What home tuition costs in Rajkot

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

CBSE home tutors in Rajkot: NCERT done properly, from Class 6 to the Class 12 board

CBSE in Rajkot sits beside a strong state board. Many families compare it with GSEB at some point, some students move between the two, and in the senior classes a CBSE student is often juggling the board course with JEE, NEET or GUJCET preparation. A home tutor is worth the fee when they keep the NCERT foundation solid, teach the way CBSE marks, and stop board work from being squeezed out by entrance work. This page covers what CBSE expects at each stage, the 2026-27 changes in Classes 9 and 10, the senior-class subject structure, how a Rajkot week can be arranged, which tutors reach which side of the city, and how to judge a tutor at the free demo. The Class 10 maths guidance reflects Abhinandan Tiwary's role teaching Class 10 CBSE and ICSE maths, and the science guidance reflects Aaditya Kashyap's role teaching CBSE and ICSE science.

CBSE and the Gujarat board side by side

Rajkot students write Gujarat board papers or CBSE papers, and smaller groups follow CISCE, IB or Cambridge IGCSE; our Rajkot tutors page lists them all. We do not publish shares for each board. What matters for tuition is how the two big ones differ.

A tutor who has taught mostly GSEB students will know the content, but may not yet drill CBSE's competency-style questions or mark to its step-by-step scheme. Ask at the demo which board's papers they have taught most recently.

Three phases of CBSE schooling, and the tutor's job in each

Classes 6 to 8: the school marks everything

No board paper yet, so this is the easiest time to fix weak spots. Fractions, integers, ratio and the habit of reading a science paragraph twice are what later years lean on. A tutor here should be patient rather than fast, and should insist that every sum shows its working.

Classes 9 and 10: the two-year build

Class 9 is examined by the school, with an 80-mark paper and 20 marks of internal work; Class 10 is CBSE's own board exam on the same 80 plus 20 split, and every subject needs 33% to pass. Case passages and data questions begin to matter, so marking practice against the official scheme becomes the core of each session.

Classes 11 and 12: depth plus a deadline

The school examines Class 11, often just as coaching starts, and the jump in physics, chemistry and maths catches many students out. Class 12 ends in the board exam, theory plus practical or internal marks, while entrance tests compete for the same months. One combined revision plan is the aim.

When a Class 9 student suddenly struggles, the cause is rarely Class 9 itself. Gaps from early algebra and fractions resurface, and a few weeks of honest repair work usually does more than pushing ahead of the school timetable.

What is new in Classes 9 and 10 for 2026-27

  • A common paper with an optional extra. All Class 9 students write the same 80-mark maths and science papers. Anyone may add an Advanced paper in maths, in science, in both or in neither; it carries 25 marks, lasts one hour and contains only higher-order questions on additional content. It does not count in the aggregate, though a result of 50% or above appears on the marksheet. Suggest it only where your child is already at ease in that subject.
  • Basic and Standard maths on the way out. The split continues only for the 2026-27 Class 10 batch, which completes the older scheme.
  • Two chances at the Class 10 board. Every student sits the first exam. A student who passes may take the second to raise marks in as many as three of science, maths, social science and the languages. Plan for the first sitting as if there were no second.
  • Competency questions. Roughly half of each secondary paper is built on passages, data, cases and everyday situations.
  • A third language. It is compulsory in the transition years and assessed in school, with no board paper.

For a workable order of topics, see our Class 10 maths preparation guide and Class 10 science notes.

Marks in the senior years

Three patterns run through Classes 11 and 12 in the 2026-27 senior secondary curriculum. The lab sciences, Physics (042), Chemistry (043) and Biology (044), give 70 marks to the written paper and 30 to practical work, so the lab record and viva deserve real time. Mathematics (041) and Applied Mathematics (241) are alternatives, and a student takes only one; each gives 80 marks to theory and 20 to internal assessment. The commerce trio of Accountancy (055), Economics (030) and Business Studies (054) follows the same 80 and 20 split.

The Class 12 paper is set on the full Class 12 syllabus. CBSE releases each year's design alongside its sample paper, so ask any tutor which year's sample they are using. Board-year reading: our physics strategies for Class 12, the Class 12 chemistry guide and the Class 12 maths guide.

Keeping the board safe beside JEE, NEET or GUJCET work

A Rajkot science student in Class 12 may face three different exams in one year: the CBSE board, a national test such as JEE Main or NEET UG, and GUJCET, which GSEB conducts, with registration and hall tickets issued through gseb.org. Careful NCERT work feeds all three, but the board paper alone asks for full written answers, and those habits fade after months of objective practice. A CBSE tutor alongside coaching should:

  • keep a running list of NCERT chapters the batch rushed and return to them for board-style questions;
  • ask for one complete written answer each session, marked for steps, units and diagrams;
  • watch the practical file, project and internal work, which entrance coaching ignores.

For entrance help, see JEE home tutors in Rajkot and NEET home tutors in Rajkot.

Moving between GSEB and CBSE, or changing medium

Some Rajkot students join CBSE after studying in a GSEB school, and some change from Gujarati-medium to English-medium material along the way. The maths and science carry over; the language of the answer and the format of the paper do not. For the first few weeks after a switch, a tutor should work almost entirely from the NCERT textbook, building a short glossary of terms in both languages, and should set small written answers that copy the wording CBSE examiners expect. A student who understands a concept in Gujarati but writes the paper in English can be taught in either language, as long as the written practice always ends in clear English. Families weighing the choice of board or stream can read our guide on choosing a board and stream, and Gujarat board tutors in Rajkot describes the state board.

