What home tuition costs in Bareilly

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Example only, not a quote: one subject, one-hour classes, 4 weeks a month. Your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.
Classes a week Classes a month At ₹800 an hour At ₹2,500 an hour
2 8 ₹6,400 a month ₹20,000 a month
3 12 ₹9,600 a month ₹30,000 a month

Why one-to-one home tuition costs more than group coaching

In a coaching batch, one teacher's hour is shared by many students, so each family pays for a part of it. At home the whole hour is your child's: the pace, the questions and the homework check follow one student, and the tutor's travel to your home is part of the working day. A small group of two or three children from the same society usually costs less per child, with less individual attention.

Finding a home tutor in Bareilly, zone by zone

Bareilly is easiest to picture as a handful of belts around its railway lines. Civil Lines sits in the middle, laid out in the late nineteenth century between the old city and the cantonment, with Rampur Garden to its north-east. West of it, the older lanes around Kutubkhana hold Koharapeer, Gulab Nagar, Prem Nagar and Madhinath. The north is railway country: Izatnagar is the headquarters of a North Eastern Railway division, with Karamchari Nagar and CB Ganj beside it and the colonies of Rajendra Nagar, DD Puram, Model Town and Ekta Nagar between the Mini Bypass and Stadium Road. Green Park, Harunagla and Mahanagar Colony run along the Pilibhit Bypass on the eastern side. The UP Board has kept a regional office in the city since 1981, and CBSE and ICSE homes share the same streets. What matters most is a tutor who can reach your gate on the same weekday every week, with a clear job to do.

What should a Bareilly parent put in the first message?

Keep it short. We need your child's class and board, the chapters or subjects that are going wrong, the colony and one landmark a newcomer could spot, the hours left over once school and any coaching are done, and whether you want lessons at home, on a laptop or a mix. If you have a monthly budget in mind, add it, so nobody is suggested who sits above it. NXTutors replies with two or three matched tutors. Each tutor's fee is shown to you before you meet them, and the first lesson with the one you pick is a free demo. In Bareilly, these four points usually decide whether a match lasts:

  • Your side of the tracks. Railway lines cut across the city, between the cantonment and Subhash Nagar and up through Izatnagar. A tutor who does not have to cross a line or the old centre at lesson time tends to stay with you longer.
  • A lane or a colony. Old-city homes near Kutubkhana are reached through narrow streets, while the northern and eastern colonies have plot and block numbers. Tell us which kind of address yours is, and the directions can be written to suit it.
  • Board and writing medium. A UP Board High School student writing answers in Hindi needs different practice from a CBSE or ICSE student who writes in English, and some children shift between the two languages in one subject.
  • A recent move. Families who move to Bareilly for railway or research work sometimes arrive part-way through the year. If your child has changed city or board, say so; the tutor can start with a short check of what the old school covered.

Use the demo for whatever chapter is on the timetable that week, so you see ordinary teaching. If it does not click, let us know and another tutor from the shortlist takes the next demo. Changing tutor at a later stage costs you nothing.

How we divide Bareilly into five zones

Matches for Bareilly come from our pool of tutor profiles, and 19 Bareilly localities have a page of their own. Every one of those pages lists tutors in the same order: people living in that locality, then tutors who already travel to it, then the rest of its zone, then Bareilly as a whole, and finally online tutors. To plan home visits we use five zones, taken here from the centre outwards: Civil Lines and Cantonment, Old City, Izatnagar and CB Ganj, Rajendra Nagar and DD Puram and Pilibhit Bypass and Bisalpur Road. These are our own groupings, drawn for tutor travel. They are not wards of the municipal corporation and do not follow any official boundary.

Civil Lines and Cantonment: the planned middle of the city

Civil Lines lies at the centre of Bareilly. It was laid out in the late nineteenth century in the space between the old city and the cantonment, and today it holds a large share of the city's government offices, with Gandhi Udyan, once known as the Company Garden, on its eastern side. Rampur Garden grew after independence as a residential colony to the north-east of Civil Lines, and the two together are where many official buildings stand. The homes of Bareilly Cantonment are surrounded by the city on every side, and Subhash Nagar sits to the west of it, across a railway line, towards the Badaun Bypass Road side of south Bareilly.

Bareilly Junction stands near the western edge of the cantonment, so this zone is easy for a tutor to name and find. Because the four localities are close to one another, a tutor living in one can often fit lessons in two of them on the same afternoon, which gives families here a fairly wide choice of subject specialists. Lesson times often follow the office day, with sessions after working hours or early on weekend mornings.

For a cantonment address, tell the tutor beforehand which gate to use and what photo identity to carry. In Civil Lines and Rampur Garden, a government office or a known crossing is the clearest landmark; for Subhash Nagar, add the block or gali and a point on Badaun Road.

