Not sure which tutor fits? Tell us the class, board and your sector: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.
| Classes a week | Classes a month | At ₹800 an hour | At ₹2,500 an hour |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 8 | ₹6,400 a month | ₹20,000 a month |
| 3 | 12 | ₹9,600 a month | ₹30,000 a month |
In a coaching batch, one teacher's hour is shared by many students, so each family pays for a part of it. At home the whole hour is your child's: the pace, the questions and the homework check follow one student, and the tutor's travel to your home is part of the working day. A small group of two or three children from the same society usually costs less per child, with less individual attention.

Ask a family here where they live and the answer is rarely "Vasai-Virar". It is Vasai, Nalasopara or Virar, or Naigaon, followed by East or West for the side of the railway line. The city on paper joins all of them: four former municipal councils, Vasai, Virar, Nallasopara and Navghar-Manikpur, merged with the villages around them, north of Vasai Creek and south of the Vaitarna river, in Palghar district. For tuition, the everyday names are the ones that count. A tutor living in Vasai West reaches Manickpur or Papdy easily but may hesitate over Agashi; one based near Virar station can manage Bolinj and Phoolpada, but not Naigaon East on a weekday evening. What follows covers the six parts of the city we plan home visits around, the boards children sit, what each class stage needs, fees and the free demo, so the person you choose can keep coming every week and knows exactly what they have been asked to fix.
A short message does the job. Give your child's class, the school's board and medium, the subject or chapter that is going wrong, your neighbourhood with East or West, the evening hours that are genuinely free once the school bus is back, and whether lessons should be at home, on video or both. A rough monthly budget helps us keep the list realistic. In return you get two or three matched tutors, each with the fee shown up front, and the first class with the one you pick is a free demo. Locally, four things shape that shortlist most:
During the demo, let the tutor teach the chapter your child is on in school this week. If the match feels wrong, say so and we line up the next person. Moving to a different tutor later costs nothing either.
Plenty of parents start with a class in mind rather than a person. They look up coaching classes in Vasai for a Class 10 or HSC student, ask around about coaching classes in Virar close to the station, or hear of coaching classes in Nalasopara that hold batches after school. For younger children, a small tuition class in a neighbour's flat is another familiar choice. None of these is a wrong answer. A batch sticks to one timetable, moves at the group's speed and costs each family less, since several students split the teacher's time. A child who keeps up, speaks up when stuck and enjoys learning alongside classmates often thrives in one.
A personal tutor answers a different need. With only one student in the room, the tutor can pause on the exact line where an answer slips, revisit a Class 8 topic that never made sense, or give a whole evening to writing answers the way the board expects. You pick the time and the place, your home or a video call, and you can watch the teaching yourself. The price of that attention is real: an hour for one child usually costs more than a seat in a group, and it relies on someone who can reach your door every week.
To be plain about our side: NXTutors has no coaching centre, tuition class or batch anywhere in Vasai-Virar. We find an individual tutor who teaches your child alone, at home or online. Many families mix the two. A Class 12 science student stays in an entrance batch and adds a tutor at home for HSC chapters and written answers; a Class 6 child leaves a crowded group for a term of one-to-one work on fractions and reading. When the real need is someone to find the gap and close it, rather than a schedule to follow, a single tutor is usually the better fit, and the free demo is a low-risk way to find out.
We draw Vasai-Virar shortlists from our pool of tutor profiles, and 20 neighbourhoods here have their own page. Each page ranks tutors the same way: residents of that neighbourhood first, next anyone who already teaches there, then its zone, the wider city and, last, online tutors. The six zones, in the order below, are Vasai West, Vasai East, Naigaon, Nalasopara, Virar West and Virar East, with Naigaon at the southern tip and Virar furthest north. The Western line runs straight up the middle, which is why East and West carry so much weight in every address. We drew these zones ourselves to plan how tutors travel; they do not follow the corporation's wards.
