What home tuition costs in Rajkot

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Example only, not a quote: one subject, one-hour classes, 4 weeks a month. Your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.
Classes a week Classes a month At ₹800 an hour At ₹2,500 an hour
2 8 ₹6,400 a month ₹20,000 a month
3 12 ₹9,600 a month ₹30,000 a month

Why one-to-one home tuition costs more than group coaching

In a coaching batch, one teacher's hour is shared by many students, so each family pays for a part of it. At home the whole hour is your child's: the pace, the questions and the homework check follow one student, and the tutor's travel to your home is part of the working day. A small group of two or three children from the same society usually costs less per child, with less individual attention.

Home tuition in Rajkot: a family guide from Raiya and Kalawad Road to Kuvadva Road

Rajkot was founded in 1612 and served as the capital of Saurashtra State from 1948 until 1956; today it is a working city of foundries, workshops, markets and fast-growing housing. The Aji river splits it into an eastern and a western half. On the western side, apartment buildings keep spreading along Kalawad Road, University Road and the 150 Feet Ring Road, where the BRTS buses run. The older centre around Race Course and Sadar sits between the two halves, Mavdi and Gondal Road fill the south, and Kuvadva Road heads east past Bhagwatipara and Satellite Chowk. For a family looking for a tutor, the questions are practical ones: which side of the river you live on, which board and medium your child studies in, and which hour of the day is genuinely free.

What happens after a Rajkot parent sends a request?

You fill in one short form and we take it from there. It asks for the standard and board, the subject that is worrying you, your locality with a circle, chowk or market close by, the hours your child is free after school and any coaching, and whether you want the tutor to come to the house, teach on video, or do some of each. From that we put forward two or three suitable tutors. Their fees are shown to you before any visit, the opening lesson with the one you pick costs nothing because it is a free demo, and should you want a change later in the year, switching tutor is also free.

Four Rajkot details decide who appears on that shortlist:

  • East or west of the Aji. The river divides the city, and a tutor who lives on your side keeps coming through the year far more easily than one who has to cross at rush hour. Name your side in the request.
  • Board and medium as one choice. A Gujarati-medium GSEB student in Standard 10 and an English-medium CBSE student in the same class learn the same science in different words; we match the board, the class and the language of the paper together.
  • Flat, house or shop-front building. A newer apartment complex has a gate and a visitor register, a house in a side street has a doorbell, and a flat above a market often has a shared staircase and no parking. Say which one you live in.
  • The real free hour. Main roads such as Kalawad Road, Gondal Road and the ring-road circles slow down in the evening, so a slot fixed early in the term, before or after the rush, is the one that survives.

Treat the trial as a normal working session on this week's school chapter rather than a showpiece. If it does not click, say so, and the next person on your list is lined up.

Rajkot in five tutoring zones

For Rajkot we choose from the tutor profiles on NXTutors, and 19 Rajkot localities come with a page to themselves. On it, anyone teaching from inside that locality is shown ahead of the rest; next come people from the surrounding zone, then the wider city, and online teachers close the list. The municipal corporation runs Rajkot in Central, East and West zones; to keep travel short we split it more finely, into West Rajkot, North-West Rajkot, Central Rajkot, South Rajkot and East Rajkot. These are our own groupings, not wards.

West Rajkot (Kalawad Road & University Road): flats along the ring road

Kalawad Road is one of the city's main roads and lends its name to a long belt of apartment buildings, independent houses and shops, with new projects still going up towards the western end. University Road runs through the north-west of the city, lined with flats, shops and clinics, with pockets such as Yogi Nagar, Hari Nagar and Tulsi Park behind it. Nana Mava sits where Nana Mava Road meets the 150 Feet Ring Road and is mostly apartment buildings and builder floors around Laxmi Nagar, Karan Park and Satyam Park. Next door, Mota Mava is the old village on Kalawad Road that has filled with apartment projects, many of them recent or still being built.

This side of Rajkot has the city's bus rapid transit. The BRTS began running on 1 October 2012, and its Blue Corridor follows the 150 Feet Ring Road through the west with 19 stations, among them Raiya Road Circle, Nanamava Circle and Mavdi Circle. A tutor without a car can often ride to the nearest circle and finish by auto-rickshaw. Most homes here are flats, so expect a gate, a watchman and a visitor entry; in Mota Mava, where some approach roads are new, send a map pin before the first visit.

