Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Prayagraj is the city where the UP Board keeps its head office, and a large share of its children sit the board's High School and Intermediate maths papers, often answering in Hindi. Their neighbours may write CBSE, ICSE or ISC maths in English, and a few follow IB or Cambridge courses. A teacher who is excellent for one of these papers can be a poor match for the next. Geography adds a second filter: the railway line splits the city into Civil Lines and the newer colonies to the north and the old city around Chowk to the south. Tell NXTutors the paper, the class, the medium and your locality, and we send two or three maths tutors who fit all four. You see every fee before the first meeting, and that first class is a free demo.
The exam detail on this page comes from two authors. Ajay Vatsyayan writes on IB, IGCSE and ISC maths, and Abhinandan Tiwary writes on Class 10 maths for CBSE and ICSE. Whatever the course, we begin with one question: who sets the paper your child will sit? That decides the book, the way working is laid out and the practice that earns marks.
| Paper | Set by | How it is assessed | Question for the tutor |
|---|---|---|---|
| High School maths (Class 10) | UP Board (UPMSP) | 70 in the written paper, 30 inside the school including a project | How do you prepare a child for the OMR block? |
| Intermediate maths (Classes 11 and 12) | UP Board (UPMSP) | One 100-mark paper each year, no internal portion | How will calculus be paced through Class 12? |
| CBSE, Classes 10 and 12 | CBSE | Board paper out of 80; the school adds 20 | Would you advise Standard or Basic for my child in Class 10? |
| ICSE (Class 10), ISC (Class 12) | CISCE | Written paper out of 80; internal or project work supplies 20 | Are you teaching the syllabus for my child's exam year? |
| IB Diploma or Cambridge IGCSE | IB; Cambridge | IB: exam papers and an exploration. IGCSE: a Core or an Extended entry | When did you last teach this exact course or tier? |
The Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, Uttar Pradesh, known everywhere as the UP Board, was set up in 1921 at Prayagraj and still has its head office here. It runs the High School examination after Class 10. In the 2026-27 maths syllabus the written paper is worth 70 and school assessment, project work included, is worth 30; passing takes 23 from the paper and 10 from the school part. Here is how the 70 written marks divide, heaviest first:
The board's model paper begins with a reading period. Section A holds twenty one-mark multiple-choice questions on an OMR sheet that allows no cutting, eraser or whitener; Section B carries 50 marks across five questions, each saying how many of its parts to attempt. Two habits follow. The child should settle each Section A answer in rough work before marking the bubble, and should read each Section B instruction line twice, since extra parts win nothing.
The board's monthly syllabus on upmsp.edu.in is a ready pacing guide. A 2026-27 notification restricts schools to textbooks the board itself has authorised, so practice belongs in those books. Our UP Board tutors in Prayagraj page covers the other subjects, and the Class 10 maths tutor page explains how we match for the board year.
From Class 11 the UP Board drops the school-assessed share for maths. Each year ends in a single paper out of 100, so marks lost there cannot be recovered elsewhere. The weights tell a tutor where the weeks belong:
| Class | Area and marks | What it means for a tutor |
|---|---|---|
| 11 | Calculus 10, statistics with probability 12, coordinate geometry 15, sets with functions 28, and algebra, the largest, 35 | Algebra and functions together pass 60 marks, and they are the ground Class 12 stands on |
| 12 | Linear programming 5, probability 8, relations with functions 10, algebra 15, vectors with 3-D geometry 18, and calculus, the largest, 44 | Calculus is close to half the paper, so it gets a share of every single week from the first month |
The Class 12 model paper sets nine compulsory questions, and the parts climb from one-mark multiple-choice items to eight-mark questions. Long questions are where full working pays, so at least one should be written out completely every week and checked against the model paper's layout. Dates and scheme changes should always be taken from the board's own site rather than last year's notes.
