What home tuition costs in Moradabad

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Example only, not a quote: one subject, one-hour classes, 4 weeks a month. Your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.
Classes a week Classes a month At ₹800 an hour At ₹2,500 an hour
2 8 ₹6,400 a month ₹20,000 a month
3 12 ₹9,600 a month ₹30,000 a month

Why one-to-one home tuition costs more than group coaching

In a coaching batch, one teacher's hour is shared by many students, so each family pays for a part of it. At home the whole hour is your child's: the pace, the questions and the homework check follow one student, and the tutor's travel to your home is part of the working day. A small group of two or three children from the same society usually costs less per child, with less individual attention.

Home tuition in Moradabad: a parent's map from Civil Lines to Katghar

Moradabad stands on the Ramganga in western Uttar Pradesh. The district's own site calls it Pital Nagri, the Brass City, after its brass handicraft trade, and the railway gives the city much of its shape: Moradabad Junction, where five lines meet, is the headquarters of a Northern Railway division. Civil Lines and Deputy Ganj form the centre just north of the junction. Kanth Road heads north-west past Ram Ganga Vihar, Deen Dayal Nagar, Ashiyana and Harthala; Delhi Road runs west through Buddhi Vihar, Majhola and the planned sectors of New Moradabad; and the older eastern quarter around Katghar leans towards the river. Children here sit UP Board, CBSE and CISCE papers, often on the same street. So the two questions that settle most searches are practical ones: which tutor can reach your door on the same evening every week, and what precise job should that tutor be given?

How does a request from a Moradabad family turn into a tutor at the door?

You send a few plain lines. Mention your child's class and the school's board, name the chapters or subjects that are going badly, give your colony along with a shop or crossing a newcomer could spot, list the hours left free once school is over, and say whether the tutor should come to the house, teach over video or do some of each. If you have a fee range in mind, add it so the shortlist stays realistic. NXTutors replies with two or three matched tutors. Every tutor's fee is on view before anyone comes over, and your opening lesson with the chosen tutor costs nothing: it is a free demo. Four details count for more in Moradabad than parents tend to expect:

  • Which main road you live off. Kanth Road, Delhi Road and the central belt around Civil Lines draw on different groups of tutors. A tutor living off your own road can usually keep a fixed weekday slot for a whole session without strain.
  • Phase, part, sector or block. Ram Ganga Vihar has two phases, Deen Dayal Nagar two parts, Ashiyana two scheme layouts and New Moradabad numbered sectors. House numbers repeat across them, so lead with the phase or sector.
  • Every spelling of the colony. Deputy Ganj is also written Diptiganj, Avantika as Awantika, Himgiri as Himigiri and Buddhi Vihar as Budhi Vihar. Give both forms, so a tutor searching on a phone lands at the right gate.
  • Board and language. A UP Board child answering in Hindi, a CBSE child writing in English and an ICSE student with prescribed literature texts each need a different style of lesson. Say which medium your child is most at ease in.

Use the demo for whatever chapter is open in the notebook this week, not a general chat. If it does not click, tell us, and the next tutor on the list gets a chance; a change of tutor later in the year is free too.

Moradabad in five zones

Moradabad shortlists are drawn from our pool of tutor profiles, and 18 Moradabad localities have their own page. The sequence of tutors on each page never changes: people living in that locality come first, then tutors who already travel there, then the rest of the zone, then Moradabad as a whole, and finally online tutors. For home visits we split the city into five zones, set out here from the centre outwards and ending on the river side: Civil Lines and Central Moradabad, Ram Ganga Vihar and Deen Dayal Nagar, Kanth Road (Ashiyana and Harthala), Delhi Road and New Moradabad and Old City and Katghar. The zones are our own grouping, drawn up to plan tutor journeys; they are not the municipal corporation's wards or the development authority's scheme boundaries.

Civil Lines and Central Moradabad: the administrative heart

Civil Lines was laid out in British times for senior officers and is still where many district offices stand. Family homes share its broad roads with offices and shops, and the city's century-old trees cluster here, around Company Baag. Deputy Ganj, which plenty of people write as Diptiganj, sits on the edge of Civil Lines and is older and more tightly built, with homes close to one another along narrower lanes. Jigar Colony lies a little further north, a calmer residential colony of family houses with Kanth Road and Avantika among the areas listed around it.

