What home tuition costs in Bikaner

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Example only, not a quote: one subject, one-hour classes, 4 weeks a month. Your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.
Classes a week Classes a month At ₹800 an hour At ₹2,500 an hour
2 8 ₹6,400 a month ₹20,000 a month
3 12 ₹9,600 a month ₹30,000 a month

Why one-to-one home tuition costs more than group coaching

In a coaching batch, one teacher's hour is shared by many students, so each family pays for a part of it. At home the whole hour is your child's: the pace, the questions and the homework check follow one student, and the tutor's travel to your home is part of the working day. A small group of two or three children from the same society usually costs less per child, with less individual attention.

Home tuition in Bikaner: a parent's guide from Kote Gate to Gangashahar

Bikaner is a desert city in the north-west of Rajasthan, and families here usually describe where they live by the old landmarks that everyone knows. The walled city spreads out from Kote Gate, with Junagarh Fort on its edge; Lalgarh, named after the palace on that side, holds the north; the big numbered colonies of the east and north-west grew later; Rani Bazar and Pawanpuri sit south of the centre; and Gangashahar with its neighbours forms the south-west. Children here study under the Rajasthan board, CBSE and other syllabuses, often in Hindi, English or a mix of the two. For a family looking for a tutor, two things matter more than anything else: whether the tutor lives near enough to keep coming every week, and whether they know your child's board, class and medium well.

How does a Bikaner family find a tutor through NXTutors?

You send one request, in a few lines. Mention your child's class and board, the medium they study in, the subjects that need help, your colony or mohalla with a landmark nearby, the days and hours that are free after school, and whether you want lessons at home, online or a blend. If you have a monthly budget in mind, add it, so nobody above it is suggested. We then send you two or three matched tutors. You can read each tutor's fee before the demo, and the opening lesson with the tutor you choose is a free demo. In Bikaner, four details shape a good match:

  • Which side of the city you are on. The old city, the northern colonies around Lalgarh, the sectors of JNV Colony and the south-west around Gangashahar are quite separate parts of Bikaner. A tutor who lives on your side is far more likely to keep the same weekly slot through the whole year.
  • The board and the medium. A Rajasthan board student writing papers in Hindi needs something different from a CBSE student using English-medium NCERT books. Say both clearly, and say if your child is moving from one medium to the other.
  • How your address is described. In the old city, houses are found by mohalla, chowk and a well-known shop. In the newer colonies, a block letter or sector number does the work. Tell us which kind of address you have.
  • The hours that are truly free. School, homework, family time and any extra class all compete for the same evenings. Name one hour that can stay fixed; tutors who cannot keep it are not put on your list.

Treat the demo as a normal lesson on whatever your child is studying this week. If it does not suit, tell us, and the next tutor on the list gets the chance. Switching tutor later on is also free.

Bikaner in six zones

Matches for Bikaner are drawn from our pool of tutor profiles, and 20 Bikaner localities have a page of their own. On each locality page, tutors appear in the same order: people living in that locality first, then tutors who already travel there, then the rest of the zone, then Bikaner as a whole, and then online tutors. To plan home visits we group the city into six zones, starting in the old city and moving round: Old City and Kote Gate, North-West Bikaner, Lalgarh and Karni Nagar, JNV Colony and Sadul Ganj, Rani Bazar and Pawanpuri and Gangashahar and Bhinasar. These groups are ours, drawn up for tutor travel. They do not follow the municipal corporation's wards or any official boundary.

Old City and Kote Gate: lanes inside the walled city

Kote Gate is one of the historic gates of Bikaner's walled city, and today the name covers the lanes of homes and shops on both sides of it. Chaukhunti Mohalla lies just north of the gate, where houses stand wall to wall and many families run a business from the ground floor. Purani Ginani, also called Old Ginani, sits a little further north on the edge of the old city, with Junagarh Fort close by as the landmark most people use. Kotegate has its own sub post office, which helps when a tutor is checking a postal address.

Bikaner Junction, in the Bikaner division of North Western Railway, sits just east of Kote Gate, so tutors from other parts of the city can reach the old city without much planning. The three localities are close together, and a tutor who teaches one child near the gate can often take another in Purani Ginani the same evening. Lane numbers are rarely used here. Give the mohalla, the chowk where the tutor should turn and a shop sign or house name. In a busy household, choose a room away from the shop counter and the front door before the first lesson.

