Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

A Class 12 physics student in Coimbatore might be heading for a State Board or CBSE paper, an ISC or IB assessment, JEE, NEET, or a board exam and an entrance test in the same year. The chapters overlap; the way each exam scores them does not, and senior students have little free time after school and coaching. NXTutors picks out two or three physics tutors who know that exam and can get to your side of the city in the hours you have free, shows what each one charges, and arranges a free demo with your choice.
Decide the main aim before the first session, because it changes what the tutor sets each week:
NTA, not the school board, sets entrance syllabi, which can retain topics a board has removed, so read its current bulletin on nta.ac.in before dropping a chapter. Useful background: the JEE physics topic-wise guide and our piece weighing JEE coaching against a home tutor.
State Board physics in Classes 11 and 12 is taught from Tamil Nadu's own syllabus and books, and the state runs the Class 12 public examination. Its paper design is the board's to publish and revise, so we leave it out here. Look for a tutor who teaches from the state book your child uses and practises with the board's model and earlier papers. If JEE or NEET is also planned, the tutor should set the entrance syllabus against the state chapters in the first weeks of Class 11 and timetable whatever is missing.
This session's sample paper repeats last year's design: 33 compulsory questions over three hours, physical constants supplied, no calculator. Fourteen NCERT chapters fall into four blocks.
| Block | Marks | What it usually asks | Tutor's response |
|---|---|---|---|
| Electrostatics through alternating current | 33 | Derivations, field and circuit problems | One derivation from memory every week |
| Optics with electromagnetic waves | 18 | Ray diagrams and lens or mirror numericals | Diagrams with arrows drawn before any formula |
| Dual nature, atoms and nuclei | 12 | Short numericals and definitions | Quick timed sets to open a session |
| Semiconductor electronics | 7 | Diode behaviour and characteristics | A single revision sheet, returned to monthly |
By section: A holds 16 items of one mark (12 multiple-choice, 4 assertion–reason); B, 5 of two marks; C, 7 of three; D, 2 case studies of four; E, 3 long answers of five. Only around 38% of marks reward recall, so dictated notes prepare a child for a smaller slice of the paper than parents expect. Transistors and logic gates have left the syllabus; older notes that teach them are out of date. Class 12 sits a single main board exam; watch cbse.gov.in for the 2027 date sheet. Derivations that recur year after year are collected in our Class 12 physics strategies; for the year's plan, see Class 12 physics tutors.
| Component | Marks | Preparation at home |
|---|---|---|
| Two experiments, one from each section | 7 each | Aim, diagram and table of observations rehearsed on paper |
| Practical record | 5 | A check that every entry is complete and correctly laid out |
| One activity | 3 | The purpose of the activity explained aloud |
| Investigatory project | 3 | A topic small enough to finish without help |
| Viva on all of the above | 5 | A mock viva built on "why" questions |
In the record, the minimum is eight experiments and six activities, drawn equally from the two sections, together with the project report. Equipment never leaves the lab, yet a tutor can probe the thinking: what repeating a reading achieves, what the gradient of a plotted line stands for, and what would change with a thicker wire or a different lens.
JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 was computer-based, and physics made up 25 of its 75 questions: 20 multiple-choice and 5 with a numerical answer. NEET (UG) 2026 was a pen-and-paper test, and physics supplied 45 of its 180 questions, worth 180 of the 720 marks. Each exam gave four marks for a right answer and took one away for a wrong one, so guessing has a price.
The two exams pull tuition in different directions. JEE preparation rewards problems that join two or three concepts, so a tutor should set fewer, harder questions and go through every wrong step. NEET preparation rewards fast, careful work on NCERT-level ideas, so the tutor should build speed through many shorter questions and watch for careless errors. See the high-yield NEET physics chapters for NEET priorities.
Senior physics usually starts after coaching. The city has no metro (one has been proposed but is not sanctioned), so tutors use roads, town buses and local trains. Five localities, one in each zone, show how it plays out; browse tutors by locality on our Coimbatore page.
Tatabad is a grid of eleven numbered streets north-west of Gandhipuram, so a tutor finds the house on the first visit. Coimbatore North Junction stands in the neighbourhood and commuter trains on the Mettupalayam line stop there. Power House Road and 100 Feet Road are busy at office hours, so aim for late afternoon, and share the flat number with any building guard in advance.
Thudiyalur, on Mettupalayam Road, joined the corporation in 2011. Its station, reopened in July 2017 and close to the bus stand, has local MEMU trains to Coimbatore Junction and Mettupalayam, so a tutor from the city side can come by train. Most homes are gated houses with parking outside. Agree a fixed weekday slot that misses the rush on Mettupalayam Road.
