Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Coimbatore families meet accountancy at the start of the higher secondary years, usually on one of three boards: the Tamil Nadu State Board, CBSE or CISCE's ISC. Each uses its own textbook and sets its own paper, and each asks for slightly different things in Class 12. Matching the tutor to the board comes first. Then comes geography: a city that spreads along Avinashi Road, Trichy Road, Sathy Road and Mettupalayam Road, where the right weekday slot depends on which side of the road you live. Our national accountancy home tutor guide covers the syllabus in depth; this page covers Coimbatore.
| Board | Exam in brief | Ask a prospective tutor |
|---|---|---|
| Tamil Nadu State Board | Higher secondary accountancy on the state textbook, with papers set by the board | Which edition of the State Board book do you teach from, and which past papers do you use? |
| CBSE Accountancy (055) | Theory paper of 80 marks over three hours, plus 20 marks of project work, in each of the two years | Have you taught both Class 12 options, analysis of statements and Computerised Accounting? |
| ISC Accounts (858) | 80-mark paper in three hours: 20 compulsory short-answer marks, then five 12-mark questions; two 10-mark projects | How do you prepare students to finish five long questions in time? |
| ISC Commerce (857) | A separate, descriptive subject with the same paper pattern | Do you teach Commerce as well, or Accounts only? |
If your child follows a Cambridge course (IGCSE Accounting 0452 or AS and A Level Accounting 9706) or is an IB student needing help with a Business Management unit, tell us the exact course; online lessons can reach tutors elsewhere in India who teach it. CBSE students usually take Business Studies (054) alongside accountancy, and it is worth saying which of the two needs the help.
Many Coimbatore students study under the Tamil Nadu State Board and continue with it into the higher secondary years, where accountancy is taken within a commerce group. We do not restate that course's paper design or dates; the board publishes both, and those documents are the ones a tutor should use. Some students switch from the State Board to CBSE or ISC for the senior years, or the other way, and they need a tutor who knows both sides.
A State Board accountancy tutor earns their fee by doing three things well: teaching from the board's own textbook rather than a borrowed guide, working through the board's past papers under time, and refusing to let the basics slide. The basics are the same on every board. Each transaction is reasoned through the accounting equation; every adjustment is shown in both places it affects; working notes are written out; and theory answers use the proper terms. Say which class and group your child is in, and the medium of study.
| Year | CBSE | ISC |
|---|---|---|
| Class 11 | Theoretical framework 12, accounting process 44, sole proprietor's statements 24; Computerised Accounting compulsory; basic GST entries | From the accounting equation and journal through bank reconciliation, depreciation and rectification to final accounts and non-trading organisations |
| Class 12, core | Partnership 36 and companies 24 | Section A on partnership and joint stock companies, 60 |
| Class 12, choice | Statement analysis 12 and cash flow 8, or Computerised Accounting | Section B (analysis and cash flow) or Section C (spreadsheets and databases), 20 |
| Class 12, coursework | Project on a company's statements: file 12, viva 8 | Two projects of 10 marks |
Class 12 partnership questions are long, and an early slip, such as a reversed sacrificing ratio or a reserve left out, carries through every account after it. Students who work in a fixed order and write a note for each step keep partial marks when a figure goes wrong. Ask the school which Class 12 option it teaches before the first demo, because a tutor at home with ratios may not be the right person for spreadsheets.
Parents sometimes judge a tutor by how many sums get done in an hour. A better measure is how much of the hour your child spends reasoning on paper while the tutor watches. A well-run lesson for a Class 11 or 12 commerce student tends to have four parts:
If the tutor talks for most of the hour and your child copies, the lesson feels productive but changes little. Ask for the balance to shift. It also helps to keep one notebook only for errors: each wrong entry, the reason it was wrong and the corrected version. Read back before a test, that notebook is often worth more than another chapter of solved examples.