Moradabad Junction, opened in 1873, is just south of this belt; the Lucknow, Delhi, Ambala, Aligarh and Ramnagar lines all meet there, so tutors from nearly every direction pass close by on their way home. That gives central families the widest choice in the city, which is handy when you want one specialist for Class 12 Chemistry rather than a general tutor. The catch is the address. On a Civil Lines road, say whether the house sits behind a shared entrance; in Deputy Ganj, give both spellings and a shop at the corner; in Jigar Colony, send a map pin with the lane, because several side lanes look alike.

Ram Ganga Vihar and Deen Dayal Nagar: four colonies side by side off Kanth Road

Ram Ganga Vihar is a large residential colony in north-west Moradabad, split into Phase 1 and Phase 2, and it has grown into a large family neighbourhood. Deen Dayal Nagar, laid out in parts 1 and 2 and shortened by some to DD Nagar, lies right beside it with quiet streets of family homes. Avantika Colony, spelt Awantika on many signboards, is a compact colony next to Deen Dayal Nagar, and Naveen Nagar adds a stretch of shops and offices to the group, with Dev Vihar beside it.

Because the four colonies touch one another, a tutor living in any of them can often take two homes in a single evening, and that makes regular slots easier to hold. The sports stadium at Sonakpur is on this side of the city, and the Sonakpur railway overbridge joins Kanth Road to Delhi Road, which helps tutors coming across from the western colonies. Requests here run the full range, from early reading for small children to Class 12 science for students who also attend JEE or NEET coaching. If your child goes to coaching, share its timetable at the demo so the tutor's hour sits around it, and always name the phase or part before the house number.

Kanth Road (Ashiyana and Harthala): the planned blocks and the north-west edge

Ashiyana Colony is a planned scheme of the Moradabad Development Authority, set out as Ashiyana I and Ashiyana II, which residents simply call the first and second phase. Houses carry block numbers such as A-2, and the authority's park inside the scheme, with jogging tracks and benches, is a handy meeting point. Harthala is a mixed locality on the city's north-west edge along Kanth Road, with a railway halt on the lines that run into the junction. Himgiri Colony, often written Himigiri, is a quiet colony of family houses between Harthala and Ram Ganga Vihar.

Moradabad is a district centre as well as a railway divisional headquarters, so families move here on job transfers, and a child may join a new school mid-session, sometimes on a different board. When that happens, ask the tutor to compare the two syllabuses first and teach the missing chapters before moving on. Tutors from Ram Ganga Vihar and the nearby colonies reach all three areas without crossing the city centre. For Ashiyana, write the phase, then the block and the house number; for Himgiri, put both spellings in your message so any map app finds you.

Delhi Road and New Moradabad: sectors, schemes and newer homes in the west

New Moradabad is the township the Moradabad Development Authority developed over more than 800 acres, laid out in numbered sectors and pockets, with Eco Herbal Park in Sector 9. Buddhi Vihar, also written Budhi Vihar, has numbered sectors and a second phase. Majhola grew from an old village and now includes the Majhola Yojna sectors of the U.P. Awas Evam Vikas Parishad beside older lanes. Lakri Fazalpur mixes older homes with newer housing blocks from the authority's Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana projects, and Mansarovar Colony, spelt Mansarover on some maps, sits just off Delhi Road near Milan Vihar.

One local resource deserves a mention for older students: the development authority's free public library at its office on Delhi Road is open to the public free of charge, and students preparing for competitive exams use it. Because this side of the city is newer and spread out, many households are finding a tutor for the first time without a neighbour's tip to start from. A common plan is a home tutor from the next sector for school subjects, paired with an online specialist for Computer Science or advanced Maths. Give the sector and pocket first, say whether you are in a Majhola Yojna sector or the older part, and for a flat add the building and floor.

Old City and Katghar: the eastern quarter towards the Ramganga

Katghar is one of the older parts of Moradabad, where homes and small shops stand side by side along closely built lanes, and it has its own station, Katghar (KGF), on the Lucknow–Moradabad line. Lajpat Nagar is a residential colony between Katghar and Prince Road; write "Lajpat Nagar, Moradabad" in full, because map apps often jump to the Delhi locality of the same name. Govind Nagar Colony, usually just called Govind Nagar, lies close to both, with family homes on narrow lanes. The city's general-purpose markets, Budh Bazaar, Town Hall, Tadikhana chauraha and Gurhatti chauraha, belong to this older core.

Here a tutor finds the house by lane name, a well-known shop and the colour of a door far more than by a number, so put all three in the first message. Distances inside the zone are short, and a tutor living in one of the three areas can usually reach the other two quickly. Language often shapes the request: the UP Board's Class 9 subject list includes Hindi, Elementary Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit and English, and many families want a tutor who can teach one of these papers alongside Maths. Market hours make late afternoons slower near the bazaars, so mornings or early evenings tend to suit these homes.