Manickpur, written Manikpur on some gates, sits close to the old heart of Vasai, and many families have lived in the same lanes for years while newer flats have come up around them; the cricket ground is the reference most visitors are given. Papdy, or Papdi, keeps a village name and has Papdy Road running through it. Chulne, also spelt Chulna, and Sandor lie next to each other along Chulna Sandor Road, where houses set among trees still give the lanes a quieter, village feel.
Vasai Road Junction, known as Bassein Road in earlier years, is the railway hub for this side. Further out stands Fort Vasai, a ruined fort from the Portuguese era that is now a protected monument. Tutors living in Manickpur or near Vasai Road can usually reach Papdy and Sandor on a weekday; Chulne may need fixed days agreed in advance or a weekend morning. Where two children are on different boards, ask whether one tutor can keep two separate plans, or let us suggest two tutors.
Vasant Nagari is a large residential neighbourhood east of the tracks, and its addresses read either Vasai East or Nalasopara East, so write Vasant Nagari first and then whichever your building uses. Gokhivare grew around an old village and its lake, which remains the easiest landmark to give. Waliv, also written Valiv, lies further east, towards Waliv Phata and Golani Naka.
Most homes in this zone are flats, and where both parents work, tuition tends to be fixed for the evening. The city's own buses run across Vasai-Virar, which helps tutors who do not have a vehicle of their own. Tell the tutor who will be at home during the lesson and try to keep that person the same each week; children settle faster when the routine does not change. For Gokhivare and Waliv, add a junction such as Waliv Phata to the address, and for a building with several wings, say which gate to use.
Naigaon East is a developing part of the city with many newer apartment projects and some commercial buildings. Naigaon West, across the line and towards Umela, has more long-standing family homes and sits close enough to Vasai West for tutors from either side. Juchandra, on the eastern edge and counted as part of Greater Naigaon, is a village with its own station on the Central Railway route from Vasai Road towards Diva and Panvel, linked to Naigaon by the Naigaon–Juchandra road.
Naigaon station on the Western line, open since 1956, divides the two sides, so always write Naigaon East or Naigaon West and never Naigaon alone; another Naigaon exists in Mumbai, which makes the plain name even more confusing. This zone is also the southern tip of Palghar district. Many children here travel some way to school, so leave time for the bus and a meal before the lesson. In Juchandra, fewer tutors live close by: two fixed weekday slots and online lessons for a senior subject usually work better than hoping for a tutor next door.
Nalasopara, also spelt Nallasopara and officially called Shurparak Nagar, takes its name from Sopara, an ancient port town. Nalla Sopara station on the Western line splits it in two. Nalasopara West mixes apartment buildings with older neighbourhoods such as Nirmal, and Samel Pada, sometimes written Samelpada, lies near the Bolinj Sopara road with narrow lanes behind its buildings. Nalasopara East takes in many smaller neighbourhoods, among them Tulinj and Santosh Bhuvan, and Achole is known for Achole Road and the Achole lake and garden.
Homes here sit close together, which is good news for tuition: a tutor living in the same part of Nalasopara is often not hard to find, and one tutor may teach in two or three buildings on the same evening. The catch is the size of the place. Give the neighbourhood, the building and the wing, and send a map pin before the first visit, because the lanes off Achole Road and in Samel Pada can confuse a newcomer. Requests from this zone run from primary homework routines to HSC biology with NEET in view, so say exactly which stage your child is at.
Bolinj is mostly apartment buildings, with Bolinj Naka as the junction everyone names and Virar station close by. Further west, Agashi is an old village with its own post office, where family homes are spread along the roads rather than stacked in blocks. Arnala is a coastal village at the north-western end of the city, near the mouth of the Vaitarna; Arnala Fort stands on a small island just offshore, and Arnala Beach is one of the beaches of Palghar district.
Virar station, at the northern end of the very first regular suburban service in 1867, anchors this side. Tutors are easiest to find around Bolinj, and a student there aiming for JEE Main can usually have a home tutor for maths or physics. In Agashi and Arnala, ask whether the tutor has a vehicle, give the house name, the road and a neighbour's name, and plan the year before it starts: many families pair a home tutor for a younger child with online lessons for an older one, set on different evenings so they never clash.
