Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

ICSE families in Vasai, Nalasopara and Virar tend to meet two practical questions. A tutor who knows the CISCE papers well may not live in the next building, and at the end of Class 10 students face a real choice between staying with ISC and moving to a State Board junior college. This page explains how the ICSE and ISC papers are built, where a tutor changes marks, how to make the Class 11 decision, and how to arrange lessons across six localities. Abhinandan Tiwary's notes cover ICSE maths, Aaditya Kashyap's cover the sciences, and Ajay Vatsyayan's cover ISC maths.
Children across Vasai-Virar study under the Maharashtra State Board, CBSE and ICSE, in Marathi or English medium. We do not publish how many follow each, because we have no reliable figures. For tuition, the practical point is that a tutor who knows the SSC well may not know how a CISCE examiner reads an answer. ICSE papers expect clear, complete English in almost every subject, and they mark the method as well as the result.
That is why we ask ICSE families to name the board clearly in the request, and why the demo should include a short written answer from a CISCE-style question. A tutor who has taught ICSE recently will mark it differently from one who has not, and you will see the difference.
| Group | What it holds | How it is marked |
|---|---|---|
| Group I | Compulsory subjects | 80 for the written paper, 20 for internal assessment |
| Group II | Two or three subjects chosen from the council's Group II list | 80 written, 20 internal |
| Group III | One subject chosen from the Group III list | 50 written, 50 internal |
Internal marks are a fifth of most subjects and half of the Group III subject. They are earned through the year, in assignments, practical work and projects, so a tutor who only prepares for the final paper is missing part of the job. Ask early which internal tasks are due each term.
ICSE Mathematics is a single 80-mark written paper with 20 internal marks, earned from at least two assignments that the teacher and an external examiner both mark. The habit to build is full working: marks are given for correct steps, so a student who writes only the answer leaves marks behind even when the answer is right.
A tutor should set mixed practice from Class 9, not just chapter by chapter, because the paper mixes topics too. For more on the subject, see maths home tutors in Vasai-Virar and our guide to ICSE and ISC maths, written for Gurugram but organised around the same CISCE papers.
ICSE does not combine the sciences. Physics, chemistry and biology are each an 80-mark written paper, with 20 marks for practical work assessed in school. The consequence is easy to miss: a student can be strong in one and quietly weak in another, and three separate papers make that gap show up in the results.
| Paper | Common slip | Tutor's fix |
|---|---|---|
| Physics | Numericals with no formula line or missing units | A fixed layout: given, formula, substitution, answer with unit |
| Chemistry | Equations not balanced; observations written as conclusions | Short equation drills; separating what is seen from what is inferred |
| Biology | Diagrams unlabelled or labelled loosely | Weekly labelled diagrams, checked against the textbook's terms |
Our Vasai-Virar physics, chemistry and biology pages go further into each subject.
Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati and other languages are spoken at home across Vasai-Virar, and many ICSE students think in one language and write in another. That is not a weakness, but it does mean answers in history, geography and the sciences need practice in clear English sentences. Tutors can help with a simple routine: read the question aloud, say the answer in your own words, then write it in two or three short sentences using the textbook's terms. Our English home tutors in Vasai-Virar page covers the English papers themselves.
| Part of the year | Main work | What parents can check |
|---|---|---|
| First term | New chapters in maths and the three sciences; internal assignments started, not left | Is each assignment drafted before its due date? |
| Second term | Remaining chapters; first full papers in the weakest subject; practical records completed | Are practical files signed and complete? |
| Pre-board months | Timed papers in every subject, each one marked against the CISCE style | Are marks rising in the subject that lagged? |
| Final weeks | Short revision rounds: formulae, equations, labelled diagrams, key dates in history | Is the child sleeping and eating normally? |
Revising in several short rounds works better than one long sweep at the end. Each round should be quicker than the last, and each should finish with a few questions from past papers, so the student keeps practising in the form the examiner will see.
