What home tuition costs in Amravati

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Example only, not a quote: one subject, one-hour classes, 4 weeks a month. Your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.
Classes a week Classes a month At ₹800 an hour At ₹2,500 an hour
2 8 ₹6,400 a month ₹20,000 a month
3 12 ₹9,600 a month ₹30,000 a month

Why one-to-one home tuition costs more than group coaching

In a coaching batch, one teacher's hour is shared by many students, so each family pays for a part of it. At home the whole hour is your child's: the pace, the questions and the homework check follow one student, and the tutor's travel to your home is part of the working day. A small group of two or three children from the same society usually costs less per child, with less individual attention.

Home tuition in Amravati: a parents' guide from Camp to Badnera

Amravati is the headquarters of its district and division in Vidarbha, and its homes spread out from an old core of peths. Ambapeth, Rajapeth and Shrikrishna Peth hold the centre, with the Maltekdi hill rising between Rukhmini Nagar and Camp. North of the core lie Camp and Gadge Nagar, south-west are the colonies around the Rajapeth chowk, the south-east has Dastur Nagar and Yashoda Nagar, and at the southern end sit Saturna and Badnera, which was a separate town until the municipal corporation took it in. Children here may study on the State Board in Marathi, semi-English or English medium, or in a CBSE or ICSE school, and older students often carry MHT-CET, JEE Main or NEET plans as well. So a family looking for a tutor needs two answers early: who lives near enough to come every week, and what exactly that tutor should work on.

How does an Amravati family get a tutor through NXTutors?

You send one request, and it can be short. Write the class, the board and the medium, the subjects that are causing trouble, your colony and the chowk nearest to your door, the hours that are really free once school and any coaching are over, and whether lessons should happen at home, on a screen or both. A rough monthly budget keeps the shortlist sensible. Within that request we match two or three tutors for you. You can read each tutor's fee before you meet anyone, and the first lesson with the tutor you choose is a free demo. In Amravati, four details shape the shortlist more than anything else:

  • Which side of the old core you live on. A tutor from Rajapeth can reach Kanwar Nagar or Sharda Nagar without crossing the centre, while Badnera and Arjun Nagar sit at opposite ends of the city. A tutor who lives close is far more likely to keep coming through the whole year.
  • Board and medium together. A State Board student in Marathi medium, a semi-English student who reads maths and science in English, and a CBSE or ICSE student each need a tutor who knows that textbook and those words.
  • The hour that stays free. Senior students often have coaching or weekly tests. Tell us the slot that is left, and we leave out tutors who cannot hold it.
  • How to find the door. In the peths, a lane and a nearby shop matter more than a road name; in the newer colonies, a map pin and a house number save the first visit.

Use the demo for real work on the chapter your child is studying this week. If it does not suit you, say so and another tutor from the shortlist teaches the next trial. If you want a different tutor later in the year, switching is free too.

Amravati in five zones

Tutors for Amravati come from a pool of 1 sample tutor profile, and 19 Amravati localities has its own page. Each page lists tutors in the same order: residents of that locality first, next anyone already teaching there, after that the wider zone, then the whole city, and online tutors last. For home visits we group the city into five zones, starting in the old core and moving outwards: Ambapeth and the Old City, Rajapeth and Kanwar Nagar, Camp and Gadge Nagar, Dastur Nagar and Yashoda Nagar and Saturna and Badnera. These zones are our own, drawn for tutor travel; they are not the municipal corporation's wards or prabhags.

Ambapeth and the Old City: peths, chowks and the branch-line station

Ambapeth is one of the three old peths of the city, and Ambapeth Chowk is a name people all over Amravati use when they give directions. Shrikrishna Peth, also written Shri Krishna Peth, is another of the peths and sits close to Rajapeth, Rukhmini Nagar, Maltekdi and Vivekanand Colony. Rukhmini Nagar, often spelt Rukmini Nagar, lies on the Maltekdi side of the core, with the hill between it and Camp. Vivekanand Colony is a residential colony beside Shrikrishna Peth, quieter than the peth lanes around it.

Amravati railway station is in this part of the city. It is the end of a short branch line from Badnera, so its trains do not pass through; the main line runs through Badnera instead. Shyam Chowk and Depot Chowk, where the city bus terminus stands, are other junctions people name in this zone. Homes here range from family houses held for generations on narrow lanes to newer flats, and many families run a shop or an office close to where they live. Because the colonies sit so close together, a tutor living in one of them can often take lessons in two or three of them on the same evening. Give the chowk first, then the lane and house number, and agree on a quiet room, since a shared family home can be busy at lesson time.

