Tutoring in Vasai-Virar: what to know
NXTutors splits Vasai-Virar into six zones for tutors, and they follow the names families actually use. Vasai West covers Manickpur, Papdy, Chulne and Sandor; Vasai East takes in Vasant Nagari, Gokhivare and Waliv; Naigaon has Naigaon East, Naigaon West and Juchandra; Nalasopara groups Nalasopara West, Nalasopara East, Samel Pada and Achole; Virar West runs from Bolinj out to Agashi and Arnala; and Virar East holds Chandansar, Manvelpada and Phoolpada. The Western line runs through the middle of the city, so East or West matters in every address, and a tutor on the same side of the tracks usually finds a weekly visit far easier to keep.
Students here mostly sit the Maharashtra State Board's SSC at Class 10 and HSC at Class 12, or study on CBSE or CISCE, while the few on IB or IGCSE tend to take their lessons on video. Schools teach in Marathi medium and English medium, and Marathi, Hindi and Gujarati are all spoken at home across Vasai-Virar, so a child may think in one language and write papers in another. Put the media and languages you teach in on your profile. If you also teach at coaching classes in Vasai, Nalasopara or Virar, list only the hours you can truly keep free for one-to-one students.
You can teach in students' homes, online or both. Picture a request from a family in Achole: the two or three names they receive come first from tutors living in Achole, then from tutors who already teach there, then from the Nalasopara zone, the rest of Vasai-Virar and, last, online. Families see your fee before the opening class, which is a free demo, and they can move to another tutor later at no cost. Several neighbourhoods sit at the edges of the city, such as Juchandra, Chulne, Agashi and Arnala, and families there often welcome a tutor with a vehicle or one who can mix home visits with video lessons.

1
Sign up with a one-time code
Sign up and confirm your phone number or email with a one-time code. Add the subjects, classes and boards you teach, for example the State Board's SSC and HSC, CBSE or ICSE, your teaching medium and the Vasai-Virar neighbourhoods you can reach.
-
2
Upload your ID for the ID check
Next, upload a government photo ID. Every new tutor does this ID check; its only purpose is to confirm your identity, and nobody runs a police or background check.
-
3
Your profile carries the Verified badge
Your profile shows families the boards you teach, the neighbourhoods you travel to, for instance Nalasopara West up to Bolinj, the hours you have open and your own fee. The Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete.

A family nearby sends a request
Suppose a family in Vasant Nagari asks for help. NXTutors suggests two or three tutors, looking first at those who live in Vasant Nagari, then at those already teaching there, then at the Vasai East zone, the rest of the city and online.

5
Free demo; the family sees your fee first
Nothing is booked until the family has seen your fee. The first lesson is free for them, takes place at their home with a parent around, and shows you where the student stands and which evenings are really open.

Teach at home, online or both
After the demo you might teach at homes in your chosen neighbourhoods, take students across Maharashtra or India on video, or combine the two, such as weekday visits in Virar East and a Sunday session online.
Boards you can teach in Vasai-Virar
In Vasai-Virar you will mostly meet State Board students working towards SSC or HSC, and CBSE students; a smaller group is on ICSE or ISC, and IB and IGCSE students generally prefer video lessons. State-board timetables, results and circulars belong on mahahsscboard.in and nowhere else. For CBSE, work from NCERT and the board's own sample papers; for ICSE and ISC, from the CISCE regulations on cisce.org; for IB and Cambridge, from the official subject guides. Your profile should name every board you take, with classes and teaching medium.
MSBSH
SSC (Class 10); HSC (Class 12)
The board conducts the SSC examination at Class 10 and the HSC examination at Class 12, in the Science, Commerce and Arts streams, and works through divisional boards. In its own SSC March 2024 results statistics, Palghar district, where Vasai-Virar lies, is listed under the Mumbai division. Ask the student's medium before the demo, and take timetables and circulars only from mahahsscboard.in.
Teach CBSE students here from NCERT, using the marking schemes and specimen questions published on cbseacademic.nic.in to set practice. Many children in Vasai-Virar travel some way to school, so at the demo ask how much of the evening is truly free, then use that time for full answers the student writes and you correct, not a second run of the day's lesson.
CISCE
ICSE (Class 10); ISC (Class 12)
Both CISCE papers reward long, orderly answers in a wide range of subjects, and English carries set literature texts. Build each term's revision around the regulations and specimen papers that cisce.org publishes. A tutor confident with these exams can teach ICSE children at home near their own neighbourhood and ISC students anywhere by video.
IB
Diploma Programme (Classes 11–12)
Expect a Vasai-Virar IB Diploma student to meet you on video and to work from the ibo.org subject guides. Helping plan the Internal Assessment and Extended Essay, and giving feedback on drafts, is fine; writing any part of them is not. A fixed weekly online hour outside school time keeps the work moving.
Start by finding out whether the student sits Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel, and which tier. From there, teaching is built on old question papers, examiner mark schemes and command words. Cambridge publishes its syllabuses at cambridgeinternational.org; for an IGCSE learner in Vasai-Virar, an online specialist is normally the practical choice.
