What home tuition costs in Leh

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Biology home tutor in Leh: CBSE Classes 11 and 12, NEET, and exact answers

Biology rewards a different kind of work from physics or chemistry. Few marks are lost in calculation; most go on loose wording, an unlabelled diagram or a process described in the wrong order. For senior students in Leh the course is usually CBSE Biology (044), since CBSE's affiliation list has Ladakh as a separate entry with government higher secondary schools across Leh district on it, and many of those students also have NEET in view, where biology makes up half the paper. A tutor who knows both the board scheme and the NEET style can save a great deal of wasted effort. NXTutors suggests two or three biology tutors who fit, by home visit, online or a mix, with each fee shown before you meet. The first lesson is a free demo.

Where do biology students actually lose marks?

  • Vague words. "The cell gets bigger" and "the cell gains water by osmosis" are not worth the same. Examiners look for the exact term.
  • Diagrams. A missing label, an arrow pointing the wrong way or a sketch too small to read costs marks that the student thinks are safe.
  • Sequence. Processes such as digestion, the cardiac cycle or protein synthesis must be told in order, with each step named.
  • Data and cases. Questions built on a graph, a table or a short passage need reading before writing, not a memorised paragraph.

Up to Class 10, biology is part of the single science paper; see the science home tutors in Leh page for those years.

Another common loss is answering the question the student expected rather than the one printed. A tutor can train the habit of underlining the command word, such as state, explain, compare or draw, before writing anything. It is a small step, but it stops many students from writing a long answer where two exact lines were enough.

How are CBSE biology marks spread across the two years?

Each year has a three-hour theory paper of 70 marks and a practical examination of 30. The 2026-27 unit weights show where a tutor's time should go:

CBSE Biology (044), 2026-27: theory marks by unit in Class 11 and Class 12
Class 11 unitMarksClass 12 unitMarks
Human Physiology18Genetics and Evolution20
Diversity of Living Organisms15Reproduction16
Cell: Structure and Function15Biology and Human Welfare12
Plant Physiology12Biotechnology and its Applications12
Structural Organisation in Plants and Animals10Ecology and Environment10

In Class 12, Genetics and Evolution outweighs every other unit, and it is also where tuition is asked for most, since crosses, pedigrees and molecular steps have to be worked, not merely stated. Human Physiology carries the most in Class 11, and much of it returns in NEET.

What kinds of question does the Class 12 paper use?

CBSE's design puts about half the marks on knowledge and understanding, 30% on application and 20% on analysing, evaluating and creating. Questions range from multiple choice and assertion–reason to short and long answers and case- or passage-based items, and roughly a third of the paper offers an internal choice. In practice that means a weekly diet of three things: definitions and diagrams learned exactly, short application questions answered in two or three points, and one case-based question read slowly before any writing starts.

How can a tutor help with the 30 practical marks?

Experiments, slide work, spotting, the record book and an investigatory project with its viva together make up the practical marks. They are run by the school, and they are among the easiest marks to protect. A tutor at home can check that the record is complete and neatly labelled, quiz the student on spotting specimens and slides from the diagrams in the record, help shape a project the student can actually explain, and rehearse the viva. Keeping the record up to date through the year is far easier than rebuilding it in the final weeks.

Why does biology decide so much of NEET?

NEET (UG) is run by the National Testing Agency. Under the 2026 bulletin the paper ran for three hours with 180 compulsory questions worth 720 marks. Physics and chemistry had 45 questions each; biology, counting botany and zoology together, had 90. Right answers scored four and wrong ones cost one. So half of everything on the paper was biology, and the bulletin also uses biology marks first when breaking ties. The syllabus is notified by the NMC; the 2027 bulletin was not out when we wrote this, so check neet.nta.nic.in before planning.

NEET biology questions often turn on a single NCERT line, so a tutor should teach the textbook closely and test it with timed objective sets, then review every wrong or guessed answer. Our NCERT-first NEET biology guide and NEET preparation guide go further, and the NEET home tutor page covers all three subjects.

What does a good week of biology tuition look like?

A sample week for a Class 12 biology student in Leh preparing for the board paper and NEET
SessionFocusEnds with
First lessonThe current school chapter, taught from NCERT with diagrams drawn by the studentThree board-style short answers, marked on the spot
Second lessonA timed set of objective questions on the same chapter, NEET styleA review of every wrong and every guessed answer
Between lessonsOne diagram redrawn from memory and one process written out in orderA photo sent to the tutor for checking

A student aiming only at the board can drop the objective set for a long answer or a case-based question.

ISC, IGCSE or IB biology

ISC Biology (863): a three-hour theory paper of 70 marks, a three-hour practical of 15, project work of 10 and a practical file of 5; structures are taught with diagrams, and answers need them. IGCSE: Cambridge 0610 has a Core tier graded C to G and an Extended tier graded A* to G, while Edexcel 4BI1 is untiered and graded 9 to 1. IB Diploma: four organising themes, about 150 teaching hours at SL and 240 at HL, with external papers worth 80% and a scientific investigation worth 20%. The national biology home tutor page explains each course. Teachers for them are rare in Leh, so an online specialist is usually the practical route.