Chandansar stretches along Chandansar Road, where newer apartment colonies stand beside older houses, and many addresses name the colony first and the road second, which is the order a tutor finds easiest. Manvelpada, also written Manvel Pada, grew around its lake and garden. Phoolpada, or Phool Pada, lies along Phool Pada Road, with the Phoolpada ground as the reference most people know. Jivdani Hill rises on this side and is a landmark many families use.
Children here go to State Board, CBSE and ICSE schools in Marathi or English medium, and many in English-medium schools also take Hindi or Marathi as a second language. That paper is easy to forget until marks come back, so mention it if it worries you. For home tuition in Virar East, a tutor from the station side can usually cover all three neighbourhoods. In the Class 10 year, fix one evening slot each week from the start and ask the tutor when full mock papers will begin.
Children in Vasai, Nalasopara and Virar mostly study under the Maharashtra State Board, CBSE or CISCE, and we also find tutors for IB and IGCSE students. Knowing the board comes before anything else, since a tutor who has taught one set of papers for years may be unfamiliar with the next.
| Board | The exams that matter | Worth checking with a tutor |
|---|---|---|
| Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) | SSC at the end of Class 10; HSC at the end of Class 12 in Science, Commerce or Arts. Schools teach in Marathi medium, English medium and others. | Can you teach from the state textbook in my child's medium, and which chapters will take longest? |
| CBSE | Class 10 and Class 12 board papers built on NCERT books, with questions that ask students to use a concept in a new setting. | How many full written answers will my child attempt each week, and who marks them? |
| CISCE: ICSE and ISC | ICSE at Class 10 and ISC at Class 12, with a broad subject list, long answers, set English texts and projects. | How will the term's revision be split so that no paper is left for the final fortnight? |
| IB Diploma or Cambridge IGCSE | IB adds coursework (the Internal Assessment and Extended Essay) to final papers; IGCSE preparation rests on past papers and their mark schemes. | How do you comment on drafts without writing any part of them? |
The state board holds its examinations through divisional boards. Its own SSC March 2024 results statistics place Palghar district under the Mumbai division, alongside Thane, Raigad and Greater Mumbai, so Vasai-Virar, in Palghar district, falls under the board's Mumbai division. Timetables, results and circulars change each year, and the reliable copy is the one on mahahsscboard.in, not a screenshot in a group chat. For more detail, see Maharashtra Board tutors in Vasai-Virar, CBSE tutors in Vasai-Virar and ICSE tutors in Vasai-Virar. IB and IGCSE students are usually do well with a specialist teaching online.
Young children gain most from rhythm: homework done each day, a page read aloud, tables recalled without fingers. When a child switches from Marathi medium to English medium, a patient tutor can add English words week by week while keeping maths ideas firm in the language the child already trusts. Watch fractions, negative numbers and the first algebra in Classes 6 to 8; trouble there grows quietly.
Maths gets faster and science splits into separate subjects. On the State Board, algebra and geometry are taught as distinct pieces of work, and many students like one and dread the other, so name the weaker half. Ideally Class 9 settles the hard chapters, leaving Class 10 for revision and timed papers. CBSE students can also use our Class 10 maths plan and Class 10 science notes.
HSC science brings long physics numericals and a jump in chemistry and maths; HSC commerce may need accounts, economics or maths, and few tutors are equally strong in all three. A separate specialist for each difficult subject tends to work better than one tutor stretched across everything. Final-year students may find our Class 12 physics strategies and calculus and algebra guide useful.
From Class 6 onwards most requests are for maths and science, yet tutors on NXTutors cover English, Marathi, Hindi, history and geography, computer science, accounts, economics and business studies as well, and for a primary child one tutor can usually handle the lot. The core subjects each have a Vasai-Virar page of their own: maths, science, physics, chemistry, biology and English.