Old City: the lanes around Kutubkhana

Kutubkhana is the old centre, the crossing where Nainital Road meets the road between Bada Bazaar and Shyam Ganj. It is a crowded street, and cars and heavy vehicles are kept off it during the day. Around it lie the older residential quarters. Koharapeer has Alamgiri Ganj, Shahbad, Bara Bazar and Zakati Street as neighbours, with homes and shops close together. Gulab Nagar is on the Nainital Road side, near Zakati Street and Sahukara. Further west, Prem Nagar is counted in the western part of the city, close to Zakhira and Baqarganj, and Madhinath lies to its south-west, beside Durga Nagar.

Distance is rarely the problem in the old city; the lanes are. A tutor on a two-wheeler may need to walk the last stretch. Write the route turn by turn from that road, say exactly where a two-wheeler can stand, and avoid the busiest daytime hours near Kutubkhana. Early mornings, holiday afternoons or an online lesson on the heaviest days keep the timetable steady.

In a busy household, set aside a corner that can stay quiet for the full hour. A tutor who teaches siblings one after the other in a single visit also saves a second trip through the lanes.

Izatnagar and CB Ganj: the railway and research belt in the north

Izatnagar, also written Izzatnagar, is the headquarters of one of the three divisions of North Eastern Railway. It has a railway mechanical workshop dating from 1913, a diesel loco shed, railway colonies and two national research institutes, one for veterinary science and one for poultry science. Izzatnagar station is on Nainital Road, which is also the main road from this zone into the centre. Karamchari Nagar lies close by, next to Delapeer. CB Ganj, short for Clutterbuckganj, began as a small industrial settlement under British rule and later became part of the city, as Izatnagar did.

Where a family has moved here for railway or research work, a child may join a new school mid-year, from another city or another board. A good tutor here begins with a short diagnostic: which chapters the old school finished, which it skipped and how the new school's tests are set. That first week of mapping saves a lot of confusion later.

Railway quarters can look alike from the street, so give the colony, road number and quarter number in full. In CB Ganj, if no senior-subject specialist lives nearby, add an online tutor for that one subject.

Rajendra Nagar and DD Puram: colonies between the Mini Bypass and Stadium Road

Rajendra Nagar is listed in the northern part of Bareilly, with the Mini Bypass, Greater Green Park Colony, Karamchari Nagar, Mahanagar Colony, North City Extension and Munshi Nagar among its neighbours, and Stadium Road close by. Deen Dayal Puram, which most people call DD Puram, is mapped within the Izatnagar area, with Ekta Nagar, Krishna Vanti Colony and Patel Nagar Road around it. Model Town is a residential area mapped in the same part of the city, and Ekta Nagar sits beside DD Puram.

Stadium Road and the Mini Bypass are two of the city's main roads, and they make this zone simple to reach from the north and the centre. The colonies sit close together, so one tutor can often teach in two or three of them in an evening.

Write both names, DD Puram and Deen Dayal Puram, in your address, because some tutors know only the short form. Say "Model Town, Bareilly" in full with the street and house number, since many Indian cities have a Model Town and a map search can easily go wrong.

Pilibhit Bypass and Bisalpur Road: the eastern edge

The Pilibhit By-pass Road, once part of NH 74, is the reference point for this zone, and NH 730B leaves the city on this side towards Bisalpur. Green Park belongs to a cluster of colonies with similar names, Green Park, Green Park Colony and Greater Green Park Colony, in the eastern part of the city. Harunagla is listed in Bareilly East too, with the Green Park colonies as neighbours. Suresh Sharma Nagar is close to Dohra Road, and Mahanagar Colony lies near Veer Savarkar Nagar, Tula Sherpur and Chandpur Bichpuri.

This belt is well away from the old centre, and fewer tutors may live close by than in central Bareilly. NXTutors therefore often widens the search here, first to tutors who already travel to the bypass side and then to online tutors. A sensible split is a home tutor for core school subjects and an online tutor for one specialist subject, such as Class 11 and 12 Chemistry or Accountancy.

Start your directions from the Pilibhit Bypass or Bisalpur Road, then name the colony entrance before the lane. In the Green Park cluster, say exactly which of the three colonies you live in, with the block or plot number. If you live in a flat, give the building name and floor, and let whoever is on the gate know that a tutor is expected for the first visit.

UP Board, CBSE, CISCE or international: matching the tutor to the paper

Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, the UP Board, states on its own site that more than 22,000 secondary schools are recognised by it, while a small number of schools in the state follow CISCE instead; CBSE schools are part of the picture too. Bareilly families meet all of these, so we check the exact syllabus before suggesting anyone.