North-West Rajkot (Raiya & Jamnagar Road): from the old airport to Madhapar Chowk

Raiya lies in the north-west near Yogi Nagar and Munjka, mostly apartment buildings, with the city's Smart City area being developed around a lake on its side, adding roads, parks and plots. Raiya Road links the centre with Raiya and the ring road, and behind its shops sit flats, some villas and pockets such as Chandan Park and Tirupati Nagar. Gandhigram is a residential area beside the old Rajkot airport, which stopped handling scheduled flights on 10 September 2023 when they moved to the new international airport at Hirasar; the old field is still used for general aviation. Madhapar sits on the Rajkot–Jamnagar highway, where Madhapar Chowk marks the northern end of the BRTS Blue Corridor, and is mainly apartment buildings with shops and banks along the road.

Raiya is served by the Raiya Telephone Exchange BRTS station, and Raiya Road has its own circle stop, so this zone and the west share one bus line. The highway at Madhapar carries trucks and buses all day and the chowk is often congested, so plan arrival around the evening peak. Complexes set back from the highway are quieter. In the newer blocks on the Smart City side, a shared location saves a tutor from circling on the first evening.

Central Rajkot (Race Course & Sadar): the old heart of the city

Race Course is the neighbourhood around the large public ground of that name, circled by what locals call the Race Course Ring Road; homes range from older bungalows to apartment buildings, and the commercial centre is close by. Jagnath Plot is a residential pocket a short walk from the city centre's shops and offices, mostly apartment buildings, with some new projects replacing older ones. Sadar has become both a place to live and a place to shop, with older buildings and newer flats among banks, restaurants and offices.

Rajkot Junction, the main railway station, opened in 1890 and sits on the Viramgam–Okha and Rajkot–Somnath lines. Because these localities are in the middle, tutors from almost any direction can reach them, and auto-rickshaws are easy to find. The catch is evening crowding on the market roads: a bungalow allows parking at the gate, but in Sadar or Jagnath Plot a two-wheeler or an auto drop works better, and directions through the inner lanes beat the main road.

South Rajkot (Mavdi & Gondal Road): houses, new towers and the second station

Bhaktinagar is one of the older parts of the city, mainly independent houses with some flats, and is home to Bhaktinagar railway station, the city's second, on the Rajkot–Somnath line with trains from Somnath, Veraval, Junagadh and Porbandar. Mavdi is a large residential area of two- and three-bedroom houses and apartment buildings along Mavdi Main Road. Gondal Road leads south towards Gondal through a mix of flats, markets and workshops; the city's foundry and engineering cluster includes units in this area. Vavdi, between Gondal Road and Kothariya, is growing fast with apartment projects at every stage, and Kothariya lies along the Rajkot–Gondal highway (NH-27) with ready houses and newer flats.

The Blue Corridor ends at Gondal Chowk, with Mavdi Circle and the Gondal Road and Ring Road crossing among its stops, so a tutor from Madhapar or Nana Mava can come down by bus. Houses in Bhaktinagar and Kothariya allow a doorstep arrival, though older lanes favour a two-wheeler. In Vavdi and the newer Kothariya blocks, addresses may not show up well on maps, so share a pin. Heavy vehicles use Gondal Road, so the last stretch is easier through side roads.

East Rajkot (Kuvadva Road side): across the Aji river

Kuvadva Road runs east out of the city as a national highway, with a long market stretch and homes on either side, mostly smaller flats and apartment buildings, with a few newer projects. Bhagwatipara is a residential area on the eastern side, not far from Rajkot Junction, and Satellite Chowk is a busy junction where shops, offices and homes sit together, with Kuvadva Road leading away from it.

The BRTS Blue Corridor runs on the western ring road, so tutors here mostly ride two-wheelers or take autos, which run on the main roads. The station side and the old city are close, which helps tutors coming from there. A tutor living west of the Aji has a longer trip, so families on this side often do better with a tutor from the east or with a weekend slot. Around Satellite Chowk the shopping hours are the slowest; arriving through residential lanes, rather than across the junction, keeps the lesson on time. Flats above shops may have a shared stair and no parking.

GSEB, CBSE, CISCE or IB: which board is your child on?

Rajkot children write Gujarat board papers or CBSE papers, some sit CISCE's ICSE and ISC, and others take IB or Cambridge IGCSE. The same chapter of Physics is examined in a different way by each of them, which is why we look for a tutor who already knows your child's board as well as the subject.

