Senior biology asks for two opposite skills. The II PUC, CBSE and ISC papers pay for long answers in the right order and diagrams with every label in place. NEET and the Karnataka CET pay for a single exact fact, picked quickly from four choices. In Belagavi (Belgaum) there is often a third strand: a student who learned science in Kannada or Marathi now has to write it in English. A tutor who keeps all three in view stops marks slipping away on either side. Tell NXTutors the board, the class, any entrance plan and your locality; we suggest two or three biology tutors with fees shown up front, and the first class with the one you choose is a free demo.
| Paper | Set by | Outline | Habit to build |
|---|---|---|---|
| II PUC biology | KSEAB | 70 theory marks in four parts across thirteen chapters | Answers in sequence with tidy, labelled figures |
| CBSE biology | CBSE | 70 theory marks in each year and 30 for practical work | NCERT detail, case-based questions, a record kept current |
| ISC biology | CISCE | In Class 12, a 70-mark theory paper with 30 more from practical work, the project and the file | Full diagrams and precise terms |
| NEET (UG) | NTA | In 2026, 90 of the 180 questions were biology, and wrong answers lost marks | NCERT recalled line by line, under time |
| Karnataka CET | Karnataka Examinations Authority | In 2026, 60 biology questions of one mark each, with no deduction | Speed across both PU years |
| IGCSE or IB Diploma | Cambridge (0610) or Pearson Edexcel (4BI1); the IB | IGCSE in Grades 9 and 10; IB Biology at SL or HL | Reading data, and the IB investigation the student carries out alone |
Until Class 10, biology sits inside school science; see our science home tutor in Belagavi page for those years.
The board's II PUC biology blueprint places 70 theory marks over thirteen chapters in four parts. Part A has twenty compulsory one-mark items that reward the exact term. In Part B the student picks five of seven two-mark questions; Part C works the same way with three-mark questions, which often pair a sketch with a few lines of explanation. The long answers sit in Part D: five of ten questions, each worth five, describing a process stage by stage with a labelled figure.
Because Part D alone carries 25 marks, a good habit is to close most lessons with one full long answer that your child writes and then checks against the board's model answers. Every PU textbook is printed in a Kannada and an English edition, and the biology book was revised in 2023, so make sure the tutor works from the new one. The current blueprint is on the board's PU examination portal, and the state route as a whole is set out on our Karnataka board tutor in Belagavi page.
In Karnataka the test that counts depends on the course. Under the Karnataka Examinations Authority's 2026 bulletin, medical, dental and AYUSH seats went by NEET scores, although candidates still registered with the Authority. Veterinary science (B.V.Sc & AH) ranked students on CET physics, chemistry and biology; farm science used all four CET subjects together with the qualifying exam; and B.Sc Nursing used the three sciences. The CET biology paper itself had 60 one-mark questions with no penalty for errors.
So a tutor has two answer-sheet rules to teach. In the CET, answer everything; in NEET, a wrong answer takes a mark away, so a doubtful option deserves a moment's thought. The rules can shift from one year's bulletin to the next. For more, read the KCET guide or visit NEET home tutor in Belagavi.
| Year | Units and marks, in syllabus order |
|---|---|
| Class 11 | Diversity in the living world 15; structural organisation in plants and animals 10; the cell 15; plant physiology 12; human physiology 18 |
| Class 12 | Reproduction 16; genetics and evolution 20; biology in human welfare 12; biotechnology 12; ecology 10 |
Genetics is the biggest Class 12 unit, so from the moment it starts, set a handful of inheritance problems every week. Human physiology and the cell, the two largest Class 11 blocks after diversity, should be revised before Class 11 closes, since NEET draws on them as heavily as the Class 12 board. Each year's 30 practical marks are built from experiments, spotting specimens, the record book and a project with a viva, so entries belong in the record every week, never all at the end. ISC divides Class 12 as 70 for theory, 15 for practical work, 10 for the project and 5 for the practical file.
