Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Most of what a Gujarat board family needs to know arrives through one website. Registrations, hall tickets, practical marks, results, rechecking, the purak exam and GUJCET all appear on gseb.org in turn, and a tutor who follows that cycle can plan the tuition year around it instead of reacting to each notice. This guide is for Bhavnagar parents of SSC and HSC students. It explains what the board runs, how its year unfolds on the portal, how to get hold of the board's question bank, why practical and internal marks deserve attention, how the medium changes tuition, how the General and Science streams differ, and how tutors reach six localities. Facts about the board come from its own website; where the site does not say something, we send you there rather than guess.
The board's full name is the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Gandhinagar. Its site uses the short form GSHSEB; families and tutors in Bhavnagar nearly always say GSEB. These are the parts of its work that shape tuition:
| Item | What it is | What it means for tuition |
|---|---|---|
| SSC | The public exam at the end of Standard 10 | Two years of steady written work lead into it |
| HSC General | The Standard 12 exam in the General stream | Tutors for calculation-based and long-answer subjects |
| HSC Science | The Standard 12 exam in the Science stream, with a practical exam | Subject specialists, and time kept for practicals |
| Purak exams | Supplementary exams after the main results, for SSC and both HSC streams | A short, focused spell of tuition for the subjects to clear |
| GUJCET | A test conducted by the board, with registration and hall tickets on its site | Runs beside HSC Science preparation |
| Question bank | Subject-wise questions for Standards 9 to 12 | Practice in the board's own style |
Looking at the portal across one cycle tells you when each kind of work has to be finished. In the 2025–26 cycle the home page carried, in roughly this order:
| Stage | What the portal listed | What the tutor should be doing |
|---|---|---|
| Registration | Separate exam registration for SSC, HSC General and HSC Science, for February–March 2026 | Syllabus nearly complete; the first full papers under time |
| Practical and internal marks | SSC internal and practical marks entry; HSC General and HSC Science practical marks entry; a hall ticket for the HSC Science practical exam | Practical files finished; diagrams and observations revised |
| Hall tickets | Separate hall tickets for SSC, HSC General and HSC Science | Short sessions on weak topics only; no new chapters |
| Results | Result 2026, and school result records | A calm review of the marks with the family |
| Rechecking | Applications for marks verification; for HSC Science also viewing of answer books and an OMR copy | Help the family decide whether a check is worth asking for |
| Purak | Purak registration for SSC, HSC Science and HSC General, then hall tickets and an assessment order | A tight plan for the subjects to clear |
The months change from year to year, and so can the steps. Use the table to understand the order of things, and take every date from the current notice on gseb.org or from your child's school.
The board publishes a subject-wise question bank for Standards 9 to 12, linked from its home page. When we opened the download page in October 2026, it asked for a login with the school's board-issued index number and password, with a password reset through the school's registered mobile number or email. In plain terms, the school downloads the bank, not the parent.
Because the bank starts at Standard 9, it is a hint that board preparation should start there as well.
The portal's marks-entry pages make one point clear: written papers are not the whole result. Schools enter internal and practical marks for the SSC. In the HSC General stream there was a practical-marks entry page as well, and HSC Science had a full practical exam with its own hall ticket. A tutor focused only on theory can leave marks on the table here.
Ask the tutor to look at the practical journal once a month, check that diagrams are labelled and observations recorded, and run a short viva-style question session before the practical exam. Physics, chemistry and biology tutors at HSC level should all do this; our Bhavnagar physics, chemistry and biology pages explain more.
Gujarati is the official language of the city, and GSEB students study in Gujarati medium or English medium. Name the medium first in any request; it narrows the tutor list more than anything else.
| When | Work in sessions | Sign it is going well |
|---|---|---|
| Standard 9, opening months | Mending old weak spots: fractions, equations, basic science terms | Homework comes back finished and mostly right |
| Standard 9, later months | Chapter-wise questions from the board's bank, written at the length the marks suggest | School test marks hold or climb |
| Standard 10, until the autumn break | Each new chapter practised the same week; extra maths or science sessions where needed | Tuition is level with, or slightly ahead of, school |
| Standard 10, after the break | Revision rounds, internal work closed, then papers against the clock | Your child completes a paper and leaves time to read it back |
For subject-level detail at this stage, see our maths and science pages for Bhavnagar.
Physics, chemistry and maths or biology carry the load, with a practical exam at the end. The jump from Standard 10 is steep, and the first month of Standard 11 is the right time for a foundations check in algebra, units and graphs. Plan on a separate tutor for any subject that is clearly weak.
Commerce and arts subjects; the portal lists a practical-marks entry for this stream too. Tutors help most in subjects with calculation, such as accounts, and in long written answers. Check the stream's subject list on gseb.org first, then ask each tutor which of those exact papers they have prepared students for.
