What home tuition costs in Bhavnagar

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Example only, not a quote: one subject, one-hour classes, 4 weeks a month. Your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.
Classes a week Classes a month At ₹800 an hour At ₹2,500 an hour
2 8 ₹6,400 a month ₹20,000 a month
3 12 ₹9,600 a month ₹30,000 a month

Why one-to-one home tuition costs more than group coaching

In a coaching batch, one teacher's hour is shared by many students, so each family pays for a part of it. At home the whole hour is your child's: the pace, the questions and the homework check follow one student, and the tutor's travel to your home is part of the working day. A small group of two or three children from the same society usually costs less per child, with less individual attention.

Home tuition in Bhavnagar: a parent's guide from Vadva to Akwada

Bhavnagar grew outward from one old village. The city was founded in 1723 near Vadva, and the lanes that still carry that name sit on the north side of the centre. Around them came the newer quarters that people call modern Bhavnagar: the Takhteshwar Plots around the hillock in the middle of town, Krishnanagar, laid out in the 1930s, and Sardarnagar, which joined the city in 1961. Today homes stretch from Chitra and Nari Road in the west to Akwada and Tarsamiya in the south-east. Most children here sit the Gujarat board's SSC and HSC papers, others follow CBSE or ICSE, and the medium at school may be Gujarati or English. For a parent looking for a tutor, two questions settle most of the choice: who can reach your door every week, and what exactly the tutor should fix.

How does a Bhavnagar request turn into a tutor at your door?

Send us a short note. Mention the standard, the board and medium, the chapters or subjects that worry you, your locality and the circle or junction closest to home, the free hours on school days, and whether the tutor should visit, teach by video or do both. If you have a monthly figure in mind, add it so our suggestions stay realistic. You then receive two or three matched tutors; every fee is shown to you ahead of any meeting, and the opening lesson with your chosen tutor is a free demo. In Bhavnagar, four details shape the shortlist more than anything:

  • Which side of the centre you live on. Kalanala sits in the middle, so tutors from most directions can reach it, but a home in Sidsar, Fulsar or Tarsamiya on the city's edge is easier for someone who already lives on that side.
  • Gujarati or English medium. A child who reads science in Gujarati needs a tutor who can explain in Gujarati and still teach the English terms, while an English-medium child may need help writing full answers in English.
  • The board and, from Standard 11, the stream. GSEB's HSC has a Science stream and a General stream, and a tutor strong in accounts is rarely the right person for physics.
  • An address a newcomer can follow. Long roads such as Waghawadi Road and Nari Road need a side, a cross road and a society name; split areas such as Sardarnagar need North or South.

Ask the tutor to teach the chapter your child is stuck on right now, so the demo shows real teaching. When it does not click, say so: another name from the shortlist steps in, and moving to a different tutor later, even well into the term, is free.

Bhavnagar in five zones

Bhavnagar shortlists come out of the tutor profiles listed with us, and 18 Bhavnagar localities are given separate pages. Every one of those pages ranks tutors the same way: first people living in the locality, next people already willing to go there, after them the wider zone, then Bhavnagar at large and lastly online tutors. For home visits we think in five zones, described below from the middle of the city outwards: Kalanala and Waghawadi Road, Kaliyabid and Vidhyanagar, Sardarnagar and Tarsamiya, Krishnanagar and Ghogha Circle and Chitra and Nari Road. The zones are our own grouping for tutor travel. They follow the way the municipal corporation pairs its service wards, but they are not official boundaries.

Kalanala and Waghawadi Road: the old core and the middle of town

Kalanala is the junction almost every resident uses as a first marker, partly because the municipal corporation's head office stands near it. Roads run out from here towards the hillock of Takhteshwar, whose streets, often called the Takhteshwar Plots, are among the parts the city counts as modern Bhavnagar; the corporation also uses Takhteshwar as a ward name. Vadva is the oldest name of all, the village the city was founded beside, and it is now split into two wards, Vadva-A and Vadva-B. Waghawadi Road runs south from the centre, with shops, flats and houses along it and residential societies opening off its lanes.

Because this belt sits in the middle, tutors living on almost any side of the city can reach it, so families here usually get the widest choice of subject teachers. The trade-off is detail. In Vadva, older homes stand close together and several generations often share a house, so name the entrance and plan a quiet corner for the lesson. On Waghawadi Road, the road name alone is not enough: give the side, the nearest cross road or circle, and the society and floor. A weekday slot soon after school lets the tutor arrive before the evening rush.

