What home tuition costs in Nagpur

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Economics tuition in Nagpur: unit by unit, board by board

Economics in Classes 11 and 12 is really several subjects sharing a name: statistics with tables and index numbers, microeconomics with its curves, macroeconomics with national income and money, and the long written answers on India's economy. A Nagpur student can be comfortable in one and lost in another, and the board decides how much each is worth. This page lays out the boards Nagpur students take, the units where marks usually leak, how a tutor reaches each part of the city, and what to check in a free demo. The national economics home tutor guide goes deeper into each board.

Which economics paper is your child working towards?

Our Nagpur city page describes students dividing mainly between the Maharashtra State Board and the national boards, and it also mentions families following the IB or Cambridge IGCSE. Each sets economics its own way.

Economics for Class 11–12 students in Nagpur: board, structure and what a tutor must know
BoardStructureThe tutor must know
Maharashtra State Board (HSC)The board's own paper from the state textbook; pattern in the board's official noticesThe state textbook, past HSC papers and the medium your child writes in
CBSE (030)Each year: 80 theory marks in two 40-mark parts, plus a 20-mark projectClass 11 statistics working and Class 12 macro numericals, step by step
ISC (856)80 theory marks (20 short-answer, 60 from five 12-mark questions) plus two 10-mark projectsHow to plan a complete 12-mark answer under time
Cambridge IGCSE (0455) or AS & A Level (9708)Multiple choice plus structured, data response and essay papersCambridge command words and essay planning
IB Diploma, SL or HLPapers 1 and 2; Paper 3 at HL; a three-commentary portfolioThe internal assessment criteria and the HL policy paper

For board-wide help across subjects, see our CBSE tutors in Nagpur and ICSE and ISC tutors in Nagpur pages.

What should a State Board economics tutor bring?

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education sets the HSC at the end of Class 12, and economics is taught from the board's own textbook. The board publishes and revises its paper pattern, so we leave that to its official notices. What matters for matching is the medium: a tutor teaching an English-medium student and one teaching in Marathi use different terms for the same idea, and definitions have to be written in the paper's language. Tell us the medium in the request, as the city page asks, and expect the tutor to practise from past HSC papers and keep step with the college's own tests.

Where do marks usually leak, unit by unit?

The CBSE 2026-27 curriculum gives the clearest weightings, so this table follows it. ISC students meet the same ideas in a different order, and HSC students should follow the state textbook's sequence.

CBSE economics units, their marks and the usual trouble
Unit (marks)Usual troubleThe fix
Class 11 Statistics for Economics (40)Untidy tables; results calculated but not interpretedTabulated working and one sentence on what each result means
Consumer's equilibrium and demand (14)Movement along a curve confused with a shift of itDraw both, label the cause of each
Producer behaviour and supply (14)Cost curves drawn in the wrong relationship to each otherBuild each curve from a small cost table
Perfect competition and price determination (8)Equilibrium shifts described without a diagramDiagram first, then two lines of explanation
Class 12 national income (10) and income determination (12)Wrong aggregate chosen; multiplier formula used without meaningA checklist for each aggregate; explain the multiplier in words
Money and banking (6), budget (6), balance of payments (6)Definitions blurred togetherShort, exact definitions learnt and tested weekly
Indian Economic Development (40)Long answers that list facts but make no argumentPoint, evidence and a one-line judgement in every answer

Here is the interpretation habit in miniature. A basket of goods costs ₹500 in the base year and ₹560 this year, so the price index is 560 ÷ 500 × 100, which is 112. Many students write 112 and move on. The full answer adds that prices of that basket have risen by 12% since the base year, and that a family whose income rose by less than 12% can now buy less than before. That one extra sentence is what turns a correct calculation into a complete answer, and a tutor should ask for it every time until the student writes it without prompting.

The 20-mark CBSE project needs early attention too: one project each session, 3,500 to 4,000 words, with a viva worth 8 marks. A tutor can explain the economics behind the student's chosen topic and rehearse the viva, but the research and writing must be the student's own. For a student still deciding on commerce or humanities, our Class 11 stream choice guide and Class 11 home tutor page help; both are written for Gurugram, but the choice works the same way in Nagpur.

What about IB and Cambridge economics?

The Nagpur hub suggests IB and IGCSE families combine a local tutor with online lessons from specialists elsewhere in India, and economics is a good fit for that. IB SL students sit Paper 1 (30%) and Paper 2 (40%) and submit a portfolio of three commentaries on news extracts (30%); HL students add a policy paper, Paper 3, and the weights become 20%, 30%, 30% and 20%. A tutor may teach the commentary skill on practice articles but must never write any part of the portfolio. At Cambridge, AS essays come in two parts while A Level essays are unstructured, so planning is the skill to practise.

Is economics a CUET subject?