Rajapeth and Kanwar Nagar: the colonies south-west of the core

Rajapeth is the third of the old peths, and the Rajapeth chowk is the point most families in this zone start their directions from. Kanwar Nagar is counted among the main parts of the city and joins Rajapeth on one side and Yashoda Nagar on the other. Sharda Nagar sits next to Sharda Vihar, which is a separate colony, so write the name exactly. Ravi Nagar has its own chowk, a handy marker for a first visit, and Shankar Nagar lies along Shankar Nagar Road, which runs south towards Dastur Nagar and Yashoda Nagar.

Most homes here are family houses and smaller apartment buildings. The main roads stay busy into the evening, while the inner lanes are calm, so the clearest address is a chowk, a turn and a lane. Many students from Class 8 upwards in these colonies go to coaching as well as school, and parents often want a tutor to close gaps in the board syllabus that a fast coaching class leaves open. Since the five colonies touch one another, the pool of nearby tutors is wider than any one colony suggests. Share coaching days and weekly test days with the tutor at the start, so tuition never lands on the same evening as a test.

Camp and Gadge Nagar: the north side, from Panchavati Square to Kathora Naka

Camp is one of the oldest names on the city map. The district's own history notes that the place where a British general once camped is still called Camp. It lies just north-east of the centre and mixes offices, shops and homes. Gadge Nagar, named among the main parts of the city, sits on the other side of Panchavati Square, where the Panchavati flyover stands. Rathi Nagar is close to Shegaon Naka, a junction people use on the north-western side, and Arjun Nagar lies further out, with Kathora Naka a square to the north-west.

Gadge Nagar, Rathi Nagar and Arjun Nagar are mainly homes: family houses and newer apartment buildings. Camp's roads are busy by day and quieter after office hours, so an evening slot often suits it. Many senior students on this side combine school or junior college with coaching for MHT-CET, JEE Main or NEET, which leaves a narrow window for a tutor. Towards the northern edge, near Rahatgaon, fewer tutors may live inside each colony, so a home tutor for one subject plus an online class for another is a common plan. In Camp, say whether you are nearer Panchavati Square or the Maltekdi side; in Rathi Nagar, say whether Shegaon Naka or Kathora Naka is closer; in Arjun Nagar, send a map pin with the main road you turn off.

Dastur Nagar and Yashoda Nagar: the south-east, towards the industrial area

Dastur Nagar is a large residential part of south-east Amravati, with Gopal Nagar, Rajapeth, Ravi Nagar and the industrial area as its neighbours. Yashoda Nagar touches Dastur Nagar, Kanwar Nagar and Shankar Nagar Road, and both are counted among the main parts of the city. Gopal Nagar is close to the Badnera Road side, between Sai Nagar and Saturna to one side and the industrial area to the other.

These are mainly family houses and apartment buildings, with small shops on the lanes. Many parents work in offices, shops or industry and leave home early, so the household day can be long. For a young child, a lesson soon after school, while there is still energy for it, often works better than a late one; other families keep one longer session for a Saturday or Sunday morning. Name your colony inside Dastur Nagar or Yashoda Nagar, then the nearest chowk. In Gopal Nagar, add "Amravati" and a landmark to the address, because the colony name is common in many towns and a tutor searching a map can land in the wrong place.

Saturna and Badnera: the southern end and the junction town

Saturna and Sai Nagar, also written Sainagar, are named among the main parts of the city and sit on its south-western edge, near Akoli, Gopal Nagar and the Badnera Road. Badnera, further south, was a separate municipal town. In 1983 the municipal corporation was formed from the Amravati and Badnera councils together with eighteen revenue villages, and many families there still say they live in Badnera rather than Amravati.

Badnera Junction is on the Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai line, with a broad-gauge line to Narkhed. New Amravati station, on that Badnera–Narkhed line, serves the west side of the city. The colonies here are spread out, with family houses and newer apartment buildings, and fewer tutors may live close by than in the centre. Families often pair a home tutor for the subject that needs a face-to-face hour with an online class for another. When you write the address, add "Amravati city" after Saturna, since a village with the same name lies in Bhatkuli taluka; for Badnera, name the part of the town and send a map pin before the first visit.

State Board, CBSE, ICSE or international: what each asks of a tutor

Amravati families mostly choose between the Maharashtra State Board, CBSE and the CISCE papers, and a few students follow an international programme, usually with a specialist online. We check the board and medium before we suggest anyone, because a tutor who knows one paper well can still be new to another.

