Tutoring in Leh: what to know
Tutoring around Leh means a small town and the villages of the Indus valley around it, which we group into three zones. Leh Town Centre is the Main Bazaar and old town, Housing Colony, Changspa and Sankar. To the south and west lie Choglamsar, Saboo, Spituk and Phyang. Across the river and to the east are Stok, the Chuchot villages, Shey and Thiksey. Almost every home is a family house reached at its own door, so there are few gates to sign in at; what you need instead is a good landmark, because house numbers are not always used. Most tutors get around by car or two-wheeler.
For boards, think CBSE first. CBSE's own affiliation list has a separate entry for Ladakh, and government high and higher secondary schools in Leh town, Housing Colony, Stok, Phyang, Thiksey and Chuchot appear on it alongside private schools. That makes NCERT chapters, CBSE sample papers and marking schemes the core of most home lessons here. A few students may follow CISCE, the IB or an IGCSE syllabus, and those learners can be taught online from Leh or at home if you know the board. Always check the school's board with the parent before the demo, so you plan the first lesson around the right books.
The calendar matters as much as the map. Leh's winter runs from late November to early March, with very cold mornings and a long school break, so tutors who can teach both at home and online keep their students through it. In summer, the bazaar and the Leh–Manali Highway near Choglamsar are busiest by day, which moves lessons to early or late slots. When a parent in, say, Spituk sends a request, NXTutors proposes two or three tutors, looking at that locality first, then the zone, then the rest of Leh and finally online. The parent reads your fee before a free first demo and can switch later at no charge.

Boards you can teach in Leh
CBSE is the board to know in Leh. CBSE's affiliation list gives Ladakh its own entry, and most of the Leh district schools on it are government high and higher secondary schools, with private schools alongside; CBSE's regional office at Mohali covers Ladakh. Affiliation is listed at secondary and senior secondary level. Some students may follow CISCE's ICSE and ISC, the IB Diploma or a Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel IGCSE syllabus; read each board's patterns on its official site, confirm the school's board with the family, and list your boards and classes on your profile.
CBSE
Secondary and senior secondary (Classes 9–12)
Government high and higher secondary schools across Leh district appear on CBSE's affiliation list, which has a separate entry for Ladakh. Base lessons on NCERT chapters, practise with CBSE's sample question papers and marking schemes from cbseacademic.nic.in, and teach students to set out each step of their working clearly, in the way those marking schemes lay answers out.
CISCE
Class 10 ICSE; Class 12 ISC
Should a Leh family ask about ICSE or ISC, prepare for long written papers, a wide syllabus, prescribed English literature texts and internal assessment work in several subjects. Such a student can be taught at home if you live nearby, or online. Take the regulations and specimen papers from cisce.org itself rather than from copies passed around.
IB
Classes 11–12 (two-year Diploma)
An IB Diploma student is most likely to be taught online from Leh. Internal Assessment and the Extended Essay count alongside the final exams, so you can explain the criteria and give feedback while the work stays the student's own. Plan each course from the subject guide on ibo.org and the command terms set out there.
With an IGCSE learner, check first whether the syllabus is Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel, because content and papers differ. Work through timed past papers against the published mark schemes, teach what each command word expects, and help the family understand tier entry. Online lessons let a Leh tutor take such students wherever they live.
