What home tuition costs in Nagpur

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Example only, not a quote: one subject, one-hour classes, 4 weeks a month. Your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.
Classes a week Classes a month At ₹800 an hour At ₹2,500 an hour
2 8 ₹6,400 a month ₹20,000 a month
3 12 ₹9,600 a month ₹30,000 a month

Why one-to-one home tuition costs more than group coaching

In a coaching batch, one teacher's hour is shared by many students, so each family pays for a part of it. At home the whole hour is your child's: the pace, the questions and the homework check follow one student, and the tutor's travel to your home is part of the working day. A small group of two or three children from the same society usually costs less per child, with less individual attention.

Home tuition in Nagpur: a parent's guide from Dharampeth to Hudkeshwar

Nagpur is laid out like a wheel. At the hub sit Sitabuldi, the old market heart of the city, and the leafy avenues of Civil Lines; around them run the Ring Road and, further out, the Outer Ring Road, with the spokes named after the towns they lead to: Wardha Road, Hingna Road, Katol Road, Koradi Road, Bhandara Road. Two metro lines cross at Sitabuldi, the Orange Line running north to south and the Aqua Line east to west. Whether your home sits near a station, on a spoke road or out in a plotted layout decides how a tutor gets to you and which hour suits.

How does NXTutors match a Nagpur family with a tutor?

Fill in one request: the class, the board (and for the state board, the medium), the subjects, your locality and the road it sits off, the days you are free, whether you want lessons at home, online or both, and a budget. We come back with two or three tutors who fit. Each profile shows the tutor's fee before you commit, the first lesson with your chosen tutor is a free demo, and moving to a different tutor later costs nothing. In Nagpur, four questions shape the list:

  • Is there a station near you? Homes close to the Orange or Aqua Line can draw on tutors who travel by metro; homes on Koradi Road, Hudkeshwar Road or out past the Ring Road need a tutor with a two-wheeler or one who lives nearby.
  • Which spoke road? A tutor who already teaches along Wardha Road is easier to keep than one crossing the city from Katol Road at rush hour.
  • Apartment gate or open door? Plotted-layout houses usually open straight onto the street; apartment buildings and government colonies keep a visitor register.
  • State board or national? SSC and HSC students need a tutor who knows the state syllabus; CBSE and ICSE students need someone who knows theirs. We match the class and board together.

The demo is an ordinary lesson on whatever chapter is current. If it does not work out, say so and the next tutor is lined up.

Nagpur, zone by zone

The tutor list for Nagpur is drawn from 1 tutor profile, and 27 localities have their own pages. Each page shows tutors from that locality first, then from the rest of its zone, then from the wider city and online. For planning home visits we divide Nagpur into five zones: Central West Nagpur, Hingna Road and Ring Road, Wardha Road, North Nagpur and East and South-East Nagpur. The groupings are ours, drawn for tutor travel, not municipal boundaries.

Central West Nagpur: Dharampeth, Civil Lines and the Aqua Line

Dharampeth is the established centre of the west side, apartment buildings and family homes beside busy shopping streets, with Gokulpeth a compact pocket of flats and older houses among shops and cafés next door. Shankar Nagar is densely built and has its own Aqua Line station, and Bajaj Nagar is a settled residential neighbour. Laxmi Nagar is mostly three-bedroom apartments and family homes near the Ring Road. Ramdaspeth is known for larger apartments among offices and restaurants, and Dhantoli, once home to the treasurer of the Raja of Nagpur, is now full of clinics. Civil Lines grew in the British period around wide avenues and bungalows, and the building where the state legislature holds its winter session stands here.

Sitabuldi is where the Orange and Aqua Lines meet. The Aqua Line opened west from Sitabuldi on 28 January 2020, with Shankar Nagar Square and LAD Square on North Ambazari Road; Congress Nagar on the Orange Line lies in Dhantoli, and Zero Mile Freedom Park and Kasturchand Park have served Civil Lines since 21 August 2021. Street parking is tight near markets and clinics, so tutors on the metro or a two-wheeler arrive more easily than those in a car.

Hingna Road and Ring Road: planned layouts in the south-west

Pratap Nagar lies along the Ring Road, with plotted-layout homes and apartment buildings in pockets such as Padole Layout and Gayatri Nagar. Trimurti Nagar is a planned locality with wide roads and a regular layout between the Ring Road and Hingna Road, shops gathered around its square. Jaitala, reached by Jaitala Road from Hingna Road near Parsodi, has a good share of independent houses alongside newer apartment buildings. Beyond the zone, Hingna Road carries on as a state highway to the industrial estate at Hingna.

The Aqua Line runs along Hingna Road to its western end at Lokmanya Nagar, with Subhash Nagar station in Parsodi and Rachana Ring Road Junction north-west of Trimurti Nagar Square. Phase II of the metro, now under construction, includes an extension from Lokmanya Nagar towards Hingna. The wide streets make parking simple and many houses open straight to the road; the Ring Road and Hingna Road fill with commuters in the evening, so leave a margin for tutors crossing from the centre.