GSEB, Gujarat's own board

Its full title is the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Gandhinagar (GSHSEB), though families just say GSEB. At Standard 10 it holds the SSC exam; at Standard 12 the HSC exam, offered in two streams, General and Science. In 2026 the main papers ran through February and March, and supplementary (purak) exams came afterwards. On its website the board also puts up a question bank, subject by subject, for Standards 9 to 12, which gives a tutor ready material for weekly practice. A Gujarati-medium student needs a tutor who uses the Gujarati terms of the textbook. For exam patterns, timetables and results, rely on gseb.org alone; the Gujarat board tutors in Rajkot page has more.

CBSE

Every CBSE paper is built on the NCERT textbook, yet more and more of its marks reward using a concept in a setting the chapter did not show. That makes the board's own sample papers, checked against its marking scheme, the most useful thing a tutor can bring. Details on the CBSE home tutors in Rajkot page.

ICSE and ISC

CISCE examines Class 10 as ICSE and Class 12 as ISC. Both expect full, carefully worded written answers over a broad syllabus, and English includes prescribed literature. The usual problem is time: there is a lot to revise. A tutor should map revision across the term and keep practical files on schedule. See the ICSE home tutors in Rajkot page.

IB and Cambridge IGCSE

For these two, the closest suitable teacher is often online rather than across town. In the IB Diploma, internal coursework counts alongside exams; a tutor can coach the planning of an IA or Extended Essay, never the writing of it. IGCSE marks go to students who have practised old papers against Cambridge's published schemes.

Which standard needs what kind of help?

Primary and middle school (Standards 1–8)

Small children need confident reading, number sense and the habit of finishing written work neatly. Where Gujarati is spoken at home and English at school, reading a page aloud together in every session helps more than an extra sheet of sums. In a Gujarati-medium school, the same tutor can grow English vocabulary alongside the main lessons.

The SSC years (Standards 9 and 10)

Algebra, geometry and science chapters thicken in Standard 9, and the board year arrives right after it. A tutor's task here is pacing: stay level with the school, then start timed past papers in good time. For CBSE students, our Class 10 Maths plan and Class 10 Science notes track the NCERT books.

The HSC years (Standards 11 and 12)

Standard 11 is a sharp climb whichever board you are on, and the Science stream carries the heaviest load. Gaps left in Standard 11 Maths or Physics tend to follow the student into the final year, so a separate specialist for each tough subject is money well spent. For the last year, read our Class 12 Physics strategies and calculus and algebra guide.

What subjects do Rajkot families ask tutors for?

Families often start with Maths and Science, then add Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the senior standards and English for students of every board. Other tutors on NXTutors take Gujarati, Hindi, Sanskrit, Social Science, Computer Science, Accountancy, Statistics and Economics, and plenty handle every subject for a primary child. For Rajkot there are dedicated pages for maths, science, physics, chemistry, biology and English home tutors.

What separates a good subject tutor from an average one? In Maths, going back to the exact point where the confusion began, even two standards earlier. In Physics, building the concept before handing over the formula. In Chemistry, juggling three skills together, calculation, reaction logic and careful memory, which our Class 12 Organic and Inorganic Chemistry guide unpacks. And for a teenager switching from Gujarati-medium to English-medium books, a tutor who says each new term both ways until the English version becomes natural; pair that with our spoken English guide for practice between lessons.

JEE, NEET and GUJCET: where does a home tutor fit?

A Science-stream student in Rajkot may face three kinds of exam in one year: the Standard 12 board papers, a national test such as JEE Main or NEET UG, and GUJCET, which GSEB conducts, issuing registration and hall tickets through gseb.org. A home tutor earns a place beside school and coaching only with a sharply defined role:

  • Mop-up sessions. Each week, take the latest coaching worksheet or mock test and close every question that was only half understood.
  • A shared revision map. Standard 12 textbook chapters underpin both the board paper and a large part of the entrance syllabus, so one schedule can cover both.
  • Weakest subject first. Pour the extra hours into the subject that loses the most marks instead of dividing them evenly.
  • A protected slot. Fix an early-morning, late-evening or weekend lesson around the coaching timetable and do not let it drift.

