UP Board tutors in Moradabad: project marks in Class 9, statistics in Class 11, Java in Class 12

Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, Uttar Pradesh, known to most families as the UP Board, sets two public examinations, High School after Class 10 and Intermediate after Class 12. Moradabad parents reading this are usually choosing a home tutor for one of those two years, or for the classes that lead into them. Instead of repeating the familiar maths and science marks, it reads three of the board's 2026–27 syllabus files closely: Class 9 Social Science, with its project work and a new kind of question; Class 11 Economics, which opens with a full statistics course; and Class 12 Computer, which teaches Java and ends in a robotics or drone project. After those come the office that serves this district, a plan for the year, six localities and the questions to ask at the demo. Board facts on this page are taken only from upmsp.edu.in; schemes are revised each session, so open the file for your child's own year too.

The board, and the office that serves Moradabad

An act passed by the United Provinces Legislative Council created the board at Prayagraj in 1921, and its first examinations were held two years later, in 1923. The 10+2 pattern has applied since the start, with High School taken after ten years of school and Intermediate at the 10+2 stage. Prayagraj remains the head office.

For queries about examinations, results, duplicate certificates and marksheets, migration, verification and scrutiny, the board's contact page sends Moradabad district to its Regional Office at Bareilly, in Civil Lines there. The same office covers Amroha, Bijnor, Rampur, Sambhal, Bareilly, Budaun, Shahjahanpur and Pilibhit, and the page says it handles records from 1986 onwards. A tutor has no part in any of this. Nobody should offer to "arrange" anything with the board; such questions go to the school or to the board's official contacts.

What the board publishes, and how a tutor should use it

  • Syllabus files for Classes 9 to 12, listed by subject code, with unit marks.
  • A month-wise academic calendar that spreads the syllabus across the session. Teaching in step with it keeps tuition level with school.
  • Model papers that show the shape of the final paper. Use them in the last stretch, timed and in the language of the answer sheet.
  • A question bank for chapter-wise practice through the year.

A tutor who works from these files rather than from guess papers is easy to spot in the demo: they can name the unit marks for your child's subject without looking them up.

Class 9 Social Science: four books in one subject

In the 2026–27 file, Class 9 Social Science is worth 100: a written paper of 70 and 30 marks assessed in school. The paper draws on four parts.

UP Board Class 9 Social Science, 2026–27: the written paper
PartMarksMain chapters
History (India and the Contemporary World 1)20The French Revolution; socialism in Europe and the Russian Revolution; Nazism and the rise of Hitler; forest society and colonialism; pastoralists in the modern world; map work 5
Geography (Contemporary India 1)20India's size and location, physical features, drainage, climate, natural vegetation and wildlife, population; map work 5
Political Science (Democratic Politics)15What democracy is and why; constitutional design; electoral politics; working of institutions; democratic rights
Economics15The story of village Palampur; people as resource; poverty as a challenge; food security in India

Two details deserve early practice. First, map work: ten marks across history and geography, from marking places in France and the alliances of the two world wars to India's mountain ranges, rivers, lakes, national parks and rainfall zones. Map items are quick marks for a student who practises with a blank outline map every week, and slow ones for a student who has only read about them. (Visually impaired candidates answer five related questions instead.) Second, from 2026–27 one descriptive question in history and in geography is replaced by a source-based question worth four marks, built on a passage and a picture. That rewards reading a source carefully before answering, a habit a tutor can build with one short source in each session.

How the 30 school marks are earned

Internal assessment in UP Board Class 9 Social Science, 2026–27
PieceMarksWhat it is
First internal assessment10Project work or an activity
Second internal assessment10A second project or activity
Third internal assessment10Four unit tests across the year, multiple-choice and descriptive by turns, the first including holiday homework; their total is scaled to 10

The file suggests project topics such as the songs, dances, festivals and seasonal foods of different regions, endangered plants and animals near the school, the safety of women, children, older people and people with disabilities, women's role in the freedom struggle, and local environmental problems with possible remedies. Each project is judged on originality and accuracy, presentation and creativity, the way the work was carried out, and an oral or written check that the student understood it. That last part carries the most weight, so a tutor should make your child explain the project aloud, not just help it look neat.

Class 11 Economics: statistics before economic history

Class 11 Economics is a single paper of 100 marks, with 33 needed to pass. It falls into two halves, and the first is really a mathematics course.

UP Board Class 11 Economics, 2026–27
UnitMarksContent
Introduction to statistics in economics5What economics is, and why statistics matters to it
Collecting, organising and presenting data20Primary and secondary data, sampling, the Census of India and the NSSO; frequency distributions; bar and pie diagrams, histograms, polygons, ogives and time-series graphs
Statistical tools13Mean (simple and weighted), median and mode
Correlation and index numbers6 + 6Two short units of method
India's development, 1947–1990, and reforms since 199117Planning goals, agriculture, industry and trade; liberalisation, globalisation and privatisation
Current challenges25Rural development, credit and cooperatives, organic farming; human capital; employment; sustainable development
India and its neighbours8Comparison with Pakistan and China

Statistics carries half the paper, and arts or commerce students who left maths behind in Class 10 often struggle with weighted means, ogives and correlation. A tutor should teach those with worked tables on paper, drawn by the student. The development half rewards structured long answers with dates, policies and examples in order.

Class 12 Computer: Java, robots and drones

In Intermediate, the Class 12 Computer file sets a written paper of 60 and a practical of 40, and a student must score at least 20, 13 and 33 overall. The written units: object-oriented ideas (classes, objects, inheritance, and how they differ from structured programming) 15; core Java (the JDK, JRE and JVM, data types, input and output, method overloading, constructors, encapsulation and interfaces) 15; advanced Java (arrays, strings, packages, multithreading, exception handling and a short look at AWT) 10; robotics 10; and drone technology, including calibration and where drones may fly, 10.

