Home Tuition Fees in Rajkot (2026): Reading a Quote Before You Agree

By NXTutors Academic Team 8 min read

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. In Rajkot, as everywhere we work, each tutor sets their own hourly rate and shows it on their profile.

So this guide does not predict a number for your child. It shows what a fee figure on a shortlist card can and cannot tell you, how the GSEB medium and your side of the Aji affect the arrangement, and which terms matter as much as the rate.

Reading a shortlist card: what the figure settles and what it leaves open

You receive two or three matched tutors, each with their fee visible before any demo is booked. A single figure answers less than it seems to:

On the cardWhat it settlesWhat you still need to ask
The hourly feeThe rate this tutor charges for one hour of teachingWhether a usual session is one hour or longer, and whether that changes the rate
Subjects and standards taughtWhether the tutor covers your child's level at allHow recently they taught that exact standard and board
Boards listedFamiliarity with GSEB, CBSE, ICSE or IBWhich medium they teach GSEB in: Gujarati, English or both
Home, online or bothWhether a visit to your locality is on offerWhich days the tutor can reach your side of Rajkot
Location shown on the profileRoughly where the tutor starts fromWhether the weekly slot you want fits around their other classes

Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID. See how we check tutors. The badge concerns identity, not teaching; the free demo is for that.

Five Rajkot situations and the fee question each one raises

Families rarely ask about cost in the abstract; the real question depends on the child's year, board and home. Some common patterns:

SituationPut this in the requestThe fee question that matters most
A Standard 7 child in Gujarati-medium GSEB, living in a house in BhaktinagarStandard, medium, the subjects that keep slippingCan one tutor take both maths and science, and is the rate the same for both?
A Standard 10 SSC student in a Mavdi flat, aiming to tidy written answersBoard, medium, the chapters that are weakestDoes the hour include checking written work, or is marking done separately?
A Standard 12 HSC Science student near Raiya who also wants GUJCET practiceStream, subjects, the entrance test alongside the boardHow will board chapters and entrance practice share the same paid hours?
A CBSE Class 11 student off Kalawad Road starting JEE preparationBoard, class, JEE Main or Advanced as the aimIs the rate different for school-level physics and for entrance problem sets?
Two siblings in a Kothariya house, in different standardsBoth standards, both boards, preferred daysWill one tutor teach both back to back, and how is that charged?

The NXTutors pricing guide explains how tutors set their figures.

GSEB in Gujarati or English medium: what to confirm before agreeing a rate

The state board here is the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Gandhinagar (GSHSEB), usually called GSEB. It conducts the SSC examination at Standard 10 and the HSC examination at Standard 12, with HSC in General and Science streams, and it also conducts GUJCET. It publishes a subject-wise question bank for Standards 9 to 12. For notices and dates, rely on gseb.org alone.

The board alone seldom decides a quote. What changes is the list of things to confirm:

  • GSEB: ask which medium the tutor teaches in, since it should match the medium your child writes in at school. Ask too whether they use the board's question bank. Our Gujarat Board tutors in Rajkot page goes further.
  • CBSE: confirm which classes the tutor has taught lately and how sample papers fit into the hours. See CBSE home tutors in Rajkot.
  • ICSE and ISC: the council's papers reward complete, well-set-out answers; ask how the tutor practises that. See ICSE home tutors in Rajkot.
  • IB and IGCSE: ask which papers or components the tutor has taught recently, since a local specialist may be hard to find. An online tutor for Rajkot students widens the field without changing how fees are shown.

East or west of the Aji: does your locality change the fee?

There is no Rajkot zone rate; each tutor sets their own figure. Your locality changes how many tutors can reach you on a weekday, and what helps the first visit. The Aji river divides the city into east and west, and the BRTS Blue Corridor runs along the 150 Feet Ring Road on the western side, from Madhapar Chowk to Gondal Chowk.

Whether a long ride affects a tutor's figure is their call; it is fair to ask. The Rajkot home tuition guide covers each locality's homes, gates and timing in more depth.

Terms that deserve as much attention as the rate

Two tutors with the same hourly figure can cost quite differently over a term. Settle these early, in a short message both sides keep:

TermWhy it mattersA simple way to settle it
Session lengthA longer session at the same rate is a different commitmentWrite the length next to the rate
Missed classesIllness, travel and exam weeks happen on both sidesAgree how much notice cancels a class without charge
Extra revision before testsHours tend to rise before unit tests and board examsAgree in advance how extra sessions are booked and charged
Long school holidaysThe slot may be lost if nobody discusses itDecide whether lessons pause or continue, and on what terms
Payment rhythmWeekly, monthly or per class changes what you trackPick one rhythm and note the date

Keeping the weekly hours tied to progress

The rate is fixed by the tutor; the hours are where a family has real say. A few habits keep them honest:

  1. Ask for the reason behind any suggested number of hours. A good answer refers to what the tutor saw in the demo, not a standard package.
  2. Set a review point, such as after the first unit test, when hours can go up, stay or come down by agreement.
  3. Change the tutor rather than adding hours if a fair review shows the plan is not working.

When an online tutor makes more sense

An online tutor earns its place when the subject needs someone who does not live near you: senior physics for a student in Kuvadva Road, IB mathematics near Race Course, or GUJCET practice alongside a local tutor for HSC chapters. Online tutors also set their own fees, shown the same way before the demo. Our comparison of a home tutor and an online tutor sets out the trade-offs.

What you see before paying anything

You see each matched tutor's fee on the shortlist first; the first class with each is a free demo; you choose one and agree the slot. If the arrangement stops working later in the year, switching tutor is also free. Take our demo class checklist along so the free session answers the questions that matter.

How NXTutors can help

Send one request with your child's standard, board, medium, subjects and locality. We come back with two or three matched tutors: those nearest to you first, then others in your zone and across Rajkot, and online tutors from anywhere in India when a specialist is needed. Subject pages for the city include maths home tutors in Rajkot, science, physics, chemistry, biology and English, with JEE tutors and NEET tutors for entrance students. The Rajkot city page links every locality page. When a profile suits you, book the free demo class. Teachers living in the city can see open requests at Rajkot tuition jobs; joining is free for tutors, and tutor plans are optional.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a home tutor charge in Rajkot?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each Rajkot tutor sets their own figure, and you see it on the shortlist before any demo.

Do Gujarati-medium GSEB tutors charge differently from English-medium ones?

Not as a rule. A tutor's rate depends mainly on the standard, the subject and how long they have taught at that level, and each tutor fixes it. What the medium changes is the fit: answers in the board exam follow your child's medium, so confirm the tutor teaches in it.

Is a tutor dearer on Kalawad Road than in Bhaktinagar?

No. There is no rate by locality, and the figure always comes from the individual tutor. Location affects how many tutors can reach you for a fixed weekday slot. If the nearby list is short, online tutors from elsewhere in India can join the shortlist with their fees shown upfront.

Can one tutor teach two children at home?

Often, if both standards and boards fall within what the tutor teaches. Mention both children in the request, with their standards and preferred days. Ask at the demo how back-to-back sessions are arranged and charged, and whether one subject for the younger child can sit beside senior work for the older.

Do we pay anything before choosing a tutor?

No. You receive two or three matched tutors with each fee visible, and the first class with every one of them is a free demo. After the demos you choose a tutor and agree a regular slot. Switching to another tutor later, if needed, also costs nothing.
