What home tuition costs in Coimbatore

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

ICSE and ISC tutors in Coimbatore: keeping many papers moving, Class 6 to 12

CISCE's ICSE and ISC are the third of the three boards under which, the Coimbatore city hub says, most local requests fall, after the Tamil Nadu State Board and CBSE. The hub describes both examinations plainly: long written answers over a wide syllabus, set literature in English, and project and internal work in each subject, so that the challenge is usually breadth. This page explains how ICSE and ISC are structured, how they differ from the State Board, what tutoring looks like at each stage, how tutors cross the city's five zones and how to judge a tutor in the free demo. Abhinandan Tiwary teaches Class 10 CBSE and ICSE maths, Aaditya Kashyap CBSE and ICSE science, and Ajay Vatsyayan, among other courses, ISC maths; this page draws on those areas.

ICSE in Coimbatore

We have no count of how many Coimbatore students follow CISCE, and we will not invent one. The hub does tell us how a good ICSE or ISC tutor here should work: plan a revision cycle that keeps returning to every chapter, set timed written practice regularly, and keep an eye on the project and internal assessment each subject carries. Those three habits matter more than brilliance in any single topic. When you ask, tell us which papers worry you most and whether the school has flagged anything in recent reports, so the shortlist leans toward the right subject strengths.

How ICSE differs from the Tamil Nadu State Board

The State Board examines at the end of Class 10 and then runs the higher secondary course in Classes 11 and 12, using the state textbooks and a scheme announced in its official notices. Without going into that scheme, ICSE differs in three broad ways. Science is three separately examined subjects. Answers, even in science and the humanities, are expected in full organised sentences with working and labelled diagrams. And the senior years run under the same council as ISC, with electives chosen and fixed early in Class 11. Children who move between the two boards usually manage the content; it is the volume of writing that takes time.

How ICSE subjects are grouped

ICSE Class 10 groups under the CISCE regulations
GroupTypical subjectsMarks
Group I, every studentEnglish, a second language, and History, Civics and GeographyFinal paper 80%, internal 20%
Group II, two or threeMathematics, Science, Economics, Commercial Studies, Environmental Science or a foreign or classical languageFinal paper 80%, internal 20%
Group III, one onlyComputer Applications, Art, Physical Education, Robotics and AI, Economic or Commercial Applications and similarEqual split, paper and internal

ICSE maths and the three sciences

Mathematics is examined by one three-hour paper worth 80 marks. The remaining 20 marks are internal, from at least two assignments that the subject teacher and an external examiner mark independently. Commercial mathematics, including banking and shares, sits with algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics, and examiners reward every step shown.

In science, Physics, Chemistry and Biology are separate two-hour papers of 80 marks, each with 20 internal marks for practical work. Strength in physics numericals does not protect a student in chemical equations or biology diagrams, so either the tutor covers all three confidently or the weak paper gets its own specialist. CISCE's Analysis of Pupil Performance, released subject by subject after each exam season, records the errors examiners saw most; a tutor who builds lessons around it, and around specimen papers, is teaching to the actual marking.

What a Class 10 ICSE week can look like

With so many papers, a written weekly rhythm keeps any subject from going cold. A workable pattern for a student with two tutoring sessions:

A sample week for a Class 10 ICSE student
SlotFocus
Session 1Maths: one topic taught, then specimen-paper questions with full working
Self-studyOne long answer each in History and Geography, timed
Session 2The weakest science paper: diagrams, equations or numericals, then a timed question
Self-studyAn English composition or a literature answer, to be marked next session
WeekendGroup III project work, so it never piles up

Inside a useful ICSE session

Because CISCE marks presentation as well as content, a good tutor makes the student write during the lesson, not just listen. Open with the student's own attempt at a couple of questions from the last topic, marked line by line for missing steps, units, labels and unclear sentences. Teach the new idea from the textbook, then stretch it with specimen-paper questions. Close with a single full answer written against the clock. Over a month, the corrections should shrink; if the same comments keep appearing, the approach needs to change.

ISC: rules to plan around

  • English plus three to five electives, with a ceiling of six subjects.
  • Subjects are fixed after 15 September of the Class 11 registration year; a Class 12 subject must have been studied in Class 11.
  • Class 12 entry needs 35% in four subjects including English, and 75% attendance; there is no promotion on trial.
  • Practical papers are compulsory where they exist; some pairings, such as Physics with Engineering Science, are barred.
  • Grades are 1 to 9; the pass certificate needs four or more subjects including English, plus Socially Useful Productive Work and Community Service.

ISC Mathematics has a three-hour theory paper for 80 marks and project work for 20, in both Class 11 and 12. See the ISC maths tutor page and the ICSE and ISC maths guide.