The practical is where tuition matters most: two programs from a set list for 10, a micro project on robotics or a drone for 15, sessional work 10 and a viva 5. Ask for sessions where your child writes and runs Java on a laptop, keeps a dated record of each program, chooses the project topic early and explains the code aloud.

The Class 11 Economics and Class 12 Computer files also list four unit tests held in school for remedial teaching, and say plainly that those marks are left out of the result. Treat them as free diagnostics: bring each marked test to the next session.

Languages and the answer sheet

The board's Class 9 subject list includes Hindi, Urdu, Sanskrit and English among many languages, so a Moradabad student may need help in more than one of them. Tell us which languages your child studies and the language your child writes answers in, so the tutors we suggest teach in it. If a change of board is on the cards, read our CBSE and ICSE and ISC pages for Moradabad, and the English home tutors in Moradabad page covers that subject across boards.

Planning the UP Board year with a tutor

Opening weeks

Download the syllabus file for each subject and mark the unit weights. Match the school's textbooks. Put project, practical and unit-test dates on one calendar.

The middle months

Follow the month-wise calendar, practise from the question bank, review each unit test, and keep maps, projects and program records moving.

Before the paper

Switch to the model papers, timed and written in the answer-sheet language, with short revision rounds on the heaviest units.

How UP Board tutors reach six Moradabad localities

  • Majhola (Delhi Road and New Moradabad): Majhola Yojna sectors sit beside older village lanes; say which part you live in.
  • Lakri Fazalpur (Delhi Road): newer blocks of flats; give the building, the floor and the tutor's name at the entrance.
  • Buddhi Vihar (Delhi Road): sectors and a second phase; send both spellings, Buddhi and Budhi.
  • Katghar (Old City and Katghar): the older east, with its own station on the Lucknow line; give the mohalla and a well-known corner.
  • Lajpat Nagar (Old City): between Katghar and Prince Road; write "Lajpat Nagar, Moradabad" so maps do not open Delhi.
  • Govind Nagar Colony (Old City): closely built lanes where house numbers can be hard to follow; a door colour helps on the first visit.

Every locality is on the Moradabad home tutors page, and the Moradabad home tuition guide sets out timing zone by zone. If the specialist you need lives too far away, online tutors for Moradabad are the alternative.

Demo questions for a UP Board tutor

  1. Which units carry the most marks in this subject this year? Anyone who has opened the board's file can answer.
  2. How will you handle the internal marks? Listen for projects, maps, practical records and unit tests, not only the paper.
  3. How do you practise the new source-based question? Relevant for Class 9 Social Science.
  4. Can you teach the statistics half of Class 11 Economics? Or Java for Class 12 Computer, if that is the subject.
  5. Will homework and tests be written in the language of my child's answer sheet? They should be.

You get two or three matched tutors, and every fee is on screen ahead of the demo. The opening class costs nothing, nor does a later change of tutor. More ideas are in our parents' checklist for the demo.

UP Board Home Tutor in Moradabad (High School & Intermediate): common questions

Which UP Board office handles results and marksheets for Moradabad students?

The UP Board's Regional Office at Bareilly, in Civil Lines there, handles Moradabad district for examinations, results, duplicate marksheets, migration and verification. It also serves Amroha, Bijnor, Rampur, Sambhal, Bareilly, Budaun, Shahjahanpur and Pilibhit. A tutor has no role in these matters; questions go to the school or the board's official contacts.

What hourly fee do UP Board home tutors charge in Moradabad?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each Moradabad UP Board tutor sets their own fee, and you see it before you book.

How is UP Board Class 9 Social Science marked for 2026-27?

UP Board Class 9 Social Science for 2026–27 has a 70-mark written paper and 30 school-assessed marks. The paper gives 20 each to history and geography, including map work, and 15 each to political science and economics. The 30 internal marks come from two projects or activities and four unit tests scaled to 10.

What is the new source-based question in UP Board Class 9 Social Science?

From 2026–27, one descriptive question in Class 9 history and one in geography are replaced by a source-based question worth four marks. It is built on a passage and a picture, with four one-mark parts. A Moradabad tutor can prepare your child by setting one short source in each session and asking for careful reading first.

How are UP Board Class 9 Social Science projects judged?

Each UP Board Class 9 Social Science project is judged on four things. They are originality and accuracy, presentation and creativity, the way the work was done, and an oral or written check of the content. The check carries the most marks, so a tutor should have your child explain the project aloud, not just make it neat.

Why do Class 11 UP Board Economics students in Moradabad need maths help?

Half of UP Board Class 11 Economics is statistics: data collection and presentation, mean, median and mode, correlation and index numbers. Students who dropped maths after Class 10 often find weighted means, ogives and correlation hard. A Moradabad tutor should teach them with worked tables the student draws, then move to the development half.

What does a Moradabad student study in UP Board Class 12 Computer?

A Moradabad student in UP Board Class 12 Computer studies object-oriented ideas, core and advanced Java, robotics and drone technology. The written paper is 60 marks and the practical 40, with minimums of 20, 13 and 33 overall. The practical includes two programs, a robotics or drone micro project, sessional work and a viva.

Do the UP Board unit tests count towards the final result?

In the Class 11 Economics and Class 12 Computer files, the four unit tests held in school are for remedial teaching, and their marks are not counted in the result. In Class 9 Social Science, by contrast, the unit tests form 10 of the 30 internal marks. Either way, a tutor should review every marked test.
