Home Tuition Fees in Nagpur (2026): What You Can Control
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. The band is the same whether you live in an apartment in Ramdaspeth, a plotted-layout house in Pratap Nagar, a flat off Wardha Road in Somalwada or a home on Besa Road in Manewada. Each tutor sets their own fee, and NXTutors shows it to you before the free demo class.
This guide is built around one idea: the hourly rate is only one of the numbers in a tuition budget, and often not the one you can change. It separates what you control from what you do not, prices four common Nagpur situations week by week, explains how the board and your part of the city affect the plan, and ends with a short timeline from the demo to the first month's review.
What is fixed, and what can you control?
A family rarely negotiates the hourly rate itself; tutors set their own fees, and the shortlist shows them in advance. What you can shape is almost everything else.
| Part of the budget | Who decides | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Hourly fee | The tutor | Compare the two or three quotes on your shortlist before the demo. |
| Hours a week | You, with the tutor's advice | Match the hours to the goal, not to a habit of daily classes. |
| Number of subjects with a tutor | You | Cover the subjects that need help; leave the rest to school and self-study. |
| Home, online or a mix | You | Keep home visits for the subject that needs hands-on help; move a specialist subject online. |
| How long the plan runs | You | Set an end point, such as the next unit test, the pre-boards or the SSC or HSC exams. |
Four common situations, priced week by week
The table prices four situations Nagpur parents often bring to us. Weekly hours are planning examples; the two cost columns show each plan at both ends of the band, so you can see the range before any quotes arrive.
| Situation | Tutors | Hours a week | Weekly cost at ₹800 an hour | Weekly cost at ₹2,500 an hour |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Class 6 student needing homework support in maths and English | One | 2 | ₹1,600 | ₹5,000 |
| Class 10 SSC or CBSE student in maths and science | One or two | 4 | ₹3,200 | ₹10,000 |
| Class 12 HSC or CBSE science student in physics, chemistry and maths | Two or three | 6 | ₹4,800 | ₹15,000 |
| Class 11 student starting JEE or NEET preparation alongside school | One or two | 4 | ₹3,200 | ₹10,000 |
The first row usually sits nearer the left-hand column. The Class 12 and entrance rows sit toward the upper end, so plan nearer the right-hand figure, and remember that a specialist for JEE Advanced can charge more than ₹2,500 an hour. For the full commitment, multiply the weekly figure by the number of weeks you plan to continue. More on what shapes a quote is in the NXTutors pricing guide.
Does the board change the quote?
Nagpur families study under the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, with the SSC at the end of Class 10 and the HSC at the end of Class 12, as well as CBSE, ICSE and ISC, and the international IB and IGCSE programmes. The board on its own seldom moves a rate much. Two things do:
- How senior the class is. Up to Class 10, many tutors teach State Board, CBSE and ICSE students, so you have more quotes to compare. From Class 11, many families bring in one tutor per science subject.
- How specialised the programme is. IB and IGCSE are assessed in their own way, and the pool of tutors who know them closely is smaller; quotes tend to sit high in the band, and an online specialist is often worth a look.
If your child is changing board, for example from the State Board to CBSE for Class 11, set aside extra hours in the first few weeks to close the gap.
Metro line or main road: does your part of Nagpur change the cost?
Location does not set the fee. What it changes is how many tutors can get to you without a long trip, which changes how many quotes you can compare. Nagpur Metro's Orange Line runs north to south, down Wardha Road in the south, and its Aqua Line runs east to west, meeting the Orange Line at Sitabuldi. Phase II extensions are being built. Our Nagpur tuition guide covers every locality in detail.
| Zone | Metro and rail tutors use | What it means for your shortlist |
|---|---|---|
| Central West Nagpur | Aqua Line at Shankar Nagar Square and LAD Square; Orange Line at Congress Nagar and Rahate Colony | Tutors from both lines can reach you, so shortlists draw widely. Dharampeth, Laxmi Nagar |
| Hingna Road and Ring Road | Aqua Line at Subhash Nagar and Rachana Ring Road Junction, then an auto | Metro plus auto for tutors from the centre; neighbours often ride over. Trimurti Nagar, Pratap Nagar |
| Wardha Road | Orange Line at Jaiprakash Nagar, Ujjwal Nagar and Airport | Among the easiest zones for tutors who do not drive. Somalwada, Manish Nagar |
| North Nagpur | Orange Line at Kasturchand Park and Gaddi Godam Square, then an auto; Godhani railway station on the Zingabai Takli side | Most tutors come by road, so nearby tutors matter more. Sadar, Mankapur |
| East and South-East Nagpur | Aqua Line at Ambedkar Square, Vaishnodevi Square and Prajapati Nagar; no metro in the south-east | Road travel for Manewada and Hudkeshwar, so online tutors widen choice. Nandanvan, Manewada |
Wherever you live, a fixed weekly slot set away from the evening rush on the Ring Road, Wardha Road or Hingna Road keeps classes starting on time, and a tutor who starts on time delivers the hours you are paying for.
When is a higher quote the cheaper choice?
- When a Class 12 student needs depth in one science subject and a generalist would need more hours to reach the same point.
- When earlier tutors have not moved the results and board-specific experience is the missing piece.
- When the goal is JEE or NEET, where specialist knowledge matters more than the hourly rate.
- When an online specialist replaces a long cross-city trip that would limit how many classes fit into the week.
The lower part of the band usually suits junior classes and steady practice in a subject the child already follows, where regular attendance matters more than specialist depth.
A timeline from demo to first review
- Before the demo: list the class, board, subjects and weekly hours you can afford at both ends of the band. Compare the fees on your shortlist.
- At the free demo: watch how the tutor explains, checks understanding and sets practice. The checklist for demo classes sets out what to watch for.
- Before the first paid class: agree the slot, what happens after a cancellation, the rate for extra classes before exams, and whether payment is monthly in advance or after classes are held.
- After four weeks: review progress against the goal. If it is on track, keep or reduce the hours; if not, talk to the tutor before adding more.
- If the fit is wrong: ask for a different tutor; switching is free on NXTutors and comes with another free demo.
How NXTutors can help
Share your locality in Nagpur along with the class, board and subject. NXTutors replies with two or three matched tutors, listing those who live closest to you first, followed by tutors elsewhere in your zone, the wider city and, where it helps, online tutors from across India. Every fee is on show before the demo, that first class costs nothing, and changing tutor later is free. Anyone joining as a tutor goes through an ID check, explained on how we check tutors.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a home tutor cost in Nagpur?
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee, and you see it before the free demo class.
Is State Board tuition cheaper than CBSE tuition in Nagpur?
Usually not by itself. A Nagpur quote moves with the class, the subject and the tutor's experience. Up to Class 10, many tutors teach both boards, so you may see more quotes. HSC and CBSE classes in Classes 11 and 12 tend to be quoted higher.
How many hours a week does a Class 10 SSC student need?
Often about two hours a week for each subject that needs help, and more if the student is catching up. A student who needs maths and science might plan around four hours a week across one or two tutors. Discuss the plan at the free demo and review it after the first month.
Do tutors charge more to travel to Manewada or Koradi Road?
The band is the same citywide, and tutors set their own fees. What changes in areas without a metro, such as Manewada or Koradi Road, is how many tutors can get to you comfortably by road. NXTutors lists nearby tutors first and adds online tutors when the local choice is thin.
What should we agree with a Nagpur tutor before paying?
Four things: the weekly slot, what happens when either side cancels, the rate for extra classes before the SSC, HSC or board exams, and whether you pay monthly in advance or after classes are held. Agree a review point after four weeks, so the hours can be adjusted if progress stalls.
