Science tutor jobs in Srinagar

A Srinagar child often reads the science textbook in English and thinks about it in another language. That small fact explains a lot of science tuition here. The student who can describe photosynthesis perfectly at the dinner table may still write a thin answer in the exam, and the one who memorised every definition may be lost when a question is set in an everyday situation. A science tutor who can move between explanation and written answer, and between languages where needed, fills that gap.

Open tuition requests in Srinagar for science

No open science requests in Srinagar right now. New family requests appear here as they come in; join now so they can reach you.

This page is for school science teachers who want to tutor in Srinagar: what the boards ask, which classes come up, how the five zones work for home visits, what families expect, and how to use the free demo. NXTutors does not post job adverts. A family sends one request, and we suggest two or three tutors, starting in the same locality, then the zone, the city and online. You set your classes, localities, mode and fee.

Who asks for science tutors in Srinagar

Up to Class 10, science is usually one subject on the timetable, and families ask for one tutor who can handle physics, chemistry and biology together. For JKBOSE students, the target is the Class 10 secondary examination. The board's official website, which has separate Kashmir and Jammu division sections, publishes the syllabus, textbooks, model test papers, a question bank and date sheets. A good routine is to teach from the prescribed textbook, practise each chapter with questions from the board's own question bank, and finish with model test papers under time. Dates and notices should be read only on that site.

CBSE students work from the NCERT science book. Their papers reward applying an idea to an unfamiliar case, with case-based passages and assertion-reason items alongside diagrams and numericals, so the board's sample papers and marking schemes belong in every month's plan. ICSE students take physics, chemistry and biology as separate papers in Class 10, with long written answers and project work in several subjects; their tutor should plan revision in rounds and set timed writing well before the papers.

Class 9 is where most science requests begin, because motion and force numericals, atoms and molecules, and the cell arrive together. Middle-school students, Classes 6 to 8, need a different approach: talking through an idea in the language they think in, a simple demonstration with household items, then a short written answer in English. Beyond Class 10, science splits into physics, chemistry and biology, often alongside JEE or NEET coaching, and IB or IGCSE science learners in Srinagar usually study with an online specialist.

Where in Srinagar the work is

Civil Lines is the most central zone, reachable from every side, with the Gogji Bagh ramp of the flyover bringing tutors from the south over the busy roads. Homes behind Lal Chowk's shopfronts sit in lanes, so ask for the lane and a landmark, while Jawahar Nagar's planned plots are easy to follow. Families in Rajbagh and Sonwar give a part of the locality as their address. Lessons after the school rush keep the week steady here. North City runs from Nowshera and Zadibal to Soura, Buchpora and Hazratbal; in the old lanes, park on the main road and walk the last stretch.

Natipora & Nowgam suits tutors coming from the centre over the flyover ramps at Natipora and Barzulla, or from the Budgam or Pampore side by train to Srinagar railway station at Nowgam. Tutors from Rawalpora can cross to Bagh-e-Mehtab by the small bridge beside the railway bridge. Karan Nagar & Bemina and Airport Road complete the picture, with the bypass linking Bemina to Hyderpora and Sanat Nagar. Almost every home is a house on a colony lane with no visitor register, and during the long winter break many families move science revision online or into daylight hours.

What families in Srinagar expect

  • Confidence in all three sciences up to Class 10, and honesty about any weaker area.
  • Use of the JKBOSE textbooks, model test papers and question bank, or CBSE NCERT and sample papers, or ICSE specimen papers.
  • Explanations in the language a student is comfortable with, then answers written in English.
  • Numericals worked with formula, substitution and units, every time.
  • Diagrams drawn and labelled from memory, as examiners expect.
  • A winter plan agreed early: earlier slots, online weeks or a revision block.
  • Short chapter tests and a brief note to the parent on what to revise.

How to get picked

Make the profile easy to scan. One line with classes, boards and languages, then one with localities: "Science for Classes 6 to 10, JKBOSE and CBSE, explained in English and the student's home language; home lessons in Natipora, Barzulla and Bagh-e-Mehtab; online through winter". If you continue into one science at Classes 11 and 12, list it separately. Because addresses in Srinagar are given as small colony names, naming the colonies you know well helps a family see that you can find them.

Use the demo to listen first. Ask the student to explain the current chapter in their own words, in whichever language they prefer, and note the misunderstanding you hear. Correct it with a quick sketch or everyday example, then ask for a written answer in English to a question from the board's question bank. In a biology or physics chapter, add a labelled diagram from memory. Tell the parent what the first month will cover and how winter weeks will run. For payouts and fees, see how you get paid on the tutor terms page.

Joining, leads and pay

Joining is free

Applying, onboarding, building your profile, the ID check and receiving matched requests on the Free plan cost nothing. The Free plan gives you 160 lead credits every month.

Paid plans are optional

Pro, Premium and Featured are optional platform subscriptions: more visibility, AI tools and more lead credits. They are never a fee to apply for a tuition. See tutor plans.

How leads and credits work

A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.

How you get paid

You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

Questions from tutors

What JKBOSE material should a science tutor use?

The prescribed textbooks, the board's model test papers and its question bank, all on the official website with separate Kashmir and Jammu sections. Read dates there only.

Is it acceptable to explain science in a language other than English?

Yes, where it helps the student understand. Make sure the written answers are in English and use the textbook's terms.

How do science lessons continue in winter?

Agree early whether to bring lessons into daylight, switch some weeks online, or run a revision block during the break. Diagrams and numericals work well on a shared screen.

Which zone suits a science tutor coming by train?

Natipora & Nowgam. Srinagar railway station is at Nowgam, and a short auto ride finishes most trips in that zone.

Do ICSE students need separate tutors for each science?

Some families prefer it, since ICSE has separate papers for physics, chemistry and biology. If you can teach all three, say so on your profile.