NTA's CUET (UG) 2026 bulletin lists Economics / Business Economics (code 309) as a domain subject: 50 compulsory questions in 60 minutes on NCERT's Class 12 syllabus. HSC students should check that syllabus against the state textbook, and every applicant should read the bulletin for their own year. Speed with concepts and short calculations is what changes; a tutor adds it once board answers are secure.

How does a tutor reach your part of Nagpur?

Any family can request an economics tutor. We start with tutors who can reach your zone comfortably, then widen the search, and suggest online lessons when that is the better way to get the right person.

Nagpur zones: transport and timing for a weekly economics lesson
ZoneHow a tutor gets thereTiming note
Central West Nagpur, e.g. RamdaspethOrange and Aqua Lines meet at Sitabuldi; metro or two-wheeler is easiestStart before the evening shopping rush; allow extra time in Civil Lines on official event days
Hingna Road and Ring Road, e.g. Trimurti NagarAqua Line to Rachana Ring Road Junction or Subhash Nagar, then an autoBegin after the Ring Road evening peak
Wardha Road, e.g. Khamla and BesaOrange Line stations along the road; Jaiprakash Nagar for Khamla, Ujjwal Nagar for BesaWardha Road is heavy at morning and evening peaks
North Nagpur, e.g. SadarKasturchand Park or Zero Mile stations near Sadar; most homes by two-wheeler or autoParking near Mount Road is hard in the evening; arrive a little early
East and South-East Nagpur, e.g. ManewadaAqua Line in the east; Manewada and Hudkeshwar by road onlyPrefer a tutor living in the south-east

See every locality on our Nagpur home tuition page, and the Nagpur tuition guide for more on timing.

Should economics lessons be at home or online?

Home lessons suit Class 11 statistics, where a tutor beside the notebook catches slips as they happen, and students who drift on a screen. Online lessons suit diagram and essay work well, since both can be shared and marked on screen, and they are often the practical route for IB and Cambridge courses. A mix is common: one home lesson for numericals, one online lesson for written answers. Families in North Nagpur or the south-east, where the metro is thin, often find that an online midweek lesson saves the tutor a long ride and keeps the timetable steady. Our home or online tutor article sets out the choice.

What should the economics demo show?

  • Questions about board, class, medium (for HSC) and the units your child finds hardest.
  • Your child drawing and labelling a diagram, not watching one drawn.
  • One numerical solved in full, the way the board marks it.
  • A written answer pushed towards a judgement.
  • Clarity about coursework: help with method and viva, never writing it.
  • A practice task and a date to check it.

If it is not right, we arrange the next tutor on your shortlist; switching is free. Our demo class checklist lists more questions.

What does it cost, and how do you start?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fees, and each shortlisted fee is visible before the demo. See the Nagpur home tuition fees guide and the pricing guide.

Economics Home Tutor in Nagpur: common questions

Can you find an economics tutor for HSC students in Nagpur?

Families can request one. We look for tutors who teach from the State Board's economics textbook, practise with past HSC papers and teach in the medium your child writes in. The board publishes and revises its own paper pattern, so take current details from its official notices rather than older guides.

Which part of CBSE Class 11 economics is hardest?

For many students it is Statistics for Economics, worth 40 of the 80 theory marks, because tables and index numbers look unfamiliar. The working is arithmetic, not advanced maths, and the curriculum asks students to interpret results as well as calculate them. Tidy tabulated working and one line of interpretation usually fix it.

Is there IB economics tutoring in Nagpur?

You can request it. Our Nagpur city page suggests that IB and IGCSE families combine a local tutor with online lessons from specialists elsewhere in India. For IB economics, online lessons work well, since diagrams, news articles and commentary drafts can all be shared on screen. We match on SL or HL.

We live on Wardha Road. Will a tutor come by metro?

Often. The Orange Line runs along Wardha Road, so a tutor living near a station can usually reach Khamla, Somalwada, Manish Nagar or Besa with a short auto ride. The road itself is slow at morning and evening peaks, so lessons outside those hours tend to start on time.

How is ISC Economics marked?

ISC Economics has an 80-mark theory paper with a compulsory 20-mark Part I of short answers and a Part II where students answer five questions from eight, each worth 12, plus two 10-mark projects. Since most marks come from long answers, timed practice of full questions matters a great deal.

Does CUET test economics?

Economics / Business Economics is a domain subject in NTA's CUET (UG) 2026 bulletin, with 50 compulsory questions in 60 minutes on NCERT's Class 12 syllabus. HSC students should compare that syllabus with the state textbook. Check the bulletin for your year of application, because NTA publishes a new one each cycle.

How much does an economics tutor in Nagpur charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour, with Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET toward the upper end; IB HL specialists can charge more. Board, travel and the number of weekly lessons also shape the fee. You see every shortlisted fee before the free demo.
