What home tuition costs in Leh

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Physics home tutor in Leh: Classes 11 and 12, with a plan for JEE, NEET and the winter break

Senior physics is the subject where many Leh students first find that school lessons alone do not carry them. The board paper wants derivations, ray diagrams and a practical file; JEE and NEET want speed with numericals and a cool head under negative marking. Since CBSE's affiliation list has Ladakh as a separate entry, with government higher secondary schools across Leh district on it, most Class 11 and 12 students here are working towards CBSE physics (042). Specialist physics teachers are fewer in a small town, and a long winter break interrupts the year, so the right plan often mixes home visits with online lessons. NXTutors suggests two or three physics tutors who fit your child's target and your hours, with fees shown before you meet; lesson one is a free demo.

Which exam is your child really preparing for?

The chapters overlap, but the three exams reward different skills, and a tutor's weekly problem sets depend on which one leads. Decide in the first week:

  • CBSE Class 12 physics (042): a 70-mark theory paper of 33 compulsory questions plus 30 practical marks. No calculator; values of constants are given. It pays for clear derivations, labelled diagrams and reading a case passage carefully.
  • JEE Main (2026 pattern): 25 physics questions in Paper 1, five of them needing a numerical answer, at plus four for a correct answer and minus one for a wrong one. It pays for multi-step problems under time pressure.
  • JEE Advanced: in 2026 it was open only to the 2,50,000 highest-ranked candidates from JEE Main, and its paper design is set each year by the institute that runs it.
  • NEET (UG), 2026: physics was 45 of the 180 questions and 180 of the 720 marks, on paper, also at plus four and minus one. It pays for NCERT-level accuracy and fewer guesses.

The entrance syllabus is published by the agency running the test, not by CBSE, and it can still include material the board has removed. Check the current NTA bulletin before your child drops any chapter.

How are the 70 theory marks of CBSE Class 12 physics grouped?

The 2026-27 design matches the previous session. NCERT's fourteen chapters fall into four blocks:

CBSE Class 12 physics theory, 2026-27: chapter blocks, marks and where students usually drop them
BlockMarksWhere marks usually slip
Electrostatics to alternating current (electricity and magnetism)33Direction of fields and forces; half-finished derivations
Optics and electromagnetic waves18Sign conventions and rays drawn without arrows
Dual nature, atoms and nuclei (modern physics)12Unit conversions inside short numericals
Semiconductor electronics7Studying transistors and logic gates from old notes, though they are no longer in the syllabus

The 33 questions sit in five sections: Section A has sixteen one-mark items, twelve multiple-choice and four assertion–reason; B has five worth two marks; C has seven worth three; D has two case studies of four marks; and E has three long answers of five. Only about 38% of the marks reward recall, so practice has to go beyond learning derivations by heart. Class 12 has one main board exam; follow cbse.gov.in for the 2027 timetable. Our Class 12 physics strategies collect the derivations that keep returning, and the Class 12 physics tutor page has a month-by-month plan.

What makes up the 30 practical marks?

CBSE Class 12 physics practical: components, marks and what a home tutor can prepare
ComponentMarksWhat can be prepared at home
Two experiments, one from each section7 + 7Aim, circuit or ray figure, observation table and the graph's meaning
Viva5A short mock viva on why readings are repeated and which error matters most
Practical record5At least eight experiments and six activities, split evenly between the two sections
Activity3Precautions and sources of error, said in the student's own words
Investigatory project3A write-up the student understands and can explain

The equipment stays in the school lab, but these marks are the most predictable in the subject, and a tutor who reads the file entry by entry before the exam protects them.

Three habits a physics tutor should build at home

  1. Units and size before celebration. Every answer gets a quick check: is the unit right, and is the number sensible for the situation? Many lost marks are answers that should have looked wrong.
  2. A derivation said aloud. Once a week the student explains a standard derivation without notes while the tutor listens for skipped steps; the written version follows.
  3. A marked-paper review. Each school test is sorted into ideas not yet understood, careless slips and questions that should have been skipped, and the next week is planned around the biggest group.

Have the most recent test paper on the table at the free demo. Someone who really knows physics can read it and name the weak step before teaching anything.

How can JEE or NEET physics sit alongside the board course?

