Now taking on home, online and hybrid tutors · in Srinagar
The long winter break is the hinge of a Srinagar maths tutor's year. For months the routine is home lessons after school on colony lanes from Bemina to Hazratbal; then the days turn short and cold, schools close, and families either bring lessons into the warm part of the day, move them online, or use the free weeks for concentrated revision. A maths tutor who plans for that switch from the first meeting keeps students through the whole session rather than losing them in December.
No open maths requests in Srinagar right now. New family requests appear here as they come in; join now so they can reach you.
This page is for maths teachers deciding whether to tutor in Srinagar. It covers the boards and classes that ask for maths, the five zones and how to move between them, what families expect, and how to approach the free demo. NXTutors does not advertise vacancies. A family sends one request with class, board, colony and timing, and we suggest two or three tutors, starting with those in the same locality. You choose your classes, localities, home or online, and your own fee.
The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education shapes much of the work. JKBOSE conducts the Class 10 secondary examination and higher secondary examinations at both Class 11 and Class 12, with separate Kashmir and Jammu divisions. That Class 11 examination matters for a maths tutor: functions, trigonometry and the first ideas of calculus are examined publicly a year before Class 12, so Class 11 cannot be treated as a quiet year. The board's official website publishes the syllabus, textbooks, model test papers, a question bank and date sheets. Teach from the prescribed books, practise with the model papers and question bank, and read every date there rather than in forwarded messages.
CBSE students in Srinagar sit beside JKBOSE and CISCE ones. Their maths is grounded in NCERT, with Standard or Basic mathematics in Class 10 and board papers that increasingly ask students to apply a method in a fresh setting. A student who has done months of objective practice for entrance tests often needs help writing full, stepped answers again, and that is a natural job for a maths tutor in Classes 11 and 12. ICSE and ISC students write long, organised solutions across a broad syllabus, so revision has to run in rounds and timed papers should start well before the exams.
Coaching is part of the picture, especially on the Airport Road side, where Hyderpora is known for its many coaching centres. Families there usually want a maths tutor with a narrow, useful job: clear the week's coaching doubts, rebuild the chapter that keeps losing marks, and keep board answers well set out. For younger students, Classes 6 to 8, the request is for secure number sense, fractions and early algebra before any entrance foundation work. IB and Cambridge IGCSE maths students are few here and usually study with an online specialist.
Almost every Srinagar family lives in a house on a colony lane or in an older mohalla, so a tutor usually reaches the door without a visitor register; the skill is reading addresses, which are given as small colony names. Airport Road covers Hyderpora, Peerbagh, Sanat Nagar and Rawalpora, with the bypass and airport traffic deciding your travel windows; ask each family for the student's coaching batch times before agreeing a slot. Karan Nagar & Bemina suits a tutor living along the bypass, since Bemina's planned colonies sit on it, while Karan Nagar and Batamaloo call for later slots and precise lane directions.
Natipora & Nowgam is reached quickly by the flyover ramps at Natipora and Barzulla, or by train to Srinagar railway station at Nowgam and a short auto ride. Civil Lines is central and easy to reach from every side, though main roads are crowded when schools open and close; families in Rajbagh and Sonwar give a part of the locality as their address. North City varies most: in the old lanes of Nowshera and Zadibal you park on the main road and walk, while Buchpora's newer colonies and the Hazratbal neighbourhoods allow arrival at the door. For winter, an online maths lesson with a shared whiteboard keeps the routine going without anyone travelling in the cold.
Srinagar parents read a maths profile for board, class and locality first, so put them in your opening line: "JKBOSE and CBSE maths, Classes 9 to 12; home lessons in Hyderpora, Sanat Nagar and Peerbagh; online through winter". If you can explain in a language other than English, say which; it matters to families whose children reason more comfortably in the language spoken at home. Mention whether you work alongside coaching, and how you handle the winter break, because those are the two questions parents here tend to ask early.
At the demo, use whatever chapter the class is on. Ask the student to solve one question while you watch, and note exactly where the working stops or goes wrong. Teach that step, set a similar problem, and let them finish it alone. If they come from coaching, look at one unsolved question from their latest sheet. Before you leave, tell the parent the plan for the next month and what will happen when the winter break arrives. Your fee is already on your profile; for payouts, see how you get paid on the tutor terms page.

Pro, Premium and Featured are optional platform subscriptions: more visibility, AI tools and more lead credits. They are never a fee to apply for a tuition. See tutor plans.
A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.
You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Yes. JKBOSE conducts higher secondary examinations at Class 11 as well as Class 12, so Class 11 maths needs steady preparation, not just groundwork for the next year.
On the board's official website, which publishes the syllabus, textbooks, model test papers, a question bank and date sheets, with separate Kashmir and Jammu division sections.
Many families bring lessons into daylight, move some or all weeks online, or use the break for revision blocks. Agree the plan with each family before winter starts.
Rarely. Most homes are houses on colony lanes, so you reach the door directly. In the old lanes of North City, expect to park on the main road and walk in.
A narrow one: clear the week's coaching doubts, repair weak chapters and keep board answers properly stepped. Ask for the batch timings before fixing a slot.
