What home tuition costs in Jamshedpur

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Example only, not a quote: one subject, one-hour classes, 4 weeks a month. Your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.
Classes a week Classes a month At ₹800 an hour At ₹2,500 an hour
2 8 ₹6,400 a month ₹20,000 a month
3 12 ₹9,600 a month ₹30,000 a month

Why one-to-one home tuition costs more than group coaching

In a coaching batch, one teacher's hour is shared by many students, so each family pays for a part of it. At home the whole hour is your child's: the pace, the questions and the homework check follow one student, and the tutor's travel to your home is part of the working day. A small group of two or three children from the same society usually costs less per child, with less individual attention.

Home tuition in Jamshedpur: a parent's map from Sonari to Mango

Jamshedpur is a river city. The Subarnarekha curves along its north and the Kharkai along its west, and the two meet at Domuhani, at the tip of Sonari. The planned town grew from 1904 around the steel works at Sakchi, and it still reads as a set of neighbourhoods with clear edges: the old market core of Sakchi and Bistupur, the western residential belt of Kadma and Sonari, the station side at Tatanagar and Jugsalai, the colonies of the east, and Mango and Dimna across the Subarnarekha. Adityapur and Mango have civic bodies of their own. With no metro and two rivers to cross, a bridge is often what decides whether a tutor can reach you.

Matching a Jamshedpur family with the right tutor

Start with a single request: class, board, the subjects that need help, your neighbourhood and the nearest market or golchakkar, the days and times that are free, and whether you prefer home lessons, online lessons or both. We send back two or three matched tutors. Their fees are shown before you commit to anything, the first class with your chosen tutor is a free demo, and a change of tutor later on is free too. Four Jamshedpur questions shape the list:

  • Which bank are you on? Mango and Dimna sit across the Subarnarekha, Adityapur and Gamharia across the Kharkai. A tutor from your own bank avoids a daily bridge crossing.
  • Quarters, house or society? Township quarters and plotted houses are usually a knock at the door; apartment societies, common in Sonari and Adityapur, want a name at the gate.
  • Where the traffic bunches. Sakchi Golchakkar, the Bistupur shopping roads, the station crossing at Tatanagar and Dimna Chowk are the spots to time around.
  • The exact exam. A JAC Class 10 student and an ISC Class 12 science student need different people, so board and class are matched as a pair.

The demo is a normal lesson on the chapter your child is doing at school that week, so you see the tutor teach material that actually matters.

Jamshedpur, zone by zone

Tutors listed for Jamshedpur are drawn from our tutor profiles, and 18 neighbourhoods have their own pages, showing local tutors first, then tutors from the wider zone, the city and finally online teachers. We plan home lessons across five zones: Central Jamshedpur, West Jamshedpur and the Kharkai side, South Jamshedpur and Tatanagar, East Jamshedpur and Mango and Dimna. The zones are our own planning units, not municipal wards, and they include Adityapur, Jugsalai and Mango even though each has its own civic body.

Central Jamshedpur: the market core around Sakchi and Bistupur

Sakchi is where the city began: a village chosen in 1904 as the site for the steel plant, whose first ingot was rolled on 16 February 1912. It has the city's oldest market and one of its busiest intersections at Sakchi Golchakkar. Bistupur, one of the earliest settlements in the town plan, is now the main business address, with showrooms, hotels and offices, and quieter lanes of flats and older bungalows behind them. Circuit House Area is a compact pocket of houses between Sakchi, Kasidih and Baradwari. Golmuri is known for its market and for quiet, green streets away from it, and Sidhgora, beside Agrico and Vidyapati Nagar, mixes older homes with newer buildings.

Straight Mile Road, the longest arterial road in the city, and Kalimati Road carry much of the zone's traffic. Tatanagar is the main station for these families, with the smaller Salgajhari halt used from Golmuri. Because the zone is central, a tutor from Kadma or Sonari can reach Circuit House Area or Bistupur without crossing a river. Market hours are the thing to avoid: a slot before the evening rush in Sakchi or Bistupur is far easier to keep.

West Jamshedpur and the Kharkai side: Kadma, Sonari and across the river

Sonari is often described as the largest residential area of the city, with one of the highest numbers of housing societies. It is split into North, West, East and South layouts, has the city's small airport, and reaches Domuhani at its northern tip. Kadma next door combines older company quarters with privately built apartment buildings, with Kadma Market as its landmark. Across the Kharkai, Adityapur is a separate municipal corporation in Seraikela Kharsawan district, wrapped by the river on three sides, with a large industrial area beside its colonies, and Gamharia lies beyond it on the Kandra road, mostly plots and independent houses.