Match the language of the answer sheet. The UP Board's maths model papers are set in Hindi; some students answer in Hindi, others in English, and some change medium at Class 9 or Class 11. A child who learnt samantar shreni and is suddenly taught "arithmetic progression" spends half the lesson translating. When you send a request, name the language your child writes the paper in, not the language spoken at home.
Moving from a Hindi-medium UP Board school to English-medium CBSE or ISC at Class 11 is common, and it goes better with a deliberate bridge. Keep a glossary with the Hindi term on one side and the English on the other; have the student read each English word problem aloud and say it back in plain words; and from week one, write every solution in English, even while the talking still happens in Hindi.
Class 10. For 2026-27, CBSE spreads 80 board marks over 14 NCERT chapters in seven units, keeping last session's design. Algebra is worth 20, geometry 15, trigonometry 12, statistics with probability 11 and mensuration 10, while real numbers and coordinate geometry take 6 apiece. Section A has 20 one-mark items (18 multiple-choice and 2 assertion–reason), followed by five two-mark, six three-mark and four five-mark questions and three case studies of four marks each. Calculators are not allowed and π is taken as 22/7 unless stated. Standard and Basic cover the same chapters, but Basic puts about 75% of its marks on recall and understanding against about 54% in Standard, so choose Standard if maths in Class 11 is possible. Since 2026 there is one compulsory main exam and an optional second sitting to improve up to three subjects; 2027 dates are awaited on cbse.gov.in. Read the Class 10 maths preparation guide and the board-year planner.
Class 12 and JEE. The CBSE paper has 38 compulsory questions for 80 marks, and calculus alone is worth 35. JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 had 75 questions for 300 marks; its 25 maths questions were 20 multiple-choice and 5 numerical, scored +4 for a right answer and −1 for a wrong one. Confirm the next pattern on jeemain.nta.nic.in. A home tutor beside coaching should clear the unsolved sheet problems and keep the board paper moving, not repeat the lecture. See the Class 12 calculus and algebra guide, the JEE maths topic-wise guide and our JEE home tutor in Prayagraj page.
These specialists are scarcer than CBSE or UP Board teachers, so name the course in your first message. When no one suitable lives nearby, an online specialist can take the course-specific hours.
Prayagraj has no metro; tutors come by two-wheeler, auto or car, and some by train. Prayagraj Junction opens onto Civil Lines on its north side and onto the old city on its south side, which helps a tutor coming from further away. Compare tutors by locality on the Prayagraj page.
Civil Lines was laid out on a grid of straight roads and is now the city's business district, with most families in apartment buildings. A road name and the nearest crossing are usually enough; tell the guard the tutor's name and park on a side road away from the shops. Tagore Town, built in 1909, mixes flats and older houses among parks. Evening traffic gathers on the roads towards Civil Lines and Katra, so a slot soon after school is steadier.
Katra spreads across Old Katra, New Katra and Katra Extension, with homes behind the shops and New Katra the most residential part. Ask the tutor to come in by a residential street rather than the market lanes. Allahpur, also called Bharadwaj Puram (PIN 211006), lies between Tagore Town and Daraganj; say whether you live in a house or a flat and whether the gate keeps a register.
Chowk is the old city's centre, marked by the Ghantaghar clock tower of 1913, with houses in narrow lanes behind a large bazaar. Start directions from the clock tower and add the lane name; a two-wheeler beats a car here. Lukerganj, south-west of the Junction and built in 1906, has old bungalows among newer flats, and tutors can reach it from the old city, Kareli or Civil Lines.
The Prayagraj home tuition guide covers every zone, including the western colonies and the townships across the rivers.
