Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Families in Prayagraj who choose CISCE schools usually do so for the breadth: English with set literature, three separate science papers, history, civics and geography as a compulsory group, and a wide choice of electives at ISC. The same breadth is what makes tuition useful. The difficulty is rarely one hard topic; it is keeping a dozen subjects moving at once, writing long answers at speed, and finishing internal work on time. This page explains how the ICSE subjects are grouped and weighted, what the maths and science papers look like, the ISC rules that catch families out, a year-by-year plan, how tutors reach six localities, and what to test in a free demo. On NXTutors, Abhinandan Tiwary writes on ICSE maths, Aaditya Kashyap on the ICSE sciences and Ajay Vatsyayan on ISC maths.
The UP Board, Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, has its headquarters in Prayagraj, and the city's students also sit CBSE, CISCE's ICSE and ISC and, in smaller numbers, IB or Cambridge IGCSE, as our Prayagraj home tutors page notes. We do not publish shares for each board. The practical point is that a tutor who has mostly prepared students for UP Board High School or Intermediate papers knows the chapters but may not mark to CISCE's expectations. ICSE answers are longer, English carries set texts, and the council publishes reports on where candidates lose marks. Ask a tutor directly how much ICSE or ISC teaching they have done, and in which subjects.
| Group | What it contains | External paper to internal work | Tutoring note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Group I (compulsory) | English, a second language, and History, Civics and Geography | 80 to 20 | Long writing; set texts in English need reading time every week |
| Group II (two or three) | Choices such as Mathematics, Science, Economics, Commercial Studies, a modern foreign or classical language, Environmental Science | 80 to 20 | Where most tuition goes: maths and the three sciences |
| Group III (one) | An applied subject such as Computer Applications, Economic Applications, Commercial Applications, Art or Physical Education | 50 to 50 | Half the marks are internal, so steady project work matters most here |
Group III is easy to underrate. With half its marks earned through the year, a student who leaves projects to the last month loses far more than in any Group II subject.
Mathematics. One 80-mark paper, plus 20 internal marks from at least two assignments, each marked by the school's teacher and by an external examiner. Commercial topics such as banking and shares sit beside algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics, and full working is expected throughout. The habit that matters most is writing every step, because the method is marked as well as the answer.
Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Three separate 80-mark papers, each with 20 internal marks for practical work. A good result in one says nothing about the other two, so decide early whether one tutor will take all three or whether the weakest needs its own specialist. CISCE's subject-wise Analysis of Pupil Performance, published after each exam season, shows where candidates lost marks; a tutor should use it alongside the specimen papers. See also the physics, chemistry and biology home tutor pages for Prayagraj.
With ten or more subjects in Classes 9 and 10, the chapters taught in the first term are often forgotten by the pre-boards. A tutor can prevent this with three simple routines:
Our ICSE and ISC maths guide was written for another city, but its advice on structuring maths revision applies here as well.
| Rule | What it means for your family |
|---|---|
| English plus three to five electives, six subjects at most | Choose electives for the career path, not only for comfort |
| No change of subject after 15 September of the Class 11 registration year | Any doubt about an elective must be settled in the first months of Class 11 |
| A Class 12 subject must have been studied in Class 11 | No new subjects can be picked up in the final year |
| Promotion needs 35% in four subjects including English, and 75% attendance | Class 11 is not a gap year, even when coaching starts |
| Practicals compulsory; Physics cannot be combined with Engineering Science | Laboratory work needs the same attention as theory |
| Grades 1 to 9; a pass certificate needs four subjects including English, plus SUPW and Community Service | Keep the non-exam requirements on the calendar too |
ISC Mathematics has an 80-mark theory paper and 20 marks of project work in each year. Ajay Vatsyayan covers ISC maths on NXTutors; see the ISC maths tutor page and the maths home tutors in Prayagraj page.