North-West Bikaner: large colonies laid out in blocks

Murlidhar Vyas Colony, which most people shorten to MDV Colony, is a large residential colony on the western side of the city, with Mukta Prasad Colony listed among its neighbours. Bangla Nagar lies between the two and has a sub post office of its own, written Bangalanagar in postal records, a spelling worth knowing if a tutor cannot find the name on a map. Mukta Prasad Nagar, also written Mukta Prasad Colony, spreads over a wide area further north.

Homes in this zone are mostly family houses in colonies arranged by block and sector, so the block or sector number should come first in any address, ahead of the colony name. Because the zone sits on an edge of the city, fewer tutors may live within a few streets of you than in the centre. One practical answer is a home tutor for the main subject and an online tutor for a second one. Send a map pin before the demo, since newer streets on this side are easy to miss.

Lalgarh and Karni Nagar: the northern side of the city

Lalgarh takes its name from Lalgarh Palace, which stands north of Junagarh Fort and is the landmark families on this side give first. Lalgarh Road has its own sub post office, and Lalgarh Junction serves this northern part of Bikaner on the Jodhpur–Bathinda line. Karni Nagar is a residential colony set out in lettered blocks, such as Block A and Block B, and residents describe it as calm. Samta Nagar sits right beside it, a colony made up mostly of family houses.

The three localities are close enough that one tutor can usually cover all of them, so the choice of nearby tutors is wider than any single colony suggests. In Karni Nagar, put the block letter before the house number and mention the road you enter from. For a tutor new to the area, Lalgarh Palace or the Lalgarh Road post office is the easiest reference. A quiet colony makes a fixed after-school hour easy to protect, which suits steady weekly work in Maths and the sciences.

JNV Colony and Sadul Ganj: numbered sectors in the east

Jai Narayan Vyas Colony, known to nearly everyone as JNV Colony, is a large residential colony on the eastern side of Bikaner, divided into numbered sectors such as Sector 1 and Sector 4. A resident review places it near Jaipur Road. Sadul Ganj lies a little to its west, Surajpura Colony is further east on the edge of the city, and Vallabh Garden is to the south-east, joined to Sudarshana Nagar by a road that carries both names on local maps.

National Highway 11 passes through Bikaner on its way from Rewari towards Jaisalmer. Homes across this zone are mostly family houses, and parents with two children in different classes often ask one tutor to teach both, one after the other, on the same visit. JNV Colony is too big for its name alone, so write the sector number first. In Surajpura Colony a map pin saves time, and in Vallabh Garden it helps to say which end of Vallabh Garden Road you live nearer to.

Rani Bazar and Pawanpuri: colonies south of the centre

Rani Bazar mixes homes and shops with an industrial area that uses numbered roads, such as Road 11, and it has its own sub post office. An underpass road links it with the part of the city to its north. Pawanpuri, also written Pawan Puri, is a residential colony with a South Extension further south and a sub post office of its own. Marudhara Nagar is a small colony next to Pawanpuri with a park that makes a handy landmark, and Sudarshana Nagar lies to the south, with an inner road network of its own.

These colonies sit close together, so a tutor living in one of them can usually reach the other three. Small details decide the first visit. In the Rani Bazar industrial area, give the road number with the building name. In Pawanpuri, say whether you are in the main colony or the South Extension. In Marudhara Nagar, say which side of the park your house faces. Where both parents are out at work, agree at the demo how the tutor will share progress, such as a short message at the end of each week.

Gangashahar and Bhinasar: the south-west side

Gangashahar is a long-settled part of south-west Bikaner with its own sub post office, and a resident review places it near the road towards Nokha. Bhinasar lies right next to it, also with a sub post office, and its homes sit along lanes known by mohalla names and landmarks more than by numbers. Sujandesar, spelt Sujandeser in postal records, is a little to the west of Gangashahar and has a branch post office.

Addresses here depend on landmarks, so a map pin and a well-known corner help more than a street name. Some children on this side study in Hindi medium in the early classes and move to English-medium books later, which makes a tutor who explains in both languages worth asking for. If no tutor lives in Bhinasar or Sujandesar itself, one from Gangashahar can usually come across, and the three localities together give a reasonable choice.

Rajasthan board, CBSE or another syllabus: which tutor fits?

Bikaner children study under several systems, and a tutor who is at home with one style of paper may need time to adjust to another. We check the board first and only then look at the subject.

