Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Whether you live in Vasai, Nalasopara or Virar, the maths problem in most homes looks much the same: the school covers a chapter, the homework comes back half done, and nobody has time to sit and find the exact line where the method broke. A home tutor fills that gap, but only one who knows your child's paper: State Board SSC or HSC, CBSE, ICSE, ISC or an international course. Tell NXTutors the class, the board, the school medium and your neighbourhood. You get a shortlist of two or three maths tutors, their fees visible up front, and the opening lesson with the one you pick is a free demo.
The board-exam advice on this page is signed by two authors: Abhinandan Tiwary wrote the CBSE and ICSE Class 10 parts, and Ajay Vatsyayan the ISC, IB and IGCSE parts. Everything about the State Board comes from its published subject list and marking schemes. Vasai-Virar lies in Palghar district, which the board places in its Mumbai division. Find your child's row; the last column is a fair question for any tutor who calls you.
| Paper | Set by | How it is marked | Ask the tutor |
|---|---|---|---|
| SSC Mathematics, Standard X | State Board | Two papers of 40 (Part I, Part II) and 20 from school | How do you stop one part falling behind the other? |
| HSC Mathematics & Statistics (Arts and Science) | State Board | One written paper worth 80, in four sections | Which chapters carry the most marks, and when will you start them? |
| HSC Maths & Stat. (Commerce) | State Board | A separate commerce subject with its own scheme | Have you taught the commerce paper, not only the science one? |
| CBSE Class 10 (Standard or Basic) | Central Board of Secondary Education | 80 on the board paper, 20 from school | Standard or Basic for my child: what would decide it? |
| ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) | Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations | 80 written; 20 internal or project | Are your notes from this exam year's syllabus? |
| IB Diploma or Cambridge IGCSE | IB / Cambridge | IB: exams and an exploration. IGCSE: Core or Extended tier | Have you taught this exact course lately? |
The SSC, at the end of Standard X, is conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. In the scheme for Standards IX and X, Mathematics is subject 71, and the board splits it into Part I and Part II, sat as two papers of 40 marks apiece; and the school adds 20 internal marks. A strong Part I cannot rescue a weak Part II, since each is scored on its own.
In practice the tutor should give each part its own weekday and its own section of the notebook. If school is rushing through one part this term, the other is kept warm with a short weekly set. Geometry needs special care: every step of a proof or construction carries its reason in writing, because a neat figure with no reasons earns little. Practice starts with the board's textbook and then the sample question papers a student can open after logging in on mahahsscboard.in. Starting in Standard IX, rather than midway through Standard X, frees the last months for revision. For the remaining SSC subjects, open the Maharashtra Board tutors in Vasai-Virar page.
On the board's subject list, the Arts and Science course is "Mathematics & Statistics (For Arts and Science)", code 40. Its Standard XII evaluation scheme puts a mark value on every chapter, internal options included, and Part I and Part II come to 56 apiece. Here are the chapters, heaviest first within each part:
| Part | Chapter (marks with option) | Tutoring note |
|---|---|---|
| Part I | Vectors 12; Trigonometric Functions 10; Line and Plane 10 | Three-dimensional pictures drawn by hand before any formula |
| Part I | Mathematical Logic 8; Matrices 6; Pair of Straight Lines 6; Linear Programming 4 | Truth tables and feasible regions set out neatly, as the examiner reads them |
| Part II | Indefinite Integration 10; Differentiation 9; Applications of Derivatives 9; Differential Equations 8 | A few calculus problems in every session, all year |
| Part II | Definite Integration 6; Probability Distributions 5; Binomial Distribution 5; Application of Definite Integration 4 | Short chapters practised often, so no easy marks slip away |
Add up Part II and almost all of it is calculus: 46 of its 56 marks. A student who treats differentiation in Standard XI as something to get through, rather than to master, usually pays for it across half the Standard XII paper. The scheme also hints at how to teach: about 30% of questions check knowledge, 42% understanding and 28% application and skill, with theory capped at 15%. The hours belong to solved problems, not memorised proofs.
