Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

In one Rajkot apartment building you can find a Standard 10 child preparing for the GSEB SSC in Gujarati medium, a CBSE Class 12 student juggling calculus with JEE practice, and a younger cousin on ICSE or IGCSE. Each of them is graded by a different examiner who rewards different habits, so the maths teacher who is right for one may be wrong for the next. Distance inside the city matters too: a tutor who lives near Kalawad Road can usually keep an evening slot in Nana Mava, but the same slot in Madhapar may be harder. Tell NXTutors the course and your locality, and we put forward two or three maths tutors who fit both. You see every fee in advance, and the first class is a free demo.
Two authors share this page. Ajay Vatsyayan is responsible for the advice on IB, IGCSE and ISC maths, and Abhinandan Tiwary for the parts on Class 10 CBSE and ICSE maths. The starting point for both is the same: name the body that marks the final exam, because that fixes the book, the layout of the working and the type of practice that pays.
| Course | Examiner | Final assessment in brief | Opening question |
|---|---|---|---|
| SSC (Standard 10) and HSC (Standard 12) | Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) | Designed by the board; read the current design on gseb.org | Will you teach from the state textbook in my child's medium? |
| CBSE Class 10, Standard or Basic | CBSE | Board paper of 80 plus 20 marks given by the school | Which level fits my child's plans after Class 10? |
| CBSE Class 12 | CBSE | 38 compulsory questions worth 80, with 20 internal | When in the year will calculus be finished? |
| ICSE (Class 10), ISC (Class 12) | CISCE | Written paper of 80, plus 20 from internal or project work | Do you follow the syllabus for our exam year? |
| IB Diploma; Cambridge IGCSE | IB; Cambridge | IB papers plus an exploration; IGCSE at Core or Extended tier | Which course or tier have you taught most recently? |
The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, based in Gandhinagar, holds the SSC once Standard 10 is over and the HSC once Standard 12 is over; for HSC students, maths is part of the Science stream. The board decides its own syllabus and question-paper design and can change them, so this page does not lay out a GSEB maths paper. The board's site, gseb.org, is where to confirm the current scheme before a plan is fixed.
You can still judge a tutor's fit on four practical points:
Our Gujarat Board tutor page for Rajkot covers SSC and HSC preparation across all subjects.
In the 2026-27 curriculum, CBSE spreads the board's 80 marks over seven units built from 14 NCERT chapters, and the paper keeps the design of the previous session. Sorted by weight, the units give a tutor a ready order of priorities:
| Unit | Board marks | Habit to build |
|---|---|---|
| Algebra (polynomials, linear pairs, quadratics, AP) | 20 | Writing the equation from the story in the question, then checking that it makes sense |
| Geometry (triangles, circles) | 15 | Giving a reason beside every statement in a proof |
| Trigonometry, with heights and distances | 12 | Drawing and labelling the figure before picking a ratio |
| Statistics and probability | 11 | Checking the arithmetic in grouped frequency tables |
| Mensuration | 10 | Carrying units through combined-solid questions |
| Real numbers; coordinate geometry | 6 each | Collecting short-answer marks with care instead of hurrying past them |
Section A of the paper holds 20 one-mark questions (18 multiple-choice, 2 assertion–reason). Section B has five two-mark questions, C has six worth three, D has four worth five, and E closes with three four-mark case studies. No calculator may be brought in, and 22/7 stands for π wherever a question gives no other value. Both levels share the chapter list; what differs is demand, since roughly 54 per cent of Standard marks reward recall and understanding, compared with around 75 per cent in Basic. If Class 11 maths is a real possibility, Standard is the safer choice, and the school will ask for the decision by its own date.
Since 2026 the main Class 10 exam has been compulsory for all, and a second, optional sitting lets a student try to lift the marks in a maximum of three subjects, with maths allowed among them. CBSE has not yet published 2027 dates, so keep an eye on cbse.gov.in. For chapter-level advice see the Class 10 maths preparation guide, for the calendar the board-year planner, and for how we match in that year the Class 10 maths tutor page.
Senior students in Rajkot often already have a coaching class, a school timetable and, for Gujarat board students, GUJCET to consider. A home tutor who simply repeats a lecture adds hours without adding marks. The tutor earns the fee by doing what a batch cannot: going through the problems your child could not finish, and protecting the written board answer.
| Target | What is known about the paper | Tutor's share of the week |
|---|---|---|
| CBSE Class 12 board | 38 compulsory questions for 80 marks; calculus alone carries 35 | Calculus from the first month, and one long answer written out in full every session |
| JEE Main (2026 Paper 1) | 75 questions for 300 marks; 25 in maths, of which 20 are multiple-choice and 5 numerical; +4 right, −1 wrong | The unsolved part of the coaching sheet; confirm the next pattern on jeemain.nta.nic.in |
| GSEB HSC Science and GUJCET | Both run by GSEB; the board publishes the current designs | The state textbook and the board's question bank, read against the board's own notices |
The Class 12 calculus and algebra guide and the topic-wise JEE maths guide go deeper, and the Class 12 maths tutor page explains how we shortlist for that year. If you are still weighing coaching against home tuition, read JEE coaching or a home tutor.
