Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

For an Amravati child on the Maharashtra State Board, school leads to two public examinations: the SSC at the end of Standard X and the HSC after Standard XII at junior college. Between the two, families face questions a tutor should answer without guesswork. Which language papers is my child sitting? How is SSC maths actually marked? What changes at junior college? This guide reads the board's own subject lists and its mathematics evaluation scheme in detail, then shows how a tutor turns them into a weekly plan for an Amravati home. The board revises its documents, so confirm anything important on mahahsscboard.in.
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) conducts the SSC (Class 10) and HSC (Class 12) examinations across Maharashtra. Its site, mahahsscboard.in, publishes the subject lists, syllabus pages and a long shelf of subject-wise evaluation schemes. The site also lists divisional boards, and Amravati has its own divisional board page there, alongside divisions such as Pune, Nagpur, Mumbai and Kolhapur.
For most parents, that structure sits in the background. Forms, hall tickets and practical arrangements usually reach families through the school or junior college, and the question papers are common across the state. An Amravati student writes the same SSC maths papers as a student anywhere else in Maharashtra, so a tutor here should plan from the board's state-wide documents, not from a local guidebook.
| Group | Examples and codes | Where a tutor helps |
|---|---|---|
| First language | Marathi (01), Hindi (02), English (03), Urdu (04), among many others | Long answers, grammar and letter writing in that language |
| Second or third language | Single papers such as Marathi (16), English (17), Urdu (18) or Sanskrit (27) | Children whose home language is different from the paper |
| Composite language papers | Pairs such as Marathi-Hindi (AB), Marathi-Urdu (AC) and Hindi-Urdu (BC) | Knowing which half carries which marks |
| Core subjects | Mathematics (71), Science & Technology (72), Social Sciences (73) | The great majority of tuition requests |
| Grade subjects | Health and Physical Education (P1), Scouting or Guiding (P2), NCC (P3) and others | Graded in school; no tutor needed |
Before Standard IX, find out exactly which language papers your child sits, with their codes. A child taking Urdu as a first language and Marathi as a second needs quite different help from one with the reverse. Our English home tutor in Amravati page covers English, and the science home tutor in Amravati page covers Science & Technology.
Marathi is the main language of Amravati, with Urdu and Hindi also widely spoken. State Board schools in Maharashtra teach in different media: fully Marathi, semi-English (where maths and science are taught in English) and English, among others. The medium decides the language of every maths and science answer. When you ask for a tutor, give the medium as well as the board. A tutor may explain an idea in Marathi or Hindi at home, but the child must practise writing answers in the medium of the textbook. If your child is changing medium at any stage, ask the tutor to keep a two-column list of maths and science terms.
The board examines Standard X mathematics as two separate papers: Part I (algebra) and Part II (geometry). Each is a written paper of 40 marks with two hours allowed, and each is set with internal choice so that 60 marks of questions are printed. Both papers follow the same five-question pattern:
| Question | What is asked | Marks counted |
|---|---|---|
| 1 (A) and (B) | Four multiple-choice questions, then four short sub-questions, all of one mark | 8 |
| 2 (A) and (B) | Two of three activities, then four of five sub-questions, two marks each | 12 |
| 3 (A) and (B) | One of two activities, then two of four sub-questions, three marks each; in Part II one sub-question asks the student to prove a statement | 9 |
| 4 | Two of three sub-questions of four marks, set outside the textbook but within the syllabus, and meant to be challenging | 8 |
| 5 | One of two creative sub-questions of three marks | 3 |
The scheme also sets the balance of every paper: 40% easy questions, 40% medium and 20% hard. In Part I, 40% of the marks test application and 10% test skill; in Part II, application and skill take 30% and 20%. Geometry, in other words, leans more on drawing, construction and proof.
| Part I chapter | Marks | Part II chapter | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Linear equations in two variables | 12 | Similarity | 10 |
| Quadratic equations | 12 | Pythagoras theorem | 7 |
| Arithmetic progression | 8 | Circle | 12 |
| Financial planning | 8 | Geometric constructions | 7 |
| Probability | 8 | Co-ordinate geometry | 7 |
| Statistics | 12 | Trigonometry | 7 |
| Mensuration | 10 |
The scheme allows paper-setters to move up to two marks between chapters. Besides the 80 written marks, 20 marks are internal. Home assignments in each part, made up of at least five written activities, give 10, and a practical examination in each part, converted to a mark out of 10, gives the other 10. A student who cannot take the practical can sit a multiple-choice test in its place. Our maths home tutor in Amravati page and the national Class 10 maths page go further into the subject.
Most of each paper rewards practice on textbook-style problems. The last two questions do not. Question 4 is deliberately set outside the textbook, and Question 5 is creative. The scheme's examples for Question 5 include giving one's own view on a statement, drawing a figure from given information, completing a construction or a flow chart, making up a problem from a situation, open-ended questions, estimation and approximation, and reading a short mathematical passage.