Wardha Road: apartments along the Orange Line to the airport

Khamla is mostly two- and three-bedroom apartments with some houses, close to Wardha Road and the airport side of the city. Sonegaon sits along Wardha Road beside airport land, with flats and independent homes. Somalwada is dominated by ready apartment buildings, next to Manish Nagar, a popular locality of flats and houses linked to Wardha Road by a railway underbridge. Besa, stretching along Besa-Pipla Road, is growing fast with apartments, villas, houses and plots in newer layouts. Further south along the same corridor lie the airport and the MIHAN area.

This is the zone the metro serves most directly. The Orange Line first opened on 8 March 2019 between Sitabuldi and Khapri, running along Wardha Road; Ujjwal Nagar, also called Somalwada, serves Manish Nagar, Besa and Beltarodi, and Airport station links to the terminal by feeder bus. Apartment gates keep visitor registers, so share the tutor's name early. Wardha Road is heaviest in the morning and evening peaks, and the railway crossing near Manish Nagar is slow at busy hours.

North Nagpur: Sadar, Seminary Hills and the Koradi side

Sadar is a busy mixed locality north of the centre, with a commercial high street along Mount Road and two-bedroom flats and older houses in the side streets. Seminary Hills takes its name from a seminary whose classes began in 1851; its wooded slopes hold government offices and Air Force establishments beside residential colonies. Gittikhadan runs along Katol Road with plotted-layout houses and flats. Mankapur is crossed by Chhindwara Road and the Ring Road, Koradi Road is a housing belt heading out towards Koradi with many plotted layouts, and Zingabai Takli is mainly two-bedroom flats and houses near Godhani Road.

Kasturchand Park and Zero Mile Freedom Park on the Orange Line serve the southern edge near Sadar, and the line's northern section along Kamptee Road opened on 11 December 2022, but most of this zone is beyond walking reach of a station. Tutors usually come by two-wheeler, car or auto, and Godhani railway station serves the Zingabai Takli side. Seminary Hills colonies have gated entrances, so tell security in advance; plotted-layout houses on Koradi Road and Katol Road let the tutor park at the door.

East and South-East Nagpur: Bhandara Road to Hudkeshwar

Nandanvan is a large, densely populated residential locality with flats and family homes, crossed by Taj Bagh Road and bordered by the Middle Ring Road. Wathoda is a developing area of houses, newer apartment complexes and plots near Kharbi. Wardhaman Nagar lines Bhandara Road near Lakadganj, with homes and apartment buildings among shops and businesses. Manewada, part of the Nagpur South area, has flats and plotted-layout houses along Besa Road, and Hudkeshwar, on the south-eastern edge, is mostly two- and three-bedroom apartments along Hudkeshwar Road, with a growing mix of shops and services.

The Aqua Line's eastern section from Sitabuldi to Prajapati Nagar, at Old Pardi Naka, opened to the public on 12 December 2022, with Vaishnodevi Square in Padole Nagar among its stations. Manewada and Hudkeshwar have no metro, so tutors come by road. Bhandara Road carries heavy goods traffic, so give lessons near Wardhaman Nagar a buffer and keep them outside peak hours; in the larger new complexes around Wathoda, register the tutor at the gate first.

Which boards do Nagpur tutors teach?

Nagpur's students divide mainly between the Maharashtra State Board and the national boards. Tell us the board and, for state-board students, the medium of instruction, so the tutor teaches in the language and style the school uses.

Maharashtra State Board

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education sets the SSC examination at the end of Class 10 and the HSC examination at the end of Class 12. A tutor for this path teaches from the state textbooks the school follows, keeps up with school tests and practicals, and uses the board's own question papers for practice. Take patterns and timetables only from the board's official notices.

CBSE

CBSE builds each paper on the NCERT textbooks, and much of it now asks students to use an idea, not just recall it: case-based questions, assertion–reason items and problems in unfamiliar contexts. A tutor should teach closely from NCERT, practise with the board's sample papers and marking scheme, and make the student set out every step so method marks are not lost.

ICSE, ISC and international boards

CISCE's ICSE in Class 10 and ISC in Class 12 reward complete written answers across a wide syllabus, with set literature in English, so steady revision of every chapter and regular timed writing matter most. Families following the IB or Cambridge IGCSE can combine a local tutor with online lessons from specialists elsewhere in India.

What does a tutor work on at each stage?

Classes 1 to 8

Younger children need sound habits more than speed: reading carefully, quick number sense, fractions and early algebra, and tidy, complete written work. A tutor at the table once or twice a week usually covers it, and helps most when they keep in step with what the school is teaching that month.

Classes 9 and 10

Maths and Science step up sharply in Class 9, and the SSC, CBSE or ICSE board year builds straight on it, so fix gaps early. From winter the work shifts to full papers under time. Our Class 10 Maths preparation plan and Class 10 Science notes lay out the steps.