Rajkot has fewer teachers for these four courses than for CBSE or the state board, so put the course in the very first line of your request. If no specialist lives nearby, an online one can guide the course while practice continues at home.
Most tutors in Rajkot travel by two-wheeler or auto-rickshaw. On the western side the BRTS Blue Corridor runs along the 150 Feet Ring Road between Madhapar Chowk and Gondal Chowk, so a tutor without a vehicle can ride to the nearest circle and finish by auto. Every locality has its own page under our Rajkot home tuition section.
| Locality | Typical homes | Tutor's way in | Arrange early |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kalawad Road | Apartment buildings and independent houses, with newer projects towards the western end | Watchman and visitor parking for flats; doorstep for houses on the side streets | The inner lanes to use, since the main road is heavy in the evening |
| Nana Mava | Mostly flats and builder floors around the circle where Nana Mava Road meets the ring road | Nanamava Circle BRTS stop, then a walk or an auto | The tutor's name with the gate before the demo; a late-afternoon slot |
| Raiya | Largely apartment buildings, with newer blocks still filling in | Raiya Telephone Exchange BRTS stop, then an auto into the lanes | A shared map pin for a newer block that is hard to find |
| Madhapar | Apartment buildings, many with two-bedroom flats, set back from the Jamnagar highway | Madhapar Chowk, the northern end of the Blue Corridor | An arrival time either side of the evening jam at the chowk |
| Race Course | Older bungalows and apartment buildings around the public ground | Central and easy by auto from most directions | Whether there is room at the gate for a car or only a two-wheeler |
| Jagnath Plot | Flats of every size, with some new buildings replacing old ones | Through the calmer inner lanes rather than the commercial roads | A two-wheeler spot, as building parking can be narrow |
The West Rajkot and North-West Rajkot zone pages add more local timing advice.
Request that the demo covers whatever chapter is open in your child's school notebook this week, rather than a favourite topic of the tutor's. Then notice four things:
Not convinced? Let us know, and another tutor from your shortlist takes a demo; a change made months later is also free of charge. Our demo class checklist for parents lists more to look for.
Sitting beside the student, a tutor spots a wrong line while it is still being written; that is worth most to a younger child and to anyone learning to write proofs. Online works well for a specialist course, for a student whose coaching ends late, or for a tutor on the far side of the city. Many families settle on one visit and one online session each week. The home tutor or online tutor article weighs both sides.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Every tutor sets their own rate. What moves it is the class and course, the tutor's experience with that examiner, the trip to your locality at your hour and how many sessions you book each week. All shortlisted fees are visible before the demo, and the Rajkot home tuition fees article lists questions worth asking.
Five details let us start: your child's class; the course in full (SSC or HSC on the Gujarat board, plus the medium; CBSE at Standard or Basic level; ICSE; ISC; IB; IGCSE); the locality, with a landmark or the nearest BRTS stop; the free afternoons or evenings; and a budget. Back come two or three maths tutors, each fee listed, and the one you pick teaches the free demo. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID, as described on how we check tutors. Where nobody suitable can travel to your side of Rajkot at that time, we propose online lessons or a blend. Our office is in Sector 66, Gurugram, and online classes run India-wide. The national maths home tutor page describes matching in other cities, and the Rajkot home tuition guide walks through each zone of the city.

Yes. Mention the medium when you ask, and we look for tutors who explain and correct in Gujarati with the state textbook's own terms, and who practise from the question bank GSEB publishes for Standards 9 to 12. Paper designs can change, so confirm the current SSC or HSC scheme on gseb.org.
Matching covers the western belt along Kalawad Road and University Road, the Raiya and Jamnagar Road side, the central localities around Race Course and Sadar, the southern spread from Mavdi to Gondal Road, and the east beyond the Aji river. If no suitable tutor can reach you at your hour, online lessons fill the gap.
It can. The Blue Corridor runs along the 150 Feet Ring Road between Madhapar Chowk and Gondal Chowk, with stops such as Nanamava Circle and Raiya Road Circle. Naming your nearest stop in the request lets us consider tutors who travel by bus and finish the trip by auto-rickshaw.
Twenty of the 80 board marks, more than any other unit. Geometry carries 15, trigonometry 12, statistics with probability 11 and mensuration 10, while real numbers and coordinate geometry are worth 6 apiece. The 2026-27 paper keeps the previous design, so recent CBSE sample papers suit timed practice.
Only if the tutor takes a different role. Coaching moves through chapters quickly; a home tutor can clear the sheet problems your child could not finish and guard the Class 12 board paper, where calculus is worth 35 of 80 marks and full written steps are expected in every long answer.
For the 2027 and 2028 exams CISCE sets one 80-mark paper in seven units, and the Section B or C choice has gone, so every student studies vectors, 3-D geometry, linear programming and probability. Calculus is worth 35, and two projects add 20. Check that revision books follow the new layout.
Yes, and many families mix the two. A home visit suits younger children and proof-heavy chapters, while an online session helps when coaching finishes late or the right specialist lives across the city. The same tutor can do both, which keeps the plan and the homework in one place.