The paper totals 80 marks over four sections. Section A mixes eight two-mark multiple-choice items with four one-mark very short answers; Sections B and C each print twelve questions and want eight, at two and three marks; Section D prints eight four-mark questions and wants five. Mocks at home should copy the board's rules: each section on a fresh page, log tables but no calculator, and every multiple-choice letter written once, since only the first attempt is evaluated. Include the moments spent choosing questions in the timed mock, so that choice is calm on the day.
Yes. The board lists "Maths & Stat. (Commerce)" apart from the Arts and Science course, under code 88, so its chapters and paper differ from those above. Ask a maths tutor plainly whether they have taught the commerce course recently, read its current scheme on mahahsscboard.in, and if a second subject is needed, say so in the same request so we can suggest separate tutors.
Science students in Standards XI and XII often have MHT-CET, JEE Main or both in view. MHT-CET, Maharashtra's common entrance test for professional courses, is the State CET Cell's exam; read its syllabus and pattern on cetcell.mahacet.org. The National Testing Agency runs JEE Main. In 2026, maths in Paper 1 meant 25 questions, 20 multiple-choice and 5 numerical-value, marked +4 when correct and −1 when wrong; each new pattern appears on jeemain.nta.nic.in.
A workable week holds one session of full board answers, marked line by line, and one timed objective set whose misses go into an error log for a retry a week later. Where coaching classes already fill part of the week, the home tutor takes the problems left unsolved from the coaching sheet and keeps written board answers sharp. Read JEE coaching or a home tutor, open the JEE home tutor in Vasai-Virar page, and use our Class 12 calculus and algebra guide with the Class 12 maths tutor page.
CBSE Class 10 maths for 2026-27 puts 80 board marks across seven units: algebra 20, geometry 15, trigonometry 12 (heights and distances included), statistics with probability 11, mensuration 10, coordinate geometry 6 and real numbers 6. The school gives the remaining 20, and calculators stay outside the hall. Standard and Basic cover one set of chapters, yet Basic is weighted far more towards recall, so anyone thinking of maths after Class 10 belongs in Standard. CBSE also runs a second, optional Class 10 sitting in which a student may try to raise marks in as many as three subjects; its timetable comes only from cbse.gov.in.
In CBSE Class 12, every one of the 38 questions is compulsory for 80 marks, and calculus is worth 35. Our Class 10 maths preparation guide and board-year planner work chapter by chapter; see also the Class 10 maths tutor page and, for other subjects, the CBSE home tutor in Vasai-Virar page.
Teachers for these courses are fewer in Vasai-Virar than State Board teachers, so name the course in your very first message. An online specialist for the course plus a nearby tutor who checks written practice is a common pairing.
Vasai-Virar is a long city on both sides of the Western line, from Naigaon in the south through Vasai and Nalasopara to Virar in the north, and many neighbourhoods have an East and a West across the tracks. Six neighbourhoods from the southern half of the city show the kind of detail that helps; every locality has its own page on our Vasai-Virar page.
Manickpur is close to the old heart of Vasai, and one family may have a primary child on the State Board and a teenager on CBSE or ICSE; name both boards in one request. Mention the cricket ground and both spellings, Manickpur and Manikpur. In Papdy, write Papdy and Papdi, name Papdy Road, and say whether you live in an older house or an apartment block.
Vasant Nagari is large, and some buildings use Vasai East while others use Nalasopara East, so write the neighbourhood first and then the one your building uses. In Gokhivare, also spelt Gokhiware, the lake is the reference point most people know; Classes 6 to 8 here are the moment to settle fractions and early algebra before the SSC years.
Always say Naigaon East rather than plain Naigaon, add the project, wing and flat, and leave time after the school bus before the lesson. Juchandra, on the eastern edge, has fewer tutors living inside it, so two fixed weekdays agreed in advance, or one online lesson a week, keep maths regular.
Families further north will find the same advice applied to Nalasopara, Virar West and Virar East in our Vasai-Virar home tuition guide, and the zone pages for Vasai West, Vasai East and Naigaon add local tips.
