Not sure which tutor fits? Tell us the class, board and your sector: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.
| Classes a week | Classes a month | At ₹800 an hour | At ₹2,500 an hour |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 8 | ₹6,400 a month | ₹20,000 a month |
| 3 | 12 | ₹9,600 a month | ₹30,000 a month |
In a coaching batch, one teacher's hour is shared by many students, so each family pays for a part of it. At home the whole hour is your child's: the pace, the questions and the homework check follow one student, and the tutor's travel to your home is part of the working day. A small group of two or three children from the same society usually costs less per child, with less individual attention.

Solapur grew outward from a knot of old trading peths, and most families still describe their address by the road that leads out of that centre. Navi Peth, Raviwar Peth, Sakhar Peth and Bhavani Peth form the core, with Saat Rasta and Hutatma Chowk as the junctions everyone names. The railway station and the Solapur–Pune road run west through Railway Lines, Murarji Peth and out to Bale. Vijapur Road heads south through Jule and past Saiful Chowk, Hotgi Road leaves Sadar Bazar for the airport side, and Akkalkot Road carries the eastern colonies of Shastri Nagar, Sunil Nagar and Neelam Nagar, with Shelgi to the north-east. It is also a city of many home languages: Marathi, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Urdu are all spoken as first languages. So a good match here rests on three things: a tutor who lives along your road, who knows your child's board, and who can explain a hard step in words your child already owns.
One message starts it. Tell us your child's class and board, the medium the school teaches in, the subjects that feel heavy, and the languages your child is most at ease in. Add your colony or peth, the road it sits on and a chowk or shop a newcomer can spot, then the hours that are truly free once school, homework and any classes are done. Say whether you want the tutor at home, on a screen, or a mix, and roughly how much you plan to spend each month, so the list stays realistic. We come back with two or three matched tutors. You see every tutor's fee before the demo, the first class with the one you pick is a free demo, and if you change your mind later, switching tutor costs nothing. In Solapur, four details shape the shortlist more than any other:
Treat the demo as a working lesson on whatever your child is stuck on this week. If it does not click, tell us, and the next tutor on the list gets their turn.
Solapur suggestions are drawn from our pool of tutor profiles, and 20 Solapur localities have a page of their own. On each one the order of tutors never changes: those who live in the locality come first, then tutors who already travel there, then the rest of the zone, then Solapur as a whole, then online tutors from anywhere in India. For home visits we think of the city as five zones, following the roads out of the centre: Central Solapur Peths, Railway Lines and Pune Road, Vijapur Road and Jule Solapur, Hotgi Road and Sadar Bazar and Akkalkot Road and East Solapur. The municipal corporation has its own eight administrative zones; ours are drawn only for tutor travel and do not follow its boundaries or wards.
Navi Peth is one of the old trading peths at the very centre, where homes sit on narrow lanes behind shopfronts and Saat Rasta is the junction people use to give directions. Raviwar Peth and Sakhar Peth lie on the eastern side of the old city, where the lanes begin to lead towards Akkalkot Road, and many houses there hold large joint families. Bhavani Peth, also spelt Bhawani Peth, sits on the northern side of the core near Murarji Peth and Damani Nagar. Hutatma Chowk, the central square named after the city's martyrs and carrying their statues, is the other landmark almost everyone knows.
Because the four peths sit so close together, a tutor who lives in one can usually take a lesson in another the same evening, which gives parents here a wider choice than any single peth would. The difficulty is finding the door, not the distance. Send the lane, the shop or building beside your entrance, the floor and the chowk the tutor should turn at. If the house doubles as a shop or workshop, choose a back room or a terrace corner so customers do not break into the hour. One more habit helps: write Solapur clearly with Bhavani Peth, because several Maharashtra cities, Pune among them, have a locality of that name.
Solapur railway station is the headquarters of the Solapur division of the Central Railway, and the line from Mohol reached the city in 1860 as part of the route between Mumbai and Chennai. Railway Lines is the residential part of the centre on that side, close to Navi Peth and Sadar Bazar. Murarji Peth, between the railway side and the older peths, mixes shops and offices with flats and older houses. Damani Nagar, to the north beside Bhavani Peth, is a colony of mostly homes, and Bale lies out on the Solapur–Pune road at the western edge of the city, with a small railway halt of its own.
Some households near the station keep working hours that move with a roster, so it helps to ask for a tutor who can hold two fixed days and shift a third when needed. For a flat in Railway Lines or Murarji Peth, the building name, wing and flat number are enough. Damani Nagar's quieter streets make a calm after-school slot easier to keep. Bale is different: fewer tutors live that far west, so a home tutor for the main subject and an online class for the rest is a practical pairing, and a map pin with a landmark on the Pune road saves a lost first visit.
