Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Senior physics asks two things of a student at once: derivations and diagrams written out for a board examiner, and quick, accurate problem-solving for JEE or NEET if either is on the plan. In Puducherry a third question comes first: which syllabus is the student on, now that government schools have moved from the state syllabus to CBSE and some private schools still teach for the state-board +2? A home physics tutor's job is to keep all of that in one weekly plan. NXTutors suggests two or three physics tutors who know your child's target and can reach your part of town in the evening. Each fee is shown up front, and the first lesson is a free demo.
Most chapters overlap between exams, but each one pays marks for a different skill. Settle the main target at the start, because the practice a tutor sets depends on it.
| Exam | Physics in it | Scoring | Skill it rewards |
|---|---|---|---|
| CBSE Class 12 physics (042) | A 70-mark theory paper with 33 compulsory questions, and a 30-mark practical | Written answers; calculators not allowed | Clear derivations, labelled diagrams, careful reading of case passages |
| State-board +2 physics | Set by the state board whose syllabus the school follows | Confirm with the school and the board's own notices | Teaching from the prescribed textbook and that board's past papers |
| JEE Main (2026 pattern) | 25 questions, one third of the paper; 5 of them need a numerical answer | Plus four for a right answer, minus one for a wrong one | Multi-step problems against the clock |
| JEE Advanced | In 2026, open only to the leading 2,50,000 JEE Main candidates | Fixed by the organising institute each year | Problems that join several ideas together |
| NEET (UG), 2026 paper | 45 of the 180 questions, worth 180 of the 720 marks, answered on paper | Plus four, minus one | Accurate NCERT-level physics and fewer guesses |
Each entrance syllabus is published by its conducting body, not by a school board, and it can keep topics a board has dropped, so read the current bulletin on nta.ac.in before crossing anything off. For chapter priorities, see our JEE physics topic-wise plan and the high-yield NEET physics chapters; the physics tutor for JEE and physics tutor for NEET pages explain how we match.
Puducherry has no school board of its own. The Directorate of School Education's result pages list Class 12 results as +2 up to 2024 and as CBSE 12 from 2025, after orientation sessions in 2024 on a smooth swap from the state syllabus to CBSE. From 2026 the Directorate also publishes separate state-board +2 analyses for private schools in the Puducherry and Karaikal regions.
For physics this has two practical effects. A student now on CBSE should study from the NCERT books and practise from CBSE sample papers, where case-based questions and assertion–reason items appear alongside long derivations. A student whose school still follows the state-board +2 needs a tutor who teaches from that prescribed textbook and its own past papers; this page does not describe that paper, so take the current scheme from the school. In both cases, if JEE or NEET is planned, the tutor should map the school syllabus against the NTA syllabus early so that no entrance topic is left for the last term. Our CBSE home tutor in Puducherry page covers the move between syllabuses in more detail.
The 2026-27 sample paper keeps the previous session's design. Fourteen NCERT chapters are grouped into four blocks for marking:
| Block | Marks of 70 | What the tutor checks |
|---|---|---|
| Electricity and magnetism, electrostatics through alternating current | 33 | Field and circuit diagrams with directions marked; derivations written in full |
| Optics and electromagnetic waves | 18 | Ray diagrams with arrows and sign conventions stated |
| Modern physics: dual nature, atoms and nuclei | 12 | Short numericals with units and powers of ten |
| Semiconductor electronics | 7 | Current notes only; transistors and logic gates are no longer in the syllabus |
All 33 questions must be attempted. Section A opens with sixteen one-mark items, twelve multiple-choice and four assertion–reason; Section B has five two-mark answers, Section C seven three-mark answers, Section D two four-mark case studies and Section E three five-mark long answers. Only around 38% of the marks reward recall; constants are supplied and no calculator is allowed. Class 12 has one main board exam, and the 2027 dates are awaited on cbse.gov.in. Our Class 12 physics strategies collect the derivations that recur, and the Class 12 physics tutor page sets out a board year.
A large part of them, yes, even though the apparatus stays in the school lab. The 30 marks are made up of 14 for two experiments (7 each, one from each section), 5 for the record, 3 for an activity, 3 for the investigatory project and 5 for the viva. The record must hold at least eight experiments, four from each section, at least six activities, three from each, and the project report.
At home a tutor can read every record entry for its aim, diagram and observation table, rehearse precautions and sources of error, help the student choose a project that can genuinely be finished, and run a mock viva with questions such as why several readings are taken or what the slope of a graph tells you.
Whether or not your child also attends a coaching class, two sessions a week usually work for Classes 11 and 12. Give each a different job:
If a coaching class is already teaching new chapters, the home tutor should not repeat the lecture. Our articles on JEE coaching or a home tutor and NEET coaching or a home tutor weigh the options, and the JEE and NEET home tutor pages for Puducherry cover entrance preparation across subjects.
