What home tuition costs in Belgaum

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Example only, not a quote: one subject, one-hour classes, 4 weeks a month. Your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.
Classes a week Classes a month At ₹800 an hour At ₹2,500 an hour
2 8 ₹6,400 a month ₹20,000 a month
3 12 ₹9,600 a month ₹30,000 a month

Why one-to-one home tuition costs more than group coaching

In a coaching batch, one teacher's hour is shared by many students, so each family pays for a part of it. At home the whole hour is your child's: the pace, the questions and the homework check follow one student, and the tutor's travel to your home is part of the working day. A small group of two or three children from the same society usually costs less per child, with less individual attention.

Home tuition in Belagavi: a family's guide from Camp to Kanbargi

Belagavi (Belgaum), the city's name until 2014 and the one many families still type when they look for a tutor, is a city where Kannada, Marathi and English are all heard at home, often in the same household. Its neighbourhoods fall into a handful of clear parts. Camp, the old cantonment, lies west of the centre, with Hanuman Nagar and Sahyadri Nagar beyond it. Tilakwadi and its neighbours fill the south around Goaves Circle and Gogte Circle. Shahapur, Vadgaon and Khasbag hold the south-east, with Shastri Nagar beside the railway station. Sadashiv Nagar and Nehru Nagar make up the north, and Mahantesh Nagar, Ramteerth Nagar and Kanbargi stretch out to the north-east. For a parent, two questions decide most of the rest: which tutor lives near enough to come every week, and in which language and board your child needs the help.

From first message to first lesson: how a Belagavi request works

It starts with a short message from you. Give us your child's class and board, the subjects that are causing trouble, your locality with a circle, road or shop a tutor can find, the hours that stay free once school is over, and whether you want lessons at home, online or a mix. If you have a monthly budget in mind, mention it so the shortlist stays realistic. We come back with two or three matched tutors, you can see each tutor's fee before you meet anyone, and whichever tutor you pick teaches the opening lesson as a free demo. In Belagavi, four details shape the match more than anything else:

  • Which side of the city you live on. A tutor based in Tilakwadi moves easily to Hindwadi or Bhagya Nagar but may find Kanbargi a long ride; a tutor from your own part of the city is the one most likely to stay for the whole year.
  • The language of the lesson. Tell us whether your child follows explanations most easily in Kannada, Marathi, English or a mix. A Kannada-medium student moving into English papers needs a different tutor from an English-medium child who finds Kannada as a second language hard.
  • The board, and whether it might change. State syllabus, CBSE and ICSE each ask for their own preparation. If your family has just moved to the city, say which board your child left and which one they have joined.
  • How to find the door. Many homes here are independent houses on numbered cross roads, and some are flats on a side street. A cross number, a circle and a map pin save a lost first visit.

If the fit is wrong, say so and we line up another tutor from the shortlist; switching tutor later in the year is free too.

Belagavi in five zones

Belagavi shortlists come from the tutor profiles we hold, and 18 Belagavi localities each have their own page. Tutors on those pages always appear in the same order: people living in the locality first, next anyone already willing to travel to it, after them the wider zone, then all of Belagavi, and finally online tutors. For home visits we group the city into five zones, starting in the west and moving round through the south and east to the north-east: Camp and Hanuman Nagar, Tilakwadi and South Belagavi, Shahapur, Vadgaon and Khasbag, Sadashiv Nagar and Nehru Nagar and Mahantesh Nagar and Ramteerth Nagar. The groups are our own, drawn up for tutor travel; they do not follow corporation wards or any official boundary.

Camp and Hanuman Nagar: the old cantonment and the western colonies

Camp is the old cantonment on the western side of central Belagavi. It was set up in 1832 and is still run by its own cantonment board, and armed forces installations remain in the city, so Camp mixes long-settled homes with families who arrive mid-year on a transfer and have to fit a child into a new school quickly. Hanuman Nagar lies further out, a residential area along Hanuman Nagar Road with Vijaynagar, Gokul Nagar and Vinayak Nagar close by. Sahyadri Nagar is a quieter colony around Sahyadri Nagar Road, with Bauxite Road running nearby.