SyllabusThe shape of itWorth asking the tutor
UP Board (Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, Uttar Pradesh), head office in Prayagraj High School examination after Class 10 and Intermediate examination after Class 12. The board opened its regional office in Bareilly in 1981. Which textbooks will you teach from, in which medium, and how will you practise answers the way the board marks them?
CBSE NCERT books at the core, with questions that test whether a student can use an idea, not just repeat it. How often will you set full written answers and work through the board's sample papers?
CISCE: ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) Lengthy written papers in many subjects, set English literature texts and internal project work. How will you pace revision so that literature and projects are not squeezed into the final weeks?
IB Diploma and Cambridge IGCSE IB adds internal assessment to its final exams; IGCSE revision runs on old papers and their mark schemes. How will you guide coursework while every word of it stays my child's own?

Created in 1921, with its first examination in 1923, the UP Board has used the 10+2 pattern from the start. Timetables, registration notices and paper patterns change between years, so read them on upmsp.edu.in and not on a forwarded screenshot. Our pages for UP Board tutors in Bareilly, CBSE home tutors in Bareilly and ICSE home tutors in Bareilly look at each board more closely. IB and IGCSE students in Bareilly usually reach the right specialist online.

How does the tutor's job change from Class 1 to Class 12?

Classes 1 to 5: steady basics

Small children need a calm, repeated routine more than clever explanations. Fluent reading aloud, tidy handwriting, tables they know by heart and place value that makes sense are the goals. Tell the tutor whether the school teaches in Hindi or English, because the plan for each is quite different. Shorter sessions, held while a grandparent or parent is at home, usually work well at this age.

Classes 6 to 10: the run-up to High School

Algebra, geometry proofs and the first proper science practicals all arrive in these years. A tutor should look at the school notebook every week and keep homework on track, not only push on to the next chapter. By Class 9, whether your child will sit UP Board High School, CBSE Class 10 or ICSE, the target is the whole syllabus done with weeks to spare for revision. Our plan for Class 10 Maths and Class 10 Science notes follow NCERT and cover topics that most boards share.

Classes 11 and 12: one expert per difficult subject

After a student picks science, commerce or arts for the Intermediate or senior CBSE and ISC years, a single tutor for everything rarely keeps pace. A separate teacher for Physics, Maths or Accountancy usually works better, and you are free to request one. In the board year, read our strategies for Class 12 Physics and the Class 12 guide to calculus and algebra.

Which subjects can a tutor in Bareilly cover?

From Class 6 onwards, Maths and Science make up many requests, but the tutors on our list cover far more: English, Hindi and Sanskrit, Social Science, Computer Science, and the commerce subjects of Accountancy, Economics and Business Studies. A younger child can often have one tutor for all of it. For UP Board students, Hindi deserves real attention: it is a subject of its own as well as the medium some children write in, so grammar and answer writing matter as much as reading. Each core subject has a Bareilly page of its own: maths, science, physics, chemistry, biology and English.

Each subject has its own signs of a tutor who knows the work. A Maths tutor goes back to the first wrong line of a solution, even when the mistake comes from a chapter learnt two years earlier. A Science tutor asks about the practical record as well as the theory, because both carry marks. A senior Chemistry tutor keeps numericals, reactions and the facts of the periodic table moving together every week; our notes on Class 12 Organic and Inorganic Chemistry show one way to do that. An English tutor teaches the sentence control a student needs in every subject's answers, and with a child who thinks in Hindi first, lets the two languages sit side by side for a while. Our guide to spoken English adds daily practice ideas.

Where does a home tutor fit in a JEE or NEET year?

A Bareilly student in Class 11 or 12 aiming at engineering or medicine is often juggling three things: school, the board exam and an entrance exam, and for some, coaching as well. A home tutor helps most when handed one clear task. These four come up again and again:

  1. Covering the board syllabus. The tutor makes sure Intermediate or CBSE board chapters are done properly, so entrance hours are not eaten up by school work.
  2. A fixed doubt hour. The student brings every question that stayed unsolved that week, and nothing new starts until those are cleared.
  3. Marked practice. A weekly problem set in the weakest subject, checked line by line and not only for the final answer.
  4. Revision that serves both papers. NCERT underpins the board papers and the entrance syllabus, so one revision plan can do double duty.

On the exams themselves, rely only on official sources. JEE Main and NEET UG are both run by the National Testing Agency, and the pattern and dates for each year appear in its information bulletin on nta.ac.in. Candidates who qualify through JEE Main can sit JEE Advanced, whose rules are published on jeeadv.ac.in. In NEET UG, Biology makes up half the paper, so unhurried reading of the NCERT Biology books pays off. See JEE tutors in Bareilly, NEET tutors in Bareilly, our topic-wise JEE plans for Maths, Physics and Chemistry, and our NCERT-first plan for NEET Biology.