Two bridges cross the Kharkai from Adityapur, one to Bistupur and one to Kadma, and Marine Drive links Sonari with Kadma, Adityapur, Sakchi and Bistupur. The four-lane Domuhani bridge joins Sonari to Dobo on the Chandil side. Adityapur station and Gamharia Junction lie on the Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai line, and NH 118 runs through Adityapur towards Kandra. Society gates are the rule in Sonari; Kadma's quarters are doorstep visits. Bridge traffic peaks at office hours, so evening slots work better slightly later.

South Jamshedpur and Tatanagar: the station side

Tatanagar Junction opened in 1910 under the name Kalimati and was renamed in 1919. It sits on the Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai line, the Asansol–Tatanagar–Kharagpur line and the branch towards Badampahar. Jugsalai, right beside the station, is a township with its own municipal council, often called the city's wholesale market, and its first police station opened in 1912; its housing is largely builder-built flats plus older homes in the market lanes. On the far side of the station, Parsudih runs towards the Chaibasa highway and takes in Pramatha Nagar, Haludbani and Khasmahal, while Burmamines, often written Burma Mines, is mostly independent houses.

Most families here live in houses or modest buildings rather than large gated complexes, so tutors are usually received at the door. Jugsalai's market streets crowd during trading hours, which makes early-morning or later evening slots the norm there. Around the station, train times bring extra traffic to the crossing and the station roads, and for Parsudih the school-time traffic at the station crossing is worth planning around. Tutors from Jugsalai, Parsudih and Burmamines can cover each other's neighbourhoods without crossing a river.

East Jamshedpur: Telco Colony, Birsanagar, Baridih and Govindpur

Telco Colony is a planned township built for the workforce of a nearby vehicle works, a mix of township quarters and privately built flats. Birsanagar is a large residential area divided into twelve zones, each split further, with Birsanagar Market and Plaza Market for shopping. Baridih marks the eastern end of Straight Mile Road, which runs from here to Dhatkidih, and has flats and houses around Baridih Market. Govindpur, near Gadhra and Jojobera, is known for affordable plots and independent houses, and has a passenger halt at Subhash Nagar in Khankripara on the Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai line.

Salgajhari is the local rail point for Telco Colony and Birsanagar, and Golmuri Road leads back to the centre. Housing is mostly houses on plotted lanes and township quarters, so parking at the door is normal, though newer apartment buildings sign visitors in. In Birsanagar, always give the zone number and a landmark when booking a demo. Slots near Telco Colony are easiest once shift traffic has cleared, and on Straight Mile Road once office traffic eases.

Mango and Dimna: the suburb across the Subarnarekha

Mango lies on the far bank of the Subarnarekha, joined to Sakchi by three bridges laid side by side, and is run by its own civic body. It has grown from a small town into a large residential suburb, with apartment complexes, builder buildings and houses around Jawahar Nagar, Jharkhand Colony, Azad Nagar and Pardih. Dimna, beside Ripit Colony, is a residential locality on the same side of the river, with Dimna Lake, one of the city's drinking water reservoirs, further out.

NH 18 passes through, running from Dhanbad via Purulia to Baharagora, Baripada and Balasore, and Dimna Chowk is a key junction on it. An elevated corridor is being built on the highway from Pardih Kali Mandir to Baliguma via Dimna Chowk to take heavy vehicles off local roads; until it opens, the Mango bridge and the Pardih and Dimna junctions are slow at busy hours. Buses and autos run regularly between Sakchi and Mango, but a tutor who lives on this bank is usually the easiest to keep.

Which boards do Jamshedpur students follow?

Three boards cover most requests from Jamshedpur. The right tutor is the one who knows your child's paper well, not simply the subject. Students on IB or Cambridge IGCSE courses usually work with an online specialist from elsewhere in India.

JAC, the Jharkhand state board

The Jharkhand Academic Council is the state's board and holds the Class 10 and Class 12 examinations for its affiliated schools. A JAC student needs a tutor who teaches from the prescribed textbooks and practises in the style of the council's own papers. Syllabus changes, timetables and the exam pattern should be read from the council's official notices each year, not from last year's notes.

CBSE

CBSE builds its papers on NCERT textbooks and now gives many marks to applying ideas: case-based questions, assertion–reason items and problems in unfamiliar settings. Look for a tutor who starts with the NCERT text, works through the official sample papers and marking scheme, and insists on written steps so that partial credit is secured even when the final answer slips.

ICSE and ISC

CISCE conducts the ICSE after Class 10 and the ISC after Class 12. Answers are long, the syllabus is broad, and English carries set literature texts. Coverage is usually the real hurdle, so a tutor should run a revision cycle that revisits every chapter, set timed written answers, and keep an eye on internal assessment and project work.

What a tutor should work on at each stage

Up to Class 8

These years are about foundations: reading carefully, working sums in the head, fractions and first algebra, and presenting work neatly. One or two unhurried lessons a week with the tutor beside the child tend to do more than daily drills.

Classes 9 and 10

Class 9 raises the level in Maths and Science sharply, and any weakness carried from it shows up in the board year. Finish each chapter with a short test and switch to whole papers from winter. See our Class 10 Maths plan and the Class 10 Science notes.