Children arriving from another state often need two things at once here: a quick catch-up on the chapters the new school has already finished, and support with Kannada if it is new to them as a school language. Homes in the western colonies are more spread out, and fewer tutors live inside each one, so a blend of home visits and online lessons works well. For a first visit in Camp, name the road and the nearest circle and mention any gate or security post on the way; in Hanuman Nagar, the cross number off Hanuman Nagar Road is usually enough; in Sahyadri Nagar, say which turning you take and share a map pin.

Tilakwadi and South Belagavi: the southern belt around the circles

Tilakwadi is the largest locality of the south, built around Goaves Circle, Gogte Circle on Congress Road and Maratha Colony, with Deshmukh Road and Dwarka Nagar close by. Hindwadi sits to its east, along Hindwadi Road, which runs through Adarsh Nagar towards Shahapur. Bhagya Nagar and Angol, also spelt Anagol, lie further south at the edge of the city; Angol keeps a village name that is older than most of the streets around it.

Families here study under every board found in Belagavi, sometimes on the same lane, and many senior students are working towards Class 12 or II PUC and an entrance test at the same time. Younger children in Hindwadi and Angol often want help reading and writing in a second language. The four localities sit close together, so a tutor from anywhere in the belt can usually reach all of them. Give the circle you live nearest to and the cross number in Tilakwadi, say how far along Hindwadi Road you are, and in Bhagya Nagar or Angol mention whether your home is in an older lane or a newer street.

Shahapur, Vadgaon and Khasbag: older streets in the south-east

Shahapur began as a separate village and is now a suburb of the city, centred on Nath Pai Circle and the start of Khanapur Road. Vadgaon, sometimes written Wadgaon, lies beyond it, and Khasbag runs along the Pune Bengaluru Road on the Shahapur side. Shastri Nagar, on the central side of this zone, is the locality around Station Road and Belagavi railway station, the city's main station on the South Western Railway.

The older streets of Shahapur and Vadgaon are close-knit and can confuse someone visiting for the first time, so directions matter more here than distance. Plenty of children in this zone switch between a home language and the language of their exam papers, and senior students here take science, commerce and arts streams, so ask for a tutor who teaches your child's stream rather than a general one. In Shahapur, give the lane, the nearest circle and a shop locals know; in Khasbag, name the shop at your turning off the main road and say which side you live on; in Shastri Nagar, share the building name, floor and entrance.

Sadashiv Nagar and Nehru Nagar: the residential north

Sadashiv Nagar is a settled residential area through which Club Road runs. Subhash Nagar lies along the Belgaum-Panaji Highway, with Veerbhadra Nagar and Shivaji Nagar among its neighbours. Nehru Nagar sits beside Shivabasava Nagar and Azam Nagar.

Class 12 and II PUC help is a frequent request, including practical records and preparation for the viva, and many science students here plan for NEET or another entrance test alongside the board year. Where both parents work, an after-school homework hour for a younger child is a common arrangement, and it helps to tell the tutor who will open the door. In Sadashiv Nagar, name the cross road off Club Road; in Subhash Nagar, give the street you turn into from the highway and a shop at that corner.

Mahantesh Nagar and Ramteerth Nagar: the north-eastern layouts

Mahantesh Nagar is a large residential suburb in the north-east, with Shree Nagar and Anjaneya Nagar beside it. Ramteerth Nagar, also written Ramtirth Nagar, is made up of newer layouts. Kanbargi lies at the outer edge and keeps its old village name, with Kanbargi pond and Auto Nagar nearby, while Gandhi Nagar sits to the south of the zone towards Khasbag, near the Bagalkote Belagavi Road.

Families who have moved to Belagavi from elsewhere settle here as well as in the older parts of town, so a change of board or Kannada as a new school language comes up often. Towards Kanbargi fewer tutors live close by, so a fixed weekly timetable with online lessons as the back-up keeps things steady. Streets in the newer layouts can look alike, so give the layout or cross name and a second landmark. In Gandhi Nagar, add "east Belagavi, near Mahantesh Nagar" so a tutor does not head for a place of the same name somewhere else.