This is the decision many ICSE families in Vasai-Virar weigh. Some students stay with CISCE for ISC in Classes 11 and 12; others move to a junior college for the HSC. Neither is the right answer for everyone, so compare the two on facts.
| Point | ISC | Maharashtra HSC |
|---|---|---|
| Subjects | English plus three to five electives, at most six in all | Languages, two compulsory subjects (Health and Physical Education; Environment Education and Water Security) and optional subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics and Statistics |
| Science paper style | Long written answers, as in ICSE | Four sections per the board's pattern, from one-mark items to four-mark answers; log tables allowed, no calculator |
| Change for the student | Same council, familiar style | New textbooks, new paper style, often a new institution |
If your child moves to the HSC, a tutor can bridge the first term: the state textbook's wording, the four-section paper and calculator-free arithmetic. Our Maharashtra Board tutors in Vasai-Virar page explains the HSC.
ISC science students aiming at JEE or NEET should map the ISC chapter order against the entrance syllabus at the start of Class 11. See the JEE and NEET home tutor pages for Vasai-Virar, and our ISC maths tutor page.
| Locality | What helps |
|---|---|
| Nalasopara West | Name the neighbourhood, such as Nirmal, with building and wing; tutors on this side of the station are easier to keep |
| Nalasopara East | Add Tulinj or Santosh Bhuvan if that is how your address reads |
| Bolinj | Bolinj Naka or the road name; tutors near Virar station on the west side can often come |
| Arnala | Ask for a tutor with a vehicle, and plan online lessons for ISC electives |
| Chandansar | Colony, building and Chandansar Road; evening slots fill first |
| Manvelpada | The lake as a landmark; give both spellings |
The Nalasopara, Virar West and Virar East zone pages have more detail, and the Vasai-Virar home tutors page lists every locality.
When no CISCE specialist lives close by, online lessons fill the gap. A common pattern is a home tutor for ICSE maths or physics, where working must be watched, and an online specialist for an ISC elective that nobody nearby teaches. For written subjects, ask the online tutor to mark answers on a shared copy, so comments stay with the work and can be reread before the next test. Our online tuition in Vasai-Virar page explains how to set it up, and the ICSE home tutors in Mumbai page may help if a tutor from further down the Western line suits you.
If the fit is wrong, ask for another demo; switching tutor later is free. The demo class checklist has more ideas.

Sometimes, but check first, because a tutor who knows the SSC well may not mark an answer the way a CISCE examiner does. ICSE papers expect complete English answers and reward each correct step of method. Ask for a short marked answer in the demo, and consider online lessons for subjects nobody nearby teaches.
Under the 2027 regulations, Group I subjects are compulsory and Group II has two or three chosen subjects, both marked 80 written and 20 internal. Group III has one subject marked 50 written and 50 internal. Internal marks build up through the year, so assignments should be started early.
No, the ICSE examines physics, chemistry and biology as three separate 80-mark papers, each with 20 marks for practical work in school. A student can be strong in one and weak in another, and separate papers make that gap visible. A tutor should test all three regularly, not only the favourite.
Compare the two on facts, because neither suits every student. ISC keeps the familiar CISCE style, with English plus three to five electives. The HSC brings new textbooks and a four-section paper with no calculator. If your child moves, a tutor can bridge the first term on wording and paper style.
Subjects cannot be changed after a set date in the Class 11 registration year, and a Class 12 subject must be studied in Class 11. Promotion needs 35% in four subjects including English and 75% attendance. Practicals are compulsory, and Physics cannot be taken with Engineering Science.
ISC Mathematics carries 80 marks for the theory paper and 20 for a project. Starting the project early keeps it from crowding out revision in the final months. ISC students aiming at JEE should also map the ISC chapter order against the entrance syllabus at the start of Class 11.
Yes, and online lessons often make sense for an ISC elective that no nearby tutor teaches. One option is a home tutor for maths or physics and an online specialist for the elective. Ask the online tutor to mark written answers on a shared copy, so the comments can be reread before tests.
Revise in several short rounds rather than one long sweep before the exam. Each round should be quicker than the last and end with a few past-paper questions. Keep internal assignments and practical files up to date through the year, so the final months can go to timed papers.
