Tutoring in Srinagar: what to know
Tuition work in Srinagar is spread across five zones that we group for planning home visits. The Civil Lines along the Jhelum hold Lal Chowk, Jawahar Nagar, Rajbagh and Sonwar; Karan Nagar, Batamaloo and Bemina run west; Hyderpora, Peerbagh, Sanat Nagar and Rawalpora form the Airport Road side; Natipora, Barzulla, Nowgam and Bagh-e-Mehtab make up the south; and North City stretches from Nowshera and Zadibal to Soura, Buchpora and Hazratbal. Almost every family lives in a house on a colony lane or in an older mohalla rather than a tower, so a tutor usually reaches the door without a visitor register. The real skill is reading addresses, which are given as small colony names.
Students here study under the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education, CBSE and CISCE's ICSE and ISC, while IB and Cambridge IGCSE learners are fewer and usually work with online specialists. JKBOSE conducts the Class 10 secondary examination and the Class 11 and Class 12 higher secondary examinations, and its official website publishes the syllabus, textbooks, model test papers, a question bank and date sheets. Work from those materials rather than forwarded copies. Many children read their textbooks in English but reason more comfortably in the language spoken at home, so a tutor who can explain in both is useful; say on your profile which languages you teach in.
Home and online work both fit Srinagar's year. The long winter break, with its short, cold days, is when many families move lessons earlier in the day or switch some weeks online, so tutors who offer both modes can keep their students through the season. When a family in Sanat Nagar, for example, asks for a tutor, NXTutors shortlists two or three, starting with tutors in that locality, then the Airport Road zone, then the city, then online, and each fee is in front of the family before the free first demo; a later change of tutor costs the family nothing. Online students can come from anywhere in India.
How you get tuition work on NXTutors

-
1
Sign up with a one-time code
Start on your phone: confirm your number or email with a one-time code, then list subjects, classes, boards such as JKBOSE, CBSE or ICSE, your teaching languages and the Srinagar localities within your reach.
-
2
Upload your ID; our team reviews it
Next, add a government photo ID. The team reviews it before anyone sees your profile, and one ID can sit on only one tutor account. This confirms who you are; it does not look at police records.
-
3
Your profile carries the Verified badge
After the review, your profile opens to families with the Verified badge, your boards, the localities you cover between Hazratbal and Nowgam, home, online or both, and the fee you have set.
-
4
A family nearby sends a request
Say a parent in Bemina or Rajbagh asks for a tutor. NXTutors puts together two or three names, beginning with tutors closest to that colony and widening to the zone, Srinagar and online.
-
5
Free demo; the family sees your fee first
The family sees your fee before booking. Your first class with them is a free demo in their home, and we ask a parent to be at home, so you see the student, the route and the hour.

Teach at home, online or both
From there, teach in homes you can reach, online for learners across India, or a blend, such as home visits during term and online lessons when the winter break shortens the days.
Boards you can teach in Srinagar
Srinagar tutors teach JKBOSE students for the Class 10 secondary and Class 11 and 12 higher secondary examinations, CBSE students working from NCERT books, CISCE's ICSE and ISC candidates, and fewer IB and Cambridge IGCSE learners, usually online. For JKBOSE, read the syllabus, textbooks, model test papers, question bank and date sheets on the board's official website, which has separate Kashmir and Jammu division sections; for CBSE use the CBSE academic site, and for ICSE and ISC the CISCE site. Your profile should say which boards and classes you take.
JKBOSE
Class 10 (Secondary); Classes 11 and 12 (Higher Secondary)
JKBOSE conducts the Class 10 secondary examination and the Class 11 and 12 higher secondary examinations, with separate Kashmir and Jammu divisions. A tutor for a JKBOSE student should teach from the prescribed textbooks, use the board's own model test papers and question bank, and read dates and notices only on the official site, not in forwarded messages.
CBSE students in Srinagar sit beside JKBOSE and CISCE ones. Ground lessons in the NCERT books, practise on the board's sample papers with their marking schemes, and help students who have done a lot of objective practice to write full, stepped answers again. The same NCERT base supports JEE and NEET, so careful chapter work pays twice.
CISCE
ICSE (Class 10); ISC (Class 12)
ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) papers are long and written, covering a broad syllabus, with English literature texts and project work in several subjects. Coverage is the challenge, so plan revision in rounds and set timed writing well before the papers. Regulations and specimen papers are on cisce.org.
IB
Diploma Programme (Classes 11–12)
IB Diploma students in Srinagar are few, and they usually find a specialist online. The IB counts coursework alongside the final exams, and a tutor can coach a student through the Internal Assessment and Extended Essay, but the work must remain the student's own. Work from the subject guides on ibo.org and teach to the command terms.
IGCSE learners in Srinagar usually study with online specialists. Regular past-paper practice marked against the official mark schemes is the core of the work; teach students to read command words and to sit the correct tier. Check whether the school follows Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel, and read the syllabus on that board's own site.
