Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Somewhere between Class 6 and Class 10, science stops being a set of interesting observations and becomes three subjects with numericals, equations and labelled diagrams. In Prayagraj that change arrives through several routes: the UP Board's High School course, often studied and answered in Hindi; CBSE with the NCERT books; or the ICSE texts a school chooses. The right science tutor teaches from the book your child actually carries, can reach your home at a regular hour after school, and trains careful written answers well before the board year. NXTutors sends two or three tutors who can do that, shows each fee up front, and makes the first lesson a free demo.
Aaditya Kashyap writes the CBSE and ICSE guidance on this page. The first thing he would ask any family is which board sets the Class 10 paper, because the book, the language of answers and the shape of the exam all follow from it.
| Board | Class 10 exam | Tutor works from | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| UP Board (UPMSP) | High School science: 70 written, 30 practical | Board-authorised books and the board's model paper | Answers in the medium the child writes, often Hindi |
| CBSE | 80 in the board paper, 20 in school | NCERT books and CBSE sample papers | Topics the school marks instead of the board |
| CISCE (ICSE) | Physics, Chemistry and Biology as three papers | The texts your school has chosen and CISCE specimen papers | One weak paper needing its own attention |
The national science home tutor page sets out our general approach; this guide adds what is particular to Prayagraj.
The UP Board, whose head office is in Prayagraj, sets High School science as a 70-mark written paper plus a 30-mark practical examination. A pass needs 23 in the paper and 10 in the practical. The written marks fall across five units:
| Unit | Marks | Practice that pays |
|---|---|---|
| Chemical substances | 20 | Balanced equations written out weekly, with names of compounds learnt in the answer language |
| World of living | 20 | Labelled diagrams of life processes drawn from memory, then checked |
| Effects of current | 13 | Circuit numericals with the formula, substitution and unit on separate lines |
| Natural phenomena | 12 | Ray diagrams with arrows on every ray |
| Natural resources | 5 | Short notes revised, not left to the last week |
Chemistry and biology units together hold 40 of the 70, so a tutor who is strong only in physics is not enough here. The practical carries real weight too, which makes the record and the viva worth a session or two before the school holds it. Our UP Board tutors in Prayagraj page covers the board's other subjects.
The board's science model paper opens with a reading period, then splits into two sections. Section A is one-mark multiple-choice questions answered on an OMR sheet; Section B is descriptive. Both are divided into three sub-sections, and the instructions ask for each Section B sub-section to be answered together, starting on a fresh page. The model paper is set in Hindi.
Those rules turn into three habits a tutor can drill at home:
The written board paper carries 80 marks. The school awards the remaining 20, five each for periodic tests, multiple assessment, the portfolio and practical-based subject enrichment. By subject, biology takes 30 of the 80 and chemistry and physics 25 each. By unit: Chemical Substances 25, World of Living 25, Effects of Current 13, Natural Phenomena 12 and Our Environment 5. Half the paper checks knowledge and understanding, 30% application and 20% analysis and evaluation.
The 2026-27 sample paper has 39 questions: twenty one-mark items (multiple-choice and assertion–reason), six two-mark answers, seven three-mark answers, three four-mark case or source questions and three five-mark long answers. Three areas are assessed only by the school this session and stay out of the board paper: the electric motor, electromagnetic induction and the generator; evolution; and the arrangement of elements in the periodic table. They still deserve proper teaching because they come back in Class 11. The curriculum lists 14 experiments that board questions draw on, so the practical file doubles as revision.
Every student sits one compulsory main exam, and eligible students may take an optional second sitting to improve up to three subjects, science among them; 2027 dates will appear on cbse.gov.in. The CBSE Class 10 science notes go chapter by chapter, and the Class 10 science tutor page shows how we plan the year.
Yes. The 2026-27 curriculum follows NCERT's new Class 9 book, Exploration. The exam remains 80 plus 20 internal, now across four units: Matter, its nature and behaviour, 27; World of living, 25; Motion, force, work and sound, 23; and Earth as a system, 5. Notes inherited from an older cousin follow the old book, so the tutor should plan from the new chapter list. More on the Class 9 science tutor page.
ICSE splits Class 10 science into three separate CISCE papers, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, each with its own internal assessment. Schools pick their own textbooks within the CISCE syllabus, so a tutor must work from your child's books and from CISCE specimen papers, not an NCERT plan. Exact definitions and complete numericals win ICSE marks. Many families need help with just one of the three, usually from Class 9. ICSE-experienced science tutors are fewer than CBSE ones, so ask early, and consider online lessons for that paper.
