Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Families in Vasai, Nalasopara and Virar usually start the JEE question in the same place: should the child join a coaching batch, take a home tutor, or do both? There is no single right answer, because a batch and a tutor do different jobs. This page sets out what each one does well, what the JEE papers ask for, how the Maharashtra Board HSC science papers sit beside them, and how to fit a tutor into a week that already includes junior college, the train and homework. The national JEE home tutor page goes deeper into the exam itself.
A coaching batch gives structure. The chapter order is fixed, tests come round regularly, and a student sits among others working towards the same exam. What a batch cannot do is slow down for one person. If your child loses the thread in rotational motion or in limits, the class still moves to the next chapter on schedule.
A one-to-one tutor works the other way round. The lesson starts from your child's own notebook: the problem left half done, the test where marks leaked away, the chapter that never made sense. NXTutors only arranges one-to-one tutors, at home or online; we do not run batches. So the honest comparison looks like this:
| Question | Coaching batch | One-to-one tutor |
|---|---|---|
| Who sets the pace? | The class plan | Your child's progress, agreed with the tutor |
| What happens to a doubt? | It waits for a doubt slot, or is never asked | It is the first thing in the next lesson |
| Regular tests | Built in | Set from past NTA papers, if you ask for them |
| HSC board answers and the practical journal | Usually outside the batch's focus | Can be planned into the week |
| Travel | The student goes to the class | The tutor comes home, or the lesson is online |
Many students end up using both: the batch for pace and tests, the tutor for doubts and for the subject that lags. Others, especially those who work well alone, use a tutor with school or junior college and nothing more. A longer comparison sits in our post on JEE coaching versus a home tutor; its examples come from Gurugram, yet the split of jobs between class and tutor holds in Palghar district as well.
JEE (Main) is conducted by the National Testing Agency. Its 2026 information bulletin described Paper 1 as taken on a computer, covering maths, physics and chemistry. There were 25 questions per subject, 20 of them multiple-choice and 5 needing a numerical answer, giving 75 questions and 300 marks. A correct answer earned four marks and a wrong one lost a mark. There were two sessions, the better score counted, and the paper was offered in 13 languages.
JEE (Advanced) comes next for candidates who qualify through Main under its brochure's rules. The 2026 brochure set two compulsory papers, available in English and Hindi, and allowed no more than two tries, which had to fall in consecutive years. Any of this may be revised, so the bulletin on jeemain.nta.nic.in and the brochure on jeeadv.ac.in are the documents to trust, not a summary on this or any other site.
Most students in Vasai-Virar who aim at JEE are on the Maharashtra State Board, and the HSC science papers ask for something different from an entrance test. The board's evaluation pattern for physics, chemistry and biology divides each paper into four sections: ten one-mark multiple-choice questions and eight very short answers, then a choice of eight out of twelve two-mark questions, eight out of twelve three-mark questions and three out of five four-mark long answers. Log tables are allowed and calculators are not, and the answer to each multiple-choice question has to be written out along with its letter.
Two habits follow. First, a JEE student who only marks options for months can lose easy board marks through missing steps and units, so one written board answer a week is worth keeping. Second, arithmetic without a calculator needs practice; the JEE computer-based test gives no calculator either, so this habit helps both papers.
The board's Standard XII chemistry scheme shows where its 70 theory marks sit: 26 for physical chemistry, 17 for inorganic, 18 for organic and 9 for applied chemistry, which covers biomolecules, polymers, and green chemistry and nanochemistry. The same scheme makes the Balbharati practical notebook-cum-journal compulsory, so the journal needs steady attention through the year. Our Maharashtra Board tutors in Vasai-Virar page covers the HSC in more depth.
The towns of Vasai-Virar sit along the Western line, and many junior-college students spend part of the day on the train or a city bus. A tutor slot has to survive that. Before asking for a tutor, write the college timetable, any batch timetable and the travel home side by side, and look for the hour that never moves.
| Slot | Good for | Local point |
|---|---|---|
| Early morning before college | A focused home lesson in the weakest subject | The tutor reaches you before the day's travel starts |
| Weekend morning | A full practice paper, reviewed that evening | Easier for tutors coming from the other side of the railway line |
| Late evening after the batch | A brief online session on the day's unsolved questions | No one has to travel after a long day |
| Batch test weeks | Review only, no new chapters | Keeps the tutor and the batch from pulling in two directions |
If your child's college runs a morning or an afternoon session, say which one in the request, because it decides the tuition hour. The zone pages for Nalasopara, Virar West and Virar East have more timing notes.