State syllabus, CBSE, CISCE or international: what does each ask of a tutor?

Children in Belagavi study under four broad systems, and schools of each kind are found across the city. We check which papers your child will actually sit before suggesting anyone, because a tutor who knows one board's question style well can need a term to settle into another.

BoardExams and styleA question for the tutor
KSEAB, the Karnataka state board SSLC after Class 10; II PUC after the second pre-university year; papers answered in the student's own medium. Which state textbooks have you taught for this class, and can you explain a hard step in Kannada as well as English?
CBSE NCERT books as the base, with questions that ask the student to use an idea in an unfamiliar setting. How often will my child write complete board-style answers with you, and who will mark them?
CISCE, with ICSE after Class 10 and ISC after Class 12 Many subjects examined in long written papers, prescribed English literature and project work during the year. How will you plan the year so that projects and revision do not collide in the final term?
IB Diploma and Cambridge IGCSE IB: coursework as well as final exams. IGCSE: practice on past papers, checked against the mark scheme. How will you give feedback on coursework while making sure every word stays my child's own?

The state board's history goes back to 1966, when it opened under the name Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board; since 2022 it has been KSEAB. Its headquarters is in Bengaluru, and Belagavi is one of its four divisional offices, alongside Bengaluru, Kalaburagi and Mysuru. The board's own site describes a main SSLC sitting in March and April and another in June for those who did not clear it the first time. Patterns and timetables change, so read every notice on kseab.karnataka.gov.in rather than a copy forwarded on a phone. Our pages for Karnataka board tutors in Belagavi, CBSE home tutors in Belagavi and ICSE home tutors in Belagavi go into each system in more detail, while IB and IGCSE learners mostly find their specialist through online lessons.

What a tutor does at each stage, from Class 1 to II PUC

Classes 1 to 7: reading, numbers and the second language

Young children do well with short, regular visits: reading aloud, mental arithmetic, tidy notebooks and homework finished on the day it is set. In Belagavi, many homes speak one language while the school teaches in another, and a third is studied as a subject. A few minutes of reading in the weakest language at every visit helps more than one long weekly push. One patient tutor can usually look after every subject at this stage.

Classes 8 to 10: the run-up to SSLC or the Class 10 board

Maths and science get harder quickly in these years, and gaps left from earlier classes start to show in test marks. A good tutor finds those gaps early, so the board year begins without a pile of unfinished chapters. For SSLC, the state textbooks and the board's published papers come first; CBSE families can add our plan for Class 10 Maths and Class 10 Science revision notes.

The pre-university years, or Classes 11 and 12: specialists where they count

The first pre-university year, or Class 11, brings a big step up, and much of the entrance syllabus is packed into it. Students who fall behind in Physics or Maths that year usually carry the gap into the next, so a separate specialist for each worrying subject is often money well spent. Our Class 12 Physics strategies suit the board year whichever system your child follows.

Which subjects do Belagavi families ask for most?

Maths and the sciences lead from Class 8 upwards, yet tutors on our list cover far more: English, Kannada, Hindi, Marathi, Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, Computer Science and Social Science, while younger children often have one tutor for everything. The six core subjects each have a Belagavi page: maths, physics, chemistry, biology, science and English.

What marks out a strong subject tutor is much the same on any board. In Maths, they look for the line where a solution first went wrong, even if the real cause sits two chapters back. In Physics, they get the student to say what is happening in a problem before any formula goes on paper. In Chemistry, they never let one strand, numericals, reactions or facts, run far ahead of the others, as our guide to Class 12 Organic and Inorganic Chemistry explains. In English, particularly for a child coming from Kannada-medium or Marathi-medium books, they build vocabulary through the language the child already knows before asking for long English answers; our spoken English guide adds practice for home.

Coaching classes, tuition classes or a home tutor in Belagavi?

When parents in Belgaum search for help, they most often type "coaching classes" or "tuition classes", and both are a fair place to start. They are different from a home tutor, though, and it helps to be clear about what each one does well before you pay for any of them.

