Now taking on home, online and hybrid tutors · in Agartala
If you teach science, up to which class will Agartala parents want you? Mostly through Class 10, where biology, chemistry and physics still sit in one textbook and one board paper. That makes a combined science tutor the usual request: one person who can see whether a wrong answer in a ray diagram comes from the idea or the arithmetic, and who keeps three strands moving without letting any of them slide. Above Class 10 the subjects split, and senior physics, chemistry and biology have their own pages.

This page looks at what Agartala science students are examined on, which wards are practical to cover, the habits families notice in a good science tutor and how to win a family at the free first class. Class X on the Tripura board is where families feel the squeeze. The TBSE science syllabus sets an 80-mark written paper and 20 marks of internal assessment, and within the 80 biology carries 30 while physics and chemistry carry 25 each. The physics units are natural phenomena (light, the human eye and the colourful world) and the effects of current (electricity and its magnetic effects). Chemistry covers chemical reactions and equations, acids, bases and salts, metals and non-metals, and carbon and its compounds. Biology runs from life processes and control and coordination to reproduction, heredity and evolution, and our environment. What sets the TBSE document apart is that it gives separate blueprints for the half-yearly examination and for the pre-board and board final, listing questions by mark value from one-mark multiple choice up to long answers of three, four and five marks. A tutor who builds practice papers from those blueprints is preparing the child for the paper that will actually be set.
Class IX matters almost as much. It is the year science stops being descriptive, with more equations, more formulae and more detailed diagrams, and on the Tripura board it is also the year of board registration through the school. Parents who have watched an older child struggle in Class X often start tuition here.
CBSE students make up the other main group. The 2026-27 sample paper has 39 questions for 80 marks, and three areas are assessed by the school rather than on the board paper this year: motors, generators and electromagnetic induction; evolution; and the periodic arrangement of elements. They still matter for Class 11, so a careful tutor teaches them while keeping revision time for the examined chapters. ICSE examines physics, chemistry and biology as three separate papers, and ICSE specialists are fewer in Agartala than TBSE or CBSE teachers, so families sometimes add an online tutor for one of the three. Middle-school requests for Classes 6 to 8 tend to ask for careful reading, labelled diagrams and a vocabulary notebook rather than exam drilling.
Science lessons mostly happen after school, so think about how afternoon traffic in each zone fits your week. East Agartala, with Dhaleswar, Shibnagar and Jogendranagar, is chiefly residential; school opening and closing bring extra traffic in Dhaleswar, which pushes home lessons towards the later afternoon. Directions here hang on chowmuhanis such as Ashram Chowmuhani and Math Chowmuhani, and Shibnagar and Jogendranagar are each split into several wards, so confirm the ward before your first visit. In Central Agartala, Ramnagar's numbered divisions make homes easy to find, while Krishnanagar and Joynagar need a lane landmark and a slot clear of the Tuesday and Friday market or the evening crowd at Battala Bazaar.
In the north, Kunjaban is up the hill road, and Indranagar and Abhoynagar sit beside each other with Banamalipur close by, so a tutor living in any of them can cover the cluster. The south, with Badharghat, Arundhutinagar and Pratapgarh, connects to the centre by the flyover from Police Lines to Fire Brigade Chowmuhani, and the area around the railway station at Badharghat gets busier around train times. If your science students are spread across zones, a mix of home lessons nearby and online lessons further away keeps the travel sensible.
Families comparing science tutors look for range and method. On your profile, state the classes you take, the boards and the language you teach in, and add one or two lines on how you teach: for instance, that every lesson ends with a three-question check, or that you build Class X practice from the TBSE blueprint. Keep your localities realistic; a tutor in Ramnagar who lists only the central divisions and Banamalipur is more useful to a family than one who lists every ward in the city.
Use the free demo to show how you find gaps. Ask the child to explain one process in biology in their own words, balance one equation and solve one short numerical. Within twenty minutes you will know which strand is slipping, and the parent will see that you know too. Tell them plainly what you would work on first. If you can also teach online, mention it as a backup for heavy festival weeks, so lessons carry on without a gap.

A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.
You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
For Classes 6 to 10, usually yes, because the subject is examined as one paper on TBSE and CBSE. ICSE is different: it has three separate papers, and some families split them between two tutors. If you prefer only physics and chemistry, say so on your profile and you will be matched accordingly.
Work from the board's syllabus and its blueprints, which list questions by mark value for the half-yearly and the pre-board and board final exams. Remember the split: biology 30, physics 25 and chemistry 25 of the 80 written marks, with 20 internal. Check the current copy on tbse.tripura.gov.in rather than forwarded files.
It is a common starting point, because Class IX is where equations and formulae multiply and, on the Tripura board, where registration happens through the school. A tutor who sets a short test after each chapter gives the family a record of weak topics before Class X begins.
Later afternoon or early evening, in most cases. School traffic in Dhaleswar fills local roads at opening and closing, and a slot after that rush also gives the child a short break before the lesson.
Yes. Switch on online teaching and you can be matched with families anywhere in India who choose online lessons. ICSE students in Agartala sometimes add an online tutor for one of their three science papers, which is another route in.
