Rajkot Home Tuition Guide: West, North-West, Central, South and East Rajkot

By NXTutors Academic Team 8 min read

Rajkot makes sense once you hold three lines in your head. The Aji river splits the city into east and west. The 150 Feet Ring Road curves along the western side, carrying the BRTS Blue Corridor from Madhapar Chowk on the Jamnagar highway down to Gondal Chowk on Gondal Road. And the railway runs through Rajkot Junction, the main station, with Bhaktinagar station on the Rajkot–Somnath line to the south. Below, zone by zone: the homes, the way to the door and the habits that keep a weekly class running.

The five zones at a glance

Most home tutors in Rajkot ride a two-wheeler; others use the BRTS on the ring road and finish by auto-rickshaw.

West Rajkot: Kalawad Road and University Road

Apartment buildings keep spreading towards the ring road here, along the Blue Corridor, so a tutor without a car can ride to the nearest circle and take an auto onwards.

Kalawad Road is one of Rajkot's main roads, lined with flats, houses and shops. Ambika Park and Jagnath Plot are nearby. The road itself is busy in the evening, so give the tutor your pocket and route them through the inner lanes.

University Road runs through the north-west of the city with apartment buildings, shops and clinics, and pockets such as Yogi Nagar, Indian Park and Tulsi Park on either side. Most homes are flats with a watchman and limited parking; start before the evening rush.

Nana Mava sits where Nana Mava Road meets the ring road, and the Nanamava Circle BRTS stop takes its name. Homes are mostly apartments and builder floors, in pockets like Amrut Park, Chandra Park and Satyam Park. Share the tutor's name with the gate before the first lesson.

Mota Mava is the old village on Kalawad Road that has filled with apartment projects. Some approach roads are new, so send a map pin before the demo and say where a visitor can park.

North-West Rajkot: Raiya and the Jamnagar Road side

This edge of the city runs from Raiya past the old airport to the Rajkot–Jamnagar highway. Scheduled flights moved to the new airport at Hirasar on 10 September 2023, and the old field now handles general aviation only.

Raiya is largely apartment buildings, near Yogi Nagar, Munjka and Raiya Road, with the Raiya Telephone Exchange stop on the Blue Corridor. Share a location for newer blocks.

Raiya Road links the centre with Raiya and the ring road, where the Raiya Road Circle stop sits. Flats, some villas and plenty of shops line it, with pockets such as Chandan Park, Indian Park and Radhika Park. A slot just after school hours usually beats a late one near the circle.

Gandhigram is settled housing beside the old airport, with Radhika Park and Maruti Nagar among its pockets. It lies between Raiya Road and the older centre.

Madhapar sits on the Jamnagar highway at the northern end of the ring road, where Madhapar Chowk starts the Blue Corridor. Homes are mostly apartment buildings. Name the lane off the highway so the tutor avoids crossing the junction at its busiest.

Central Rajkot: Race Course and Sadar

Rajkot was founded in 1612 and served as the capital of Saurashtra State from 1948 to 1956. Rajkot Junction, opened in 1890, is the main station. Autos are easy to find here.

Race Course surrounds the large public ground of that name, with older bungalows and apartment buildings along the road that rings it. Bungalows usually leave room at the gate.

Jagnath Plot is a residential pocket of flats close to the city's shops and offices, bordered by Sadar, Manhar Plot and Race Course. Parking is narrow, so a two-wheeler is the easiest way in, and the inner lanes are calmer than the commercial roads.

Sadar mixes older buildings and newer apartments with banks, restaurants and offices. Market streets fill in the evening, so an auto drop or a weekend morning slot can be simpler than a late weekday class.

South Rajkot: Mavdi and Gondal Road

The southern spread runs from the ring road at Mavdi across to the Rajkot–Gondal highway. The Blue Corridor ends at Gondal Chowk, and Bhaktinagar station, the city's second, handles trains from Somnath, Veraval, Junagadh and Porbandar.

Bhaktinagar is one of the older parts of the city, mainly independent houses with some flats. A tutor can usually park outside and come straight to the door, though narrow lanes favour a two-wheeler.