You can spot subject knowledge quickly. A good maths tutor traces a mistake back to where it began, sometimes a year earlier, instead of redoing the sum neatly. A science tutor gets the child to describe an idea in words, or shows it with a drawing or a kitchen-table experiment, before any formula appears. A chemistry tutor treats equations, reactions and numericals as one subject, as our Class 12 organic and inorganic chemistry guide does. English worries many families here: look for someone who works on comprehension, grammar inside real sentences and the letter-writing the board paper asks for. And do not forget the second language. A child in an English-medium school may still take Hindi or Marathi, and those marks count just as much.
Most HSC science students here are aiming at an entrance test too. MHT-CET, Maharashtra's common entrance test for professional courses, is run by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, which posts its notices on cetcell.mahacet.org. The National Testing Agency conducts JEE Main, for engineering, and NEET (UG), for medicine; dates and rules for each year are in the bulletins on nta.ac.in and nowhere else. Give a home tutor a defined role next to school and any batch:
For a future medical student, ask how the tutor ties board biology to NEET-style questions and handles long diagrams. Our pages on JEE tutors in Vasai-Virar and NEET tutors in Vasai-Virar say more. Trust the plan a tutor lays out, never a promise about ranks.
There is no single right answer. Home visits suit younger children, students who lose focus on a screen and any subject where you want to see the working written out. Video lessons bring in tutors from across India, which matters for IB, IGCSE, an unusual ISC elective or high-level problem solving. Some points specific to this city:
Online lessons go smoothly with a quiet spot, a reliable connection, one exercise book per subject and the camera left on, with a parent close by for the opening weeks. A common pattern is home visits on weekdays and a brief video check the night before a test, all with one tutor. See online tuition in Vasai-Virar and our home and online tutoring comparison.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Tutors set their own fees, not NXTutors, and every fee on your shortlist is visible before you book the demo. To compare fairly, ask each tutor:
Spend where the worry is greatest. A strong tutor for the one subject that is slipping usually achieves more than four tutors on thin hours. We keep within the budget you name. The pricing guide breaks this down by class, and our post on home tuition fees in Vasai-Virar adds local detail.
Profiles narrow the field; a real lesson settles it. Listen in from the next room, or talk to your child after, and check:
The evening before, send the neighbourhood with East or West, the building, wing and flat, and a pinned location. Hold lessons in a shared room while an adult is at home. Our demo class checklist for parents goes further.
You can start in any month, though the job changes as the school year moves on:
CBSE and CISCE schools keep their own calendars, which can differ from the State Board's.
Send us the class, board and subjects, your neighbourhood with East or West and one landmark, and the free hours in your child's week. Compare the two or three tutors we put forward, with their fees, and pick one for the free demo. Decide once that lesson is over. If you prefer to look first, open your neighbourhood from the list on this page, read tutor profiles or go straight to a free demo class. Where no home tutor lives close enough yet, an online tutor can start right away.
Our Vasai-Virar home tuition guide goes through all six zones in more depth, from Naigaon and Vasai through Nalasopara to Virar and Arnala.

Tutors set their own fees, by class, subject and experience. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. You see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
No. NXTutors has no coaching centre, batch or classroom in Vasai, Nalasopara or Virar. We find one tutor who teaches your child alone, at your home or online, on the Maharashtra State Board, CBSE or ICSE. You receive two or three matched tutors, see each fee before the free demo class, and switching tutor later is free.
Neither suits every child; it depends on what your child is missing. A tuition class teaches a group at one pace and shares the cost between families, while a home tutor works only on your child's gaps, in Marathi, Hindi or English as needed, and on your side of the railway line. Many families in Vasai and Virar try one-to-one teaching first through the free demo class.
Tutors currently cover 20 areas of Vasai-Virar, including Achole, Agashi, Arnala, Bolinj, Chandansar. Each area page lists the tutors nearest to it.
CBSE, ICSE and ISC, IB and IGCSE for Classes 6 to 12, plus JEE and NEET preparation, at home or online.
Yes. The first session is a free demo class, so you can judge the tutor's teaching style before deciding. If the fit is not right, we suggest another tutor.
