Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

In Amravati, the word "maths" covers several quite different exams. A Standard IX pupil in a semi-English class learns maths in English while history is still in Marathi. A junior college student faces the HSC Mathematics and Statistics paper and, a few weeks later, an entrance test. A CBSE or ICSE child down the same lane is marked in yet another way. So the useful question is not "who teaches maths nearby?" but "who has taught this paper, in this medium, recently?" Send NXTutors the class, board, medium and locality, and we suggest two or three maths tutors who match all four. Each fee is shown before you meet anyone, and the opening class is a free demo.
Two named authors stand behind this guide. Abhinandan Tiwary wrote the advice on CBSE and ICSE maths in Class 10; Ajay Vatsyayan wrote the parts on ISC, IB and IGCSE. State Board details are taken from the board's own scheme documents. Locate your child's course below and use the right-hand column when you first speak to a tutor.
| Course | Set by | How it is assessed | Ask the tutor |
|---|---|---|---|
| SSC Mathematics, Standards IX–X | Maharashtra State Board (MSBSHSE) | Two parts, each written as a 40-mark paper; 20 marks assessed in school | How will you split the week between Part I and Part II? |
| HSC Mathematics and Statistics, Standard XII | State Board | One 80-mark paper in four sections, three of them with choice | Which chapters would you never let my child skip? |
| CBSE Class 10, Standard or Basic | CBSE | An 80-mark board paper plus 20 internal marks | Which level suits my child, and why? |
| CBSE Class 12 | CBSE | 80 marks over 38 compulsory questions; 20 internal | In which month does calculus start? |
| ICSE and ISC | CISCE | An 80-mark written paper and 20 marks of internal or project work | Are you teaching from my child's exam-year syllabus? |
| IB Diploma; Cambridge IGCSE | IB; Cambridge | IB timed papers with an exploration; IGCSE at Core or Extended | When did you last teach this exact course? |
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education runs the SSC at the end of Standard X and the HSC at the end of Standard XII, and its site lists an Amravati divisional board among its divisions. Its evaluation scheme for Standards IX and X divides Mathematics (code 71) into two parts. Each part is a separate 40-mark paper, and the school assesses a further 20 marks. A high score on one paper does not pull up a weak score on the other, so each needs its own steady attention.
What a sensible tutor does from the first month of Standard IX:
Confirm the current scheme on the board's site before fixing a plan. Other SSC and HSC subjects are on our Maharashtra Board home tutor in Amravati page.
Many Amravati families describe their child's class as Marathi medium, semi-English or English medium. In a semi-English class, maths and science are taught from English books while other subjects stay in Marathi. Marathi is the city's main language and Urdu the second, with Hindi, Marwari and Sindhi also spoken at home. A child may therefore understand "fraction" or "ratio" in one language and be expected to write it in another.
A good tutor explains the idea in whichever language lands, then writes the textbook's term and uses it from then on. Word problems need extra care, since a slow English reader can lose marks on the sentence, not the sum. In the demo, ask the tutor to read one aloud with your child. Tell us both the school medium and the home language.
Once Standard X is over, State Board students in Amravati generally move to a junior college for Standards XI and XII. The board's scheme for Mathematics and Statistics (code 40), Standard XII, used by both Arts and Science students, gives a mark value to every chapter. Counting the options, Part I and Part II each offer 56 marks, 112 in total. Grouped by weight, with the part shown in brackets:
The scheme also sets the balance of thinking: roughly 30% knowledge, 42% understanding and 28% application and skill, with theory questions capped at 15%. In practice that means lots of solved problems and only a little memorised proof. Two threads repay regular weekly time across both junior college years: vectors followed by lines and planes, and the run of calculus from differentiation through to differential equations.
The 80-mark written paper is arranged in four sections, and every one deserves a full rehearsal before the exam:
Calculators are not permitted, though log tables are, so careful arithmetic must be practised from the start of Standard XI. The built-in choice can tempt a student to abandon whole chapters; a careful tutor agrees, child by child, which topics can safely be treated as optional and which cannot.
For 2026-27 the CBSE board paper is worth 80 marks over 14 NCERT chapters, designed as in the previous session. Algebra carries 20 marks and geometry 15. Trigonometry brings 12, statistics and probability 11, and mensuration 10. Real numbers and coordinate geometry are worth 6 each. Planning by these weights gives quadratic equations and arithmetic progressions much more time than the smallest chapters.
Calculators are not allowed. Standard and Basic cover the same chapters at different depths, and Basic leans far more on recall, so any child who might want maths in Class 11 should take Standard. CBSE now also offers an optional second Class 10 exam where a student may try to improve up to three subjects, maths among them; CBSE announces its schedule. For more, see our Class 10 maths tutor page, the board-year planner and the Class 10 maths preparation guide.
Plenty of Standard XII students in Amravati sit the HSC and at least one entrance test in the same season. Many State Board students take MHT-CET, which the State CET Cell conducts for professional courses; read its syllabus and pattern only on cetcell.mahacet.org. The National Testing Agency conducts JEE Main. In 2026, Paper 1 had 75 questions for 300 marks; 25 were maths, of which 20 were multiple-choice and 5 needed a numerical answer, with +4 for a correct response and −1 for a wrong one. Read the newest bulletin on jeemain.nta.nic.in before you plan.