Vijapur Road, also written Bijapur Road, leaves the centre past the Kambar Talav lake and runs south through Jule towards Karnataka. Colonies line both sides of it, older ones near the city and newer ones further out. Jule Solapur, usually just called Jule, is one of the larger residential areas in the south, a mix of houses and apartment buildings with Soregaon and Majrewadi nearby. Rajaswa Nagar is a quiet colony off the road on the south-western side, and Saiful takes its name from Saiful Chowk, a junction on Vijapur Road that most people in the city recognise.
The road is long, so its name alone says very little. Give your colony, the nearest chowk and which side of the road you live on, and for a flat in Jule add the building, wing and flat number with a map pin. Many homes along this corridor have two or more children in school; one tutor taking back-to-back slots can work well, provided each child keeps a separate plan and a full hour. Where a student is thinking about Class 8 foundation work or NEET Biology after the SSC year, a tutor who lives on the same road makes the extra weekly sessions far easier to keep.
Sadar Bazar sits at the city end of Hotgi Road, close to Railway Lines and Budhwar Peth. From there Hotgi Road runs south-east past Solapur Airport, which many people still call the Hotgi airport, towards Hotgi village and its railway junction, where lines branch towards Kalaburagi and Vijayapura. Sainath Nagar is a residential colony on the road itself, and Majrewadi lies between Hotgi Road and Vijapur Road, with Jule and the airport area among its neighbours.
People use "Hotgi Road" the way they would use a locality name, so always add the colony or building. In homes where both parents work through the day, agree in the demo on a two-line message from the tutor after each class: what was covered, what homework was set, how the child coped. For a young child in Majrewadi's colonies, a patient homework partner matters more than speed. Sadar Bazar shares its name with neighbourhoods in several other Indian cities, so write Solapur and a nearby chowk with the address.
Akkalkot Road runs east from the centre through Shastri Nagar, a residential colony whose name turns up in many Indian cities, so Solapur and Akkalkot Road belong in the address. Sunil Nagar lies beyond it, beside the industrial area in east Solapur, and Neelam Nagar, also written Nilam Nagar, is a residential area close by. Shelgi is on the north-eastern side towards the Hyderabad road and grew from a village of the same name. Further out on Akkalkot Road, Kumbhari sits where National Highways 150E and 465 cross.
These are mostly homes, and children here may be on the State Board or CBSE. Classes 8 and 9 are where small gaps in algebra and science begin to grow, so a short diagnostic in the demo is worth asking for. Neelam Nagar and Shelgi sit away from the centre, and families there often keep a nearby tutor for daily school subjects and add an online specialist for one subject. In Shelgi, compare how often each suggested tutor can actually come; one longer weekend lesson can beat two rushed weekday visits.
Children in Solapur may follow the Maharashtra State Board, CBSE or the CISCE papers, and a smaller number study an international programme. We check the board before suggesting anyone, because a tutor who knows one exam's style well may still be new to another's.
| Board | What it involves | A fair question for the tutor |
|---|---|---|
| Maharashtra State Board (MSBSHSE) | The SSC examination at Class 10 and the HSC examination at Class 12, with Science, Commerce and Arts streams; the board publishes subject syllabus pages and runs its exams through divisional boards. | Have you taught the current state textbooks in my child's medium, and how do you use the board's past papers? |
| CBSE | NCERT textbooks at the centre, with sample papers and marking schemes published each year. | How will you train full written answers, step by step, as the marking scheme expects? |
| CISCE: ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) | Long written papers across many subjects, English with prescribed literature, and specimen papers from the Council. | How will you spread the syllabus through the year so nothing is crammed at the end? |
| IB Diploma and Cambridge IGCSE | Coursework and final papers for IB; past papers and mark schemes for IGCSE. | Can you guide the Internal Assessment or Extended Essay while the writing stays my child's own? |
For the State Board, timetables, patterns and notices are published on mahahsscboard.in; read them there rather than trusting a forwarded message, and check on the same site which divisional board office serves your child's school. CBSE material is on cbseacademic.nic.in and CISCE's on cisce.org. Our pages for Maharashtra Board tutors in Solapur, CBSE home tutors in Solapur and ICSE home tutors in Solapur go deeper into each, and IB or IGCSE families usually find the right specialist online.
At this age a home tutor is mostly a homework partner who quietly fills gaps: times tables, reading aloud, spellings and tidy written work. Three or four short sessions a week usually suit a young child better than one long one. If the school teaches in English but the family speaks Kannada, Telugu or Marathi at home, a few minutes of reading aloud every lesson builds confidence faster than extra worksheets.
