Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

"My child is weak in chemistry" is something tutors hear often from parents in Vasai, Nalasopara and Virar, and it is rarely the whole truth. Senior chemistry is three quite different kinds of work: numericals in physical chemistry, chains of reactions in organic, and facts with reasons in inorganic. A student can be comfortable in one and quietly lost in another, especially while junior college and an entrance course for NEET, JEE Main or MHT-CET run at the same time. A home tutor's first job is to find out which branch is slipping. Tell us your child's board, any entrance goal and where you live, and NXTutors shortlists two or three chemistry tutors with fees on view; your opening lesson with the one you pick is a free demo.
Look at the last test paper and sort the lost marks. Each branch fails in its own recognisable way, and each needs a different remedy from the tutor:
A tutor who begins the demo by asking which branch your child dreads, and then checks the answer against a real paper, is starting in the right place.
For 2026-27 the theory paper is worth 70, unchanged in design from last session, and the three branches take 33 (organic), 23 (physical) and 14 (inorganic). Chapter by chapter:
| Branch | Chapters and marks |
|---|---|
| Physical (23) | Electrochemistry 9; chemical kinetics 7; solutions 7 |
| Inorganic (14) | Coordination compounds 7; the d- and f-block elements 7 |
| Organic (33) | Aldehydes, ketones and carboxylic acids 8; biomolecules 7; amines 6; alcohols, phenols and ethers 6; haloalkanes and haloarenes 6 |
Electrochemistry is the largest single chapter, and organic as a whole is nearly half the paper, so a year plan that leaves organic to the end is a plan for trouble. Each chapter is taken in turn in our guide to Class 12 organic and inorganic chemistry, and the Class 12 chemistry tutor page sets out the board year.
The paper has 33 questions in five lettered sections, with internal choice in a few. Calculators and log tables are both barred, which means electrochemistry and kinetics sums are practised with friendly numbers and pen-and-paper arithmetic. Recall and understanding earn somewhat less than half of the paper; applying, analysing and evaluating earn the rest.
For 2026-27, the solid state and the p-block's Groups 15 to 18 are no longer in the course. A further four topics, namely the isolation of elements, polymers, surface chemistry and chemistry in everyday life, stay in the syllabus but only the school assesses them. The board paper includes none of these six. An entrance student should not cross them off, though. NTA publishes its own syllabus, so check the current one on nta.ac.in before deciding what to skip.
Chemistry appears as code 55 on the State Board's HSC subject list and is taken across Standards XI and XII, mostly at junior colleges and often alongside MHT-CET preparation. Vasai-Virar comes under the board's Mumbai division. Schools here teach in Marathi or English medium, and with Marathi, Hindi and Gujarati all spoken in homes across the city, a student may think about a reaction in one language while the paper asks for another. Put three questions to any tutor:
For the HSC chemistry marks themselves, read the current scheme on mahahsscboard.in; we do not reproduce them. Other subjects are on the Maharashtra Board tutors in Vasai-Virar page.
NEET (UG) 2026 gave chemistry 45 of its 180 questions, one quarter of the 720 marks, on a pen-and-paper test. In JEE Main 2026, Paper 1 held 25 chemistry questions, including 5 with a numerical-value answer. In both National Testing Agency papers a correct answer was worth +4 and a wrong one −1, so guessing has a price. Broadly, exact recall of the textbook pays most in NEET, above all in inorganic, whereas JEE Main asks more of reaction mechanisms and longer physical-chemistry problems. MHT-CET is the State CET Cell's test, and its pattern is published on cetcell.mahacet.org. Patterns change, so plan from the newest bulletin each year. The NEET chemistry tutor page and our NEET home tutor in Vasai-Virar page fill in the rest.
The bench work belongs to school, but most of what is examined is thinking. In CBSE, the practical carries 30 marks: 8 each for volumetric and salt analysis, 6 for a content-based experiment, 4 for the project and 4 for the record with the viva. The titration this year pairs potassium permanganate with either oxalic acid or Mohr's salt, and each student prepares the standard solution personally, from weighing to dissolving. State Board students follow their board's own practical rules.
Without any glassware, a tutor can still drill the calculation that turns a weighed mass into a molarity, set out a clean table of burette readings, rehearse salt analysis in its proper sequence, and ask the viva questions examiners like, for instance why no extra indicator is added when permanganate is the titrant. The project should be one the student can genuinely carry out alone.
Home lessons are most useful a step behind the classroom, consolidating what college or coaching covered, rather than running ahead. Two visits a week can be divided like this:
| Visit | First half | Second half |
|---|---|---|
| First visit | The student explains the week's topic with the book shut, so gaps surface while they are small | One physical-chemistry numerical worked slowly, every line read by the tutor |
| Second visit | A page of organic conversions redrawn from memory | Two "give reasons" answers written and corrected on the spot, plus a short timed objective set |
Standard XI deserves the same rhythm: the mole concept, equilibrium and the first organic chapters come back throughout Standard XII. See the Class 11 chemistry tutor page.
