Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Prayagraj is the home of the UP Board, and many families here know its papers well. CBSE asks for something different: every question grows out of the NCERT textbooks, a large share tests whether a child can apply an idea to an unfamiliar situation, and marks are given for each step written down. A CBSE home tutor in this city is often working with a child who speaks Hindi at home and writes the paper in English, or who has moved between the two boards. This page covers how CBSE differs from the UP Board in practice, what each class from 6 to 12 demands, the 2026-27 changes in Classes 9 and 10, the senior-school marks, how tutors reach six localities, and how to judge a tutor in the free demo. Class 10 maths notes come from Abhinandan Tiwary, who writes on Class 10 CBSE and ICSE maths, and science notes from Aaditya Kashyap, who writes on CBSE and ICSE science.
Our Prayagraj home tutors page notes that students in the city sit the UP Board, CBSE, CISCE's ICSE and ISC, and in smaller numbers IB or Cambridge IGCSE. We do not publish shares for each. What matters for a CBSE family is that plenty of tutors in Prayagraj have taught mainly UP Board students, whose High School and Intermediate papers are set by Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad from its own syllabus and model papers. The chapters overlap a great deal; the way marks are earned does not.
| Area | What CBSE expects | What to ask a tutor |
|---|---|---|
| Source of questions | NCERT text, exemplar and the year's sample paper | "Which current sample paper and marking scheme will you use?" |
| Question style | About half of each secondary paper tests application: cases, sources, data | "Show me how you teach a case-based question from a textbook paragraph." |
| Marking | Credit for each correct step, unit and labelled diagram | "How do you mark my child's written answers?" |
| Language | The paper in the medium the school follows | "Can you explain in Hindi but keep written practice in English?" |
A child changing between the two boards should spend the first few weeks on the new board's textbook vocabulary and answer format before chasing speed. Families weighing a switch can read our guide on choosing a board and stream and the UP Board tutors in Prayagraj page.
| Class | Exam set by | Typical sticking point | Most useful tuition |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 to 8 | The school | Fractions, negative numbers, reading a science paragraph closely | Repair the basics and build the habit of showing working |
| 9 | The school: an 80-mark paper and 20 internal marks | Algebra and science both widen at once | Regular chapter tests; a view on the optional Advanced paper |
| 10 | CBSE: 80 marks on paper, 20 assessed in school | Application questions and neat presentation | Sample papers marked against the official scheme |
| 11 | The school | The steep rise in physics, chemistry and maths | A firm base, especially if an entrance plan starts this year |
| 12 | CBSE: theory plus practical or internal marks | Revising two years while entrance tests compete for time | One revision plan that serves the board and any entrance exam |
At Class 10 each subject needs at least 33% to pass. In Classes 6 to 8, trouble that seems to arrive suddenly in Class 9 usually began years earlier with fractions or early algebra, so at that age a tutor is worth more as a repairer than as someone who races ahead.
Our advice: treat the first Class 10 exam as the real one and do not plan around a second chance. Choose the Advanced paper only in a subject your child already finds comfortable, because it adds work without adding to the aggregate.
The maths notes on this page are written for the role Abhinandan Tiwary covers on NXTutors, Class 10 CBSE and ICSE maths. In CBSE's paper, steps carry marks, so the commonest losses are not wrong answers but missing lines: a quadratic solved without stating the method, a construction without the reasons, a statistics table with no formula written. The tutor's job in Class 10 is to make full working automatic. A useful routine is one set of competency questions on the chapter just finished, then one fully written board answer marked against the official scheme. The Class 10 maths preparation plan sets out the chapters in order, and the maths home tutors in Prayagraj page covers the subject across boards.
The science notes follow the role Aaditya Kashyap covers, CBSE and ICSE science. CBSE's single science paper mixes physics, chemistry and biology, and a student who is strong in one can hide weakness in another until the pre-boards. Ask the tutor to keep a short record of the three strands separately: balanced equations and reaction types in chemistry, ray diagrams and circuit numericals in physics, labelled diagrams and process explanations in biology. Case-based questions often begin with a paragraph the child has not seen before, so practise reading the passage for the idea it is testing before looking at the options. The Class 10 science notes follow NCERT chapter by chapter, and the science home tutors in Prayagraj page goes further.
| Subject (code) | Theory | Practical or internal |
|---|---|---|
| Physics (042), Chemistry (043), Biology (044) | 70 | 30 practical |
| Mathematics (041) or Applied Mathematics (241), one only | 80 | 20 internal |
| Accountancy (055), Economics (030), Business Studies (054) | 80 | 20 internal |
The 30 practical marks in the sciences are earned through the year, in the laboratory and the practical file, which a coaching batch never checks. A tutor should look at the file each month. If your child is also preparing for an entrance exam, see JEE or NEET home tutors in Prayagraj. For the board year itself, our guides to Class 12 physics, organic and inorganic chemistry and calculus and algebra help; subject pages for physics and chemistry in Prayagraj cover the school side.
Many CBSE students in Prayagraj think in Hindi and write their answers in English. That is not a weakness to hide; it is something to manage. A good tutor explains a new idea in whichever language makes it click, then asks the student to write the answer in English, using the exact terms NCERT uses. Keep a small glossary at the back of each subject notebook, with the Hindi word beside the English term, and test it once a week. Over a term the Hindi support fades on its own. The English home tutors in Prayagraj page helps if written English itself is the obstacle.
The zone pages for West Prayagraj and Naini, Jhunsi and Phaphamau give more detail, and the Prayagraj home tuition guide covers every zone. Where the right CBSE specialist lives across the city, one home visit and one online class a week is often the steadier plan; see our home and online comparison.
If the answers do not convince you, we arrange the next demo; switching tutor later is free. Our demo class checklist has more.

The chapters overlap, but CBSE builds every paper on NCERT, about half of each secondary paper tests application through cases and data, and marks are given step by step. A CBSE tutor should work from the current sample paper and marking scheme and mark your child's written answers the way a board examiner would.
Class 9 students sit one common 80-mark paper in maths and in science, with an optional 25-mark Advanced paper that stays outside the aggregate. Basic and Standard maths end after the 2026-27 Class 10 batch. Class 10 has two board exams: the first is compulsory, and the second lets a student improve up to three subjects.
Yes. A good tutor explains new ideas in whichever language makes them clear, then has your child write the answer in English using the exact NCERT terms. A short Hindi-English glossary at the back of each notebook, tested weekly, helps the support fade naturally over a term.
Under the 2026-27 senior curriculum, physics, chemistry and biology have 70 marks for theory and 30 for practical work. Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, of which a student takes one, has 80 theory and 20 internal, as do accountancy, economics and business studies. The practical file is earned through the year, so check it monthly.
We look first for tutors who live on your side of the river, because crossing a bridge twice a week is hard to keep up. Phaphamau and Jhunsi each have their own colonies, and Naini its own residential areas. Where the right subject specialist lives elsewhere, an online class can sit alongside home visits.