Entrance work goes better as a steady layer over the board course than as a separate track that swallows it. In practice, one lesson a week works through timed objective questions from the latest chapter, and the other closes on a long board-style answer that the tutor marks on the spot. Starting in Class 11 costs less effort overall, because mechanics rests on vectors and graphs that come back throughout Class 12. When no entrance specialist is available locally, an online tutor for the entrance layer and a home tutor for the board course is a common split. Read the JEE physics topic-by-topic plan, our NEET preparation guide and the NEET physics tutor page.

IB, ISC or IGCSE physics

IB Diploma: the guide first examined in May 2025 has five themes and no options; exams make up 80% of the grade and a student-designed investigation the other 20%, with roughly 150 teaching hours at SL and 240 at HL. See our IB physics guide. ISC: besides the theory paper, CISCE marks practical work and a project, and it wants explanations written as full sentences. Cambridge IGCSE: entered at Core or Extended level. Specialists in these courses are rare in Leh, so an online tutor is usually the realistic route.

Evening physics in five Leh localities

Senior students get home late, so physics often lands in the evening, and whether that slot holds depends on the tutor's route. The Leh home tutors page lists every locality.

Five Leh localities: what the area is like, how a tutor arrives, and a note for a senior physics slot
LocalityThe areaArrivalPhysics slot note
SankarQuiet family homes and fields just north-west of the townTwo-wheeler or car on uphill lanes; agree a stopping pointClose enough for a weekday round by a tutor living in Leh

SpitukMainly family homes in the valley, south-west of the townA main-road landmark for the first visitAn earlier evening slot before the traffic towards town builds

ThikseyA block and tehsil headquarters with houses among fieldsCluster name and a clear landmarkA tutor who already teaches in Shey or Choglamsar may add it

The Choglamsar, Spituk and the west zone page explains the circular roads in more detail.

Keeping physics on track in the cold months

Leh's winter runs from late November into early March, and a long winter break falls inside it. For a Class 12 student that break comes just before the board exam season, which makes it too valuable to lose. Agree at the start that lessons move online with the same tutor during the break, and use the time for full sample papers under exam conditions, derivation practice and the practical file. Before the break, a shorter midday visit is often easier than an early one. The online tutors for Leh page covers the set-up.

What does a physics home tutor in Leh charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fees, which follow the target exam, their experience with it, the trip to your home and how often you meet; some price online lessons differently. Every fee appears before the demo, and the home tuition fees in Leh guide explains what to ask.

Asking for a physics shortlist

Send the class and board, the main goal (board marks, JEE or NEET), days already used by a batch, a landmark near home and your free evenings. You will get two or three physics tutors with fees attached, and you decide who gives the free demo. A poor first demo leads to a second with someone else, and a later switch is free. Every tutor who joins passes an ID check before the profile is marked Verified. For other cities, see the national physics home tutor page; in Leh, maths and chemistry tutors round off the science stream. Physics teachers in and around Leh can see open requests on Leh tuition jobs.

Physics Home Tutor in Leh: common questions

Which physics paper do most Class 12 students in Leh sit?

CBSE physics (042) for many of them. CBSE's affiliation list carries Ladakh as a separate entry, with government higher secondary schools across Leh district on it. The paper is 70 theory marks from 33 compulsory questions, plus 30 practical marks. Tell us if your child follows ISC, IB or IGCSE instead.

How much does a physics home tutor in Leh charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fees, and you see each one before the free demo.

Which part of Class 12 physics carries the most marks?

Electricity and magnetism, from electrostatics to alternating current, with 33 of the 70 theory marks. Optics with electromagnetic waves has 18, modern physics 12 and semiconductor electronics 7. Start the electricity chapters early and keep revising them, because they make up close to half the paper.

Can we find a JEE physics specialist in Leh?

Sometimes, but specialists are fewer in a small town. A common answer is a home tutor for the board course and an online tutor for the entrance layer, or one online tutor for both. We look nearby first, then across Leh, and suggest online options when no one local fits.

How should Class 12 physics continue during the winter break?

Move lessons online with the same tutor, agreed in advance. The break comes before the board exam season, so use it for full sample papers under exam conditions, derivation practice and a check of the practical file. Midday home visits are often easier than early ones in the weeks before it.

What can a home tutor do for the 30 practical marks?

Quite a lot. The two experiments carry 7 marks each, the viva and the record 5 each, and the activity and project 3 each. A tutor can read the file entry by entry, rehearse precautions and sources of error, and run a mock viva before the exam.
