; let the caretaker know the tutor's name and choose a time before the station roads get busy. Devendra Nagar has numbered sectors of houses and builder floors, so the sector and house number are enough. Pandri has crowded market streets in the evening and on festival days; a weekday slot with some margin and a precise landmark help.
Shankar Nagar offers a large pool of nearby tutors; apartment gates usually record visitors, so pass on the flat number. Mowa sits beside Vidhan Sabha Road, whose office-hour traffic is worth avoiding. Saddu is spread out and still growing, so share a map pin and look for a tutor from Mowa or Daldal Seoni.
For the wider picture, the zone pages for Central Raipur, East Raipur, South Raipur and West Raipur describe each part of the city, and the Raipur home tuition guide compares them.
Once a child is in Class 3 or so, screen lessons succeed if the tutor sees the written work in advance, whether snapped from the exercise book or typed into a shared file. They also open the door to ISC, IGCSE and IB teachers in any city. Home lessons remain better for children learning to read, for students in the first months of a change of medium, and for anyone who speaks more freely face to face. If your preferred tutor lives far off, pair a weekly visit with a weekly video lesson.
If too many answers are no, tell us; the next tutor on your shortlist gives a demo, and changing tutor later is free.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Rates are the tutors' own; class level, board, familiarity with that exam, the journey at your chosen time and lesson frequency all play a part. Every fee is listed before any demo, and our guide to tuition fees in Raipur breaks them down.
A useful message covers class, board, the skill in trouble (reading, writing, grammar, literature or speech), the language your child thinks in, a colony and landmark, workable days and hours, and a budget. Back come two or three English teachers, fees attached. Anyone joining as a tutor passes an ID check before the Verified badge appears. Need another subject? Try maths or science tuition in Raipur. Raipur English tutors set their own fees, shaped by class, board, the journey and lesson frequency, and each fee appears on your shortlist before the demo.
Yes, a Raipur English tutor can prepare a CGBSE student from the board's prescribed books and the papers the board itself releases. Good matches are comfortable explaining in Hindi until the student's English settles. Paper formats can change, so confirm them on cgbse.nic.in and ask for the tutor's plan at the demo.
For a Raipur student, CBSE Class 10 English in 2026-27 gives literature 40 of the 80 board marks and reading 20. Grammar carries 10, and the formal letter and analytical paragraph 5 each. School adds 20 internal marks, five for listening and speaking, so planned literature answers within the word limit matter most.
An English tutor in Raipur helps a child moving from Hindi medium with a bilingual start, two-way translation, a short daily reading habit and ready answer frames. From an agreed date, often after the first term, lessons switch to English only. Say in your request which language your child reads more easily.
Usually yes, one Raipur tutor can teach spoken and board English together, because CBSE, ICSE and ISC all give marks for listening and speaking. A spoken recap or short talk fits naturally at the end of each lesson. If fluent speech for interviews is a goal in itself, say so; it changes which teacher we suggest.
Yes, English tutors cover every zone of Raipur, from Gudhiyari and Pandri in the centre to Shankar Nagar, Mowa and Saddu in the east, and South and West Raipur. Most travel by two-wheeler or auto, so a tutor from your side of the city is easiest. Where travel rules out a match, lessons can run online.
For Raipur students, CBSE Class 11 English Core gives reading 26 marks, grammar and creative writing 23, and literature from Hornbill and Snapshots 31, making 80. Internal assessment adds 20: listening 5, speaking 5 and a project 10. In Class 12 grammar is no longer tested separately and literature takes a larger share.
A Raipur child in Classes 1 to 5 needs an English tutor used to primary classes, focused on reading itself rather than board papers. Lessons decode new words sound by sound, include reading aloud and retelling the story. Thirty focused minutes beat a tired hour, and easy English with a Hindi rescue word helps in Hindi-speaking homes.
To compare English tutors in Raipur, send the class, board, the skill in trouble, the language your child thinks in, your colony with a landmark, and workable hours. You get two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.
For a Raipur child from about Class 3, screen lessons work for English if the tutor sees the written work in advance. They also open up ISC, IGCSE and IB specialists in other cities. Home visits stay wiser for early readers, the first months after a change of medium, and children who speak more freely face to face; many families pair one of each weekly.