Children who have only solved textbook exercises often freeze here. A tutor can prepare them by:
Ask any SSC maths tutor how they prepare for Questions 4 and 5. One who has read the scheme will describe it without prompting.
The same scheme gives term-wise topics for Standard IX. In Part I, the first term covers sets, real numbers and polynomials; the second term covers ratio and proportion, linear equations in two variables, financial planning and statistics. Schools may shift weightage by two marks. Linear equations and financial planning both come back in Standard X, so a gap left in Standard IX becomes a Standard X problem. A tutor who begins in Standard IX can plan both years as one course, with the school's term portions as the calendar.
The HSC list uses its own codes. English is 01 for everyone, and every student takes two compulsory subjects: Health and Physical Education (30) and Environment Education and Water Security (31). Language codes change from the SSC: Marathi is 02, Hindi 04 and Urdu 05. After that the options depend on the stream and on what each junior college offers:
Codes 40 and 88 are different courses with similar names, so tell any maths tutor which one your child takes. For HSC science subjects, see our Amravati physics, chemistry and biology pages.
A State Board student often keeps one tutor for Standards IX and X, or for both junior-college years, so choose a route that will still work in the hot months and the monsoon. From our area research:
The zone pages go further: Ambapeth and the Old City, Rajapeth and Kanwar Nagar, Camp and Gadge Nagar, Dastur Nagar and Yashoda Nagar and Saturna and Badnera. The Amravati home tuition guide covers the whole city, and where weekly travel will not hold, see online tuition in Amravati.
Junior-college science pulls a student in two directions. HSC papers reward complete written answers, diagrams and practical work; entrance papers reward speed on objective questions. Students in Maharashtra can sit MHT-CET, conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, whose notices list separate PCM and PCB groups; read its syllabus only on cetcell.mahacet.org. JEE (Main) and NEET (UG) are run by the National Testing Agency. A good tutor keeps board-style writing alive even as objective practice grows. See JEE home tutor in Amravati and NEET home tutor in Amravati, and for other boards, CBSE and ICSE and ISC tutors in Amravati.
Pages for the same board in other cities read different parts of its documents: HSC maths and economics in Pune, physics and accountancy in Mumbai, HSC chemistry in Nashik and SSC science and languages in Solapur. The Nagpur, Pune, Solapur and Kolhapur hubs list tutors in those cities.

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee. At the demo, ask how many sessions a week they would plan for this standard and how the months before the preliminary exams would run. The pricing guide and home tuition fees in Amravati explain the factors.
To begin, share the standard, the subjects and language papers (with codes if you have them), the medium, your colony with a landmark, and your free hours, then book a free demo class. Yes, the State Board's website lists an Amravati Divisional Board among its divisions, next to others such as Pune and Nagpur. The SSC and HSC papers are common across Maharashtra. For forms, hall tickets and notices, families usually deal with the school or college, and mahahsscboard.in has the official details.
SSC Mathematics in Standard X is marked as two written papers, Part I and Part II, of 40 marks each, plus 20 internal marks. Each paper lasts two hours and prints 60 marks of questions with internal choice. The internal marks come from home assignments and a practical in each part.
In the board's scheme, the heaviest SSC maths chapters are linear equations, quadratic equations and statistics in Part I, and circle in Part II, each with 12 marks with option. Similarity and mensuration follow with 10 each. Setters may move up to two marks between chapters, so no chapter is safe to skip.
Questions 4 and 5 are the hardest parts of each SSC maths paper, set beyond the usual textbook exercises. Question 4 has challenging four-mark problems from outside the textbook but within the syllabus. Question 5 is creative, such as framing a problem, completing a construction or estimating. Practise changed versions of solved examples.
An Amravati SSC student should know the codes of their own language papers before Standard IX. On the board's list, first languages include Marathi 01, Hindi 02, English 03 and Urdu 04, and composite papers include Marathi-Urdu AC and Hindi-Urdu BC. Tell the tutor these codes with your request.
Yes, a tutor can explain a hard idea in Marathi if that helps, as long as answers are practised in the school's medium. In semi-English schools, maths and science are taught in English. A two-column list of terms, Marathi and English, helps a child move between the two with confidence.
The HSC brings new subject codes and new compulsory subjects for an Amravati student. Everyone takes English 01, Health and Physical Education 30 and Environment Education and Water Security 31. Science students add Physics 54, Chemistry 55, Biology 56 or maths 40, depending on the junior college's combinations.
Judge a State Board tutor in Amravati by whether they ask about language codes, the medium and, at HSC, maths 40 or 88. A tutor who knows the SSC maths scheme will mention the two 40-mark papers and the five-question pattern. Ask how they prepare for the creative last question.