Gaps that were small in Class 6 start to show in Classes 8 and 9, just before the SSC or CBSE board year. A good tutor starts with a few problems from earlier classes to find where the child stops, then rebuilds from there. In the Class 10 year, timed practice papers matter as much as new chapters; our Class 10 Maths plan and Class 10 Science notes follow NCERT and help any board's student with the core ideas.
After the SSC, the jump into HSC Science, Commerce or Arts is steep, and many science students are also thinking about an entrance test. A slow start in Physics or Maths in Class 11 tends to follow the student into Class 12, so a separate specialist for each worrying subject is often money well spent. Our Class 12 Physics strategies and calculus and algebra guide suit this stage.
Maths and Science from Class 6 upwards are the obvious starting point, but tutors on NXTutors also teach English, Marathi, Hindi, Social Science, Computer Science and the HSC Commerce papers, such as accounts and economics, and for younger children one tutor can often cover every subject. The core subjects each have a Solapur page: maths, science, physics, chemistry, biology and English.
Language deserves a word of its own here. A child can understand an idea perfectly and still lose marks because a technical term in the textbook, a word like "displacement" or "coefficient", was never made clear. Good tutors in a city like Solapur keep a short list of such words for each chapter and check them every week, in the textbook's language and, where it helps, in the child's home language too. For Maths, look for a tutor who searches for the first wrong step, even if it belongs to an older chapter. For Chemistry, the three strands, physical, organic and inorganic, need to move together; our Class 12 organic and inorganic Chemistry guide shows one way. For English, especially for a student moving from a Marathi-medium or Urdu-medium school, steady speaking practice helps, and our spoken English guide has exercises to use between lessons.
Yes, as long as the tutor is given a clear job. Science students in Solapur usually have three tests in mind alongside the HSC: MHT-CET, Maharashtra's common entrance test for professional courses, which the State Common Entrance Test Cell runs; JEE Main, which the National Testing Agency conducts and which leads, for those who qualify, to JEE Advanced; and NEET (UG), also conducted by the National Testing Agency, for medical courses. A personal tutor is most useful when given one of these jobs:
Take patterns and dates only from the official sites: cetcell.mahacet.org for MHT-CET, nta.ac.in for JEE Main and NEET (UG), and jeeadv.ac.in for JEE Advanced, since each year's bulletin can change the details. For more, see JEE tutors in Solapur and NEET tutors in Solapur, our topic plans for JEE Maths, JEE Physics and JEE Chemistry, and the NCERT-first approach to NEET Biology, which matters because NCERT books sit at the core of that preparation.
Neither is better in general; it depends on the child and the subject. A tutor at the table suits children below about Class 6, anyone who drifts off in front of a screen, and subjects where you want to see every line of working. Online lessons open the door to tutors anywhere in India, which matters for IB, IGCSE, an uncommon ISC elective, coding or senior Physics at entrance level. A few Solapur realities tip the choice:
For an online class, use a laptop or tablet rather than a small phone, keep a notebook within the camera's view, and test the connection the day before. Many families settle on two or three home visits a week with a short online check-in before tests, often with the same tutor. See online tutors for Solapur and our comparison of home and online tutoring.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
We do not fix fees. Each tutor sets their own, and every shortlisted tutor's fee is on the profile before you book the demo. Comparing the number alone can mislead, so put the same questions to each tutor:
Spend first on the subject that worries you most; one strong tutor there usually does more than the same money spread thinly. We do not suggest tutors above the amount you tell us. For a fuller breakdown, see the pricing guide and our local post on home tuition fees in Solapur.
A profile helps you shortlist; an hour of real teaching tells you much more. Sit nearby, or talk to your child afterwards, and go through these questions:
A few practical points help too. Send the lane, the nearest chowk and a map pin before the first visit; for a flat, add the building, wing and floor. Keep the lesson in a shared room while an adult is at home. Our demo class checklist for parents and guide to choosing a board and stream go further.
Any month can work, but each part of the year asks for a different kind of help. Boards keep their own calendars: CBSE's session begins in April, while State Board schools follow the dates their school and the board announce.
Starting early buys the most time. Starting late still helps, with the focus moving to past papers, timing and exam technique.
Three steps. Tell us the class, board, medium and subjects, your colony with its road and a landmark, and the free hours in the week. Look over the two or three tutors we suggest, with their fees, and choose one for the free demo. Decide after that lesson. You can also open your own locality from the list on this page, browse tutor profiles or book a free demo class directly. Where no home tutor lives near enough yet, an online tutor can start straight away.
For road-by-road advice, our Solapur home tuition guide walks through all five zones, from Bale on the Pune road to Shelgi on the north-eastern side.
Elsewhere in Maharashtra, we also cover Pune, Mumbai, Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Nagpur, Kolhapur and Amravati; every city we serve is on the cities page.