Mavdi is a large area of two- and three-bedroom houses and apartment buildings along Mavdi Main Road, with the Mavdi Circle BRTS stop on the ring road. Houses mean a doorstep arrival; complexes mean gate entry. Slightly later or weekend slots dodge the closing-time rush at the circle.

Gondal Road leads south towards Gondal through apartment buildings, markets and workshops, including part of the city's foundry and engineering cluster. The highway carries heavy vehicles, so the tutor should turn into the residential side roads early.

Vavdi lies between Gondal Road and Kothariya and is filling with new apartment projects, near Kangsiyali, Punit Nagar and Swati Park. New buildings often do not show well on maps, so send a pin and the nearest main road.

Kothariya runs along the Rajkot–Gondal highway with ready houses and newer blocks, and an industrial area on one side. Houses allow easy doorstep visits.

East Rajkot: the Kuvadva Road side

East of the Aji the BRTS does not run, so tutors arrive by two-wheeler or auto along the main roads. A tutor from the same side of the river keeps trips short.

Kuvadva Road leaves the city as a national highway with a long market stretch, and mostly smaller flats and apartment buildings behind it, near Navagam and Satellite Chowk. Approach homes from the side roads rather than the highway.

Bhagwatipara is a residential area not far from Rajkot Junction, surrounded by Railnagar, Junction Plot and Ranchhod Nagar. Inner lanes are narrow and parking is short at busy times, so a two-wheeler suits it.

Satellite Chowk is a market junction where shops, offices and homes stand side by side. Flats above shops often share a staircase; tell the tutor which door to use and where a scooter can wait.

Boards, medium and the school year

Rajkot families choose between GSEB, CBSE, ICSE and, less often, IB or IGCSE. GSEB, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, conducts the SSC exam at Standard 10 and the HSC exam at Standard 12 in General and Science streams, and also conducts GUJCET; check its notices on gseb.org. For GSEB students, mention the medium in your request, so the shortlist leans towards tutors who teach in Gujarati, English or both. More: Gujarat Board tutors in Rajkot, CBSE and ICSE.

Home visits or online?

A tutor from your zone suits weekly visits. When a specialist is needed, for example senior chemistry east of the Aji or IB mathematics in the centre, an online tutor for Rajkot students can work alongside a home tutor. For costs, read home tuition fees in Rajkot.

How NXTutors can help

Send one request with the standard, board, subjects and your locality. We reply with two or three matched tutors: those nearest you first, then others in your zone and across Rajkot, and online tutors from anywhere in India when the subject calls for it. Subject pages: maths home tutors in Rajkot, science, physics, chemistry, biology, English, JEE and NEET. Start from the Rajkot city page or book a free demo class. Tutors living in the city can see open requests at Rajkot tuition jobs; joining is free for tutors, and tutor plans are optional.

Frequently asked questions

Can a tutor reach West Rajkot by BRTS?

Often, yes. The Blue Corridor runs along the 150 Feet Ring Road with stops such as Nanamava Circle, Mavdi Circle and Raiya Road Circle. A tutor can ride to the nearest circle and take an auto-rickshaw into the lanes. Naming that circle in your request helps the shortlist favour tutors on the same stretch.

We live east of the Aji. Will tutors come to us?

Yes, though it helps to say so in the request. The shortlist then starts with tutors living or teaching on the eastern side, near the station or the old city, which keeps evening trips short. If the nearby list is thin for a subject, an online tutor can cover it alongside home lessons.

What should we tell a tutor before the first visit to a new building?

Send a map pin and the name of the nearest main road, because newer blocks in Mota Mava, Vavdi or Kothariya may not show correctly on maps. Tell the gate the tutor's name and timing, and say where a two-wheeler or car can be parked during the lesson.

Which areas of Rajkot are mostly independent houses?

Bhaktinagar is mainly independent houses, and Mavdi and Kothariya have many houses alongside apartment buildings. Race Course has older bungalows. In these homes a tutor can usually park outside and come straight to the door, whereas flats in the western belt follow a visitor entry at the gate.

How does NXTutors pick tutors for my locality?

We look first at tutors who live near you, then at others in your zone, then across Rajkot, and finally at online tutors from anywhere in India for specialist subjects. You get two or three matched tutors, each with the fee shown, and the first class with each is free.