Kaliyabid and Vidhyanagar: societies by the lake and the forest park

Kaliyabid lies on the south-western side of the city and lends its name to a corporation ward it shares with Sidsar and Adhewada. Next to it is Vidhyanagar, also written Vidyanagar, around the Kaliyabid water tank circle. Close by is the protected forest park on the edge of Bortalav lake, laid out in 1888 and described by the corporation as one of the oldest human-made forests in India; its listed addresses fall in Kaliyabid and Vidhyanagar. Sidsar sits further out on the same side, reached by Sidsar Road.

Many homes here are in residential societies, so the society name, block and flat number tell a tutor more than any road name. Where a society has a guard, pass on the tutor's name before the demo. The water tank circle and the forest park are the markers to give first. Sidsar is at the city's edge, so the nearest tutor may travel in from Kaliyabid or Vidhyanagar; a map pin and a fixed weekend slot make that easier to keep up for a whole term.

Sardarnagar and Tarsamiya: the south and the south-eastern edge

Sardarnagar joined Bhavnagar in 1961 and is big enough for the corporation to split it into North Sardarnagar and South Sardarnagar wards. Sardarnagar Circle, with its garden, is the point most people name when giving directions. Bharatnagar lies by the main road from Talaja Jakatnaka towards Ghogha Road. Tarsamiya, near its lake on the south-eastern edge, is grouped with North Sardarnagar in one ward, and Adhewada stretches along the highway towards Mahuva and appears in two ward names, one with Kaliyabid and Sidsar, the other with South Sardarnagar.

The spellings vary here, and that matters on a request. Tarsamiya is also written Tarsimiya and Tarasmiya, so give the spelling your family uses and add Sardarnagar as a reference point. In Sardarnagar itself, start with North or South, then the block or society and the nearest circle. Fewer tutors live right inside the edge areas, so the closest match for Tarsamiya or Adhewada may ride in from Sardarnagar or Bharatnagar. Longer, less frequent lessons can suit a tutor travelling that far.

Krishnanagar and Ghogha Circle: planned streets and a busy junction

Krishnanagar was laid out between 1935 and 1937, and its regular streets of homes are part of what the city calls modern Bhavnagar. The corporation names a North Krushnanagar ward, so you will see the spellings Krushnanagar and Krishna Nagar too. Ghogha Circle, on the road towards the town of Ghogha, is one of the circles with a garden that Bhavnagar is known for, and several roads branch from it. The corporation joins it in one ward with Akwada, once a village of Bhavnagar taluka, where Akwada Lake, listed by the corporation among the city's places to visit, is the usual landmark.

Ghogha Road, a main road through the eastern side of central Bhavnagar, links much of this zone. Near the circle, name the road you live on as well as the circle, plus the building or a shop beside it, and avoid booking the busiest hour of the evening. In Krishnanagar, the street and a corner landmark are usually enough. Akwada lies towards the edge, so a tutor may come from the Krishnanagar side; agree early that a heavy-rain day in the monsoon becomes an online lesson rather than a missed one.

Chitra and Nari Road: the western and north-western side

Chitra is on the western side of the city and gives its name to one of the state industrial estates of the Bhavnagar region, with homes and societies nearby. It forms one corporation ward with Fulsar and Nari, served from the west zone office at Akhlol Jakatnaka. Nari Road runs out on the north-western side towards the village of Nari, and Nari Chowkdi is the junction most people mention. Kumbharwada, which the corporation spells Kumbharvada, has a ward of its own on the northern side, with its ward office on Nari Road, and residents tell Kumbharwada and New Kumbharwada apart.

Addresses on this side can be spread out. On Nari Road, say how far along you live, near the city end, near Nari Chowkdi or in between, and which gate of the society to use. In Fulsar, send a map pin with the lane or society name. In Kumbharwada, write which part you are in before the street and house number. Tutors living in Chitra or Kumbharwada often find the whole zone easy to cover, and where a parent's working hours change from week to week, two agreed slots work better than rearranging every lesson.

Gujarat board, CBSE, CISCE or an international syllabus: what changes for the tutor?

Most Bhavnagar students write GSEB papers, and some follow a national or international syllabus instead. Tell us which exam your child will face at the end of the year; a tutor at home with one paper's style can be a stranger to the next.

SystemWhat it involvesA question for the tutor
GSEB: Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Gandhinagar The SSC examination in Standard 10; the HSC examination in Standard 12 in the General and Science streams; purak (supplementary) exams after the main February–March papers; a subject-wise question bank for Standards 9 to 12 on gseb.org. Will you teach in my child's medium, Gujarati or English, and practise from the board's own question bank?
CBSE NCERT textbooks at the centre, with questions that test whether a concept can be applied, not just repeated. How will you train full written answers as well as short and objective questions?
CISCE: ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) A wide spread of subjects examined through lengthy written answers, with set English texts and internal project work. Which ICSE or ISC subjects have you taught recently, and how do you plan revision across all of them?
IB Diploma and Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel IGCSE IB grades combine internal coursework with final exams; IGCSE preparation leans on past papers and examiner mark schemes. Can you give feedback on the Internal Assessment or Extended Essay while the writing stays my child's own?

