Science tutor jobs in Aizawl

Does a science tutor in Aizawl need to cover physics, chemistry and biology, or can you teach just one? Up to Class 10, families usually want one steady teacher for all three, because the subject is examined as one paper and one person can see which strand is slipping. That is true for the Mizoram board's HSLC and for CBSE alike. The difference between those two routes lies in the books and the paper, and a tutor who knows both is easy to recommend.

Who asks for science tutors in Aizawl

In HSLC science, the pressure falls on a three-section paper and a practical record that is easy to neglect. The board's question design treats science as a theory-and-practical subject: a three-hour theory paper of 70 marks, a 10-mark practical conducted by the school and reported to the board, and up to 20 internal-assessment marks. The theory paper has 39 questions, from fourteen one-mark objective items and seven one-mark very short answers to eight two-mark, seven three-mark and three four-mark answers, set in three sections for physics, chemistry and biology, so a weak strand cannot hide. The design lists 16 units, including sources of energy, periodic classification and the management of natural resources, chapters a tutor used only to the current CBSE list might skip. Of the 10 practical marks, 5 are for the exercise, 2 for the viva and 3 for the record book, a mark each for regular submission, proper recording and neatness, which are the easiest marks in the subject to lose by drift.

The board supplies good material. For 2026-27 it prescribes bilingual Secondary Science textbooks for Class 10, one each for physics, chemistry and biology, plus a book on experimental skills, and its Class 10 competency-based item bank, issued in November 2025, adds 111 science questions (32 physics, 32 chemistry and 47 biology) with marking schemes. Past HSLC papers from 2021 to 2025 are on the board's site.

CBSE students form the other large group. Their 80-mark board paper weights Chemical Substances and World of Living at 25 marks each, Effects of Current 13, Natural Phenomena 12 and Our Environment 5, and the school adds 20 marks. Three areas, generators and motors, evolution and the periodic arrangement of elements, are assessed by the school this year. In the middle-school years, requests are about understanding activities, writing short explanations and drawing neat diagrams, and English is in general the medium of instruction in MBSE-affiliated schools, so clear scientific English matters from the start. ICSE science, set as three separate papers, is less common here and often taught online.

Where in Aizawl the work is

Science homework often needs a quiet table and an hour after school, which on Aizawl's slopes means a building reached by stairs from the road. Plan your round inside one cluster. In the north, the chain from Durtlang through Chaltlang and Bawngkawn to Ramhlun and Zemabawk lets one tutor cover several homes, though the climb to Durtlang slows in heavy rain. The central localities of Chanmari, Zarkawt and Dawrpui are reachable from almost anywhere, but Bara Bazar and the offices around McDonald Hill make some hours slow, and Chanmari and Chanmari West sit in different wards.

On the west side, Tuikual, Vaivakawn and Luangmual are separated by deep valleys, so confirm the road route, not just the map; Vaivakawn is the meeting point that is easiest from both sides. In the south, Khatla, Mission Veng, Bethlehem and Kulikawn each form their own cluster, and roads near Mualpui in Salem Veng crowd on match days. Heavy rain from April to October is the main reason many science tutors here mix home and online lessons through the term.

What families in Aizawl expect

  • Confidence across physics, chemistry and biology to Class 10, with the HSLC three-section layout in mind.
  • Coverage of every unit the board lists, including sources of energy, periodic classification and natural resource management.
  • Regular checks on the practical record book, with aim, diagram, observations and result written up.
  • A few practice viva questions before the practical exam.
  • Practice from the board's item bank and past HSLC papers, marked against the schemes.
  • Clear scientific English, with the bilingual textbook used where a student needs it.
  • For CBSE, attention to both the board paper and the school-assessed topics.
  • A dependable plan for rainy days, such as an online lesson at the usual hour.

How to get picked

Your profile should make the family's choice easy. Name the boards and classes, say that you teach all three sciences or which ones you prefer, and list only the localities you reach in one trip: a tutor in Tuikual might keep to Tuikual, Dinthar and Vaivakawn, while one in Bawngkawn might cover Chaltlang and Ramhlun. Add a line on method, such as chapter tests every two weeks and a monthly look at the record book.

In the free demo, ask the student to explain one process from biology, balance an equation and solve a short electricity numerical, then open the practical record and point out what is missing. A parent who sees you find three specific gaps in one class has a clear reason to choose you. Mention how you will keep lessons going through heavy rain; families in a hill city value that more than almost anything else.

Joining, leads and pay

Joining is free

Applying, onboarding, building your profile, the ID check and receiving matched requests on the Free plan cost nothing. The Free plan gives you 160 lead credits every month.

Paid plans are optional

Pro, Premium and Featured are optional platform subscriptions: more visibility, AI tools and more lead credits. They are never a fee to apply for a tuition. See tutor plans.

How leads and credits work

A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.

How you get paid

You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

Questions from tutors

How is HSLC science examined in Aizawl?

As a 70-mark theory paper in physics, chemistry and biology sections, a 10-mark school practical reported to the board, and up to 20 internal-assessment marks. The question design and textbook list are on mbse.edu.in.

Where do HSLC students lose easy science marks?

Often in the practical record, which carries 3 marks for regularity, recording and neatness, and in units a tutor skips because they are not on the current CBSE list. Regular record checks and full coverage of the board's 16 units fix both.

Do Aizawl families want separate tutors for each science?

Rarely below Class 11. One tutor for all three usually suits Classes 6 to 10. ICSE families, with three separate papers, sometimes split the subjects or add an online tutor.

Which localities should a science tutor list in Aizawl?

Those you can reach in one trip without crossing a valley at a busy hour. Families live in buildings above and below the road, so a short list of a single cluster keeps visits on time.

Can I teach science online from Aizawl?

Yes. Online lessons suit rainy days for local students and let you teach families anywhere in India who choose online tuition. Turn the mode on in your profile.

Is there a charge for science tutors to sign up?

No. Joining is free, the Free plan includes monthly lead credits and paid plans are optional. You set your own fee; see how you get paid in the section below.