If the choice is still open, read how to choose a board and stream well before Standard 11 begins.
GUJCET is conducted by the Gujarat board itself. In the 2026 cycle the board's website carried the GUJCET registration, the hall ticket and an application for a copy of the OMR sheet, so the same portal serves both the HSC and GUJCET. The paper's design is not covered on this page; the board's latest notice is the place for it.
A tutor's job is to keep the two kinds of practice from crowding each other out. Board papers reward complete working and neat presentation; a machine-marked test rewards speed and accuracy. Keep one written board answer in every session up to the main exam, add timed objective sets alongside, and shift the balance only after the board papers are done. Students also aiming at national exams can read JEE home tutor in Bhavnagar and NEET home tutor in Bhavnagar.
A tutor who lives on your side of the city keeps coming through the busy months. Notes for six localities:
Every locality is on our Bhavnagar home tutors page, and the Bhavnagar home tuition guide walks through each zone.
For SSC students, sitting at the same table lets the tutor spot a skipped line in a theorem or a missing label the moment it happens, which is why most families start with home visits. Recall drills from the question bank are just as good on a laptop or tablet. By the HSC years the week is crowded with school, practicals and often entrance work, and a mix of one visit and one brief online session usually holds up. A screen also rescues lessons on heavy-rain days and in the autumn festival weeks. See our online tuition in Bhavnagar page and the home or online tutor comparison.
You get two or three matched tutors for each request and see each fee before booking; the demo class costs nothing, and changing tutor later costs nothing either. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete. The demo class checklist has more questions.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Fees are set by tutors themselves and shown to you ahead of the demo. It is worth asking how many weekly sessions a tutor would advise for your child's standard, and what each would contain. Our post on home tuition fees in Bhavnagar and the pricing guide explain the factors behind a quote.
A request needs the standard and stream, the medium, the subjects, your locality with a circle or landmark, and the days that suit. The first lesson is a free demo. Families comparing CBSE or ICSE can read CBSE home tutor in Bhavnagar and ICSE home tutor in Bhavnagar. Board pages for other Gujarat cities include Rajkot and Ahmedabad, and our hubs for Rajkot and Ahmedabad cover home tuition there. Browse tutor profiles, or, if you teach state-board subjects, see tuition jobs in Bhavnagar.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each GSEB tutor in Bhavnagar sets their own fee, and you see it before the demo class.
A Bhavnagar parent should send the standard and stream, the medium, the subjects, the locality with a circle or landmark, and the days that suit. We reply with two or three matched tutors and show each fee before booking. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.
The Gujarat board runs the SSC at the end of Standard 10 and the HSC at Standard 12, in General and Science streams, for Bhavnagar students. It also holds purak (supplementary) exams after the main results and conducts GUJCET. Take every date from the current notices on gseb.org.
Usually not, because the GSEB question bank download page asks for the school's board-issued index number and password. The bank covers Standards 9 to 12, subject by subject. Ask your child's school for the file or a printout, and share it with the tutor so weekly practice follows the board's own style.
Yes, practical and internal marks matter, because the board collects them separately from the written papers. In 2026 the portal had marks-entry pages for SSC internal and practical work and for HSC practicals, and HSC Science had its own practical exam hall ticket. Ask the tutor to check the practical journal monthly.
Yes, Gujarat board tutors in Bhavnagar can teach in Gujarati medium, English medium or a mix. State the medium first, since it narrows the tutor list more than anything else. The tutor may explain in either language, but written practice should always use the exact terms of your child's textbook.
After a disappointing SSC or HSC result, a Bhavnagar student can apply for marks verification or prepare for the purak exam. In 2026 the portal took verification applications, and for HSC Science also viewing of answer books and an OMR copy. A short subject-by-subject purak plan with past papers usually works.
GUJCET fits beside HSC Science preparation because the Gujarat board conducts both, with GUJCET registration, hall tickets and OMR copy applications on its website in 2026. Keep one written board answer in every session up to the main exam and add timed objective sets alongside. Read the current GUJCET notice for its design.
State-board tutors reach Fulsar from Chitra or the centre, Adhewada from Sardarnagar, and Akwada from the Ghogha Circle or Krishnanagar side. Send the society or lane name and a pin for Fulsar, the nearest highway junction for Adhewada, and Akwada Lake as a landmark, with a rainy-day online plan agreed in advance.
At the demo, ask a Gujarat board tutor which standard and stream they have taught recently and whether they will teach in your medium. Ask how they will use the board's question bank, how practical and internal marks will be handled, and for HSC Science, how GUJCET will fit.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