A coaching class or a tuition class teaches a group at one pace, to a fixed syllabus and timetable. That suits a student who keeps up comfortably, likes working alongside others and mainly needs regular practice and tests. The trade-off is attention: in a room of many students, a child who lost the thread three chapters ago may not say so, and the class moves on regardless. Travel time to and from a centre also comes out of the evening.

A home tutor, at your house or online, teaches one child. The pace follows your child, the lesson starts from the exact question they got wrong in school this week, and the tutor can switch to Kannada, Marathi or English when an explanation is not landing. It suits students who are behind, students who are ahead and want to stretch, and children who are quiet in a group. NXTutors arranges one-to-one tutoring only; we do not run batches, centres or group classes.

Many families use both. If your child already attends a group class, ask a tutor for a narrow, specific job: clearing the week's doubts, marking board-style written answers, or keeping school chapters on track while the class races ahead. Bring the class timetable to the free demo so the tutor's slot fits around it, and look at how the tutor's hour would differ from what the class already covers. On fees, the same rule applies as everywhere on NXTutors: each tutor sets their own, and you see it before the demo. Our Gurugram article on whether to pick coaching or a home tutor for JEE makes an argument that carries over to Belagavi.

How does a home tutor fit around the Karnataka CET, JEE or NEET?

In the final two years, a science student in Belagavi often carries the II PUC or Class 12 course and at least one entrance test at the same time, whether that is NEET UG, JEE Main or the Karnataka CET. One-to-one help is most useful when the job is clearly defined, and families usually choose one of these:

  1. Board papers kept safe. Derivations, diagrams and long answers that the PUC or Class 12 examiner expects; timed multiple-choice drills rarely build them.
  2. A fixed doubt slot. Once a week the student brings everything unsolved from school, college or a group class, and no new topic begins until the list is empty.
  3. One subject under the lens. A steady run of entrance-style problems in whichever subject feels weakest, with each step checked.
  4. A single revision plan. The board syllabus and the entrance syllabus rest on the same core ideas, so one plan can prepare for both.

For facts about the exams, go only to the people who run them. The Karnataka Examinations Authority runs the Karnataka CET and publishes, each year, who may apply, what is examined and when, at kea.kar.nic.in. JEE Main, which NTA holds in two sessions each year, and NEET UG, which it holds once a year, are announced on nta.ac.in through each year's information bulletin. Read more on our pages for JEE tutors in Belagavi and NEET tutors in Belagavi, our topic plan for JEE Maths, and the NEET Biology guide that starts from NCERT.

Home visits or online lessons: which suits a Belagavi family?

Either can work; the choice depends on your child and the time of day. Home visits suit children below about Class 6, students who lose focus on a screen, and subjects where seeing every line of working matters. Going online opens the search to tutors across India, which helps with IB, IGCSE, rarer ISC electives or olympiad-style problem solving. Some local points:

  • Tutors come by road. Most tutors in Belagavi travel by scooter, motorbike or auto, so for visits more than twice a week, a tutor from your own zone is worth more than a slightly stronger one from across the city.
  • The far edges of the city. Kanbargi in the north-east and Angol in the south sit a fair way from the other side of town, and families there often combine a tutor close by with a specialist on video.
  • Busy main roads at certain hours. Roads near the circles, the station and the highways are slower around school and office hours, so a slot that starts a little after the evening rush is easier to keep.
  • The rainy months. Agree at the start that a day of heavy rain switches to a screen instead of being cancelled.

A pattern many families settle on is two or three home visits a week with a short online check-in before a test, all with the same tutor. See online tutors for Belagavi and our article home tutor or online tutor?

Tuition fees in Belagavi: what to expect

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

Fees are each tutor's own decision, not ours, and you can see every shortlisted tutor's fee before the demo. Numbers on their own say little, so ask every tutor on the list the same four things:

  • The length of a lesson, and the number per week you would advise for this class.
  • Whether entrance preparation costs more than school or board work.
  • Whether coming to my part of Belagavi changes your fee or the days you can offer.
  • What happens if either of us has to miss a lesson.