From Class 6 to Class 12

The tutor's job at each stage of the CISCE route
StageAssessmentFocus
Classes 6 to 8SchoolWriting at length, careful maths working, science vocabulary

Class 10ICSE papers and internal workSpecimen papers and examiner reports, timed
Class 11School; promotion ruleElective choice and the step up
Class 12ISC papers, practicals and projectsDepth and deadlines

After Class 10

ICSE students can continue into ISC, move to CBSE, or join the State Board's higher secondary course. Staying with CISCE keeps the familiar answer style while the electives deepen sharply. Moving to CBSE brings NCERT books, sample papers and a different theory-practical balance, though the maths and science carry over. Moving to the State Board means its own textbooks and the scheme in its notices. In every case, decide the Class 11 subjects early; ISC allows no changes after mid-September.

Tutors who specialise in ICSE and ISC can be harder to find than general tutors, so for a single ISC elective the right person may live across the city or teach online. Home lessons work well for written ICSE work up to Class 10; online maths and science need the tutor to watch the working live. All areas are on the Coimbatore home tuition page, with timing tips in the Coimbatore tuition guide.

ICSE and ISC demo checklist

  1. Watch whether the tutor insists on every step in maths and marks method as an examiner would.
  2. Ask which specimen papers and examiner reports they work from.
  3. Test all three sciences, not just the tutor's favourite.
  4. For English and History, see whether they correct expression and structure.
  5. For ISC, ask how they support projects and practical records while leaving the work to your child.
  6. For Class 11, ask how they would advise on electives before the September cut-off.

Fees and getting started

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. For ICSE and ISC in Coimbatore, the class, number of papers, closeness of the exams and the tutor's travel shape the fee. See the Coimbatore fees guide and the pricing guide.

ICSE Home Tutor in Coimbatore (ICSE & ISC, Classes 6–12): common questions

What should our message say to get an ICSE or ISC tutor to our Coimbatore home?

To get an ICSE or ISC tutor to your Coimbatore home, say ICSE or ISC, the class, subjects, area and free hours, and which papers worry you most. We shortlist two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.

Does the number of ICSE papers change a tutor's fee in Coimbatore?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. For ICSE and ISC in Coimbatore, the class, the number of papers, how close the exams are and the tutor's travel shape the fee, which you see before the demo.

What three habits make an ICSE or ISC tutor effective in Coimbatore?

An effective ICSE or ISC tutor in Coimbatore plans a revision cycle across every chapter, sets timed written practice and watches each subject's project work. Those three habits matter more than brilliance in any one topic, because the challenge on CISCE papers is usually breadth.

In what broad ways does ICSE differ from the Tamil Nadu State Board for Coimbatore children?

For Coimbatore children, ICSE examines science as three separate subjects and expects full organised sentences with working and labelled diagrams. Its senior years run under the same council as ISC, with electives fixed early in Class 11. For a fuller comparison, see our CBSE, ICSE, IB or IGCSE guide.

How are ICSE Class 10 maths and the three science papers assessed for Coimbatore students?

For Coimbatore students, ICSE Class 10 Mathematics is one three-hour, 80-mark paper plus 20 internal marks from at least two assignments. Physics, Chemistry and Biology are separate two-hour papers of 80 marks, each with 20 internal practical marks, so strength in one science does not protect the others.

How can a Coimbatore ICSE Class 10 student keep every paper moving each week?

A Coimbatore ICSE Class 10 student keeps every paper moving with a written weekly rhythm. One session covers maths with specimen-paper questions, another the weakest science, with timed History and Geography answers and an English composition in self-study. Group III project work goes to the weekend so it never piles up.

What ISC rules should a Coimbatore family know before Class 11 starts?

A Coimbatore family should know that ISC takes English plus three to five electives, six subjects at most, fixed after 15 September of Class 11. A Class 12 subject must have been studied in Class 11. Class 12 entry needs 35% in four subjects including English and 75% attendance, with no promotion on trial.

Where can a Coimbatore ICSE student go after Class 10?

A Coimbatore ICSE student can continue into ISC, move to CBSE, or join the State Board's higher secondary course after Class 10. Staying with CISCE keeps the familiar answer style, while CBSE brings NCERT books and a different theory-practical balance. In every case, decide Class 11 subjects early.

For a single ISC elective in Coimbatore, is an online specialist better than a nearby general tutor?

For a single ISC elective in Coimbatore, an online or cross-city specialist often fits better than a nearby general tutor, since CISCE specialists are harder to find. Home tuition still suits written ICSE work up to Class 10, where steps, units and labels are marked as they appear. Online maths and science need the tutor to watch the working live.

What should a Coimbatore ICSE demo class prove about the tutor?

A Coimbatore ICSE demo class should prove the tutor insists on every maths step and marks method as an examiner would. Ask which specimen papers and examiner reports they use, test all three sciences, and for ISC, ask how they support projects and practical records while leaving the work to your child.