UP Board, CBSE, CISCE or international: which tutor suits which syllabus?

Moradabad has schools under CBSE, CISCE and the UP State Board. Before we suggest anyone, we check the papers your child will actually sit, because a tutor who knows one board's question style well can still be new to another's.

BoardWhat it involvesA question for the tutor
UP Board (Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, Uttar Pradesh), based in Prayagraj The High School examination after Class 10 and the Intermediate examination after Class 12, on the 10+2 pattern the board has used since it was set up in 1921. Moradabad district is served by the board's Regional Office at Bareilly for results, duplicate marksheets and verification. Will you plan from the board's own syllabus and month-wise calendar, and practise on its model papers in my child's medium?
CBSE NCERT textbooks as the base, with questions that ask a student to use an idea, not just repeat it. How will you train full written answers and use the sample papers and marking schemes CBSE publishes?
CISCE: ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) Long written papers in many subjects, prescribed English literature and internal project work. How will you check written English every week and keep projects moving through the term?
IB Diploma and Cambridge IGCSE IB pairs coursework (the Internal Assessment and Extended Essay) with final exams; IGCSE revision runs on past papers. How will you give feedback on coursework while the work stays my child's own?

The UP Board posts a syllabus by subject code, a month-wise academic calendar, model papers and a question bank for Classes 9 to 12 on upmsp.edu.in. Read patterns, timetables and notices there each term rather than trusting a forwarded file. Our pages for UP Board tutors in Moradabad, CBSE home tutors in Moradabad and ICSE home tutors in Moradabad go into each board in more detail; for IB or IGCSE, the fitting specialist is most often reached online.

What changes in a tutor's job from primary school to Class 12?

Nursery to Class 5: short, cheerful sessions

Small children need to read without stumbling, write neat sentences and handle numbers with confidence. A focused session of under an hour, a few days a week, usually does more than one long sitting. In many Moradabad homes the child hears Hindi at home and English at school, so a little reading aloud in both languages helps. One patient tutor who covers every subject in a single visit often suits this stage well.

Classes 6 to 10: stopping small gaps from growing

Maths and science get harder quietly in these years, and a weak chapter in Class 7 can turn into a weak subject by Class 10. Ask the tutor to test old topics before teaching new ones. In the board year, timed practice on past and model papers matters most; two NCERT-based posts help, on preparing Class 10 Maths and revising Class 10 Science.

Classes 11 and 12: a specialist for each heavy subject

The Intermediate years bring heavy Physics, Chemistry and Maths, and practical files start to count. A separate specialist for each subject that worries you usually beats one tutor stretched across all of them. For the senior board year, read our Class 12 Physics strategies and the Class 12 calculus and algebra notes.

Which subjects can a Moradabad tutor cover?

Maths and the sciences make up much of what parents ask for from Class 6 onwards, but tutors on NXTutors also teach English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Social Science, Computer Science, Accountancy, Business Studies and Economics, and for younger children one tutor can often take every subject. The commerce stream after Class 10 deserves a word: a good commerce tutor ties a ledger or a demand curve to the way a real shop runs, which makes the ideas stick. Each core subject has its own Moradabad page: maths, science, physics, chemistry, biology and English.

Some signs that a subject tutor knows the job, on any board. A Maths tutor traces a wrong answer back to the step where it first slipped, even into last year's book. A Physics tutor gets the student to talk through the situation in everyday words before any formula goes on paper. In Chemistry, they keep Physical numericals, Organic reactions and Inorganic facts moving together, as our Organic and Inorganic Chemistry guide for Class 12 explains. For a UP Board student, Hindi grammar, letter writing and the Sanskrit paper deserve the same care as Maths, because those marks count just as much. In English, a child moving from Hindi-medium books needs words built up in both languages first; our spoken English guide adds daily practice.

How can a home tutor help in the JEE and NEET years?

Some Moradabad students prepare for entrance exams at a coaching centre, others study mostly on their own, and many do a bit of both. In every case a personal tutor is most useful with a clear brief, not as a second copy of a class the student already attends. These are the four jobs families most often hand over:

  1. Clearing the week's doubts. The student brings the problems that would not come out, and nothing new starts until each is solved.
  2. Holding up the board year. Intermediate or CBSE board answers, practical files and English, which entrance practice tends to squeeze out.
  3. Checked practice. A fixed set of problems in the weakest subject, marked line by line every week.
  4. One plan for two goals. NCERT underlies the Intermediate or CBSE paper and the entrance syllabus alike, so a single revision timetable can cover the two.

