Science tutor jobs in Prayagraj

A Class 8 student in Kalindipuram who can recite the parts of a cell but cannot explain why a candle goes out under a jar is a typical science request. Parents in Prayagraj rarely ask for a science tutor because a child has failed; they ask because marks have started to slip in Class 8 or 9 and the textbook has become a list of terms to memorise. A good science tutor turns that list back into ideas the child can explain, draw and apply.

This page is for teachers who can handle general science from the middle school years to the Class 10 board, covering physics, chemistry and biology together. It explains which boards and classes ask for science in this city, how the five NXTutors zones affect where you can teach, what families expect and how to stand out at the free demo. Requests come from families, not job posts: you appear on a shortlist of two or three when your profile matches the class, board, medium and locality.

Who asks for science tutors in Prayagraj

Three boards shape science requests here. The UP Board, run by Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad from its headquarters in Prayagraj, conducts the High School examination at the end of Class 10, and its students may write in Hindi or English. CBSE students follow NCERT science, where each chapter mixes concept questions, numericals, diagrams and activity-based items. ICSE students in Class 9 and 10 study physics, chemistry and biology as separate papers with long written answers, which changes the shape of a weekly lesson.

The middle school years, Classes 6 to 8, are where foundations are laid: measurement and motion, acids, bases and salts, the cell, nutrition and light. Gaps here appear later as confusion over balancing equations or ray diagrams. Class 9 is a clear turning point; the city's own notes say science gets noticeably harder that year, just as many students join a coaching batch. Motion and force, atoms and molecules, and the structure of tissues arrive together, and parents want someone who can keep all three strands moving.

Class 10 is the board year. Families want chapter-wise revision, practice with the board's own papers, and training in labelled diagrams and complete written reasoning. For UP Board students, take patterns and model papers only from upmsp.edu.in; for CBSE, use the sample papers and marking schemes at cbseacademic.nic.in; for ICSE, the specimen papers at cisce.org. After Class 10, science splits into physics, chemistry and biology, so if you teach Class 11 and 12 as well, list those subjects separately on your profile.

Where in Prayagraj the work is

If you live north of the railway line, the Civil Lines and Central zone (Civil Lines, George Town, Tagore Town, Ashok Nagar) and Katra and Allahpur (Katra, Allahpur, Mumfordganj) are compact enough for two science lessons on one evening, as long as you avoid Katra's bazaar hours. Apartment buildings in Civil Lines ask your name at the gate, while Mumfordganj homes are mostly colony houses with block and house numbers. South of the line, Chowk and Old City lanes around Chowk, Johnstonganj, Lukerganj, Dariyabad and Rambagh suit a two-wheeler or rickshaw; agree a landmark before the demo.

West Prayagraj, from Kareli and Dhoomanganj to Rajrooppur, Kalindipuram and Jhalwa, is spread out, and newer pockets can be hard to find without a map pin. Across the rivers, Naini, Jhunsi and Phaphamau favour tutors who already live there. Science demonstrations are easier in person, but much of a revision lesson works online: a shared screen for diagrams, a camera on the student's notebook and a short quiz at the end. Many tutors keep younger students at home and older revision students online.

What families in Prayagraj expect

  • Comfort with all three strands, physics, chemistry and biology, up to Class 10.
  • Explanations in the student's medium, Hindi or English, using the textbook's own terms.
  • Neat, labelled diagrams and the habit of making the student draw them, not copy them.
  • Simple at-home demonstrations or everyday examples to make an idea stick.
  • Board-specific practice: UP Board model papers, CBSE sample papers, or ICSE specimen papers.
  • Regular short tests with written feedback a parent can read.
  • A lesson time that does not clash with the student's school or coaching timetable.

How to get picked

Profiles that win science requests are specific about range. Say which classes you cover, whether you teach all three sciences or prefer one, which boards and medium you work in, and the Prayagraj localities you will visit. If you have taught ICSE physics, chemistry and biology as separate papers, mention it; ICSE families look for that experience. Keep the list of localities short and honest, because a parent expects the same slot all term.

In the demo, pick one idea the student finds hard, such as balancing a chemical equation, a ray diagram or the difference between speed and velocity, and teach it with a quick example from the room around you. Then ask the student to explain it back in their own words. End by telling the parent which chapters you would revisit first and how you will test progress. The fee is already on your profile; the tutor terms page explains how you get paid.

Joining, leads and pay

Joining is free

Applying, onboarding, building your profile, the ID check and receiving matched requests on the Free plan cost nothing. The Free plan gives you 160 lead credits every month.

Paid plans are optional

Pro, Premium and Featured are optional platform subscriptions: more visibility, AI tools and more lead credits. They are never a fee to apply for a tuition. See tutor plans.

How leads and credits work

A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.

How you get paid

You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

Questions from tutors

Is science tuition in Prayagraj mostly for Class 9 and 10?

Those years come up often because science gets harder in Class 9 and Class 10 ends with the board exam. Middle school classes also ask for science when foundations are weak. We do not publish counts, so list every class you can teach well.

Do UP Board science students need a Hindi-medium tutor?

Some do. A student who writes the High School paper in Hindi needs explanations and terms in Hindi; others study in English. State your medium on your profile, and ask each family at the first contact which one the student writes in.

How is ICSE science different to teach?

ICSE splits science into physics, chemistry and biology papers in Classes 9 and 10, each with long written answers. Plan lessons per subject, practise full written answers, and use the specimen papers published at cisce.org.

Can I teach practical science in a family's home?

Simple demonstrations with household items help, and many students remember an idea far better after seeing it. Keep anything risky out of the home; school labs handle practical work. Online, use videos and diagrams on a shared screen instead.

Which Prayagraj zones are easiest for an evening science lesson?

The one you live in. North of the line, Civil Lines and Katra and Allahpur sit close together; across the rivers, Naini, Jhunsi and Phaphamau favour local tutors. Market hours in Katra and Chowk and bridge traffic slow evening trips, so plan around them.

Can I list only Class 11 physics or biology instead of general science?

Yes. After Class 10, science splits into separate subjects, so list physics, chemistry or biology on their own if that is your strength. Families searching for senior science look for the specific subject.