| Class | At stake | Where tuition helps most |
|---|---|---|
| 6 to 8 | School exams only | Answers in full sentences, stepwise maths, accurate science vocabulary |
| 9 | The two-year ICSE syllabus opens | Rounds of revision from day one; diagrams and full working each week |
| 10 | ICSE papers and internal marks | Specimen papers and examiner reports, paper by paper, under timing |
| 11 | Promotion rules; subjects locked in September | Electives chosen carefully; the step up from ICSE closed quickly |
| 12 | ISC theory, practicals and projects | Depth in each elective; practical and project deadlines kept |
| Locality | How tutors get there | Before the first class |
|---|---|---|
| Dariyabad | By two-wheeler or auto through the old city | Share the lane name and a known landmark |
| Kareli | Through the plotted colony lanes from Lukerganj, Rajrooppur or Azad Nagar | Block and house number are usually enough |
| Rajrooppur | From Kareli, Dhoomanganj or Kalindipuram | A main-road landmark; check whether your building registers visitors |
| Dhoomanganj | Two-wheeler from nearby; Subedarganj station for a tutor by train | Tell the guard to expect the visit if you live in a flat |
| Naini | Easiest with a tutor already across the Yamuna; Naini Junction serves the area | Colony block and house number, or floor and gate registration |
| Jhunsi | Over the Ganga road bridge, or from a tutor on the same bank | A clear landmark; avoid bridge rush hours for the slot |
More on each part of the city: Chowk and Old City, West Prayagraj and Naini, Jhunsi and Phaphamau, plus the Prayagraj home tuition guide. If the right ISC elective tutor lives far away, online lessons for that subject are often the answer; see online tutors for Prayagraj.
At the end of Class 10 some families stay with CISCE for ISC, some move to a CBSE school, and some move to the UP Board for Intermediate. Each route works; what matters is closing the gap in the first term. A student moving to CBSE needs NCERT's wording and CBSE's application questions. A student moving to the UP Board should look at the board's current syllabus and model papers on upmsp.edu.in and, if the school teaches in Hindi, learn the Hindi terms for each topic. Our pages on CBSE and UP Board tutors in Prayagraj go into both, and the guide to choosing a board and stream helps with the decision.
Most ICSE requests start with maths or a science, but the papers that quietly cost marks are often elsewhere. English Language and English Literature reward a student who reads the set texts more than once and practises composition against the clock; a tutor can mark essays and letters for structure as well as grammar. Hindi as the second language needs regular writing, even for a child who speaks it at home. History, Civics and Geography is a single Group I subject with a lot of factual content, where short weekly recall works better than cramming. In Group III, Computer Applications involves programming, so a tutor who can read and correct code is worth seeking. The English home tutors in Prayagraj page covers the language side in more depth.
Home or online? For Classes 6 to 10, home lessons usually suit maths and the sciences, where the tutor needs to watch working. For ISC electives with few local specialists, online lessons widen the choice considerably.
If the demo does not convince you, we arrange another; changing tutor later is free. The demo class checklist has more ideas.

Yes. Tell us the class, the subjects or ISC electives, and your locality with a landmark. We suggest two or three matched tutors with their fees shown, and the first class is a free demo. We look first for tutors on your side of the railway line or river, and suggest online lessons for narrow electives.
Under the CISCE regulations, Group I and Group II subjects are marked 80 for the external paper and 20 for internal work. The single Group III subject, such as Computer Applications, is marked 50 and 50, so steady project work through the year matters most there. Physics, Chemistry and Biology each have their own paper.
Only until 15 September of the Class 11 registration year. After that, subjects are locked, and any Class 12 subject must have been studied in Class 11. So settle doubts about electives early, with a few weeks of honest teaching in the subject if needed, before the deadline passes.
The ISC regulations require 35% in four subjects including English, and 75% attendance. Practical examinations are compulsory in subjects that have them. Class 11 therefore needs steady work even if a coaching batch starts the same year; a tutor can keep the school subjects moving while the batch takes the evenings.
Many can, but each science has its own 80-mark paper and 20 internal marks for practical work, so strength in one does not carry the others. If one science is clearly weaker, a specialist for that paper often helps more. Ask the tutor at the demo how they would divide time between the three.

By closing the gap in the first term. The tutor works from the UP Board's current syllabus and model papers on upmsp.edu.in, teaches the Hindi terms for each topic if the school uses Hindi, and adjusts answer length and style to the board's papers. Plan the move well before Class 11 begins.