For a board-year student on two lessons a week, this shape adapts to the UP Board and CBSE alike.
| Lesson | Focus | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Week 1, first | The chapter the school is teaching now | Keep pace with class and clear today's doubts |
| Week 1, second | One long question written in full, plus a short objective block | Build the layout the examiner rewards |
| Week 2, first | A chapter from two months back | Stop earlier units fading before the pre-boards |
| Week 2, second | A timed section from a model or sample paper, then error sorting | Find out whether lost marks are concept, reading or arithmetic |
Ask for the chapter your child is on at school, then watch for four things:
If the fit is wrong, tell us and we arrange a demo with another tutor from your shortlist; changing tutor later is free too. The demo class checklist for parents adds more, and home tutor or online tutor weighs the two formats.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee. What moves it is the paper and class, how long the tutor has taught that paper, the trip to your locality at your hour and how many lessons you book a week. Every shortlisted fee is shown before the demo, and the Prayagraj home tuition fees article explains what to ask.
Five things: the class; the paper by its full name (UP Board High School or Intermediate, CBSE Standard or Basic, ICSE, ISC, IB or IGCSE); the language your child answers in; your locality with a landmark; and the days and times you can offer. We reply with two or three matched maths tutors and their fees, and you choose one for a free demo. Tutors who join go through an ID check, and the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID; see how we check tutors. If no one suitable can reach your part of Prayagraj at that hour, we suggest an online or mixed plan. Our office is in Sector 66, Gurugram, and online lessons reach every state; for other cities, see the national maths home tutor page.

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each maths tutor in Prayagraj sets their own fee, moved by the paper and class, experience with that paper, the trip to your locality and lessons per week.
Send the class, the full paper name, the answer language, your Prayagraj locality with a landmark and your free slots, and we reply with two or three matched maths tutors. Each fee is shown before the first class, the first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free. Tutors who join go through an ID check.
Yes, a Prayagraj maths tutor can drill the twenty one-mark OMR questions in Section A of the UP Board High School paper. The sheet allows no cutting, eraser or whitener, so each answer is settled in rough work first. The written paper is worth 70 and school assessment, project work included, is worth 30.
For a Prayagraj student in UP Board Class 12 maths, calculus deserves time every week, since it carries 44 of the 100 marks. Vectors with 3-D geometry follow at 18, algebra at 15, relations with functions at 10, probability at 8 and linear programming at 5. Intermediate maths has no internal portion to cushion a weak paper.
Yes, a Prayagraj maths tutor should explain in the language your child writes the paper in, which for many UP Board students is Hindi. The board's maths model papers are set in Hindi. For a move to English-medium CBSE or ISC, keep a two-language glossary and write every solution in English from week one.
In Prayagraj, choose CBSE Class 10 Standard maths if Class 11 maths is a real possibility. Both cover the same 14 chapters for 80 board marks, but Basic puts about 75% of its marks on recall and understanding against about 54% in Standard. Schools fix the choice at registration, so ask about the deadline early.
Yes, maths tutors reach the old city around Chowk in Prayagraj, usually by two-wheeler, auto or rickshaw, since cars struggle near the bazaar. Start directions from the Ghantaghar clock tower, then add the lane name and a map pin. A slot straight after school or on a weekend morning avoids the evening market rush.
A Prayagraj maths home tutor beside JEE coaching should clear the unsolved sheet problems and keep the Class 12 board paper moving, not repeat the lecture. In CBSE Class 12, calculus carries 35 of the 80 marks and long answers need full working. Confirm the next JEE Main pattern on jeemain.nta.nic.in.
Often yes, though ISC, IB and IGCSE maths specialists are scarcer in Prayagraj than UP Board or CBSE tutors, so name the course in your first message. When nobody suitable can travel to you, an online specialist can take the course-specific hours, perhaps alongside a local tutor who checks written practice at home.
For most Prayagraj children, home maths tuition helps most when written working and Hindi or English layout need watching beside the desk. Online suits ISC, IB or IGCSE specialists who cannot travel to your locality at your hour. If no one can reach your part of the city in time, we suggest an online or mixed plan.
In Prayagraj, judge a free maths demo by whether the tutor diagnoses first, names errors by kind and sets out working in your board's format and your child's answer language. You should leave knowing what the next few lessons cover. If the fit is wrong, we arrange a demo with another shortlisted tutor.