JEE Main is run by NTA in two sessions during the first half of the year; candidates who clear it can go on to JEE Advanced. NEET UG is held once each year, with Biology worth half the total, so NCERT Biology needs reading line by line. GUJCET's eligibility, syllabus and dates belong to gseb.org. Topic plans worth passing to your tutor: JEE Maths, JEE Physics, JEE Chemistry and NEET Biology, NCERT first. Rajkot pages: JEE home tutors and NEET home tutors.

Tutor at the door or tutor on screen?

In-person lessons work well for young learners, for students whose attention wanders on a laptop, and for subjects where you need to watch the pen, like geometry or a long Physics derivation. Video lessons widen the search to teachers anywhere in India, which helps most with IB, IGCSE, uncommon ISC subjects and advanced entrance problems. Rajkot's own geography tips the balance:

  • The BRTS ring. The Blue Corridor runs from Madhapar Chowk to Gondal Chowk along the 150 Feet Ring Road, so a tutor near one of its stations can reach Raiya, Nana Mava or Mavdi without a vehicle.
  • Autos and two-wheelers elsewhere. The centre and the east are reached by auto-rickshaw or two-wheeler, and narrow lanes in older parts favour the scooter over the car.
  • The river. Crossing the Aji at peak hour adds to every trip, which is one reason families in the east often keep a home tutor for weekdays and an online one for a specialist subject.
  • Heat, rain and festival weeks. On the hottest afternoons, the wettest monsoon days and in busy festival weeks, an online lesson planned in advance keeps the week on track.

Plenty of families mix the two: the tutor visits on fixed weekdays and adds a brief video session just before a test. The trade-offs are weighed in our home versus online tutor comparison, and teachers who work over video are listed on the online tutors for Rajkot page.

How are tutor fees set in Rajkot?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

Every tutor fixes their own rate, so two tutors in the same subject can quote differently. When you compare the fees on your shortlist, ask each tutor:

  • Which standard and stream is this rate for? Help for a primary child is usually priced below HSC Science or ISC teaching.
  • Is it school support or entrance work? Problem-solving at JEE or NEET level is normally charged above board-level revision.
  • Does travel change it? Someone crossing the Aji may build the trip into the rate; a neighbour from your own zone may not.
  • How long is each session? Two longer sittings a week can achieve more than four rushed ones.

Spend where the struggle is. One capable tutor for the hardest subject tends to move marks further than thin help spread over four. Tell us roughly what you can afford, then compare each quote on your list before the demo. The pricing guide lays out fees by class and subject, and home tuition fees in Rajkot covers the questions worth asking here.

How can you judge a tutor in one trial lesson?

A profile only explains why someone is on your list. The free trial lesson shows whether they belong in your week. Notice:

  1. Did they ask first? A careful tutor wants to know the school timetable, coaching days and the next test before suggesting a plan.
  2. Did they diagnose? A few quick questions to see where your child stands beat starting chapter one from scratch.
  3. Was the language right? Your child should follow comfortably in the medium of their exam, whether Gujarati, English or a mix.
  4. Do they know the paper? They should explain how your board frames questions this year and send you to the official site for the rest.
  5. Who did the work? By the end of the hour your child should have solved something, not just listened.
  6. Can they keep the time? Check that the slot suits them every week, given where they travel from.

If you live in a gated complex, give the security desk the tutor's name in advance; for an independent house, share the street, a nearby landmark and a location pin. Keep the lesson in a common room, and we ask a parent to be at home for the demo. For more, see our trial-class checklist for parents and how to choose a board and stream.

A Rajkot study year, season by season

The CBSE year begins in April. GSEB and CISCE schools set their own calendars, so check yours. For a student facing a board or entrance exam, the months group roughly like this:

MonthsWhat to aim for
April–JuneFresh textbooks; use the summer holidays to repair last year's weak chapters, with lessons early or late in the day, away from the hottest hours.
July–SeptemberA settled weekly rhythm during the rains, with a video lesson agreed in advance for days when travel is hard.
October–NovemberNavratri evenings and the Diwali holidays break the routine; lighten those weeks and add sessions before and after.
December–FebruaryComplete the syllabus, then preliminary exams and full papers; Uttarayan falls in mid-January, and exam dates come only from gseb.org or your board.
March–MayBoard papers end; later JEE sessions and NEET UG follow, and GUJCET notices appear on the board's website.

Rely on official notices for every date. Beginning in April allows a whole year of steady work; joining later in the year is still worthwhile, with the focus shifting to past papers and answer-writing.