A single tutor can carry all three if the week has two kinds of session. One ends with a complete board-style answer, written out and marked. The other is a timed set of objective questions, with every mistake noted and solved again later. Amravati has fewer teachers for these courses than for the State Board, so name the course in your first message. If nobody suitable lives within reach, an online specialist is the usual answer.
A newcomer needs an address they can follow and a time that holds week after week. Tutors for every part of the city are listed on our Amravati page.
| Locality | Setting | Directions | Agree first |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ambapeth | One of the three old peths; several generations often live in one house | Lane, house number and which side of Ambapeth Chowk you are on | One room that stays quiet for the whole hour |
| Rukhmini Nagar | A residential colony near the centre, between Rajapeth and the Camp side | Write both spellings, Rukhmini and Rukmini, plus the chowk you turn at | A start time that leaves room for a snack after school |
| Rajapeth | An old peth around a junction almost everyone knows | Begin from Rajapeth Chowk, then the turn, lane and building | Which weekday stays free of coaching tests |
| Sharda Nagar | Just west of Rajapeth, next to a colony with a very similar name | Say Sharda Nagar, not Sharda Vihar, and give a shared landmark | Shorter, more frequent lessons if school days are long |
| Shankar Nagar | Family houses and flats on quiet lanes in the south of central Amravati | Write Amravati and the lane, as other cities have a Shankar Nagar too | Starting in Classes 6 to 8, before SSC pressure builds |
| Camp | Offices, shops and homes just north-east of the centre | The road, a known point such as Panchavati Chowk, and the house name | A fixed evening once office hours end |
Local advice is gathered on the zone pages for Ambapeth and the Old City, Rajapeth and Kanwar Nagar and Camp and Gadge Nagar, and the Amravati home tuition guide walks through the whole city.
Amravati summers are hot from March to June, and the monsoon runs from July. Both affect tuition more than families expect, so agree the plan in the first week rather than in May.
Ask the tutor to take the chapter your child's school is on this week, and keep the latest marked test on the table. Four signs tell you a lot:
If the fit is wrong, tell us and another tutor from your shortlist gives a demo; switching tutor later is free too. Our demo class checklist for parents has more signs to watch, and the home tutor or online tutor article helps if a mixed plan suits better.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fees, which usually depend on the paper, the tutor's experience with it, how far they must travel within Amravati and how many sessions you want each week. You see every fee on the shortlist before the demo, and our Amravati home tuition fees guide suggests questions to ask.
Six details are plenty: the class; the exact course, such as SSC, HSC Mathematics and Statistics or CBSE Standard; any entrance test ahead; the school medium and the home language; your locality and a landmark; and the days and hours that are free. We reply with two or three maths tutors and their fees, and you choose one for the free demo. If nobody suitable can come at that hour, an online or mixed plan is the fallback; our online tutors for Amravati page explains how it works. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works). Our office is in Sector 66, Gurugram, and online lessons reach all of India.

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each Amravati maths tutor sets their own fee, and you see it on the shortlist before the demo. Ask which paper they taught most recently.
Send the class, the exact course, any entrance test, the school medium, the home language, your locality with a landmark and your free hours. With those details NXTutors suggests two or three maths tutors, each with a fee shown in advance. The first class with the tutor you choose is a free demo, and switching later costs nothing.
Amravati SSC students need two plans because the State Board sets each maths part as its own 40-mark paper, with 20 more marks assessed in school. A strong score in one part cannot cover a weak one. A tutor should give each part a fixed weekly day from the first month of Standard IX.
A tutor helps a semi-English student by explaining the idea in Marathi or another home language first, then fixing the English term from the textbook. Word problems get extra time, because slow reading can cost marks even when the method is right. Reading one problem aloud together in each lesson builds speed and confidence.
Amravati HSC students should give Vectors the most time, as it carries 12 marks with options. Trigonometric Functions, Line and Plane and Indefinite Integration bring 10 each, and Differentiation and Applications of Derivatives 9 each. With the built-in choices counted, Part I and Part II offer 56 marks apiece, or 112 in total.
Log tables are allowed in the HSC Mathematics and Statistics paper, but calculators are not. The board also marks only the first attempt at each multiple-choice question, so the chosen letter must be written once and clearly. Amravati students should practise careful written arithmetic from the start of Standard XI rather than leaving it for revision.
An Amravati student can prepare for all three with one tutor by running two kinds of session each week. One ends with a full board answer, written and marked. The other is a timed objective set, with every mistake logged and solved again. Read MHT-CET details on cetcell.mahacet.org and JEE Main details on the NTA site.
An Amravati CBSE Class 10 student who might take maths in Class 11 should choose Standard. Both levels share 14 chapters and an 80-mark board paper, but Basic relies far more on recall. Algebra carries 20 marks, geometry 15 and trigonometry 12, so those chapters deserve the most weekly time.
Amravati summers are hot from March to June, so most families move maths lessons to the early morning or late evening in those months. Agree the summer timing in the first week, not in May. These months also suit a short revision of last year's basics before a child starts Standard IX or XI.
From the 2027 exam, ISC maths for Amravati students is one 80-mark paper with no choice between the old Sections B and C. Vectors, three-dimensional geometry, linear programming and probability become compulsory. Calculus alone carries 35 marks, and two projects of ten marks each add another 20.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