BoardWhat it coversWhat to ask the tutor
Maharashtra State Board (MSBSHSE) SSC at the end of Class 10 and HSC at the end of Class 12, in Science, Commerce or Arts. The board works through divisional boards, and Amravati has its own divisional board. Which medium have you taught this textbook in, and how will you use the board's own question papers?
CBSE NCERT books as the base, with sample question papers and marking schemes released for the board classes. How will you check that my child writes a full, stepped answer the way the marking scheme rewards?
CISCE: ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) Long written answers in many subjects, set English texts, and specimen papers published by CISCE. How will you pace the year so the long syllabus is finished well before the pre-boards?
IB Diploma and Cambridge IGCSE Internal Assessment and final papers for IB; past papers, mark schemes and command words for IGCSE. How do you give feedback on coursework while every word stays my child's own?

For the State Board, take every timetable, pattern and notice from mahahsscboard.in, not from a message forwarded in a parents' group. The site also lists the Amravati divisional board, and your child's school can tell you how forms and hall tickets reach you. Look for CBSE sample papers on cbseacademic.nic.in and CISCE specimen papers on cisce.org. Our pages for Maharashtra Board tutors in Amravati, CBSE home tutors in Amravati and ICSE home tutors in Amravati go into each board in more depth. For IB or IGCSE, an online specialist is usually the practical route.

What should a tutor focus on at each stage of school?

Classes 1 to 7: reading, tables and tidy notebooks

At this stage the aim is a child who reads aloud without stumbling, knows tables without counting on fingers and keeps a notebook up to date. Where Marathi is spoken at home and the school teaches in English, or the other way round, a short daily reading in the school's language at every lesson pays off fast. A tutor should also notice when a child is copying sums without understanding them, and slow down there.

Classes 8 to 10: building towards the SSC or the board year

Algebra, geometry and the science chapters grow heavier now, and a gap left in Class 8 tends to show up again in Class 10. A tutor's job is to keep the school syllabus moving steadily, so the board year starts without old chapters waiting. For CBSE students, two NCERT-based posts help: a Maths preparation plan for Class 10 and Science notes for Class 10.

Classes 11 and 12: a stream, then a specialist

After the SSC or Class 10, students pick Science, Commerce or Arts, and Class 11 moves quickly. A weak start in Physics or Maths usually carries into Class 12, so a separate tutor for each hard subject often helps more than one tutor for everything. In the final year, try our Physics strategies for Class 12 alongside the Class 12 calculus and algebra guide.

Which subjects can an Amravati tutor teach, and in which medium?

Most requests ask for Maths and Science from the middle classes upwards, but tutors listed with us also teach English, Marathi, Hindi, Social Science, Computer Science, Accountancy, Economics and more, and a single tutor can usually cover every school subject for a younger child. Six core subjects have their own Amravati pages: maths, science, physics, chemistry, biology, plus English.

Medium matters as much as subject. Marathi is the language most people speak in Amravati, with Urdu, Hindi and other languages also heard at home, and schools teach in more than one medium. A semi-English student may learn maths and science in English and the other subjects in Marathi, so the tutor has to use the same terms the textbook uses. If your child is moving from Marathi medium to English in Class 8 or Class 11, ask for a tutor who can explain a hard idea in Marathi first and then practise the English words for it.

What does good subject teaching look like here? In Maths, the tutor traces a wrong answer back to the step where it first slipped, even when that step belongs to last year's book. In Physics, they ask your child to say what is happening in words before writing a formula. In Chemistry, they keep numericals, reactions and facts moving together; our Organic and Inorganic Chemistry guide shows one way. In English, they get your child speaking and writing in full sentences every lesson, and our spoken English guide adds practice between visits.

Where does a home tutor fit around MHT-CET, JEE and NEET in Amravati?

A tutor helps most with a narrow, clear brief. Many HSC science students in Amravati keep more than one entrance test in view. MHT-CET, Maharashtra's entrance test for professional courses, is run by the State Common Entrance Test Cell with PCM and PCB groups. JEE Main and NEET (UG) are conducted by the National Testing Agency, and students who qualify through JEE Main can go on to JEE Advanced. Give the tutor one clear job from this list:

  1. Holding the HSC together. Board marks and board practicals still count, and an entrance timetable can push them aside. A tutor keeps the HSC syllabus and written answers on track.
  2. A weekly doubt session. The student brings the questions that coaching or self-study left unsolved, and nothing new starts until those are clear.
  3. Timed practice in the weakest subject. A set of problems each week, checked line by line, with the mistakes kept in one notebook.
  4. One plan for board and entrance. State Board, NCERT and entrance syllabuses overlap in many chapters, so a tutor can order revision to serve all of them.