Classes 11 and 12

For HSC, CBSE and ISC students alike, the senior years call for a subject specialist rather than one tutor for everything. Science students tend to struggle with Physics and Maths, commerce students with Accountancy. Read our Class 12 Physics strategies and Class 12 calculus and algebra guide.

Which subjects can a Nagpur tutor teach?

Tutors on NXTutors cover Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, Computer Science, Accountancy, Economics and Business Studies, with Marathi and Hindi among the languages, and many teach all subjects to primary classes. Nagpur has its own pages for maths home tutors, science home tutors, physics home tutors and chemistry home tutors. Senior Chemistry splits into numerical physical chemistry, mechanism-driven organic and memory-heavy inorganic, and our Class 12 organic and inorganic chemistry guide shows how to balance them.

Can a home tutor help a Nagpur student with JEE or NEET?

Yes, as a support to coaching, not a substitute. The tutor is most useful in three jobs:

  • Working through the backlog. Unsolved coaching sheets and wrong test answers, taken a batch at a time each week.
  • NCERT for both goals. Class 11 and 12 NCERT content underlies the board papers and the entrance tests, so one revision plan covers both.
  • Lifting the weak subject. Concentrated time on the subject dragging the score down pays more than equal time for all three.

NTA holds JEE Main in two sessions in the first half of the year, and those who qualify can sit JEE Advanced. NEET UG takes place once a year, with Biology carrying half of the marks, so the NCERT Biology books need thorough reading. Use only that year's official information bulletin for dates. Our topic-wise plans cover JEE Maths, JEE Physics, JEE Chemistry and NEET Biology from NCERT. On days when coaching ends late, a short online doubt session keeps things moving.

Home or online tuition in Nagpur?

Having the tutor in the room suits younger children and subjects where the method counts, such as Maths and Chemistry numericals. Online lessons open up tutors from all over India, which helps with senior specialist papers and the international boards. In Nagpur, the roads and the metro set the balance:

  • Two lines, one interchange. The Orange Line runs from Automotive Square in the north to Khapri in the south, and the Aqua Line from Lokmanya Nagar in the west to Prajapati Nagar in the east, crossing at Sitabuldi.
  • Phase II is being built. The second phase, now under construction, includes extensions towards Hingna, towards Kanhan beyond Automotive Square and towards Transport Nagar, so some outer localities will gain stations later.
  • Ring roads and highways. NH 44 and NH 53 pass through the city, and the Ring Road and Outer Ring Road tie the spoke roads together, which suits tutors on two-wheelers.
  • Peak hours on the spokes. Wardha Road, Hingna Road, Katol Road and Bhandara Road are all slower at office hours, so lessons set just after the rush run on time.

Plenty of families settle on one or two home lessons a week with a short online session for doubts, all with one tutor. Our home tutor versus online tutor comparison weighs up the two.

How much does home tuition cost in Nagpur?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fees, and three things usually account for the difference:

  • Class and board. Primary lessons usually cost less than HSC, ISC or entrance-level work.
  • Specialism. Entrance problem solving and international-board teaching are priced higher than school revision.
  • Distance across the wheel. A tutor riding from Koradi Road to Besa at a busy hour may build that in; one from your own zone usually does not.

You see every shortlisted fee before the demo, and we keep to the budget you give us. The pricing guide has fees by class and subject, and home tuition fees in Nagpur covers the city in detail.

How should you judge a tutor at the demo?

The profile puts a tutor on your shortlist; the demo tells you whether to keep them. Look for five things:

  1. A quick check first. Did the tutor test what your child already knows before explaining anything?
  2. Hands-on work. Was your child solving and writing for most of the lesson?
  3. Board knowledge. Can the tutor explain how the SSC, CBSE or ICSE paper is set?
  4. A plan ahead. What will the next month cover, and how will progress show?
  5. Reliable travel. By metro, two-wheeler or bus, from where, and at what time each week?

For an apartment building or government colony, give the tutor's name to the gate before the demo; for a plotted-layout house, share the layout name, plot number and a map pin. Hold lessons in a shared room with an adult at home. Our parents' demo class checklist and guide to choosing a board and stream can help.

When should tuition start in the school year?

CBSE's session opens in April, and state-board schools in Maharashtra usually reopen in June. The year then falls into a familiar pattern:

  • April to June: a clean start for CBSE and ICSE students, and summer weeks for SSC and HSC students to repair last year's gaps before school reopens.
  • July to September: regular weekly lessons next to school, with unit tests and first-term exams.
  • October to December: completing the syllabus, then preliminary and pre-board exams around the new year.
  • January to March: the SSC, HSC and other board papers after a run of practice papers; the first JEE Main session usually falls here as well.
  • April to May: the second JEE Main session, then JEE Advanced and NEET UG.

Confirm every date from the official notice for the year. An early start gives the whole year; a winter start still helps, with the emphasis on papers and technique.