GSEB also runs GUJCET, with registration, hall tickets and OMR copies issued through its website, and it handles registration for the state open school. Exam patterns, notices and timetables can change from one year to the next, so read them on gseb.org rather than from a photocopy passed down from an older cousin. Our pages for Gujarat board tutors in Bhavnagar, CBSE home tutors in Bhavnagar and ICSE home tutors in Bhavnagar cover each board separately. For IB or IGCSE, a specialist teaching by video is often the practical answer.

How does the tutor's job change from Standard 1 to Standard 12?

Up to Standard 8: reading, writing and number sense

In the early years a child is often learning to read and write in Gujarati and English side by side, and the habits formed now carry forward. A good tutor checks that tables, place value and fractions are secure, that the notebook is complete, and that the child can read a word problem aloud and say what it asks. Three shorter lessons a week usually beat one long one for a young child, and where siblings share a tutor, give each child a separate block of time.

Standards 9 and 10: building towards the SSC

Maths and Science grow heavier in Standard 9, and the SSC year follows straight after. The tutor's job is to keep chapters from piling up, practise answers in the board's style, and use the GSEB question bank as the year goes on. A student moving from Gujarati-medium books to English-medium papers needs the terms taught in both. CBSE families can lean on two NCERT-linked posts of ours, a Class 10 Maths preparation plan and Science notes for Class 10.

Standards 11 and 12: one stream, the right specialist

The step into Standard 11 is steep in both HSC streams. In Science, new ideas in physics and chemistry arrive with much more maths, and a weak first term follows the student into Standard 12. In the General stream, accounts, economics, statistics and English writing are the usual gaps. Put a specialist on the subject that worries you most. For the final year, see our Physics strategies for Class 12 and the Class 12 calculus and algebra post.

Which subjects do Bhavnagar families ask tutors for?

From Standard 9 upwards, Maths and the sciences are often where help is needed first, but tutors listed with us also teach English, Gujarati, Hindi, Sanskrit, Social Science, Computer Science, Accountancy, Statistics, Economics and Business Studies; a single tutor can usually handle all subjects for a primary child. The core subjects each have a Bhavnagar page: maths, science, physics, chemistry, biology and English.

How can you spot a capable subject tutor in the first few weeks? A Maths tutor asks your child to redo one wrong sum aloud and finds where the reasoning broke, which is often in a chapter from an earlier standard. A Physics tutor wants a sketch and a sentence about the situation before any formula goes down. A Chemistry tutor sets a little of each branch every week, so reactions learnt in July are still fresh in February; our guide to Class 12 Organic and Inorganic Chemistry sets out that rhythm. An English tutor working with a child from Gujarati-medium books explains new words through Gujarati first, then has the child write and speak short English answers every lesson; our spoken English post has more exercises.

How can a home tutor help with GUJCET, JEE Main or NEET from Bhavnagar?

An HSC Science student may also be preparing for an entrance test while working through the board year. A tutor helps most when given one clear job, not a vague promise to cover everything. The four jobs families ask for most often are:

  1. A weekly doubt session. The student brings the questions they could not solve, and nothing new starts until those are cleared.
  2. Board answers first. HSC papers reward complete written answers, diagrams and steps, which multiple-choice practice does not train.
  3. Timed practice. Ten or so questions from the subject your child dreads, attempted against the clock, then marked together step by step.
  4. One plan for two goals. The board syllabus and the entrance syllabus overlap a great deal, so revision can be planned to serve both.

Keep to official sources for the tests themselves. GUJCET is conducted by GSEB, and its registration, hall tickets and OMR copies come through gseb.org. JEE (Main) and NEET (UG) are conducted by the National Testing Agency, so the eligibility, syllabus and dates for each year belong to the information bulletin on nta.ac.in; JEE Advanced, open only to candidates who clear JEE Main, is run separately through jeeadv.ac.in. In NEET, Biology carries half of the paper's marks, so the NCERT Biology text deserves slow, careful reading. For more, see JEE tutors in Bhavnagar, NEET tutors in Bhavnagar, and the posts we keep on Maths for JEE, topic by topic, JEE Physics by topic, physical, organic and inorganic Chemistry for JEE and NEET Biology built on NCERT.

Is home tuition or online tuition the better choice in Bhavnagar?