Physics marks are lost far more often in the setting-out than in the formula. A tutor should ask for the same four steps in every problem until they become automatic: first a diagram with directions and known quantities marked; then the law or principle named in words; then the substitution, with units carried on every line; and finally a check that the sign and size of the answer are sensible. Keep one notebook for errors, with the question, the first attempt left as it was, a line on what went wrong, and a clean solution written a few days later without looking. Bring that notebook, or the last two test papers, to the free demo; a capable tutor should be able to name the weak step from them before teaching anything new.
Senior students often get home late, so physics lessons tend to fall in the evening, when the busiest roads are at their slowest. Six areas from the old town and the south show the arrangements that help; find every area on our Puducherry page.
| Area | Getting in | Tip for the evening slot |
|---|---|---|
| White Town | Houses with their own street door; street name and house number are enough. Puducherry railway station on the southern boulevard is close for tutors who come by train | Evenings and weekends bring visitors to the seafront streets, so prefer weekday slots and a two-wheeler |
| Muthialpet | Mostly independent houses; Karuvadikuppam Road links it to the Lawspet side | A tutor from the old town or Oulgaret can reach it; allow a margin near the market at peak hours |
| Mudaliarpet | Houses on side streets allow doorstep arrival; apartment gates may ask visitors to sign in | Office-hour traffic on the Cuddalore road; a tutor from Mudaliarpet or nearby wards is steadier |
| Ariyankuppam | Grid streets that make houses easy to find; local buses from Puducherry pass through | Give the cross-street name; choose a tutor living locally for late slots |
| Manavely | Bus route 2A runs through it; ask whether the home is a house or a flat with a gate | Plan around festival days at nearby Veerampattinam |
| Thavalakuppam | Plotted roads off the Cuddalore highway, usually with the home's own gate | A slightly earlier or later slot avoids the highway's peak traffic |
On evenings when the trip is not worth it, switch that lesson to an online hour with the same tutor. Families in Lawspet, Kalapet, Reddiarpalayam or Villianur will find their areas in the Lawspet and ECR and Reddiarpalayam and Villianur zone guides.
Teachers for these courses are fewer, so mention the course in your request; an online specialist can fill the gap when nobody nearby is free.
Usually it is the cheaper time. Mechanics in Class 11 rests on vectors, graphs and calculus-style reasoning that return throughout Class 12, and a gap left there costs marks in both the board paper and the entrance tests. A term spent making those foundations firm saves a harder rescue in the board year. See the Class 11 physics tutor page and our stream choice guide.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fees. The target (board paper, JEE Main, JEE Advanced or NEET), the tutor's experience with it, the evening trip to your area and the number of weekly sessions all play a part, and the same tutor may quote differently for online lessons. All fees are on the shortlist before the demo; the Puducherry home tuition fees article explains what to ask.
Tell us the class, the syllabus (CBSE, state-board +2, ISC, IB or IGCSE), the main goal (board paper, JEE or NEET), any coaching days, your area with a landmark, and the evenings still free. We send two or three physics tutors with their fees, and you pick one for a free demo. A poor fit leads to a second demo with another tutor, and changing tutor later is free. Tutors who join go through an ID check before their profile is marked Verified. If nobody suitable can reach you at your hour, we suggest an online or mixed plan. NXTutors works from Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online across India; the national physics home tutor page shows how we match elsewhere, and the chemistry home tutor in Puducherry page covers the companion subject.
Physics teachers living in Puducherry can find open requests close to home on the Puducherry tuition jobs page.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own rates, usually by target exam, and each fee shows before the demo.
Study moves to the NCERT books, and CBSE papers mix long derivations with case-based and assertion–reason questions. A tutor should map earlier learning against the NCERT chapters, practise from CBSE sample papers, and check early that every topic needed for JEE or NEET is covered.
Yes. Some private schools in Puducherry still follow the state-board +2 syllabus. We look for tutors who teach from the prescribed textbook and that board's own past papers. We do not describe the +2 paper here, so confirm the current scheme with the school and ask the tutor at the demo how the year will run.
Electricity and magnetism lead with 33 of the 70 theory marks. Optics with electromagnetic waves carries 18, modern physics 12 and semiconductor electronics 7. All 33 questions are compulsory, about 38% of marks reward recall, and the practical exam adds a further 30 marks on top of the theory paper.
In JEE Main 2026 Paper 1, physics was one third: 25 questions, five of them with a numerical answer. In NEET (UG) 2026 it was 45 of the 180 questions, worth 180 of the 720 marks. Both exams gave plus four for a correct answer and minus one for a wrong one.
Quite a lot. The tutor can check each record entry for aim, diagram and observation table, go over precautions and sources of error, help choose a manageable project and run a mock viva. Experiments carry 14 of the 30 marks, the record and viva 5 each, and the activity and project 3 each.
We look for tutors living on that side of town. In Mudaliarpet, apartment gates may ask visitors to sign in, so share the building name; in Ariyankuppam, give the cross-street. The Cuddalore road is busy at peak hours, so a locally based tutor keeps evening lessons steadier.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