Put the money first where the struggle is biggest; a single good tutor in that subject tends to help more than the same sum split several ways. Nobody above your stated budget is put on the list. The pricing guide breaks fees down by class and subject, and our post on home tuition fees in Belagavi looks at the city itself.

What to watch for in the free demo lesson

One real lesson tells you more than any profile. Stay within earshot, or ask your child afterwards:

  • Did the tutor ask about school hours, tests and any other classes before starting to teach?
  • Did they test your child's starting point with a few quick questions rather than opening the book at chapter one?
  • Did your child follow comfortably in the language you asked for, whether Kannada, Marathi, English or a mix?
  • Could the tutor say clearly how their hour will differ from school and from any group class?
  • Asked about this year's SSLC, PUC or board paper, did they answer precisely or in general terms?
  • Did your child spend the hour mostly writing and solving, or mostly listening?
  • Is the slot one the tutor can keep every week, given where they live?

Then the practical details. For a flat, give the building name, floor and any gate instructions; for a house, send the cross number and house number, and drop a map pin with a landmark. Lessons belong in a common room with an adult in the house. For more, see the parents' checklist for demo classes and our guide to choosing a board and stream.

Which month should tuition start?

There is no wrong month, though the tutor's focus shifts with the calendar:

  • Before and at the start of the school year. Time to repair last year's weak spots before fresh chapters begin; a short summer plan fits well.
  • The rainy months. Keep a steady weekly rhythm, with online lessons agreed as the substitute on wet days.
  • Festival weeks. Lessons thin out for a while, so add one on either side.
  • Winter. The syllabus should close, giving way to full-length papers and the school's preparatory tests; dates come only from official notices.
  • Spring. SSLC, PUC and other board papers, then the entrance tests, each on the dates its own authority announces.

State-board families should follow KSEAB's notices and their school's calendar, which need not match the CBSE or CISCE year. An early start gives the most room; a late one is still worth it, though lessons then lean on old question papers and exam technique.

Getting started in Belagavi

It takes three steps. Send us the class, board and subjects, your locality and a landmark, the language your child is most at ease in, and the hours that stay open once school ends. Next, compare the two or three tutors we suggest, with their fees, and pick one for the free demo. Last, make up your mind after that lesson. Your own locality's page is in the list on this page too, or you can look through tutor profiles or go directly to a free demo class. Where nobody suitable lives close by yet, an online tutor can begin at once.

For a closer look at each part of the city, our Belagavi home tuition guide walks through all five zones, from Camp and Sahyadri Nagar in the west to Mahantesh Nagar and Kanbargi in the north-east.

Other Karnataka cities on NXTutors are Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Hubballi-Dharwad and Kalaburagi, and every city we cover appears on the cities page.

Home tuition in Belagavi: common questions

How much does a home tutor cost in Belagavi?

Tutors set their own fees, by class, subject and experience. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. You see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Are coaching classes in Belagavi better than a home tutor?

Neither is better for every child; they do different jobs. A coaching class teaches a group at one pace, which suits a student who keeps up and wants regular tests. A home tutor teaches one child at home or online, starting from what they got wrong this week. NXTutors arranges one-to-one tutors only, and many families add a tutor alongside a class.

Does NXTutors run tuition classes in Belagavi?

No. NXTutors is a home tutor service, not a tuition class or centre. Families in Belagavi and Belgaum who want one-to-one help instead of a batch can ask us: we send two or three matched tutors with their fees, the first class is a free demo at home or online, and switching tutor later is free.

Which areas of Belagavi do your tutors cover?

Tutors currently cover 18 areas of Belagavi, including Angol, Bhagya Nagar, Camp, Gandhi Nagar, Hanuman Nagar. Each area page lists the tutors nearest to it.

Which boards and exams do tutors in Belagavi teach?

CBSE, ICSE and ISC, IB and IGCSE for Classes 6 to 12, plus JEE and NEET preparation, at home or online.

Is the first class free?

Yes. The first session is a free demo class, so you can judge the tutor's teaching style before deciding. If the fit is not right, we suggest another tutor.