Neither is better in every case. A tutor sitting beside the child helps most with young learners up to roughly Standard 5, with anyone who drifts off in front of a laptop, and with Maths or Accounts, where you want to see each step written out. Teaching by video lets you choose from tutors across the country, which counts when the syllabus is IB or IGCSE, the ISC subject is an unusual one, or the entrance problems are hard. In Bhavnagar, these points usually settle it:

  • Two wheels or an auto. That is how most tutors get around the city. If lessons run three or four times a week, someone from your own zone tends to stay the course better than a tutor crossing Bhavnagar each evening.
  • Homes at the edge. In Sidsar, Fulsar, Tarsamiya or Akwada, the nearest tutors may live a zone away, so a local tutor for school subjects plus a video specialist for one hard subject is a sensible mix.
  • Junction hours. Kalanala and Ghogha Circle slow down after work; a slot before that, or a video lesson on the busiest weekday, keeps things on time.
  • Heavy rain. Settle in the first week that a rain-soaked evening means a video lesson, not a gap in the timetable.

Plenty of families settle on one tutor who visits two or three times a week and adds a quick video session before a class test. See online tutors for Bhavnagar and our comparison of home and online tutoring.

What do home tutors in Bhavnagar charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

NXTutors does not set the rate; tutors name their own, and the fee of each shortlisted tutor is in front of you before the demo is booked. Two fees are only comparable once you know what each covers, so ask every tutor:

  • Is a session an hour, ninety minutes or something else, and how many sessions would you plan each week?
  • Is GUJCET, JEE or NEET work charged at a different rate from SSC or HSC school work?
  • Would a visit to our side of the city, say Sidsar or Akwada, change the slot you can offer?
  • If you or my child cancels, is the session made up, and how much notice do you want?

If money is tight, put it where the marks are slipping most. A single good tutor for that one subject usually does more than thin coverage of four. We leave out anyone priced above the monthly figure you share with us. To see rates broken down by class and subject, open the pricing guide, and for a local view, our post on home tuition fees in Bhavnagar.

What should you watch for in the free demo class?

Qualifications on a profile get a tutor onto your list; the demo shows whether they can teach your child. Stay in the next room with the door open, or talk to your child once the tutor leaves, and think about these:

  • Before opening a book, did the tutor find out the board, the medium and when the next school test falls?
  • Did a handful of quick questions come first, to find your child's level, or did the lesson begin at chapter one regardless?
  • Was the language right: Gujarati where needed, English where the paper demands it?
  • With an HSC student, did the tutor know which subjects that stream carries and how the papers are set?
  • When you asked about the SSC or HSC paper, was the answer specific, or a general reassurance?
  • Who did most of the work: your child with a pen, or the tutor at the whiteboard?
  • Does the time you agreed fit the tutor's own week, given where they are coming from?

Small arrangements help the first visit go smoothly. Share the lane or society name, the house number, the nearest circle and a map pin; if a guard sits at the gate, give them the tutor's name the day before. Keep lessons in a room the family uses, with an adult in the house. Two posts go into more detail: a checklist for the demo class and help with picking a board or stream.

When in the year should tuition start?

There is no wrong month to begin, though the tutor's priorities shift as the year goes on. Go by the dates your school and board publish; the outline below is only a rough map:

  • When the new school year opens. Old gaps are easiest to repair before fresh chapters pile on, and tutors still have open slots to offer.
  • Through the rains. Hold the weekly pattern steady, with a video lesson as the agreed fallback when the weather turns.
  • Around the autumn holidays. A few quieter weeks are normal; plan extra sessions on either side of the break.
  • The cooler months. Wrap up the syllabus, then switch to complete papers, the GSEB question bank and the school's preliminary exams.
  • Board exam season. GSEB's main SSC and HSC papers have been held in February and March; entrance tests follow, and each year's dates come only from gseb.org and nta.ac.in.

If a result goes badly, a tutor can also prepare a student for the purak (supplementary) exam, working only on the subjects that need it. CBSE and ICSE families should go by their own board's calendar. An early start buys the most time, but a tutor who joins in winter still earns their place by drilling past papers and timing.

Ready to find a tutor in Bhavnagar?

Begin with the note described near the start of this page: standard, board, stream, medium, locality with its nearest circle, and the free hours. When the two or three suggestions arrive, compare them with their fees in view and pick one tutor for the free demo. Only after that hour do you need to decide anything. If you would rather look around first, open your locality from the list here, read through profiles of tutors, or go directly to booking a free demo class. Where nobody nearby teaches the subject yet, a tutor on video can begin this week.

Our Bhavnagar home tuition guide takes the five zones one at a time, from the old lanes of Vadva and the Kalanala junction to the edges at Sidsar, Tarsamiya and Nari Road.

Elsewhere in Gujarat, NXTutors also covers Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Vadodara, Surat and Gandhinagar; every city we serve appears on the city list.