Take every date, pattern and syllabus from the official source for that year: cetcell.mahacet.org for MHT-CET, nta.ac.in for JEE Main and NEET (UG), and jeeadv.ac.in for JEE Advanced. For more, see JEE tutors in Amravati, NEET tutors in Amravati, chapter-wise JEE plans in Maths, Physics and Chemistry, plus a NEET Biology method that starts from NCERT.

Should lessons in Amravati be at home or online?

Both work well; what matters is the child and the time of day. Home lessons suit younger children, students who lose focus on a screen, and subjects where you want to watch every line being written. Online lessons open up tutors from all over India, which helps with IB, IGCSE, uncommon ISC electives or advanced entrance problems. In Amravati, a few local points tip the choice:

  • The ends of the city are far apart. Badnera and Saturna in the south and Arjun Nagar in the north sit well away from each other, so choosing a tutor from your own zone usually beats chasing a slightly stronger one far away.
  • Evenings near the busy chowks. Around the Rajapeth chowk, Panchavati Square and the old peths, the roads fill up after work. Starting earlier, or going online on the heaviest days, keeps lessons punctual.
  • Hot summers and a long monsoon. Amravati's summer heat runs from March to June and the rains from July into October. Agree in advance that the worst days move online instead of being cancelled.
  • Mixed plans for the outer colonies. Where fewer tutors live close by, as in parts of Badnera or near Rahatgaon, one subject at home and another online is a practical split.

A common pattern is two or three home visits a week plus a short online check before a test, with the same tutor doing both. See online tutors for Amravati and read our home versus online tutoring comparison.

How much does a home tutor in Amravati cost?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

We do not set the fee. Each tutor sets their own, and you see the fee of every shortlisted tutor before the demo. Numbers alone say little, so ask every shortlisted tutor these four things:

  • For this class, how long should a lesson run, and how often each week?
  • Does the fee change for MHT-CET, JEE or NEET work compared with board-level help?
  • Does coming to my side of Amravati, say Badnera or Arjun Nagar, change anything?
  • What happens to a lesson that either of us has to miss?

Spend first where the marks are weakest. A good tutor in that one subject tends to help more than thin cover across four or five. We never suggest a tutor above the budget you give us. For a class-by-class breakdown, see the pricing guide, and for Amravati specifically, read home tuition fees in Amravati.

How can you judge a tutor during the free demo?

A profile gets a tutor onto your list; the lesson itself shows how they teach. Stay within earshot, or talk to your child later, and check these points:

  • Did the tutor ask about school, coaching and weekly tests before starting to teach?
  • Did they spend the first few minutes finding out what your child already knows?
  • Did they use the words from your child's textbook, in the medium your child studies in?
  • Asked about this year's SSC, HSC or board paper, did they give clear detail?
  • Who did most of the work in the hour: your child or the tutor?
  • Could the tutor say what the next four weeks would cover?
  • Can the tutor reach your home at that time every single week?

The practical side matters too. For a house in the peths, send the lane, the house number and a shop the tutor can spot from the chowk; for a flat, add the building name and floor. Hold lessons in a common room, with a grown-up in the house. For more, open the demo class checklist for parents or our guide to choosing a board and stream.

Which part of the school year suits a start?

Tuition can begin in any month; what changes is the work it should do. State Board, CBSE and ICSE schools do not always start and end their terms together, so take the dates from your child's school and board:

  • Before and at the start of the school year. The ideal window to close last year's gaps before new chapters arrive. In the hot months, morning or evening lessons are kinder.
  • The monsoon months. Keep a steady weekly rhythm, with an online lesson as the agreed fallback on heavy-rain days.
  • Festival weeks. Lessons often thin out for a while, so add sessions on either side.
  • Winter. Close the syllabus and switch to whole papers and prelims; take the board timetable only from the official notice.
  • Late winter and spring. SSC, HSC and other board papers, followed by the entrance tests for senior students.

Starting early buys time. Starting late is still worth it: the hours just go more to past papers, pacing and how to set out answers.

Ready to find a tutor in Amravati?

It takes three moves. Send the class, board, medium and subjects, your colony and nearest chowk, and the free hours in your child's week.