A workable CBSE week

For Class 9 or 10, two moderate sessions a week usually achieve more than one long weekend sitting. Use the first to repair whatever went wrong in the week's school tests: start from the NCERT explanation, then move to exemplar and competency questions on the same idea. Use the second for writing: board-style answers produced in full and marked line by line for steps, units, labelled diagrams and neat layout. Ask the tutor for a one-page note each month listing chapters covered, test marks and the errors that keep returning. In Class 11 and 12, add a short online check on coaching days so doubts are cleared before they pile up.

Home or online for CBSE in Rajkot?

Choose home visits for a primary or middle-school child, for a teenager who loses focus on a laptop, and for subjects marked line by line, such as geometry proofs, physics numericals, balanced equations and ledger formats. Choose online for a quick check on a coaching evening, for a senior subject whose ideal tutor lives on the far bank of the Aji river, and for Navratri nights, Diwali week, Uttarayan or a day of heavy rain. Many Rajkot families keep one tutor and simply switch format when the week demands it. The set-up is explained on our online tutors for Rajkot page, and our home or online tutor article compares the two.

How tutors reach your side of Rajkot

  • Central Rajkot: in Jagnath Plot, give directions through the inner lanes, which are calmer than the commercial roads; in Sadar, a two-wheeler or an auto drop is easier than looking for parking on the market streets.
  • South Rajkot: along Gondal Road, heavy vehicles use the highway, so the tutor should turn into the residential side roads early; in Vavdi, send a map pin because new buildings are hard to find.
  • East Rajkot: off Kuvadva Road, approach from the side roads and avoid the evening peak; near Satellite Chowk, arrive through the residential lanes, as flats above shops often have shared staircases and little parking.

The Aji river splits the city east and west, so we look first for tutors on your side of it. The Rajkot home tuition guide has timing advice for every zone.

Testing a CBSE tutor in the free demo

  1. Ask to see the sample paper they teach from. It should be the current year's, taken from the CBSE academic site.
  2. Hand them a case-based question. A good tutor first shows your child how to read the passage, then works the answer.
  3. If they also teach GSEB students, ask how the same answer would be laid out for each board.
  4. Ask how sessions will move around coaching days and school test weeks.
  5. Ask what written record you will receive each month.

Fees and getting started

CBSE Home Tutor in Rajkot (Classes 6–12): common questions

For a Rajkot family weighing boards, how does CBSE tutoring differ from GSEB tutoring?

CBSE tutoring in Rajkot builds on NCERT books, official sample papers and marking schemes, while GSEB tutoring follows the state textbook and its question bank. GSEB holds the SSC at Standard 10 and the HSC at Standard 12 in General and Science streams. Ask at the demo which board's papers the tutor has taught most recently.

What is new for CBSE Class 9 and Class 10 students in Rajkot this 2026-27 session?

For CBSE Class 9 and 10 students in Rajkot, 2026-27 brings common 80-mark maths and science papers in Class 9 and an optional 25-mark Advanced paper outside the aggregate. The Basic and Standard maths split ends after the 2026-27 Class 10 batch. Class 10 has two board exams: the first is compulsory, the second can raise marks in up to three subjects.

Out of 100, how much of a Rajkot student's CBSE Class 12 mark comes from lab or internal work?

For CBSE Class 12 students in Rajkot, physics, chemistry and biology give 70 marks to theory and 30 to practical work under the 2026-27 curriculum. Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, only one of the two, gives 80 to theory and 20 to internal assessment, as do accountancy, economics and business studies. Check cbseacademic.nic.in for the current year.

Can a Rajkot CBSE tutor keep board marks safe while my child prepares for JEE, NEET or GUJCET?

A CBSE tutor in Rajkot protects board marks beside JEE, NEET or GUJCET preparation by returning to NCERT chapters the batch rushed and setting one fully written answer each session. They also watch the practical file, project and internal work that coaching ignores. For entrance-level problem solving, a separate JEE or NEET tutor usually works better.

What should a tutor do when a Rajkot student switches from a GSEB school to CBSE?

When a Rajkot student moves from a GSEB school to CBSE, the content mostly carries over but the paper format and often the language change. For the first weeks the tutor should work closely from NCERT, build a two-language glossary if the student studied in Gujarati, and set short written answers in the wording CBSE examiners expect.

How many CBSE tuition sessions a week suit a Rajkot Class 9 or 10 student?

Two moderate CBSE sessions a week usually achieve more for a Rajkot Class 9 or 10 student than one long weekend sitting. Use the first to repair the week's school-test errors from NCERT, then exemplar and competency questions. Use the second for full board-style answers marked for steps, units and diagrams, with a monthly one-page note to parents.

Navratri nights, Uttarayan or a tutor across the Aji: when should a Rajkot CBSE student switch to screen lessons?

Online CBSE tuition suits Rajkot families for a quick coaching-evening check, a senior subject whose ideal tutor lives across the Aji river, and Navratri, Diwali week, Uttarayan or heavy-rain days. Home visits suit younger children, teenagers who drift on a laptop, and work marked line by line. Many families keep one tutor and switch format as needed.

Which sides of Rajkot do CBSE home tutors travel to?

CBSE home tutors teach across Rajkot, including Jagnath Plot and Sadar in the centre, Gondal Road and Vavdi in the south, and Kuvadva Road and Satellite Chowk in the east. The Aji river divides east from west, so we look first for tutors on your side, and online sessions fill gaps for specialist subjects.

What does an hour with a visiting CBSE tutor cost a Rajkot family?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. In Rajkot the class, number of subjects, how often the tutor comes and the route all affect the fee, and you see each one before the free demo.

From request to free demo, how does finding a CBSE tutor in Rajkot work?

To find a CBSE tutor in Rajkot, share the class, subjects, locality and landmark, preferred language and free evenings. We send two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class, and the first class is a free demo. Ask which year's sample paper they use; switching tutor later is free, and tutors who join go through an ID check.