Keep to official facts on the exams. NTA conducts JEE Main, NEET (UG) and CUET (UG), and its information bulletin for each year is the only place to read dates and patterns. JEE Advanced is run separately, with its rules on jeeadv.ac.in, for candidates who qualify through JEE Main. Biology carries half the marks in NEET UG, which is why a slow, careful reading of the NCERT Biology books pays off. For more, see JEE tutors in Moradabad, NEET tutors in Moradabad, and our topic lists for JEE Maths, JEE Physics and JEE Chemistry, along with a post on starting NEET Biology from NCERT.

Should your child learn at home or online in Moradabad?

Both work; what matters is the child and the hour. A tutor in the room suits children below about Class 6, students whose attention wanders on a screen and subjects where every line of working needs watching. A screen widens the choice to tutors across India, which helps for IB, IGCSE, less common ISC subjects or advanced problem solving. Some Moradabad details tip the choice:

  • Tutors come by road. Home tutors usually arrive by two-wheeler or auto, so for visits more than once a week, a tutor from your own zone tends to outlast a slightly stronger one from the far side of the city.
  • Kanth Road and Delhi Road are two different directions. The Sonakpur overbridge links them, but a tutor from Ashiyana and one from New Moradabad still set out from different directions; for home visits, pick from your own side.
  • The newer western sectors. Where fewer tutors live close by, families often pair a nearby home tutor with an online specialist rather than wait.
  • Hot summers and monsoon rain. Agree in advance that the worst days move to a screen instead of being dropped.

Plenty of households settle on a mixed week: the tutor comes to the house on set days and adds a brief video session on the night before a class test. See online tutors for Moradabad and the home tutor or online tutor post, which sets out the trade-offs.

What do home tutors in Moradabad charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

NXTutors does not fix any tutor's fee: each tutor sets their own, and the fee of every shortlisted tutor is visible to you before the demo. A bare number says little on its own, so ask every tutor on the list the same things:

  • How many minutes is a session, and how many a week would you plan for a child in this class?
  • Would entrance preparation be charged differently from help with school chapters?
  • Does coming to my part of Moradabad change the arrangement in any way?
  • What happens if a session is missed by either of us?

If money has to be split, spend it first where marks are slipping most; a single good tutor for that subject usually helps more than thin cover across five. Nobody above the range you mention will be suggested. Class-by-class figures sit in our pricing guide, and the Moradabad view is in our post on home tuition fees in Moradabad.

What should you watch for during the free demo?

Profiles narrow the field; sixty minutes of real teaching settles it. Stay in the next room or chat with your child once the tutor leaves, and keep this list handy:

  • Before any teaching, were school tests, homework and coaching hours part of the first conversation?
  • Was there a short check of what your child can already do, or did the lesson start blindly from chapter one?
  • For a UP Board student, did they know the board's model papers and the medium your child writes in?
  • Was the explanation in the language you requested, Hindi, English or both, and did your child keep up?
  • Could they say clearly what their hour will add to school, and to coaching if your child goes?
  • How much of the hour did your child spend working sums or writing answers rather than watching?
  • Does the agreed weekday slot fit the tutor's own journey, week in and week out?

The set-up matters as well. For a house, send the phase or sector, the block or lane, a landmark and a map pin; for a flat, add the building and floor. An adult at home and a lesson table in a family room keep things comfortable for everyone. Our parents' demo class checklist and board and stream guide carry more detail.

When in the school year is it worth starting?

Any month can work, but each stretch of the year asks something different of a tutor. A rough guide:

  • Start of the session. The most useful window to repair last year's weak chapters before new ones arrive; in the hot months, plan sessions for early morning or evening.
  • Monsoon. Keep a steady weekly rhythm and treat online lessons as the planned back-up on heavy-rain days.
  • The autumn festival weeks. Lessons often thin out for a while, so build a little extra time on either side.
  • Winter. Close the last chapters early, then turn to timed papers, practical files and pre-boards; exam dates come only from the board's notices.
  • The exam months. Board papers, then the entrance exams, whose dates come only from each year's NTA bulletin.

UP Board families can follow the month-wise academic calendar on the board's site, which shows the chapters planned for each month; CBSE and CISCE schools set their own term plans. Starting early in the session buys the most time, and a later start still helps, with the focus shifting to past papers and exam technique.
