Tutoring in Rajkot: what to know
Rajkot is split into five zones on NXTutors, and the travel habits in each differ. West Rajkot runs along Kalawad Road and University Road out to Nana Mava and Mota Mava, mostly flats in apartment buildings with houses in the side streets. North-West Rajkot covers Raiya, Raiya Road, Gandhigram and Madhapar on the Jamnagar Road side. Central Rajkot is Race Course, Jagnath Plot and Sadar, close to shops and offices. South Rajkot, with Bhaktinagar, Mavdi, Gondal Road, Vavdi and Kothariya, mixes older independent houses with new apartment projects, and East Rajkot, across the Aji river, takes in Kuvadva Road, Bhagwatipara and Satellite Chowk.
For a tutor, the 150 Feet Ring Road is the spine of the western half of the city. The BRTS Blue Corridor follows it from Madhapar Chowk on Jamnagar Road to Gondal Chowk on Gondal Road, stopping at Raiya Road Circle, Nanamava Circle, Mavdi Circle and more, so if you do not drive you can still reach much of the west and south by bus and a short auto ride. East of the Aji, plan on a two-wheeler or auto, with Rajkot Junction close to Bhagwatipara. Evening peaks on Kalawad Road, the Jamnagar highway at Madhapar and Gondal Road decide how many homes you can reach in one evening, so choose your localities with that in mind.
Rajkot parents ask about several boards. Standard 10 ends with the SSC examination of GSEB, Gujarat's state board, and Standard 12 with its HSC examination in General and Science streams; CBSE and CISCE schools are present as well, and some students follow the IB or IGCSE. Before each demo, confirm the board, standard, stream and the medium the student reads in. Online teaching widens your circle beyond the river and the ring road: you might keep home lessons around Mavdi and Vavdi while a student off Kuvadva Road learns with you on screen, or teach a GSEB student in another Gujarat city from home.
How you get tuition work on NXTutors
Six steps from applying to your first class. Swipe to see each step.
-
1
Sign up with a one-time code
Join from any Rajkot locality, Madhapar or Kothariya alike: a one-time code to your phone or email confirms the account, and you then list subjects, classes, boards and your teaching medium.
-
2
Upload your ID; our team reviews it
Next comes the ID check that applies to every tutor who joins: upload a government photo ID for our team to review. The Verified badge is shown only once that review is done, and it is not a police check.
-
3
Your profile carries the Verified badge
Your Rajkot profile shows the localities you will travel to, perhaps Kalawad Road and University Road, the hours you keep open and the fee you choose, with the badge added after the review.

4
A family nearby sends a request
Say a family in Bhaktinagar asks for a tutor. NXTutors puts forward two or three names, starting with tutors nearby, then those who already travel there, then South Rajkot, the city and online.
-
5
Free demo; the family sees your fee first
The parent reads your fee before booking anything and meets you at a free first class. We ask a parent to be at home for the demo, which lets both sides judge the fit.

Teach at home, online or both
After that, teach in homes on your side of Rajkot, online for students across Gujarat or India, or both, for example weekday lessons on screen plus a Saturday visit near Race Course.
Boards you can teach in Rajkot
Rajkot tutors teach GSEB, officially the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Gandhinagar (GSHSEB), which holds SSC exams for Standard 10 and HSC exams for Standard 12, the latter in General and Science streams, and is responsible for GUJCET too. Its website offers a subject-wise question bank for Standards 9 to 12. Families also mention CBSE, CISCE's ICSE and ISC, the IB and Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel IGCSE. Take patterns and notices only from official sources: gseb.org for the state board, then cisce.org, cbseacademic.nic.in, ibo.org and cambridgeinternational.org.
GSHSE
SSC (Standard 10); HSC General and Science streams (Standard 12)
GSEB is Gujarat's state board, based in Gandhinagar. It holds the SSC and HSC exams, is responsible for GUJCET too, and its site offers a subject-wise question bank covering Standards 9 to 12. Before a Rajkot demo, find out whether a Standard 12 student is in the Science or General stream and which medium the school uses, then follow every notice on gseb.org.
A CBSE student in Rajkot might live in a Raiya flat or a Bhaktinagar house. Build lessons on the NCERT textbook, practise with the official sample question papers and marking schemes posted on cbseacademic.nic.in, and when a household has children on two different boards, plan each child's revision from that school's own notices rather than one shared calendar.
CISCE
ICSE (Class 10); ISC (Class 12)
ICSE papers at Class 10 and ISC papers at Class 12 expect long written answers across many subjects, English literature included. In Rajkot, a tutor who knows these papers can teach locally and take ISC electives online for students elsewhere. Spread the syllabus across the year, mark timed answers carefully, and take specimen papers and regulations from cisce.org.
IB
Diploma Programme (Classes 11–12)
An IB Diploma student in Rajkot may well learn with an online specialist rather than a local tutor. Ask for the subject and level first. You may coach the skills an Internal Assessment or Extended Essay needs, but the work must stay the student's own; base lessons on the subject guides published at ibo.org.
IGCSE students need tutors who know the papers: command words, the Core or Extended tier, and past papers marked strictly to the official scheme. Check with the family which exam board, Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel, the school uses. A tutor in Mavdi teaching a Madhapar student can skip the long ring-road ride by holding the IGCSE lesson online.