Our Vasai-Virar page lists tutors for every locality, from Naigaon up through Nalasopara to Virar East and Virar West. Six neighbourhoods in Vasai and Naigaon show the detail worth sending:
In Sandor, HSC science students usually carry an entrance test too, so name it and ask the tutor to order the chapters so board and entrance work support each other. Chulne, spelt Chulna on some signs, has a quieter, village layout with fewer tutors living inside it; give the lane and a neighbour to ask for, and fix the weekday evenings well ahead.
Gokhivare, also Gokhiware, is easiest to find from the lake; keep the same two or three days each week so the routine holds. In Vasant Nagari, write the neighbourhood first and then Vasai East or Nalasopara East, as your building does, and agree how homework will be checked at the next visit.
Spell out Naigaon West so no one heads to the east side, and add a shop or chowk nearby. Juchandra sits on the eastern fringe of Naigaon, where fewer tutors live; a specialist online for chemistry and a home tutor for the other subjects is a sensible split.
In the pre-board season, making one of the weekly visits an online session can save revision time. The Vasai East and Naigaon zone pages and our Vasai-Virar home tuition guide add more.
CISCE marks ISC chemistry through a theory paper plus practical work and a project, and its examiners want reasons, not one-line claims. IB Diploma chemistry, SL or HL, is organised around structure and reactivity; the internal investigation must be the student's own, so a tutor can ask questions about it but never draft it. IGCSE entries are at Core or Extended level; to see how Cambridge and Edexcel compare, read our IGCSE boards comparison. Name the course in your first message, since local teachers for these are fewer.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors fix their own fee. Good comparison questions: which branch does the tutor like teaching most, how would the weeks be shared between board and entrance work, and could a busy week become an online lesson? The shortlist shows every fee before a demo, and the Vasai-Virar home tuition fees guide lists other questions.
Include the standard and board, the entrance test if there is one, the branch that worries your child most, the days already given to college or coaching, your neighbourhood with East or West and a landmark, and the evenings still free. Two or three chemistry tutors come back with fees, and the one you choose gives a free demo. If the fit is wrong, another tutor gives a demo, and moving to a new tutor later is free as well. Where no suitable tutor can travel to you, a plan that is wholly or partly online is the answer; read online tutors for Vasai-Virar. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works). Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Chemistry tutors in Vasai-Virar fix their own fees, all shown on the shortlist before a demo. Ask which branch each tutor enjoys teaching and how they would split time between board and entrance work.
Families send the standard, board, entrance test, the branch that worries the student, college or coaching days, neighbourhood and free evenings. NXTutors proposes two or three matched chemistry tutors with fees, and the one you pick gives a free demo. A mismatch simply means a demo with someone else.
A parent can sort the lost marks on the last test by branch. Dropped units and powers of ten point to physical chemistry. Reactions forgotten within weeks point to organic. Facts without reasons point to inorganic. Each needs a different remedy, so ask the tutor to start the demo with this check.
In 2026-27, organic chemistry carries 33 of the 70 theory marks, physical 23 and inorganic 14. Electrochemistry, at 9 marks, is the largest single chapter. Since organic is nearly half the paper, a Vasai-Virar student should never leave it to the end of the year.
Six topics stay off the 2026-27 board paper. The solid state and Groups 15 to 18 of the p-block are out of the course, while polymers, surface chemistry, chemistry in everyday life and the isolation of elements are school-assessed. Entrance students should still check the NTA syllabus before skipping any.
The HSC Chemistry scheme is on the Maharashtra State Board site, mahahsscboard.in, where Chemistry is code 55. Vasai-Virar falls under the board's Mumbai division. A tutor should teach from the board textbook and sample question papers, and keep the journal and viva on schedule through both years.
NEET (UG) 2026 gave chemistry 45 of 180 questions, a quarter of 720 marks, and JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 had 25 chemistry questions, five with numerical answers. Both scored plus four and minus one. MHT-CET is run by the State CET Cell, which publishes its pattern on cetcell.mahacet.org.
Yes, a home tutor can prepare most of the thinking behind the practical. CBSE gives 8 marks each to volumetric and salt analysis, 6 to a content-based experiment, 4 to the project and 4 to record and viva. This year's titration uses potassium permanganate with oxalic acid or Mohr's salt.
Families should agree the entrance goal, a fixed routine and the address details. In Sandor, name the test so board and entrance chapters are planned together. In Gokhivare, keep one fixed set of weekdays and mention the lake. In Juchandra, consider an online chemistry specialist alongside a home tutor.
Online chemistry tuition can protect revision time before pre-boards, when evenings get crowded. Many families turn one weekly visit into an online class with the same tutor. Online also suits ISC, IB and IGCSE chemistry, where local teachers are fewer, with a home tutor for written practice.