Two years is a long time to keep a tutor. The ones who last are usually the ones whose journey to you is short and simple, on the same side of the tracks. Here is what to send for six localities in the middle and north of the city.
| Locality | Who can usually reach you | What to send before the demo |
|---|---|---|
| Nalasopara West | Tutors living on the west side of Nalla Sopara station | Neighbourhood, building, wing and flat number |
| Achole | Tutors from Nalasopara East, Tulinj or Santosh Bhuvan | Achole Road or Achole Cross Road with the building name, plus a map pin |
| Bolinj | Tutors living near Virar station on the west side | Bolinj Naka or the nearest road, building and wing |
| Agashi | Tutors with a vehicle, often from Bolinj | House name, the road and a neighbour's name; ask about online for some lessons |
| Chandansar | Tutors living in Virar East | Colony first, then building, wing and Chandansar Road |
| Phoolpada | Tutors from either side of Virar station | Both spellings, Phoolpada and Phulpada, and the lane off Phool Pada Road |
Every locality is listed on the Vasai-Virar home tutors page, and the Vasai-Virar home tuition guide describes each of the six zones from Naigaon up to Arnala.
| Subject | Usual format | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Physics | At home | Most mistakes start with the set-up; the tutor needs to watch which idea your child reaches for |
| Mathematics | Mostly at home; mock-test reviews can be online | Calculus and coordinate work run over pages, while going over a marked test works fine with both people looking at one screen |
| Chemistry | Inorganic and organic recall online; physical chemistry at home if the numericals are weak | Quick, regular recall quizzes work well on a call |
For Advanced-level problem solving, the right person may well live in Pune or Mumbai and teach over video, and that option matters most in the village-side parts of Virar West. With online maths or physics, the tutor must see the working itself, so set up a second phone over the page or use a pen tablet. More on this is in online tuition in Vasai-Virar and in our post weighing a home tutor against an online one.
The step up from the SSC is steep, in vectors and mechanics, in early calculus and in mole calculations. Junior college also brings a new timetable and larger classes. Start an error notebook in the first month; Class 12 chapters lean heavily on Class 11.
Fresh chapters, Class 11 revision, mock papers, HSC theory and the journal all want the same months. In June, agree with the tutor which months are kept for HSC writing practice and journal work, so they are not squeezed out in January.
Start with an honest audit of last year's attempt: which chapters cost marks, and whether the cause was concepts, speed or careless slips. A free daytime opens up more tutors. Confirm eligibility in this year's documents first.
For physics in entrance depth, read physics tutors for JEE; for the school and board side there are Vasai-Virar maths, physics and chemistry pages.
Not convinced? Ask us for a different tutor's demo; changing tutors at any later point costs nothing. Our demo class checklist has more questions to ask.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors fix their own rates, and every rate is on screen before any demo is booked. Read the pricing guide, or our Vasai-Virar tuition fees post for local detail.
Tell us the class, the board, which subjects, both timetables and your locality with a landmark. You get two or three matched tutors to compare, and each one's first lesson is a free demo. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how we check tutors). Prefer to look first? Browse tutor profiles. Students aiming at medicine should read our Vasai-Virar NEET tutors page, and teachers will find open requests on Vasai-Virar tuition jobs.
The answer depends on whether your child needs pace and company or close attention to their own gaps. A batch sets the chapter order and runs tests; a home tutor starts from your child's unfinished problems and weak subject. Many Vasai-Virar students use both. NXTutors arranges one-to-one tutors only, at home or online, and never runs batches.

Send the class, board, subjects, the college and any batch timetable, and your locality with a landmark such as Bolinj Naka or Achole Road. We reply with two or three matched tutors, each fee shown up front. The first lesson is a free demo, and you can switch tutor later at no cost.
Yes, and a good tutor plans for the HSC from the first month of Class 11. The board's science papers want written steps, units and diagrams, with log tables allowed but no calculator. Ask the tutor to set one written board answer each week beside the multiple-choice and numerical practice.
The 2026 bulletin set Paper 1 as a computer-based test with 25 questions each in maths, physics and chemistry. In each subject, 20 questions were multiple-choice and 5 needed a numerical answer, for 300 marks in all. A right answer earned four marks and a wrong one lost one. Check jeemain.nta.nic.in for the current year.
Many Maharashtra students sit MHT-CET as well, and the overlap in chapters makes it manageable. The test is run by the State CET Cell, so read its rules only on cetcell.mahacet.org. A tutor can share most practice between the two and add separate timed papers for the state test closer to the exam.
Early mornings before college and weekend mornings are the slots most likely to hold all year. A short online session late in the evening suits fresh doubts after a batch. Tell the tutor whether your child's college runs a morning or afternoon session, because that usually fixes the hour.
Often it is, because the village-side parts of Virar West are spread out and fewer tutors live close by. A common plan is a home tutor from Bolinj for physics and online lessons for chemistry or test review. Online also widens the choice to specialists teaching from Mumbai or Pune.
Start an error notebook in the first month and keep it all through Class 11. Mechanics, early calculus and mole calculations are where the step up from the SSC feels steepest. Junior college brings a new timetable too, so fix the tutor slot before the first unit tests arrive.
Yes, switching tutor later is free, and you can ask for another demo before you commit. Tell us what did not work, such as pace, language or travel, so the next match fits better. Tutors who join go through an ID check, and the badge appears only after that check is complete.