The middle years are where good habits are cheap to form. CBSE schools now use NCERT's Curiosity books in Classes 6 and 7; other schools use their own texts. Whatever the book, a tutor in these years should aim for four things:
Up to Class 10, one tutor for all three sciences usually works well, because the same person can tell whether a physics numerical is failing on the arithmetic or the idea. See the Class 6 science tutor and Class 8 science tutor pages.
For a younger child the lesson sits between school and dinner, so a short, predictable trip matters more than anything. Prayagraj has no metro; tutors come by two-wheeler, auto or rickshaw. Browse by locality on the Prayagraj page.
| Locality | Homes | Arrange in advance |
|---|---|---|
| George Town | Older houses and newer apartment buildings, just north of Civil Lines | Building name, block and floor; ask whether the gate keeps a visitor register |
| Ashok Nagar | Two- and three-bedroom flats alongside independent houses | A slot before the evening build-up on roads towards Civil Lines and Katra |
| Mumfordganj | Colonies of independent houses from the late 1930s, now with some apartment blocks | The block and house number, which is usually all a tutor needs |
| Katra | Homes in the streets behind a large market; New Katra is the most residential part | A route along a residential street and a landmark at your gate |
| Johnstonganj | Flats, builder floors and houses side by side near the city bus stand | The floor and building name; a time straight after school |
| Chowk | Older houses in narrow lanes behind the bazaar | The clock tower as a starting landmark, then the lane name and a map pin |
The Prayagraj home tuition guide adds advice for the western colonies and for Naini, Jhunsi and Phaphamau across the rivers.
Ask the tutor to teach the chapter your child is doing now, and notice whether these habits appear without being asked for: ray diagrams with arrows and dotted virtual rays; circuits with standard symbols, ammeter in series and voltmeter in parallel; life-process diagrams with labels spelt correctly; equations balanced, with state symbols where needed; and heredity crosses shown in full. The demo class checklist for parents suggests more. If the first tutor does not suit, the next demo is with someone else from your shortlist, and switching later is free as well.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets a personal fee. The class, the trip to your locality and lessons per week all shape a quote. You see every fee before the demo; the Prayagraj home tuition fees article lists the questions worth asking.
Tell us the class and board, the medium your child writes in, the strand that is hardest, your locality with a landmark, and the afternoons that suit you. We send two or three science tutors with their fees, and you pick one for a free demo class. For Prayagraj pupils, UP Board High School science gives chemical substances and the world of living 20 marks each, effects of current 13, natural phenomena 12 and natural resources 5. The written paper is worth 70 and the practical 30, with 23 and 10 needed to pass, so chemistry and biology together outweigh physics.
Yes, if your child answers in Hindi, we shortlist Prayagraj science tutors who teach comfortably in it. The UP Board science model paper is set in Hindi, so key terms and diagram labels should be practised in the language of the answer sheet. Name the medium your child writes in when you send the request.
In 2026-27, Prayagraj CBSE schools assess the electric motor, electromagnetic induction and the generator, evolution, and the periodic arrangement of elements themselves, outside the Class 10 science board paper. Teach them properly, because Class 11 builds on them, but spend board-revision weeks on the examined chapters.
One capable Prayagraj tutor can usually handle all three ICSE sciences in Classes 6 to 8. CISCE sets Physics, Chemistry and Biology as separate papers with their own internal marks. From Class 9, some families add a specialist for the weakest paper, often online, since ICSE-experienced science tutors are fewer than CBSE ones.
Usually simple in Mumfordganj, Prayagraj, where colonies of independent houses mean the block and house number are all a science tutor needs. In Katra, homes sit behind a large market, so share a route along a residential street and a landmark at your gate. An early slot after school avoids market traffic.
CBSE Class 9 science now follows NCERT's new Exploration book, so a Prayagraj tutor should plan from the new chapter list, not older notes. The exam stays 80 plus 20 internal, across Matter at 27 marks, World of living 25, Motion, force, work and sound 23, and Earth as a system 5.
Class 8 or Class 9 suits most Prayagraj children for starting science tuition, when numericals and equations arrive and the three sciences separate. Earlier support in Classes 6 and 7 helps a child who struggles with scientific words or written reasons, and it can usually be a lighter weekly arrangement.
A Prayagraj science tutor can rehearse UP Board answer-sheet rules by having each objective question worked in rough before the OMR bubble is filled once. Practise Section B on loose sheets, each sub-section starting on a fresh page, so it feels normal on the day. Labels and key terms go in the paper's language.
For Prayagraj children in Classes 6 to 10, home science tuition usually works well when the tutor lives a short, predictable trip away. The lesson sits between school and dinner. Online suits a single weak ICSE paper or a specialist further away. If nobody suitable can reach you, we suggest an online or part-online plan.