The NTA's CUET (UG) 2026 bulletin lists Accountancy / Book Keeping (code 301) as a domain subject, tested in 50 compulsory questions in 60 minutes on the NCERT Class 12 syllabus. CBSE students have covered it; State Board and ISC students should compare chapters with NCERT's before timed practice. The bulletin is reissued every cycle, so check the current one.
Families in any zone can ask for a home tutor. When the weekly trip does not suit anyone shortlisted, online lessons widen the choice.
The centre. A tutor without a vehicle can take a town bus to Gandhipuram or a train to Coimbatore North Junction. In RS Puram, the road name and door number are usually enough; book soon after school, before the evening shopping crowd.
Along Sathy Road and Mettupalayam Road. Complexes in Saravanampatti use visitor apps or gate lists, so register the tutor first. Thudiyalur has a MEMU station a tutor can use.
For homes just off Avinashi Road around Peelamedu, a tutor from your side of the road saves U-turns at the junctions. Start after the evening office rush.
The Singanallur junction is among the busiest on Trichy Road, so avoid the peak and pick a tutor from your own side.
Mostly houses, so the tutor parks at the gate. Vadavalli and Kovaipudur sit at the city's edge, where a nearby tutor plus online lessons often works well.
The Coimbatore tuition guide and the Coimbatore home tuition page describe every area.
Home lessons have a real advantage in accountancy. The tutor watches each entry as it is written and stops a wrong-side posting before it spreads through the ledger, which matters most in Class 11 while double entry is new. Online lessons work too, once the tutor can see the notebook clearly (a phone on a stand or a writing tablet) and homework is photographed and sent before the session. Computerised Accounting and ISC Section C are often easier online, with both people in the same spreadsheet.
At the edges of the city, or when the right tutor lives across a busy road from you, families often combine the two: a weekend home lesson for partnership and final accounts, and a short online session midweek for theory and doubts.
Our demo class checklist for parents helps with preparation. If it is not the right fit, we arrange the next tutor's demo.

For stream choice before Class 11, our stream guide and Class 11 page, written for Gurugram, explain commerce clearly. Tutors can see requests on Coimbatore tuition jobs.

Yes, a Coimbatore tutor can teach higher secondary accountancy from the Tamil Nadu State Board textbook, working through the board's past papers under time. Tell us the class, commerce group and medium of study. The board publishes its own paper design and dates, so a tutor should use those documents, not a borrowed guide.
For Coimbatore students, CBSE Accountancy (055) is an 80-mark, three-hour theory paper plus 20 marks of project work. ISC Accounts (858) is also 80 marks in three hours, but with 20 compulsory short-answer marks followed by five 12-mark questions, plus two 10-mark projects. Finishing five long ISC questions in time needs practice.
A Coimbatore student should confirm whether the school teaches CBSE's statement analysis and cash flow option or Computerised Accounting, or ISC's Section B or Section C. Ask before the first demo, because a tutor who is strong with ratios may not be the right person for spreadsheets.
Class 12 partnership accounts trouble Coimbatore commerce students because the questions are long and one early slip spreads. A reversed sacrificing ratio or a reserve left out carries through every account after it. Working in a fixed order with a note for each step keeps partial marks when one figure goes wrong.
Yes, Tamil Nadu State Board and ISC students in Coimbatore should compare their chapters with NCERT's before timed CUET practice. A good accountancy lesson in Coimbatore has four parts, with your child reasoning on paper for most of the hour. It opens with three or four entries from earlier chapters, then one new idea such as goodwill on admission, then a full question done alone with working notes. It ends with two theory answers in exam language and a practice list.
A Class 11 commerce student in Coimbatore usually learns double entry better at home, while it is new, since a tutor can stop a wrong-side posting at once. Online works once the tutor can see the notebook clearly, and suits Computerised Accounting and ISC Section C. At the city's edge, families often mix a weekend home lesson with midweek online sessions.
Accountancy tutors reach Saravanampatti in Coimbatore by road along Sathy Road, and complexes there use visitor apps or gate lists, so register the tutor first.