Classes 11 and 12

In the senior years a subject specialist is worth more than an all-rounder. Physics and Maths cause science students the most trouble, and Accountancy troubles many commerce students. Our Physics strategies for Class 12 and Class 12 calculus and algebra cover the final year.

Subjects covered by Jamshedpur tutors

Across NXTutors, tutors teach Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, Computer Science, Accountancy, Economics, Business Studies and Hindi, and many take all subjects for primary-school children. Jamshedpur has separate pages for maths home tutors in Jamshedpur, science home tutors, physics home tutors and chemistry home tutors. In Class 12, Chemistry splits into three quite different kinds of study, calculation-based Physical, reaction-based Organic and memory-based Inorganic, and our guide to Organic and Inorganic Chemistry explains how to divide the time.

Can a home tutor sit alongside JEE or NEET coaching?

Yes. Many Jamshedpur students in Classes 11 and 12 already go to entrance coaching, and the tutor's role is to support that work rather than repeat it. The value shows up in three places:

  • Unsolved sheets and test errors. A weekly session that works through what coaching left unfinished and what went wrong in the last test.
  • One plan for two goals. Class 12 NCERT content underlies both the board paper and the entrance exams, so revision can be shared.
  • The subject holding back the score. Extra hours on the weakest subject bring the biggest gain.

NTA conducts JEE Main in two sessions during the first half of the year; candidates who qualify can sit JEE Advanced. NEET UG takes place once a year and Biology makes up half its marks, so the NCERT Biology books need thorough reading. Rely on the official information bulletin for each year's dates. For topic-by-topic plans, see JEE Maths, JEE Physics, JEE Chemistry and NEET Biology built on NCERT. On nights when coaching runs late, an online doubt session replaces the home visit neatly.

Home lessons or online lessons in Jamshedpur?

Home lessons suit younger children and subjects where the tutor needs to watch every line of working, such as Maths and numerical Chemistry. Online lessons bring in tutors from across India, which helps with ISC electives, specialist senior papers, IB and IGCSE. Jamshedpur's geography pushes the choice in particular ways:

  • The rivers. A daily crossing of the Subarnarekha to Mango or the Kharkai to Adityapur adds time; a tutor from the same bank is the better long-term bet, and online fills the gaps.
  • No metro. Tutors come by two-wheeler, auto or bus, so neighbourhood distance matters more than in a rail-linked city.
  • The outer edges. In Gamharia, Govindpur and Dimna, a nearby tutor for regular school subjects plus an online specialist for senior work is a common pattern.
  • Road works. While the elevated corridor on NH 18 is being built, evenings around Mango and Dimna are good candidates for online lessons.

Plenty of families keep one tutor for both formats, meeting at home once a week and online for short doubt sessions. Our home tutor or online tutor comparison lays out the choice.

How much will a Jamshedpur home tutor charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors decide their own rates, and three factors usually explain the differences:

  • The level. Lessons for younger classes generally cost less than senior or entrance-focused teaching.
  • The specialism. Advanced problem-solving for JEE and demanding senior papers command the most.
  • The bridge. A tutor crossing a river to reach you may price in the trip; one from your own side rarely needs to.

You see each shortlisted tutor's fee before the demo, and nobody above your budget is put forward. The pricing guide gives a class-by-class view, and our post on home tuition fees in Jamshedpur looks at the city.

Five things to watch in the free demo class

The profile puts a tutor on your list, and the demo shows whether to keep them. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the teaching itself is yours to judge. Look for:

  1. A quick diagnosis. The tutor checks what your child knows before explaining anything new.
  2. Your child doing the work. Problems solved by the student, not demonstrated at length.
  3. Paper sense. A clear answer on how the JAC, CBSE or CISCE paper is set for that class.
  4. The next four weeks. A short plan and a way for you to see progress.
  5. A dependable journey. Which bridge or road, and whether the same slot works every week.

If you live in an apartment society, pass the tutor's name to the gate before the demo; for quarters or a plotted house, share the house number, road and the nearest market, and for Birsanagar the zone number too. Hold lessons in a common room with an adult present. Read our parents' demo checklist and the guide on picking a board and stream.

When in the school year to start

The CBSE session starts in April, while JAC and CISCE schools follow calendars announced in their own notices. Most board years move through five stages:

  • April to June: fresh textbooks and the summer holidays, the easiest window for catching up and starting well.
  • July to September: steady lessons in step with school, chapter tests and, for many, first-term exams.
  • October to December: completing the syllabus, with many schools holding pre-boards around the new year.
  • January to March: board exams after sample-paper practice, and the first JEE Main session.
  • April to May: the second JEE Main session, JEE Advanced and NEET UG.

Take every date from the official notices. An April start gives the most room, and a winter start is still worthwhile if the focus shifts to full papers and technique.