Biology lessons in five Leh localities

The Leh home tutors page lists every locality. For these five, the note is what a tutor needs to know before the first visit.

  • Changspa: hillside homes on the edge of the town, sometimes addressed with Sheldan. Give the house name and lane marker; tutors from the bazaar side usually ride or drive up.
  • Choglamsar: a census town on the Indus with homes beside offices and nurseries. Tutors can arrive by the Spituk road or the Saboo road, and in winter many families pair a weekend home class with weekday online lessons.
  • Spituk: mainly family homes south-west of the town. Families who want a specialist for senior classes often combine a local home tutor with online sessions, especially in the long winter break.
  • Stok: houses on the southern bank of the Indus, linked with Choglamsar by a suspension bridge since 2019. Houses are spread out, so a clear landmark helps.
  • Shey: family houses among fields east of Leh with room to stop a vehicle; late-afternoon or weekend slots suit tutors from the town.

The Indus valley south and east and Choglamsar, Spituk and the west zone pages add more detail.

How should biology tuition handle the winter?

Leh's long, cold season runs from late November into early March. Biology moves online well: diagrams can be drawn on paper and held up to the camera, and objective sets work on any screen. For a Class 12 student the winter break is valuable revision time before the board season, so agree in advance which weeks go online and what will be covered. Before the break, a midday visit is often easier than an early one. The online tutors for Leh page explains the set-up.

Fees, and how to begin

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fees, which depend on the class, whether NEET is the aim, their experience, the trip to your home and how often you meet. Every fee is shown before the demo; the home tuition fees in Leh guide lists what to ask.

Tell us the class, the board, whether NEET is planned, the unit that is causing trouble, your locality with a landmark and the free evenings in term and in winter. We send two or three biology tutors with their fees, and you choose one for the free demo; if it is not right, the next tutor gives a demo, and changing later is free. Tutors who join go through an ID check before their profile is marked Verified. For the rest of the stream see chemistry and physics tutors in Leh, or the CBSE home tutors in Leh page. Biology Home Tutor in Leh: common questions

Which senior biology course do most students in Leh study?

Most senior students in Leh study CBSE Biology (044), because CBSE's affiliation list carries Ladakh as a separate entry with government higher secondary schools across Leh district. Each year has a 70-mark theory paper and 30 practical marks. Tell us if your child studies ISC, IGCSE or IB biology instead.

What hourly fee does a biology home tutor in Leh ask?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. A biology tutor's fee depends on the class, whether NEET is the aim, experience, the trip to your home and how often you meet.

How does a Leh family get a biology tutor shortlist and demo?

A Leh family gets a biology shortlist by telling us the class, board, NEET plans, the troublesome unit, locality with a landmark and free evenings in term and winter. We send two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and changing later is free.

Which Class 12 biology unit should a Leh student practise most?

A Leh Class 12 student should practise Genetics and Evolution most, since it carries 20 of the 70 theory marks. Reproduction follows with 16, Human Welfare and Biotechnology with 12 each, and Ecology with 10. Genetics needs crosses, pedigrees and molecular steps shown in full, so it deserves regular practice.

How much of NEET depends on biology for a Leh aspirant?

Biology made up half of NEET for a Leh aspirant under the 2026 bulletin: 90 of the 180 questions, from botany and zoology, so half of the 720 marks. Biology marks are also used first to break ties. Many questions turn on a single NCERT line, so close textbook work matters most.

Can biology tuition carry on online through the Leh winter?

Biology tuition can carry on online through the Leh winter, which runs from late November into early March. Diagrams drawn on paper can be held to the camera, and NEET-style objective sets work on any screen. For Class 12, the winter break is valuable revision time, so agree which weeks go online and what each covers.

Can a biology specialist come to homes in Stok or Shey near Leh?

A biology specialist can sometimes come to Stok or Shey, as we look near you first, then your zone and the rest of Leh. Homes there are spread out, so tutors come by car or two-wheeler and prefer late-afternoon or weekend slots. When no one suitable can come, an online specialist is the alternative.

Where do Leh students usually lose marks in biology answers?

Leh students usually lose biology marks on loose wording, half-labelled diagrams, processes told out of order and case questions answered from memory instead of the data. A tutor can train exact terms, large labelled figures, numbered steps, and underlining the command word, such as state, explain or compare, before writing.

How can a Leh tutor protect the 30 practical marks in CBSE biology?

A Leh tutor can protect the 30 CBSE biology practical marks by checking the record is complete and neatly labelled. The tutor can also quiz spotting from the record's diagrams, help shape a project the student can explain, and rehearse the viva. Keeping the record current through the year beats rebuilding it in the final weeks.

What does a balanced week of Class 12 biology tuition look like in Leh?

A balanced week of Class 12 biology tuition in Leh has two lessons. The first teaches the current chapter from NCERT and ends with three marked short answers. The second is a timed NEET-style objective set with every wrong or guessed answer reviewed, and between lessons one diagram is redrawn from memory and photographed.