NEET (UG) 2026 had 180 compulsory multiple-choice questions for 720 marks. Biology, split into botany and zoology, supplied 90 of them, with 45 apiece for physics and chemistry. Every right answer earned four marks and every wrong one cost one, and the biology score was the first used to separate tied candidates. The syllabus is notified by the National Medical Commission, and NTA publishes the pattern on neet.nta.nic.in. For a tutor, that means the NCERT text read sentence by sentence, captions and tables included; timed objective sets every week; and a log of each mistake from each mock. See our NCERT-first NEET biology guide or the national NEET home tutor page.
Senior biology adds hundreds of technical words, and a student who learned science in Kannada or Marathi until Class 10 meets many of them again in English. Four routines keep it under control:
Calendars differ between PU colleges and schools, so read this as a loose sketch for a student facing a board paper plus NEET or the CET in one year.
The two exams share most of their content, so dropping either one is a mistake. If an entrance course already takes several evenings, the home tutor's value lies in the gaps it leaves: correcting written board answers and reviewing every mock one question at a time. To weigh the choices, read our article on NEET preparation with coaching, a home tutor or both.
A precise address and a regular hour keep senior biology lessons on track. Our Belagavi page lists every locality.
What a promising demo looks like:
Still unsure? Another shortlisted tutor can give a demo, and a later change is free; the demo class checklist for parents lists more questions. Online lessons work for older students, who can sketch on a tablet and go through mocks on a shared screen. In person, a tutor holds a wandering student's attention and checks the record and practical file by hand. Specialists in ISC, IB or NEET biology may live on the far side of Belagavi, so a weekly mix of one visit and one online lesson is common.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each biology tutor in Belagavi sets a personal fee, visible on the shortlist ahead of the demo; for questions to ask, read the Belagavi home tuition fees article.
Share the PU year or class, the board, whether NEET or the CET is planned, the hardest chapters, the language your child prefers, your locality with free hours, and a budget. You then receive two or three biology tutors, each with a fee. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (about the ID check). For the other sciences, see our Belagavi physics and chemistry pages; the national biology home tutor page goes deeper into IGCSE and IB. Belagavi parents should include the PU year or class, the board, any NEET or CET plan, the hardest chapters, the preferred language, the locality with free hours, and a budget. We reply with two or three biology tutors and their fees, the first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.
Belagavi II PUC students write a 70-mark biology theory paper over thirteen chapters. Part A has twenty compulsory one-mark items, Parts B and C each ask five answers from seven, and Part D asks five five-mark answers from ten. Part D alone carries 25 marks, mostly processes with labelled diagrams.
A Belagavi biology student needs NEET for medical, dental and AYUSH seats, along with registration with the Karnataka Examinations Authority, under the 2026 bulletin. Veterinary science ranked students on CET physics, chemistry and biology, and B.Sc Nursing also used the three sciences. Check each new bulletin before planning.
A Belagavi student should answer every CET biology question, because the 2026 paper of 60 one-mark questions had no penalty for errors. NEET is different: each wrong answer costs one mark, so a doubtful option deserves a pause. A tutor should teach both answer-sheet rules and practise them on timed sets.
For a student preparing in Belagavi, biology was 90 of the 180 NEET (UG) 2026 questions, split between botany and zoology, with physics and chemistry at 45 each. Correct answers earned four marks and wrong ones cost one, and biology scores were used first to break ties. NTA confirms the pattern yearly.
For Belagavi CBSE students, human physiology carries the most Class 11 biology marks at 18 of 70, and genetics and evolution the most in Class 12 at 20. Reproduction follows with 16. Each year also has 30 practical marks from experiments, spotting, the record and a project with viva.
A biology tutor can help a Belagavi student from Kannada or Marathi medium by teaching word roots early, building a personal glossary with sketches, and drawing key figures from memory. Explanations can use the home language when an idea is stuck, but written answers stay in English from the first week.
Yes, a NEET student in Camp, Belagavi, can usually keep the same biology tutor online after a family transfer. Some service families on the old cantonment side move every few years, so mention a possible move when you book. Online lessons can use a tablet for diagrams and a shared screen for mocks.
A Belagavi student taking the board exam and NEET in one year should start with reproduction and genetics. Write one long answer weekly and take a short quiz after each chapter. Revision months need timed board papers and fortnightly mocks. After the board exam, revise both years and take weekly mocks.