BoardWhat the exams involveA good question for the tutor
Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan (RBSE), based in Ajmer The Secondary School Examination at Class 10 and the Senior Secondary Examination at Class 12 in Arts, Science and Commerce; Praveshika (Class 10) and Varishtha Upadhyay (Class 12) for Sanskrit Shiksha students. Will you teach from the prescribed books in my child's medium and practise from the board's own published material?
CBSE NCERT textbooks as the base, with sample papers and marking schemes published each year on the CBSE academic site. How will you check that my child can write a complete board answer, not just pick the right option?
CISCE: ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) A wide spread of subjects with long written answers, prescribed English literature and project work. How will you plan the year so that every subject gets revision time, not only the hard ones?
IB Diploma and Cambridge IGCSE Coursework and internal assessment for IB; past papers and mark schemes for IGCSE. How will you give feedback on coursework while keeping the work entirely my child's own?

The Rajasthan board was set up in 1957 and moved to Ajmer in 1961, and it publishes its notices, timetables and exam details on rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in. Patterns can change between years, so read the current notice there rather than an old printout. For CBSE, use the sample papers on cbseacademic.nic.in; for ICSE and ISC, the regulations on cisce.org. Our pages on Rajasthan board tutors in Bikaner, CBSE home tutors in Bikaner and ICSE home tutors in Bikaner go further into each one. Families following IB or IGCSE usually find the right specialist online.

How does the tutor's job change from Class 1 to Class 12?

Classes 1 to 5: reading, writing and number sense

At this age the goal is a child who reads fluently, writes neatly and handles tables, place value and simple word problems with confidence. A calm tutor who comes two or three times a week usually does more than a long daily session. Where the family speaks Hindi or Rajasthani at home and the school teaches in English, a few minutes of reading aloud in each lesson make a visible difference within a term.

Classes 6 to 10: building towards the board year

Science splits into Physics, Chemistry and Biology chapters around Class 9, and Maths turns more abstract. A tutor who knows both Class 8 and Class 9 can close old gaps before they grow. For Class 10, plan revision early; our Class 10 Maths preparation plan and Class 10 Science notes are built on the NCERT books that many boards share.

Classes 11 and 12: a stream, and often a specialist

The Rajasthan board's Senior Secondary Examination runs in Arts, Science and Commerce, and each stream needs a different kind of tutor. A Science student may want separate tutors for Physics and Maths; a Commerce student needs Accountancy and Economics help; an Arts student needs practice with long answers. Our Class 12 Physics strategies suit the final year.

Which subjects can a Bikaner tutor help with?

Maths and Science are the obvious starting points from Class 6 onwards, but tutors on NXTutors also teach English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Social Science, Accountancy, Economics, Business Studies, History, Geography, Political Science and Computer Science. For younger children, one tutor can usually cover every school subject. Each core subject has a Bikaner page of its own: maths, science, physics, chemistry, biology and English.

What does good subject teaching look like? A Maths tutor traces a wrong answer back to the step where it went wrong, even when that step belongs to a chapter from last year. A Physics tutor asks the student to explain the situation in plain words before writing any formula. A Chemistry tutor keeps numericals, reactions and facts moving together rather than one after another; our Organic and Inorganic Chemistry guide shows the approach. An English tutor, especially for a child coming from Hindi-medium books, builds vocabulary in both languages and moves to full English answers step by step; the spoken English guide gives extra practice at home. Sanskrit is worth a special mention: some Bikaner students follow the Sanskrit Shiksha route, with Praveshika at Class 10 and Varishtha Upadhyay at Class 12, so name the exact course in your request.

Can a Bikaner student prepare for JEE or NEET with a home tutor?

Yes. A personal tutor can sit alongside school and, where a student has one, a coaching class. The tutor is most useful with a clear job rather than a general brief to "help with entrance". Four jobs work well:

  1. Clearing doubts every week. The student brings the problems they could not solve, and nothing new starts until those are understood.
  2. Keeping the board year on track. Written answers, practicals, English and the second language still count for the Class 12 result, and entrance practice does not train them.
  3. Checked practice. A set of problems each week in the subject that worries the student most, marked line by line rather than only for the final answer.
  4. One plan for two goals. The NCERT books sit under both board papers and the entrance syllabus, so a tutor can plan revision that serves both at once.

Stick to official facts about the exams. JEE Main and NEET UG are conducted by the National Testing Agency, and candidates who qualify through JEE Main can go on to JEE Advanced. Every date, pattern and eligibility rule belongs to that year's information bulletin on nta.ac.in or jeeadv.ac.in, not to anyone's memory. Read more on JEE home tutors in Bikaner and NEET home tutors in Bikaner, along with our topic-wise JEE Maths plan, the JEE Physics plan and the NCERT-first method for NEET Biology.

