Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

A CBSE school in Panaji teaches the same national curriculum as a CBSE school anywhere in India, from NCERT books, with board examinations in Class 10 and Class 12. What is particular to tuition here is the setting: the Goa Board runs alongside CBSE with its own books, Class 9 papers and exam months, and a tutor may teach students of both. A CBSE family needs a tutor who keeps strictly to the CBSE track. Read on for the stage-by-stage priorities, this session's rule changes for the secondary years, the senior-class mark split, a side-by-side with the Goa Board, a week that copes with the monsoon and notes on five localities. The maths guidance falls under Abhinandan Tiwary's role (Class 10 CBSE and ICSE maths) and the science guidance under Aaditya Kashyap's (CBSE and ICSE science).
Main subjects in Classes 9 and 10 still divide 100 marks into 80 for the written paper and 20 assessed in school, and a pass needs 33%. Roughly half of each paper now asks students to use what they know on a case, a table of data or an everyday situation, instead of reproducing it.
In Class 9, maths and science are each examined through a single paper that the whole class sits. Alongside it sits an optional Advanced paper per subject: one hour, 25 marks, wholly higher-order questions on additional material. Its result stays out of the aggregate, though scoring at least half appears on the marksheet. Standard versus Basic maths is on its way out; this session's Class 10 is the final batch to choose between them.
For Class 10 there are now two board sittings. The first is for everyone. After passing it, a student may return for the second and try to raise as many as three subjects chosen from maths, science, social science and the languages. Plan as if the first sitting is the only one; the second is a safety net for a specific subject, not a rehearsal. A third language is also compulsory during this transition and is marked by the school. Topic help: preparing for Class 10 maths and our science notes for Class 10.
| Subjects (code) | Theory | Other |
|---|---|---|
| Sciences: Physics 042, Chemistry 043, Biology 044 | 70 | Practical, 30 |
| Maths: Mathematics 041 or Applied Mathematics 241 (a student takes one) | 80 | Internal, 20 |
| Commerce: Accountancy 055, Economics 030, Business Studies 054 | 80 | Internal, 20 |
Nothing from the Class 12 syllabus is left out of the board paper, and each session's design is fixed by that year's sample paper, so a tutor using last year's copy is already behind. In the sciences the 30 practical marks reward a complete record and a confident viva, which a home tutor can rehearse without any apparatus. Subject guides: physics strategies for Class 12, Class 12 organic and inorganic chemistry and Class 12 calculus and algebra.
The subjects overlap more than parents expect; the books, the Class 9 arrangements and the exam calendar are where the two boards part. A tutor who teaches both should keep them separate in your child's notebook.
| Point | CBSE | Goa Board (from gbshse.in) |
|---|---|---|
| Books | NCERT | Textbooks the board prescribes and prepares |
| Class 9 | School examinations, with the optional Advanced paper | Semester I and Semester II papers sent out by the board and held in schools |
| Class 10 | Two board exams, the first compulsory | The Grade 10 examination in March, with a supplementary in June |
| Class 12 | One main board exam; practicals within school | HSSC in February, practicals in January, supplementary in May |
After a switch to CBSE in Class 11, the opening weeks belong to NCERT's language and to case-based questions. A switch in the opposite direction calls for the Goa Board's prescribed books and its past papers from day one. The Goa Board tutor in Panaji page explains that board.
Since around half of each Class 9 and 10 paper uses unfamiliar contexts, exercise-only tuition misses a large share of the marks. Such questions reward careful reading as much as subject knowledge. A routine in four steps:
At the demo, ask the tutor to pick one such question and teach it to your child. Within a few lines you will see whether the tutor knows this session's paper.
| Subject or task | Usual week | Very wet week |
|---|---|---|
| Maths | Two home sessions after school | One at home, one online with the same tutor |
| Science | One home session and a short online check | Both online; diagrams and equations shown to the camera |
| Practice | One competency-style set at the weekend | The same set, marked online |
| Board run-up | One complete sample paper a week, reviewed together | Paper written at home, discussed online |
Younger children, and maths up to Class 10, gain most from a tutor sitting beside the page. Concept work, chapter tests and doubt sessions in science suit online well, and a senior-class specialist is often easier to find online; see online tutors for Panaji and our home or online comparison. Subject pages: maths, science, physics, chemistry and English in Panaji.

A Panaji family should plan the CBSE Class 10 year as though the compulsory first sitting is the only one. After passing, a student may sit the second to raise as many as three subjects from maths, science, social science and the languages. Treat it as a safety net for a specific subject, not a rehearsal.
The CBSE Class 9 Advanced paper suits a Panaji student who is comfortable with the regular paper and enjoys harder problems. It is a one-hour, 25-mark paper of higher-order questions on additional material. The result stays out of the aggregate, though scoring at least half is recorded on the marksheet.
Yes, a Panaji tutor can teach both boards if the two tracks stay apart in the notebook. CBSE works from NCERT books and its own sample papers, while the Goa Board prescribes its own textbooks and sends Class 9 semester papers to schools. Ask at the demo which current CBSE sample paper the tutor uses.
A Panaji student switching from the Goa Board to CBSE in Class 11 should spend the opening weeks on NCERT's language and on case-based questions. The CBSE Class 12 board paper covers the whole year's syllabus, and each session's design is fixed by that year's sample paper. A switch the other way needs the Goa Board's books.
For Panaji students in CBSE Classes 11 and 12, physics, chemistry and biology carry 70 theory marks plus 30 practical. Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, accountancy, economics and business studies carry 80 theory and 20 internal. A home tutor can rehearse the practical record and viva without any apparatus.
A Panaji student handles CBSE case-based questions, now roughly half of each Class 9 and 10 paper, by underlining the data and the actual question first. Then find the familiar chapter in the new setting, answer each sub-part separately and write the reasoning, because a bare answer earns little.
For a Panaji CBSE child, maths up to Class 10 and younger classes gain most from a tutor beside the page, so keep those at home where possible. In very wet weeks, one maths session and science checks can move online with the same tutor, with diagrams and equations shown to the camera.
CBSE tutors reach Panaji localities including Campal, Taleigao, Dona Paula, Bambolim and Penha de Franca. In Taleigao give the building or ward and the parish church as a landmark; in Dona Paula name the approach road and confirm parking. In Bambolim arrange gate entry, and on the north bank avoid the bridges at office hours.
At a Panaji CBSE demo, ask which rules changed for Classes 9 and 10 this session, and whether the Advanced paper suits your child. Ask about the plan for the first Class 10 sitting, which current sample paper they use, and how CBSE work stays separate from any Goa Board teaching.