Avinashi Road runs from the Uppilipalayam flyover out to the Neelambur bypass, where it meets NH 544. The elevated expressway above it, opened in October 2025, has sped up cross-town trips. For homes just off the road, a tutor who lives on the same side avoids U-turns and junction waits; complexes usually want visitor registration.
Ondipudur, part of the corporation since 1981, sits on Trichy Road where a flyover crosses the railway. Tutors from Singanallur, Irugur and SIHS Colony are close, and late afternoons or weekend mornings keep the schedule steady. Podanur grew around a railway junction opened in 1862 that serves the main line and the Pollachi line; a tutor can take the train and an auto for the last leg, and most homes are houses with parking at the gate.
When coaching overruns, moving one weekly lesson online with the same tutor stops the plan slipping.
IB Diploma. IB physics has a new guide, examined for the first time in May 2025. It dropped the old options and Paper 3 and reorganised the syllabus into five themes, A to E. Recommended teaching time is 150 hours at SL and 240 at HL; the grade comes 80% from two exam papers and 20% from the scientific investigation. That investigation belongs to the student: a tutor may talk through the plan but writes none of it. Our IB physics SL and HL guide explains the change.
ISC. CISCE assesses theory, practical and project work, and expects fuller explanations than a one-line CBSE answer; ask which exam year the tutor's notes follow. Cambridge IGCSE. Entered at Core or Extended; a student switching boards for Class 11 usually needs a head start on vectors, graphing and derivations. These specialists are fewer, so name the course early; an online specialist can be paired with a nearby tutor.
The Class 11 course runs from measurement and kinematics into the laws of motion, work and energy, rotation and gravitation, and it leans on vectors, graphs and rates of change, occasionally before the maths class has taught them. In Class 12 those tools return, applied to charges instead of masses. A tutor who makes components, slopes and areas under graphs routine in the first term saves expensive repair work later. Every numerical should follow one routine: draw the situation, name the law, carry units on every line, then check the sign and size of the answer. If the stream is still undecided, our guide to choosing a Class 11 stream helps, and the chapter list is on the Class 11 physics tutors page.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors quote their own rates, which reflect the target exam, their experience teaching it, the evening journey to your locality and the number of sessions each week. The same tutor may charge less online. You see every fee before the demo.
Tell us the class and board, whether the aim is the board paper, JEE or NEET, your locality with a nearby landmark, and which evenings are free once school and coaching finish. Two or three matched physics tutors come back with their fees, and the one you pick gives a free demo class. A poor fit means another demo, and a later switch of tutor costs nothing. Where nobody suitable can travel at your hour, online or mixed sessions are the fallback. From its Sector 66, Gurugram office, NXTutors also runs online lessons across India; see the national physics home tutor page for how it works elsewhere, while our maths home tutors in Coimbatore page covers the other subject most JEE students need.
Physics teachers who live in Coimbatore will find open student requests on the Coimbatore tuition jobs page.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Rates are set by each tutor, and the shortlist shows every fee before the demo is booked.
Yes. We look for tutors who teach higher secondary physics from the state textbooks and practise with the board's model and earlier papers. The board publishes its own question-paper scheme. If JEE or NEET is planned too, the tutor should map the entrance syllabus against the state chapters during the first term of Class 11.
Electrostatics through alternating current is worth 33 of the 70 theory marks, nearly half. The smaller blocks are semiconductor electronics at 7, dual nature, atoms and nuclei at 12, and optics with electromagnetic waves at 18. The syllabus no longer includes transistors or logic gates.
Two experiments earn 7 marks each, the record 5, one activity 3, the investigatory project 3 and the viva 5, making 30. A complete record has eight or more experiments and six or more activities, half from each section, plus the project report. A tutor can rehearse the viva at home.
Physics filled 25 of the 75 questions in JEE Main 2026 Paper 1: 20 multiple-choice and 5 numerical-value. In NEET (UG) 2026 it filled 45 of 180 questions, worth 180 of 720 marks. Both exams gave +4 for a right answer and −1 for a wrong one, so blind guessing is costly.
Yes. Thudiyalur station, near the bus stand, has local MEMU trains between Coimbatore Junction and Mettupalayam, so a tutor from the city side can come by train. Most homes are houses with their own gate and parking. Fix a regular weekday slot that avoids the Mettupalayam Road rush.
The course changed with a guide examined from May 2025: the options and Paper 3 went, and the content now sits in five themes, A to E. Two exam papers supply 80% of the grade, and the student's own scientific investigation supplies 20%, which nobody else may write.