Is home tuition or online tuition better in Bikaner?

Neither is better in every case; it depends on the child, the subject and the hour. A tutor at home suits young children, students who lose focus on a screen and subjects where you want to watch every line of working on paper. Online lessons open up tutors from across India, which helps for IB, IGCSE, less common ISC electives or a demanding entrance subject. Some local points to weigh:

  • The edges of the city. Surajpura Colony, Mukta Prasad Nagar and Sujandesar sit on the outer sides of Bikaner, so fewer tutors may live close by. A home tutor for one subject and an online tutor for another is a practical mix.
  • Very hot summers. Bikaner's summer afternoons are fierce, so it makes sense to hold home lessons in the early morning or evening, and to switch the hottest days to a screen instead of cancelling.
  • Two sides of the centre. A tutor in Gangashahar and a family in Karni Nagar are on opposite sides of the city. For visits more than once a week, a tutor from your own zone matters more than a slightly stronger one far away.
  • Busy homes in the old city. Where the ground floor is a shop and the house is full, an online lesson in a quiet corner can sometimes work better than a visit.

A common pattern is two home lessons a week with a short online session before a test, with the same tutor doing both. See online tuition in Bikaner and our comparison of home and online tutoring.

How much do home tutors charge in Bikaner?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

We do not set fees. Every tutor chooses their own, and you see each shortlisted tutor's fee before the demo. The number alone tells you little, so put the same questions to each tutor:

  • How long is each lesson, and how many lessons a week would you suggest for this class?
  • Do you charge differently for board revision and for entrance-level problem solving?
  • If you teach two children in one visit, how is that charged?
  • What happens to the fee when a lesson is missed, on either side?

Put the money first into the subject that is causing the most trouble; one strong tutor there usually helps more than spreading the same amount thinly. We will not suggest a tutor above the budget you give. The pricing guide breaks fees down by class and subject, and our post on home tuition fees in Bikaner looks at the local picture.

What should you watch for in the free demo?

A profile helps you make a shortlist, but one real lesson tells you much more. Sit close by, or ask your child afterwards, and go through these points:

  • Did the tutor ask about the school, the board and the week's tests before starting?
  • Did they test what your child already knows with a few questions, instead of beginning from page one?
  • Did your child follow easily in the language you asked for, Hindi, English or a mix?
  • When asked about this year's board paper, was the answer specific or vague?
  • Did your child spend most of the hour writing and solving, or mostly listening?
  • Did the tutor set clear work for the days between lessons?
  • Can the tutor honestly keep the agreed slot every week, travelling from where they live?

The practical side matters as well. Send the full address with a landmark and a map pin; in the old city, add the chowk and a shop sign. Keep lessons in a shared room while an adult is at home, especially for younger children. Our demo class checklist for parents and the guide to choosing a board and stream cover more ground.

When is a good time to start tuition?

You can start at any point in the year, but each season asks for something different. Taking the April start of the CBSE session as a guide:

  • April to June. The new session and the summer break are the easiest time to fill last year's gaps. Bikaner summers are very hot, so keep lessons to the early morning or after sunset.
  • July to September. Settle into a steady weekly rhythm while the new chapters arrive, with an online fallback on days when the weather makes travel hard.
  • The festival months. Expect a few lighter weeks in autumn, and add a lesson before and after them to keep the syllabus moving.
  • Winter. Finish the syllabus, then move to full papers and pre-board practice, taking exam dates only from the board's own notices.
  • Late winter and spring. Board exams take over, and JEE and NEET candidates follow the schedule in NTA's bulletin for that year.

Rajasthan board families should follow the board's own calendar and notices, which need not match the CBSE timetable. Starting early gives the most room; starting late still helps, with the focus shifting to past papers and exam technique.

How do you get started in Bikaner?

It takes three steps. Tell us the class, board, medium and subjects, your colony or mohalla with a landmark, and the hours that stay free after school. Look over the two or three tutors we suggest, with their fees, and pick one for the free demo. Then decide after that lesson. You can also open your own locality from the list on this page, browse tutor profiles or book a free demo class straight away. If no home tutor lives close enough yet, an online tutor can begin without a wait.

For zone-by-zone advice, our Bikaner home tuition guide walks through all six zones, from the lanes around Kote Gate to Gangashahar, Bhinasar and Sujandesar in the south-west.

Elsewhere in Rajasthan, we also cover Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota; every city is listed on our cities page.