Should your child learn at home, online or both?

There is no single right answer; it turns on the child and the subject. A tutor in the room suits children up to about Class 6, anyone who drifts in front of a screen and any subject where a parent wants to see the working written out by hand. Online lessons open the door to tutors from across India, which matters for IB, IGCSE, a rare ISC elective or hard entrance problems. In Bareilly, a few local points push the choice one way or the other:

  • Road travel only. Home tutors in Bareilly travel by road, usually on a two-wheeler, so for lessons three or four times a week, someone in your own zone is worth more than a slightly stronger one from the far side of the city.
  • The old centre by day. With cars kept off the Kutubkhana stretch in daytime, old-city lessons work better early or late, and an online session covers the awkward days.
  • The outer colonies. In CB Ganj, Mahanagar Colony or Suresh Sharma Nagar, a nearby home tutor for school work plus an online specialist for one hard subject is a common and sensible split.
  • Heat and rain. Decide on day one that a scorching June afternoon or a monsoon downpour means a screen lesson, not a cancelled one.

Online lessons need little: a quiet table, a laptop or tablet with charge, headphones, and a connection tested a day ahead. A pattern many households like is a few home visits each week plus a brief online check-in before a test, all with one tutor. See online tutors for Bareilly and our side-by-side look at home and online tutoring.

What do home tutors in Bareilly charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

We do not fix any tutor's fee. Each tutor sets their own, and you can read the fee of everyone on your shortlist before the demo. A number on its own says little, so put the same handful of questions to each tutor and compare the answers:

  • How long does each lesson last, and how many a week would you advise for this class?
  • If two children in the house need help, can they be taught one after the other in a visit, and how is that charged?
  • Does entrance-level teaching cost more than help with school chapters?
  • What happens to the fee if either side has to miss a lesson?

Put your money first into the subject causing the most worry; one strong tutor there usually does more good than the same amount spread thinly. Nobody above the budget you give us is suggested. For a breakdown by class and subject, see the pricing guide, and for local detail, our post on home tuition fees in Bareilly.

What tells you, during the free demo, that the tutor is right?

A profile helps you narrow the field, but an hour of real teaching shows far more. Stay within earshot, or talk to your child afterwards, and go through these questions:

  • Before teaching, did the tutor find out about school hours, coaching and upcoming tests?
  • Did they gauge your child's level with a few quick questions instead of starting from chapter one?
  • If your child moved here from another city or board, did the tutor ask what the old school had covered?
  • Did your child follow easily in the language you wanted, whether Hindi, English or both?
  • Asked about this year's board paper, did the tutor give exact details or general talk?
  • For most of the hour, was your child solving and writing, or sitting and listening?
  • Is the weekly slot one the tutor can really keep, given where they live?

Sort out the practical side too. Send the colony, house or quarter number, a landmark and a map pin the evening before; for a cantonment address, add the gate and any identity the tutor should carry. Hold lessons in a family room with a grown-up in the house, and if both parents work, ask for a short weekly message on homework and the next topic. Our demo class checklist for parents and our help on choosing a board and stream go into more detail.

Is there a right month to begin tuition?

Any month works, but the season changes what the tutor should be doing. A rough map, using CBSE's April start:

  • April to June. Gaps left from last year are easiest to close now, before new chapters arrive; morning or evening slots avoid the worst heat.
  • July to September. Rain can upset travel, so keep the weekly rhythm and switch to a screen on stormy days.
  • October and November. Festivals bring lighter weeks; a few extra sessions either side keep the plan whole.
  • December to February. Finish the syllabus, then sit full timed papers and pre-boards, with exam dates taken from official notices alone.
  • March onwards. Board exams are written, and the entrance exams come on the dates set in their bulletins.

UP Board families should take dates from upmsp.edu.in, since the state board's calendar can differ from CBSE's. Beginning early gives the most room; beginning late still helps, with the focus moving to old papers and to answering against the clock.

How do you get started in Bareilly?

Three steps. First, send the class, board and subjects, your colony with a landmark, and the hours that stay free after school. Second, compare the two or three tutors who come back to you, with their fees, and pick one for a free demo. Third, make up your mind once that lesson ends. Prefer to browse first? Pick your locality from the list on this page, read some tutor profiles or ask for a free demo class right away. If no home tutor lives near enough yet, an online tutor can start straight away.

For advice locality by locality, our Bareilly home tuition guide goes through all five zones, from Civil Lines and the cantonment in the centre to Izatnagar in the north and the Green Park colonies on the Pilibhit Bypass.

Elsewhere in Uttar Pradesh, we also cover Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra and Meerut, along with Moradabad, Aligarh, Saharanpur and Gorakhpur. Every city we serve is on our cities page.