Marathi, Hindi and Gujarati are all spoken at home across Vasai-Virar, and children study in Marathi-medium and English-medium schools; the State Board recognises both. Word problems are where a language gap shows: the sums are right, but the question was misread. Let the tutor explain a hard idea in whichever language makes it click, and then hold the written answer to the textbook's terms in the language of the paper. Put both languages in your request, and in the demo look at what goes into the notebook, not only what is said aloud.
Have the latest school test and the current notebook ready, and ask for a lesson on this week's chapter rather than a prepared show. Four signs are worth watching:
Not convinced? Let us know, and another shortlisted tutor holds a demo; switching tutor later in the year costs nothing either. For more questions to ask, use our demo class checklist for parents; to weigh a mixed plan, read home tutor or online tutor.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee, which tends to follow the course, their experience of it, the trip to your neighbourhood and how many sessions a week you want. Fees sit on the shortlist before any demo, and the Vasai-Virar home tuition fees guide lists questions worth asking.
Tell us your neighbourhood with East or West and a landmark, your child's class and exact course (SSC, HSC Mathematics & Statistics, commerce maths, CBSE Standard and so on), any entrance test planned, the school medium and home language, and which evenings are free. A shortlist of two or three maths tutors arrives with fees, and one of them gives a free demo. When nobody suitable can come at your hour, the fallback is an online or part-online plan, explained under online tutors for Vasai-Virar. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works). Our office is in Sector 66, Gurugram, and online lessons reach every part of India. Nearby, see maths tutors in Mumbai or the Mumbai hub; the national maths home tutor guide explains matching, and the Vasai-Virar physics and science pages cover related subjects.
If you teach maths and live in Vasai-Virar, current requests from families near you are listed on the Vasai-Virar tuition jobs page.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each Vasai-Virar maths tutor sets their own fee, and you see it on the shortlist before any demo. Ask how many sessions a week they suggest and whether one could move online in exam weeks.
Send the class, the exact maths course, any entrance test, the school medium, your neighbourhood with East or West and a landmark, and your free hours. NXTutors replies with two or three matched maths tutors and their fees. The first class with the one you choose is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.
SSC maths needs two plans because the State Board writes Mathematics as Part I and Part II, two papers of 40 marks each, with 20 internal marks from school. Each part is scored on its own, so a tutor should give each a fixed weekday and keep both moving from Standard IX onwards.
A Vasai-Virar HSC student should never leave vectors or the calculus chapters till last. Vectors carries 12 marks with options, the largest single chapter, and calculus makes up 46 of the 56 marks in Part II. A weak start with differentiation in Standard XI usually shows up across half the Standard XII paper.
No calculator is allowed in the HSC Mathematics and Statistics paper, although log tables are permitted. That is why a tutor should keep hand arithmetic in every session all year. Only the first attempt at a multiple-choice answer is evaluated, and each of the four sections starts on a new page.
No, HSC commerce maths is a separate subject: the board lists Maths and Stat. (Commerce) under code 88, apart from the Arts and Science course, code 40. Ask a Vasai-Virar tutor whether they have taught the commerce course recently, and read its current scheme on mahahsscboard.in before planning.
Vasai-Virar lies in Palghar district, which the Maharashtra State Board places in its Mumbai division. The board's syllabus and sample papers apply across the whole state, so tutors should work from the board textbook and the sample question papers on mahahsscboard.in rather than older guidebooks.
A home maths tutor helps alongside coaching classes by solving the leftover sheet problems slowly and keeping written board answers sharp. In 2026, JEE Main Paper 1 had 25 maths questions, five of them numerical, scored plus four and minus one. MHT-CET is run by the State CET Cell, so check its pattern on cetcell.mahacet.org.
Parents in these three neighbourhoods should mention spellings, East or West and a clear landmark. In Manickpur, add Manikpur and the cricket ground. In Vasant Nagari, write the neighbourhood and then Vasai East or Nalasopara East, as your building does. In Naigaon East, always say East, and leave time after the school bus.
Yes, a maths tutor can explain in Marathi, Hindi or Gujarati when that is how your child thinks. Written answers should still use the textbook terms in the language of the paper. Word problems are where language gaps show most, so mention both the home language and the school medium in your request.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
